#(cause I want to use procreate and can't on my laptop)

thinking about that post I reblogged the other day about how Bezos could be the world's first trillioner. And how I am full of anxiety now cause if I had this 1000euro ipad for work, it would be so so much easier, but there is no way I can afford that... like I could pay in doses, but our washing machine also broke and ugh
do you know how much 1000 is for a billioner? it's not even 1 cent of the basic income in my country. 1 cent. and people go in dept because they can't afford that kind of rent

have you thought about a docked laptop setup? i have a lot of my own energy/disability issues and i'm looking into it for when i can upgrade. getting a good laptop that can do most things, but having the ability to dock it to an external gpu and a monitor setup when you want to do work or play big games at your desk is like. one of the better ways to get a split setup that lets you move to bed when you're low energy without much hassle
money's the main thang for sure. i have a solid desktop setup, so i don't really have to worry about performance or anything like that.
portability for digital art is a little tricky for me just 'cause i am very particular about how stuff feels. it's a sensory thing, and when it's off, drawing feels like 7000 pins in my wrist and arm (mentally) lol. so if my brain is in cintiq mode, it's wanting everything sensory about my cintiq - how it feels to push the pen on the screen, how much glide/friction there is, etc. also cursor/hover stuff, which doesn't exist on the ipad i have.
it also does not help that my cintiq is a 13hd, so it uses wacom's lovely (awful) 3-in-1 cable, which is already finicky enough without daisychaining usb/hdmi extenders lol
so usually i'll just swap to my ipad, if the sensory overlords deem it acceptable. anddd that brings up the other nested issue:
my ipad is a 6th gen ipad, the first non-pro one that can use the pencil. it's at the point where i can't have another app open while drawing whether it's clip studio or procreate. it's just old and i've used the hell out of it. it also doesn't support hover, so another sensory problem.
honestly if i could afford it, i'd probably just get the biggest, newest ipad pro. it has hover capability and would be comparable to my cintiq size wise. i could use this w/astropad and be able to hop to and from my desk without issue for the most part. also the novelty of a new toy could help push me through the adjustment period of getting used to going back and forth lol.
i'd be able to use it more dependably for drawing wherever, as well as serving most needs i'd want out of a laptop.
buuuut i am still in a perpetual state of not being able to afford my basics, let alone think about any technological upgrades/changes. sooo i just have to tell my autistic ass to calm down and wait it out, hopefully i can address it before i die!! :D
(ty for the suggestion btw!! i hope you find something that works for you, too!)

Dere! Thank you sm for all the tablet recommendations <333 (are you a sales person?lmaoo)
I looked into them all today and they all sound good except for one teensy problem...I don't own a PC or laptop😭 I feel like my options are real limited right now. I've been stealing my son's little ass Samsung tablet to draw with the ibisPaint x app lolol. Like it's not bad but I guess I just got used to procreate so I do miss an ipad but omg they're so expensive and I feel like I'm going insane because of how bad I fucking want it!!😩
I hope to one day maybe do commissions as some sort of income cause you know as lovely as it sounds, being a stay home mom fucking sucks!!! So like I want to get better but I can't..not really because for that you need practice. But practice on what??? Lmaoo
I'm sorry for ranting,but yeah tysm,💕💕💕💕💕
Ofc ofc Ana, I’m so glad I could be of some help :3. (Just really into art and have done a lot of previous research into digital LMAO)
Ah, I thought a little bit about that while I was recommending but I thought I would still put the options out there 😭. That is unfortunate :(((.
You can get a good touchscreen laptop (like a 2-in-1) for around $200-$400 and then get a compatible stylus and try that maybe? Cheaper than an iPad but has touch screen you can draw on, but also can do all the things a computer can do! And then down the line if you wanted to try one of my previous recommendations you’ll have a laptop to connect :3.
My current computer is a HP 2-in-1 that was like 300 and something dollars and it works great! He do be on the smaller side, but I like him that way uwu.
I certainly hope one day you can do those commissions! It seems so gratifying being able to make some spare cash of off doing art :3. I believe you can do it ùwú. I would totally be trying if I thought I was good enough to LMAO. Maybe one day uwu.
Also I don’t mind the rants uwuwuwuwuwuwwu. Very much valid feel free to express urself here 😘😘😘💋💋💋.
I love u sm! owo 💖💖💖💖

Can I ask what program do you use to make your art? I want to start doing digital art and teach myself but I don’t know what’s best to use
I'm actually really new to digital art as well, and if I can survive with my depleting number of brain cells, I'm sure you can do 100 times better than me.
Just trust the process. It doesn't matter how or where you start, give yourself time to master your skill. It'll come naturally after some practice. Just remember you don't need the most recent software or anything expensive to start - or at least that would be my recommendation. Invest in whichever tablet (digital, graphic, or even designed one) fits your budget. You can always upgrade when you feel comfortable with the medium, you don't necessarily need to pursue art through a digital lens if you feel like it's not your thing (don't let this stop you though, you can keep trying as well).
When I initially started out, I was using a free software called Sketchbook, it was an in-house creative app, kinda like Studio Paint 3D. I would 100% recommend it for beginners who are trying to get a feel for the medium. It's almost as good as some of the priced digital software out there, with similar features and setup.
Currently, I have a subscription to Clip Studio Paint EX (I'm sure you can get a cracked version too somewhere on the internet), It's simple and fun with a lot of features and tools. There's even an option to download more tools and brushes. Definitely recommend it once you've got your legs in digital art.
I would also recommend Adobe Photoshop and procreate (for apple). just stick to whichever software makes you feel comfortable and produce the best art.
For technology and devices, I use a regular DELL laptop and a Huion H420 USB pen tablet (I recommend this, cause it's been like 2 years and she hasn't died on me yet. and neither have I faced any major problems with her). The tablet is extremely easy to set up and integrate with your desktop or laptop.
I'm sorry for the rant, but I really hope this helps you start. Once you get in, the digital art world is really fun and versatile.
I can't wait to see what you create, have fun, take care and stay safe.
