In consideration of Vetrans Day, which I don't really intend to observe in any serious way IRL, I will say that I have never been so quickly, forcefully, and wholely removed from the experience of a fic as when last night I read, with my own two eyes, Nile Freeman, proud legacy Marine, say "I was in the Army."
