#'normalise body hair' EVEN WHEN ITS NOT ON WHITE WOMEN
felucians · 1 year
Text
My sister has already started being bullied by the white kids in her class for having body hair.
She's in 5th Grade.
Growing up as a brown girl, I had the same experiences with being ridiculed for dark body hair - on my legs, arms, face. I was emasculated by my peers and started over performing femininity. I began shaving behind my mamás back as soon as I started Middle School. It left me with scars from where I had a shaky hand and slipped, and I didn't know how to do it properly.
I bled to be "normal" by their standards.
From my trauma, I've been unable to shave in over a year. Now, I'm making the conscious choice to leave my body hair and embrace it - not for myself, but for my sister and for all the small brown girls who share our experience.
I'm still feminine and "normal" with body hair. It's beautiful and natural, thick and dark.
Let's change the standards, together.

Artistic Merit
Ever since starting her scholarship to the art college, Belle had made no secret of her fascination with erotic art. She had always loved the idea of making the unseen seen, of taking private moments and putting them on public display, showing the world that there was no shame in the joys of sex and intimacy, and normalising it into something that was commonplace and yet still had the capacity to entice and excite.
Indeed, after years of studying the subject, Belle could still feel her pulse quicken when she looked at a particularly sensual piece, and more than once she had found her fingers creeping down towards the apex of her thighs in the most unlikely of places as she worked and researched.
Naturally, when she’d found out about the exhibition at the local gallery, which would include a showcase from one of her own professors, no less, she’d jumped at the chance to uncover more art and new ways of painting pleasure onto paper, and whatever other media she could find.
Belle walked slowly through the pieces, drinking in the atmosphere and feeling the first embers of desire begin to burn between her legs. The images were truly beautiful, and Belle found herself thinking about them from the other side of the camera or paintbrush. What would it be like to pose for such artwork? To perform such acts of love and self-pleasure for the silent artist audience. It was one thing to view art after it was made, but to be a part of its making was quite another.
She had purposefully left Professor Gold’s area of the exhibition until last, knowing that he would be there, and that she would want to speak to him about it. He was standing off to one side as she entered his room, speaking to someone Belle recognised as one of the gallery owners. He acknowledged her with a nod, and she fell to admiring his work.
There was a dream-like, fairy-tale quality in Gold’s painting, which only added to the allure of his work, and it matched perfectly to his subject matter. The main centrepiece of his exhibition was a series of erotic illustrations of classic tales. Red Riding Hood was riding her wolfman, head thrown back in ecstasy as her red cloak slipped to show a peek of bare nipple. The beast was transformed back into a man with his beauty’s love, kneeling naked and vulnerable before her. The little mermaid explored the new bits between her new legs as she stood on the beach in the moonlight.
Belle felt the all too familiar pull of arousal in her belly, and she shifted her hips, feeling wet on her gusset already.
“What do you think?” Gold came over to her, holding out a glass of champagne. Belle had already had one when she’d first arrived – it was cheap and acidic, but she accepted gratefully, hoping that it would stop her being tongue-tied. She’d had a little bit of a crush on her professor since the start of her course, but now that she was here, with him and all of his erotic work, it had developed into something much hotter and more full-bodied.
“I like it,” she said. “I like how the women are all in control and owning their sexual agency. It would be so easy to have something like the princess chained up naked in the dragon’s tower or something like that, but you allow these women to enjoy sex and to own their nudity.”
“A woman’s sexuality is an incredibly powerful thing,” Gold said. “Why do you think that everyone has always tried so hard to suppress it?”
Belle nodded her agreement. “Yes, that is an excellent point.” She looked again at the pictures. “No Snow White or Sleeping Beauty?”
“Slight consent problem there, trying to make those ones erotic. Especially considering the original Grimm tales.”
“What about Cinderella?”
Gold chuckled. “You’re very welcome to continue the series yourself if you wish. I’m happy to accept a collaborator.”
“No, I don’t think it would be the same, not being in your style. Mine’s bolder, yours is more delicate. It wouldn’t work. But…” Belle’s heart leapt to her mouth, unable to believe she was even thinking about making the suggestion. “I’d be happy to be your muse. I’d give you the ideas and pose for them, and you could put them into paintings for me.”
Gold looked at her, his expression unreadable.
“You’d pose for my erotic art?” he asked. There was a huskiness in his voice, a note of desire.
“I’ve posed nude for life drawing classes before,” Belle said.
“Ah, but this is very different.”
“I’m counting on it, Professor Gold.”
There was barely an inch between them now, and Belle could see the flecks of deep gold in his chocolate brown eyes.
“In that case, I’d be happy to accept your proposal,” he said, his voice low and gravelly, and Belle knew that they were talking about so much more than just posing for pictures. “My studio’s only a few minutes’ walk away, and I might expire from boredom if I have to spend any more time with these pretentious idiots.” He looked over his shoulder at the gallery owner. “Shall we get started right away?”
Belle nodded. “That sounds like an excellent idea to me.”
They left the gallery together, and they did not speak much as they covered the short distance to Gold’s studio. It was as if they both knew that the moment would only really begin once they were inside the space where the art would occur.
“Can I get you something to drink?” Gold asked. “Tea or coffee, perhaps, to counteract that rank excuse for champagne that they were serving at the gallery?”
“Tea sounds lovely, thank you.” Belle hung up her coat as Gold went over to the small kitchen area in the corner of the studio, filling the electric kettle and getting mugs and teabags. Belle had never been inside Gold’s studio before, and she wanted to treat this privileged occasion with the proper respect. There were all sorts of things lying around, props and furniture that models had posed with in the past, and of course, his actual works. She looked at the easel where a half-completed painting sat. It was another of the fairy tales, although it was not worked enough for Belle to identify it.
“It’s going to be the Princess and the Frog,” Gold called from the kitchen. “When I finish she’ll be wearing strategically placed lily pads over her essentials.”
Belle laughed as he brought the tea over, and she took a grateful sip. “How many will you do?”
“As many as strike my imagination. Of course, that may be more if you start giving me ideas as well. So…” He led her away from the easel to sit down on an old chaise longue. “Tell me about your vision of Cinderella.”
“Oh, it sounds so stupid now.” Belle looked into the depths of her tea, asking it to give her courage. “I just thought about the prince having a foot fetish.”
Gold gave a snort of laughter, but his dark eyes were in earnest, and Belle thought she could feel them staring into her very soul. God, part of her wanted to throw him down on this chaise and ride him as proudly as Red Riding Hood in her painting.
“Go on,” he said softly.
“They’re in the palace garden,” she said, her eyes never leaving Gold’s. “The clocktower in the background is showing quarter to midnight, or something like that.”
Gold put down his mug and grabbed a sketchpad, his pencil flying over the paper as he roughly outlined her vision.
“Yes?”
“They’re both naked, apart from the glass slippers. She’s sitting on a bench, or a swing seat, or something, and he’s sitting on the ground below her, worshipping her feet in these slippers. She’s enjoying it. Maybe touching herself whilst he’s preoccupied.”
“I see.” Gold’s thumbnail sketch continued to take shape, and Belle had to gasp at how much just the rough outlines were turning her on. Finally, he stopped, putting the sketchpad down between them.
“Something like that?” he asked, his voice a low growl.
“That’s perfect,” Belle breathed.
“And you’d like to strike a pose for this?”
Belle nodded, putting her mug down on the floor beside Gold’s and standing up to unzip her dress, letting it fall to her ankles and kicking it off to one side. She’d gone braless beneath it, and her nipples hardened in the cool air of the studio, making her shiver. She rubbed her fingers over the little buds and moaned, before peeling her panties down her legs.
She left her shoes on, putting her hands on her hips and giving Gold her most sultry pout, letting him look his fill at her, hips pushed forward.
“Am I a good enough model for you, Professor Gold?”
“I don’t think there’s ever been a better one.”
She sat back down, hiking one heel up onto the chaise as she let her legs loll open, spreading her nether lips and touching herself languidly, although she could already feel the sweat beginning to shine on her skin. There was a ready wetness gathering at her entrance, and she rubbed it gently along her folds, circling her clit.
“Would this do?”
“Perfectly, Belle.” Gold was mesmerised by her, unable to tear his eyes away as he stood and began to undress until he was as unashamedly naked as she was. He was erect already, his cock jutting proudly in front of him, and he gave himself a couple of hard tugs as he knelt on the floor before her.
“Every princess needs her adoring prince,” he rasped, kissing along her inner thigh. “Not a foot man myself, though. No, I’m far more interest in this.”
He moved her hand and licked a stripe along her cleft, lapping eagerly at her swollen pearl. Belle cried out at the sensation, nails scrabbling for purchase on the back of the chaise as Gold continued to kiss and lick at her, now pushing his tongue into her entrance, now nuzzling at her patch of close trimmed hair, now flicking the tip of his tongue over her clit and making her scream again.
“Gold!”
He laughed, the sound vibrating against her over-sensitised folds, and he slipped one leg up over his shoulder, bringing him in closer. A finger pushed inside, curling in just the right place as his tongue kept up the relentless teasing of her clit.
Belle didn’t know what she yelled as the dam broke and she came apart for him. She only hoped that the other studios in the building weren’t occupied at this time in the evening. She came back down to herself as Gold pulled his finger out and let her leg slip down, sitting back on his heels and wiping his face clean, licking her juices off his hand.
“Much better than the champagne.”
“I’m glad you think so. Although now, I think it’s your turn.” She reached out, brushing her fingertips over the head of his cock as he got back to his feet. “Time for some adoration of your own.”
Gold sat back on the chaise beside her, and Belle leaned over his lap, gripping his cock tightly and taking the head in her mouth, swirling her tongue around it and over it as she pumped his shaft.
“Sweet Jesus, Belle.” His hand tangled in her hair, and a glance upwards showed his eyes were closed, head thrown back with pleasure. She brought her other hand down to cradle his heavy balls, rolling them in her palm. “Fuck, Belle, I’m going to come!”
Belle let him slip from her mouth, giving him a couple of firm strokes to finish him off and make him come undone for her; he swore as he spurted over her hand.
For a long while they sat slumped on the chaise in the cooling, until Belle chanced to lean in and press her lips tentatively against Gold’s. Strange that they should share such carnal delights before even kissing, but Gold accepted her eagerly, pulling her in closer and running his hands gently over her bare back.
“You know,” Belle said, once they finally broke apart, “I have plenty more ideas for new paintings for you.”
Gold just growled, pulling her in for another kiss, and Belle smiled against his mouth. This was going to be the beginning of a wonderful partnership.

Islamophobia
"Our differences are our strength as a species and as a world community" (Mandela; 2002: 83). This is the ideal notion which we as people especially in today's society would like to believe is the reality of the world which we live yet this is not the case. Difference and otherness are present in many different aspects on a daily basis which through analyses has become normal and daily acceptable views in society. These can be from race to religion. The discussion on Islamophobia is important as it demonstrates the key aspects of othering and furthermore, the ideas of stereotypes.
Generally white and male, the characterizing subject connects adversely arched qualities with the characterized "other"— in this setting the Muslim religion —while holding positive properties for its own definition and distinguishing proof. In his scrutinize of the portrayal of race and sexual orientation in connection to "otherness," Stuart Hall clarifies that the limit of stereotyping is made conceivable, just by an unequal division and circulation of energy applied by the decision gathering, whose perspective of the world and a social esteem framework are held and classified as givens, as opposed to as developments to be addressed. As indicated by that rationale, the "other" isn't a kind of non-self; it is just that which is gruffly removed, overlooked, and even pathologized by the gathering with control close by. "Othering," at that point, is a procedure that distortedly externalizes a gathering of subjects by barring them from the group of "selves."
Through an analysis of historical events – more specifically in the United States of America- it has been presented as though people of the Muslim faith are terrorists and their faith allows for destruction to occur. The crashing of the planes of 9/11 through to Osama Binladen have been well-known events which have been shown on mainstream media and as a result the views presented by the USA are ones which have filtered on the other countries resulting in the stereotype of Muslims – as a result Islamophobia.
Islamophobia is a contrived fear or prejudice fomented by the existing Eurocentric and Orientalist global power structure. It is directed at a perceived or real Muslim threat through the maintenance and extension of existing disparities in economic, political, social and cultural relations. It should be noted however that the media is the biggest fuel towards this prejudice and stereotype of one of the world’s biggest religion after Christianity.  The media more often than not shape and actively craft public opinion rather than mirroring it. We still live in a time where the majority of people assume they are being fed facts as opposed to opinions or editorialized facts. They take the media particularly the news as the truth.
Islamophobia has intensified with the 9/11 bombing of the World Trade Center in New York, the Taliban’s fundamentalist proscriptions and restrictions in Afghanistan, the Charlie Hebdo attack in France, and the emergence of the self-proclaimed “Islamic State group (ISIS) which allegedly shows videos of the beheadings of their prisoners who are more often journalists.
But in our day and age, the aura of fear perpetuated by politicians and the media obscures our reality and produces an artificially construed representation of that reality. In a politically charged environment marred by the looming “threat” posed by “Muslim extremists”, objectivity is virtually impossible.
The media no longer serve to challenge hegemonic narratives and discourses disseminated by governments; in fact, they often now act as a fourth branch of the government and a mouthpiece through which these narratives are normalised and brought into our homes. Islam has been consistently portrayed by global media as a violent-prone religion that is diametrically opposed to the West
It cannot be ignored that Muslims face discrimination in many ways in day to day society, from being pulled aside at the airport when in line to check in to be body searched to ensure they are not human bombers, to countries making laws not allowing Muslim women to cover their hair and faces. France with regards to the manner in which Islamophobia is present is distinguished by the manner in which the state has played a very large role even in the laws of the country. It was recently when over 300 influential members signed a petition wanting the Quran to be rewritten after the French-state law banned Muslims from wearing their headscarves in public institutions.  This is just the physically and social aspect of Islamophobia, it is unfortunate that social media has also been a platform whereby Muslims are being bashed and treated unequally.
There are many social media pages of Facebook and Twitter which are against the Muslim faith due to the stereotypes that have been created. These social media sites have done many horrendous from saying very uncalled for and rude comments to Muslim believing people are about their faith to organising a day whereby bad thing would be done towards Muslim people. In the UK there were horrific letters sent out to Muslim people aimed at a planned day called ‘Punish a Muslim Day’ not only are the encouraging people to attack and hurt Muslim people but also Mosques. Many people took to social media to share their thoughts about this. It is evident that some were promoting the day and others were horrified and disgusted by such lack of humanity and also starting another movement to help Muslim people who find themselves feeling safe.
It is thus evident that social media in the rise of media has demonstrated different aspects but with regards to Islamophobia it appears to have been a very negative tool to the people of the Muslim faith. It is unfortunate that mainstream media too has failed in expressing a different narrative and thus it leaves the question How can such stereotypes be changed?

Donald Trump's Orange Face May Be Funny — But This Tanning Historian Say It Masks Something Deeper

Donald Trump's Orange Face May Be Funny — But This Tanning Historian Say It Masks Something Deeper

When Trump was elected in 2016, succeeding former president Barack Obama, I remember references such as “orange is the new black”. At once an allusion to the popular Netflix series and a bold comment on race, colour here functions as an important form of satire. And this satiric use of colour has persisted throughout Trump’s presidency. His recent UK visit witnessed the orange baby balloon and orange-faced protesters continuing this in full force.
My specialism is the history of tanning, so I find this particular form of humour fascinating. It’s striking that Trump’s skin tone, above all else, has prompted such a level of derision.
Fake it to make it
Orange is a colour with such comedic value because it is impossible, disingenuous: it is a mark of artifice. Tanning enthusiasts speak of achieving a healthy “glow”, looking “bronzed”, and one’s (implicitly and necessarily once white) skin “browning” in the sun. “Fake bake” would seem, and is marketed as, the safer alternative to true exposure to the sun’s UV rays, which we know can cause cancer.
SPONSORED
But the problem is it remains just that: fake. The colouring is a dye, sitting on the skin’s upper surface layer, not a natural alteration of pigment embedded deeper within the cells. Unlike red lipstick, violet hair dye, or blue eye shadow – which are also clearly “unnatural” aesthetic additions and colour modifications to the human face – the orange fake tan (or serious overuse of bronzer) is widely viewed as unacceptable within popular culture. The natural progression of skin “phototypes” does not include orange as a colour “value” on this light-dark spectrum.
Less a subtle browning than a fluorescent face plant, we find the colour funny because it’s an all-too-obvious applied coating that fails to convince anyone of natural pigmentation. Orange is not bronze, not brown, not black (and never will be). It is laughable, therefore, because it is a mark of failure, an act of mimicry gone wrong. Put simply, orange isn’t “of value” to us because it isn’t a “value” as a skin colour at all.
Agent Orange. Antwon McMullen / Shutterstock.com
And let us remember why it exists in the first place. It is a normalised belief in white Western culture that dark skin is to be envied, that altering (however temporarily) one’s original colour by darkening it several shades down the colour line will make it look more beautiful, healthier, sexier, younger. This is the case for both women, especially young white women in the US and UK, as well as men, not least male bodybuilders.
It’s not surprising, then, that Trump believes altering his natural skin colour will improve his appearance and, hence, sense of self. The belief in a “healthy tan” has existed since the early 20th century, and continues to drive tourism just as it drives the tanning bed and fake tan industries.
Getting below the surface
I’d argue that there is something very serious about Trump’s orange face – something serious about the superficial. Scottish artist and writer David Batchelor argues that colour has been feared and marginalised as trivial, as artifice, as “other”, throughout the history of Western civilisation. He terms this “chromophobia”, describing the prejudice against colour as operating two ways:
In the first, colour is made out to be the property of some ‘foreign’ body – usually the feminine, the oriental, the primitive, the infantile, the vulgar, the queer or the pathological. In the second, colour is relegated to the realm of the superficial, the supplementary, the inessential or the cosmetic. In one, colour is regarded as alien and therefore dangerous; in the other, it is perceived merely as a secondary quality of experience, and thus unworthy of serious consideration. Colour is dangerous, or it is trivial, or it is both.
Fake tan, fake news. Manutsawee Buapet / Shutterstock.com
Like his combover (his thinning hair suggesting lost youth and virility) or his sourpuss pouts (lost composure under intense media scrutiny), Trump’s orange skin is a target of ridicule – of a man obsessed with vanity yet marked by signs of failed masculinity. And yet there is danger here, too, for they are implicitly signs of weak and worrisome leadership, of a man out of control of his appearance and perhaps, by extension to his opponents, his country.
The reference to Trump as “Agent Orange” is particularly relevant. Used by the US military in the Vietnam War to destroy foliage, this chemical also contained the carcinogen, TCDD, which seriously harmed many local inhabitants and their future unborn children. For artists like Busta Rhymes, Trump is envisioned as a dangerous weapon or force of destruction that threatens global peace.
Above all, there is a crucial irony that the orange-saturated skin that has become so characteristic of Trump’s image is totally at odds with the overt xenophobia and racism that saturate his words and actions. Yet here, too, are historical parallels: Hitler equally praised the “bronzed”, sculpted bodies of the ancients and encouraged his soldiers to tan and exercise in the open air while simultaneously spouting of the purity of the Aryan race.
I am not arguing that Trump is a modern-day Hitler (even if others have). What I am arguing is that orange is a colour not of comedy but of contention, even provocation. Protesters wear orange paint like a war mask, mocking Trump’s unstable character and confused “values”. His odd, even toxic, colouring may seem trivial, but its meaning is more than skin deep.

Angry Creamsicle, Comrade Cheetolino, Mango Mussolini, Agent Orange – these are just a few of the nicknames that Donald Trump has picked up along his presidential road. Trump may ethnically identify as “white”, but his skin is categorically and scathingly portrayed as orange.

Amberen Review: Does this restore hormonal balance?
Amberen is a supplement designed to help women who are suffering with the symptoms of the menopause and perimenopause.
It’s clinically tested compounds are claimed to restore the balance of hormones without the use of hormone replacement therapy.
Amberen is a natural supplement, however it doesn’t take the regular herbal approach.
Instead they have chosen to include a blend of succinates, amino acids, vitamins and minerals in their formula.
Attention Amberen readers: Click here for our #1 rated fat burner for women
Benefits
Some women can opt for Hormone Replacement Therapy  to help with the menopause, however due to the risks attached to this, many prefer to relieve the symptoms the natural way. (1).
Here are some of many benefits of Amberen:
Promotes Hormonal Balance
The main concept behind Amberen is to target the root of the menopause by restoring the hormonal balance within the body.
The menopause and symptoms relating are brought on because of the decline in levels in female hormones such as estrogen. This is also known to be age-related (2).
This all happens when a tiny part of the brain called the hypothalamus stops talking to the hormone makers – the pituitary gland.
When signals are not sent, information is not passed onto the ovaries. This means production is not stimulated – hence low levels of hormones.
Amberen works by encouraging the hypothalamus to re-open the lines of communication and restore the whole process between relevant hormone producers.
Relieves Hot Flashes
One of the most common symptoms of the menopause is the “tropical moments” or more commonly known as hot flashes.
Excessive sweating from the erratic changes in body temperature can not only be frustrating but also embarrassing.
It’s thought the imbalance of estrogen plays a big part in the cause although the why’s and how’s are still unclear.  (3)
Amberen uses a formula which aims to alleviate this issue.
Regulates Mood
Mood is heavily related to hormones.
When you are stressed out the body’s level of cortisol increases. On the other hand  when you are happy the hormone serotonin is in full swing.
Experts are confident there is a direct link between estrogen and the production of serotonin. (4)
During the menopause, estrogen levels become irregular which has an negative impact on serotonin levels. In fact you are 14 times more likely to develop depression because of menopausal factors. (5)
Amberen is geared to restore order and equilibrium behind your mood.
Other benefits of Amberen include the relief of other symptoms including: stress, low energy, weight gain, headaches, reduced sex drive, joint aches, irritability, low concentration, sleeplessness and night sweats.
Ingredients
Amberen is made from a proprietary blend totalling 400mg per serving. Although the exact amounts are unknown, we do know it includes the following ingredients:
Ammonium Succinate
Ammonium succinate is a colorless crystal which is water -soluble. It is commonly used within food as a neutralizer, or an additive, but it also has antioxidant properties.
Not only can it fight off free radicals, ammonium succinate is fast acting, helps to improve energy levels and has a detox effect on the body.
To establish whether this compound could decrease menopausal related issues, experts actually put Amberen to the test. Results were positive, showing an improvement in symptoms. (6).
Calcium
Calcium is an essential mineral which is used for a number of functions in the body.
Teeth and bones are stronger because of it and it can also help to regulate muscle contractions – including your heartbeat.
Calcium is vital at any age but it is very important for women of menopausal age because of the increased risk in osteoporosis.
Bone mass declines with age and research has also found there is an unfavorable change to the calcium balance within women who are experiencing menopause. (7).
Monosodium L-Glutamate
Monosodium L-Glutamate (MSG) is from the amino acid family made in the body and abundant in foods.
It works as a chemical messenger helping to regulate other aminos, yet it also helps to maintain energy levels within the body.
Questions have been raised over the safety of monosodium l-glutamate. (8)
Glycine
Glycine is another amino acid compound in Amberen. Its function is to regulate the cell activity within the brain.
Majority of people naturally consume Glycine though food which is high in protein content. This includes fish, legumes, dairy and meat.
Glycine has been studied on its effects on sleep. The results showed that Glycine did improve sleep quality and efficacy. Furthermore, it was shown that it improves memory performance tasks and ‘clear headedness’ (9, 10).
Magnesium
Magnesium is the number 4 mineral in the body. It’s responsible for a wide range of functions, including: muscle relaxation, protein production, heart health, bone health, stabilizing blood pressure and maintaining blood sugars. (11)
Science says menopausal women have lower levels of magnesium.(12)
Energy production is another process this mineral gets involved with, it can help process macros like carbohydrates, protein and fats to be used as fuel. (13)
Zinc
Zinc is another essential mineral for the body which plays a big role in keeping your immune system in top condition.
This nutrient improves metabolism within the body. Furthermore, it functions to normalise fats and carbohydrates both of which aids the control of weight gain.
Zinc is important because it aids in growth and development and the synthesis and secretion of hormones and DNA.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a nutrient which makes your hair stronger, your skin healthier and can even improve your vision.
It’s also a natural antioxidant which helps reign in destructive free radicals and the effects of oxidative stress – restoring healthy cells in the body. This can also play its part in reducing severity of symptoms in menopausal women.
Vitamin E has a balancing effect on hormones and can also reduce the effects of hot flashes. (14).
Side Effects
Amberen claims no side effects have been recorded during their own clinical studies.
However, looking closer at the ingredients from a stand alone point of view, you could experience: fatigue, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
The reported side effects of monosodium l-glutamate (MSG) include: flushing, sweating, headaches, nausea and weakness. (15).
There is also the potential for interactions with prescription medication. Vitamin E for example can thin the blood which is a potential problem for women taking anticoagulants.
As with any supplement, if you start to feel any of the side effects, it is advisable to stop taking the capsules and seek medical advice.
Recommended Dosage
Amberen directions are as follows: take two capsules (one white and one orange) everyday after breakfast.
For the best results, Amberen advise a course of at least 90 days to maintain the hormonal balance.

By Dr Rosemary Leonard 00:00 BST 09 Oct 1993, updated 09:09 BST 24 Apr 2002 Facebook Twitter e-mail SMS WhatsApp 0 comments In allergic rhinitis, the lining of the nose becomes inflamed in response to breathing in certain substances, known as allergens. Often, as in your case, the throat is affected too. The most common allergens to cause rhinitis are pollens, which lead to the classic symptoms of hayfever in spring and early summer. Some unlucky people, though, like you, get rhinitis all the year round - a condition known as perennial rhinitis. The most common allergens that provoke perennial rhinitis are house dust mites, animal fur, feathers and mould spores (which, incidentally, are the also the most common causes of asthma). Skin prick testing can help to identify the worst culprits, so ask your doctor if this could be arranged for you. Meanwhile, replace pillows and duvets that contain feathers with ones filled with polyester, cover your mattress with a special anti-allergic cover, and don't let furry animals in your bedroom, or any rooms where there are soft furnishings. The best treatments for allergic rhinitis are steroid nasal sprays, such as Beconase or Flixonase, which help prevent the allergic response responsible for the inflammation. They must be used regularly, every day, for best effect, and you may have to continue with treatment for years. Anti-histamine tablets can help too - it's worth trying different brands to find which ones suits you best, then get a large supply on prescription from your GP. The most specific treatment for allergic rhinitis is immunotherapy. This involves repeated injections of a tiny amount of allergen, with the aim of desensitising your immune system. This type of treatment is only carried out in specialist clinics, as it can cause a sudden, severe allergic reaction. However, if your symptoms are severe, it would be worthwhile asking your GP for a referral.
