re the "mirrors used to be silver-backed" thing, I feel like in a world where vampires Objectively Really Exist it's perfectly reasonable that people would keep using silver for things where in our world there's now a cheaper alternative, because the silver observably has utility aluminum doesn't. (Basically what I'm saying is your decision is perfectly valid and I like it a lot)
