#Cayde stop glaring at the screen he's gone

Wounds heal, Scars fade...

I noticed the looks...the stares....and how she changed after Cayde died. I chose to ignore the scene before me and she killed Uldren but now I fear for her safety. The Vanguard have turned a blind eye to the shady bastard known as the Drifter but I won't.

I waited for her at the entrance to the sub basement where the Drifter had recently set up shop. I'm surprised Ada hasn't walked over and shot him yet remembering the cold shoulder she gave me first time we met. And right on schedule she transmatted into the bazaar.

Nevia stopped for a second and stared at the ramen shop she and Cayde would eat at then quickly walked towards the entrance only looking up when she caught the glint coming off my Orpheus rig.

"Hey Nevia! Mind if I join you?" I said with a smile. She sighed and pushed back her hood.

"Sio didn't send you did she?" She said with a slight glare. I paused for a second remembering who that was.

"Nope I come at my own volition." I said as I held my hands up in mock surrender. She looked me up and down then sighed again, "Fine."

We walked down the step listening to the bustle of the bazaar slowly fade but the awkward silence only got louder.

I cleared my throat and handed her a slightly greasy white bag. "I remembered you like the ham and cheese croissants I got us before." I said with a smile. She looked like she was going to object but then her stomach growled. "We can eat these at the lower transmat spot before we go rushing into Gambit at least."

We sat in silence as we ate and looked over the city. This time is my turn to sigh as I turned to look at her.

"Look....Nevia I-...there are people who are really worried about you. After....after Cayde died you've become more and more distant and now you're carrying 2 weapons of sorrow on your hips."

Nevia stopped her eyes widening for a second then she glared daggers at me, "How did you know?"

"I can sense them...just like every other guardian you walk past. We can sense the darkness coming from them which you've managed to shut out."

"So what? I'm not trying to kill anyone." She got up and started to walk away.

I quickly got up trying to stop her as I put a hand on her shoulder, "You need to stop talking to Drifter! He's clouded your mind and is making you cope with your grief and very unhealthy way!" She shoved me away and glared at me again.

"Who the hell are you to tell me what to do? I'm perfectly fine!" She started to walk away again. "Besides not like anyone cares."

"I DO" I said with a shout. My optics slowly turning blue since exos can't cry. "I care dammit! I was there when you killed Uldren, me AND Sio were there for you after Cayde died, and I was there watching over you in Gambit."

Nevia had stopped and turned when I initially shouted and had started to walk towards me.

"Whenever you got cornered in Gambit I would snipe enemies and hide my light so Drifter wouldn't find me." She stopped a couple feet in front of me as I shook and sniffled. "I just...I just wanted to keep you safe." I looked her right in the eyes then stepped forward and put my forehead against hers, closing my eyes and reached out with my Light.

When guardians choose to share their light with another, their goal is to not over power their partners light with their own but balance it out in harmony.

Nevia had never used solar light before so I could sense she never had total control of it. I could sense she was surprised but she didn't immediately push me away when I reached out with my Light. Her light was like a roaring fire that someone kept pouring gasoline on to. Using my void light I cooled down the fire to that of a regular campfire. Still there and still dangerous. I pulled away and opened my eyes and saw she was crying.

I held her close and let her cry, slowly feeling the tension release from her shoulders.

I kissed the side of her head softly knowing she probably wasn't ready for someone to actually kiss her.

She backed up and sniffled wiping the tears from her eyes, "Thank you Rhea...for Everything."

"No problem...wanna go get more croissants?" My optics had gone from blue to a purple ish pink and unfortunately she noticed.

"Sure....are you blushing?" She stepped closer.

"Pffft No I'm not." My optics went even more pink which didn't help at all.

"Oh really?" She said smirking as she crossed her arms over her chest then poked my arm. "Because I know your optics change color based on your emotions."

She had me cornered so I tried deflecting, "Let's just go to the cafe before-" I got cut off as she kissed my cheek and my optics went full on pink. She started laughing as I squealed and tried to hide my face with my hood and walk away but smacked right into a support beam and fell on my ass instead.

I looked up at her as she laughed and helped me up. "Want me to hold your hand so you don't run into any more pillars?" I grumbled slightly and held her hand as I kept pulling my hood down. She just chuckled as we walked back up to the bazaar following the smell of freshly baked croissants.
