The young boy didn't expect her to come, if he's being honest. Since Gozaboru Kaiba passed away, Mokuba had cut off all contact with Lady Suzuha. It wasn't because he was grieving over the abusive man. No, it was because his focus had...shifted. He didn't want her to see him like this, to see him do what he thought he had to in order to regain what he lost...

His big brother's love...

Now that the puzzle of his big brother's heart had been broken due to the Penalty Game he suffered at Yugi Muto's hands, and his brother left in a coma for weeks now, everything had shifted. Mokuba was starting to act like himself again, as if he too had been consumed by the demon of games just like his older brother for the last half of a year. That was why he reached out to, really, his closest friend, to one of the only good things that being adopted by his stepfather had given him. And thankfully, she responded and hurried over quickly, overwhelmed with concern and worry herself after having heard the news about his brother's condition.

The two were in one of the many living spaces inside the mansion, arts and craft supplies spread all over the massive table in the middle. The two children often did this activity when they met up, this time being no different. He had something specific in mind that he wanted to do, something that had his immediate focus as he worked diligently on his project.

"M-Mokuba, dear?" The voice of the young lady pulled the youngest Kaiba out of his focus, purple hues staring at hers that could be seen above her signature pink fan. "Are you sure...this is what you called me over for? I-I mean, making arts and crafts with you is certainly a delight and one I rather missed. However, considering...recent events, I...I thought...I thought you called me over so that you could...have a trusted ear to talk about what happened..."

Her inquiry causes him to freeze in place, almost dropping the rope he had been working with. He should have figured this would happen. His friend was rather perceptive, not that Mokuba was any good at hiding his emotions to begin with. Unlike his older brother, he wore his heart on his sleeve for all to see, and she had seen right through him.

"I...I..."

"It's alright if you'd rather not discuss it. I...I know things are hard for you as it is right now. I simply wanted to express my own thoughts. If you simply want my company as we make artistic creations together like we always do, then that is alright. I am here for you today. No one else."

"...Thanks, Suzuha." Mokuba gives her a weak smile. He appreciates her understanding. It was true he did want to talk about it, but...not right now. Not when he had something he needed to finish first and his own thoughts and feelings together.

The room is filled again with silence as the two return to their work. While he worked on his project, she seemed to be painting a tea set of some sort. Perhaps it was a gift for Lord Amanosuzu. If that was the case, then they both had a similar idea in terms of what the purpose of making their crafts was.

As soon as he is about to put the finishing touches on his twin creations, he looks up as he notices Suzuha had gotten out of her chair and was above his shoulder, examining his work closely. "My, my! These are quite lovely, Mokuba dear! Are these for...you and your brother?"

"That's the idea...but I'm not sure if he will-" His words are cut short by the gentle gloved hand of the older young lady being placed on his shoulder, Suzuha's reassuring smile providing a comfort he had been lacking in his life for so long now; the smile of someone who cared about him deeply.

"Of course, he will like it! No, he'll love it! It's a handmade gift from you, his dear little brother! What sibling wouldn't adore such a thing filled with one's true feelings of brotherly love?"

"L-Love...?"

The word sounded so foreign escaping his lips, as if it was the first time he'd ever heard such a concept. His brother had told him brotherly love was a waste, something that only held one back. Those words stuck with him, even as he desperately tried anything and everything to get it from the older Kaiba since his spiral. That's why he had doubted even doing this in the first place, but yet he persisted anyway, creating something with his whole heart that was broken into many pieces by the events that had transpired.

Seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same, huh?

Before he can continue his response, he and she are both directed to the door. It then opens, revealing both one of the mansion staff and someone that caused both Suzuha and Mokuba's eyes to widen in surprise.

"Master Mokuba, Sorry to interrupt, but Officer Ryuenji is here to see you."

"Hey. Sorry for dropping in like this. I just wanted to make sure you were doing alright, Mokuba."

Before Mokuba can attempt to comment on the other's words, the ruby hues of the other focus on the other individual in the room. A hand goes over Tasuku chest as Mokuba watches him do a slight bow, like a prince would greeting a princess. "Lady Suzuha? Is that you? What a surprise! I did not expect to see you here today. I was not aware you and Mokuba knew each other."

"O-Oh! Y-Yes!" Mokuba's eyes widen just a bit at the sudden stammering in her voice, something he has never seen before from his friend. Suzuha whips out her fan, quickly covering the light blush forming in her cheeks with it. "We've been friends for years, T-Tasuku! Our fathers...were acquainted, and that's how we got introduced. My being here today is just one of many I've had with Mokuba dear over the years. I was not aware you were acquainted with him as well, but considering the celebrity that you are, I guess it's no surprise."

Mokuba and Tasuku both take a sigh of relief at her conclusion,both seemingly deciding to go along with it. Considering all the work Tasuku and the Buddy Police had done to keep the Death-T incident from going public, Suzuha becoming privy to it would put that in jeopardy. Not only that, Mokuba didn't want his friend to know his part of it, a part he felt like he had to do as a last-ditch effort to get the older Kaiba's attention at the time.

"Thanks for coming to check on me, Officer Ryuenji. I appreciate it."

"Please, just call me Tasuku. I think you and I are well acquainted enough to not speak so formally to one another."

Tasuku then took a seat, watching the two go back to their crafts as he did not want to intrude it seemed. It was a new thing for Mokuba to have 'friends over' like this, people who actively wanted to see him and were not trying to get anything out of him. It was...nice.

Was this...the feeling that comes from true friendship and unity with others? The very thing that Yugi seemed to have harnessed to beat his brother?

Mokuba then picks up the last part, the last piece, to his creation, the one item from the past he's treasured and preserved throughout the years. It was something he had clung to, a spark of hope he always held onto despite the darkness that came into his life. It was important to him, more than anyone including his brother, knew..until today that is.

"Mokuba? Is that...?" Tasuku questions, looking over along with Suzuha at the item the youngest in the room now held in his hands.

"Mhmm...It's an old picture of me and Seto before we were adopted by Gozaboru. We looked pretty different back then, huh?"

"You look the same to me, dear Mokuba. It is your brother who is the different one here. I..I have never seen Seto Kaiba...smile with such heart before. Not even during events we've both attended or any promotions I've seen. It's... polarizing, to put it mildly."

"Yeah...It was...a different time, a time before...all of this. That's why this picture is very dear to me, probably the most important thing I own now. And..."

Mokuba begins to do the unthinkable next, slowly starting to rip the photograph in two. His actions shock the other two in the room, both almost going to say something before he continues on and starts to place half of the picture into one of the lockets, precisely the half of the photograph he is featured in.

"I'm going to share it with him, share with Seto my most treasured memory, so that he will...come back to me someday."

Once he finishes the process with the other locket, the boy moves to leave the room, telling his guests he needs to do something. With that, he runs down the long corridors of the Kaiba Mansion, not stopping until he reaches the most guarded part of the house: his brother's chambers.

The maid moves aside to let him in, bringing Mokuba face-to-face with his brother for the first time in weeks. Just looking at him like this, in a coma and stuck in a wheelchair like a lifeless husk, pained him like nothing else. However, he pressed forward anyway, for he had something important to do.

"Big Brother...I...I don't know if you can hear me, but...I...I want to give you something, something to help guide you back to me...A piece of my heart..."

Mokuba then places one of the lockets he created, the one containing his own picture, around his brother's neck. He then puts the remaining one, the one containing Seto's picture, around his own neck, the boy then clenching it protectively like he was a dragon protecting a treasured gem. He can feel his heart start to ache and his body start to quake along with it, his emotions that he had been trying so hard to manage in order to stay strong finally taking over him.

Before he can realize it, his knees buckle, sending him down to the floor and his face into Seto's lap. Water flows from his eyes and land on the white fabric of his brother's clothing, his cries starting to echo throughout the mansion. His friends, immediately upon hearing it spring into action, both stopping in their tracks upon meeting the maid when having reached the entrance. The woman told them to leave the young master on his own for now, to allow him his feelings he's been holding in to come out freely without judgment.

"Mokuba..."

"Mokuba..."

And so the two listened and waited outside the door as Mokuba's cries continued for what seemed like forever, the cries being some of the most painful they'd ever heard. Little did they knew that this was not even close to displaying the amount of anguish the young boy felt, an anguish that had been building up for years upon years that all just spilled over the second his brother went into that coma. For he had been through so much, seen so much, all since that fateful day that changed everything for him and his older brother...

"Seto...Come back...Come back to me...Big brother...I...I miss you...I...I need you...I need you here with me...I don't know who I am without you...So, please...Please I'm begging you...Come home soon..."

The vibration from his pager in his pocket was sudden and out of nowhere, but he reacts to it as effortlessly as he did anything. Tasuku, along with Jack who was back in his card form, both move away from the other members of the Buddy Police that had gathered to arrest the criminal they both apprehended. His face shifts to one of concern as he presses the button in the center, immediately connecting the human to the youngest of the two Kaiba Brothers.

"Mokuba, are you okay?! Are you hurt at all?! What's your status?!"

"Tasuku...I'm...I'm okay. I'm not in danger or anything. I just...didn't want to contact you through...normal means."

"Oh..." He can feel his heart rate slow with that confirmation, but he still remains on edge. "Well, I'm glad you're not hurt. Didn't expect you to use the pager for a non-emergency, but that's no matter. It's clear you called me for a reason through these means. So, please. Say what you want to say. You...don't sound like yourself."

"Y-Yeah...I...I kinda have a big favor to ask of you."

"I see... Well, all you need to do is ask me, Mokuba. I'll do my best to help you in anyway I can. I promised you that the day we met, and that offer still stands now."

"Thanks, Tasuku."

The officer can hear Mokuba taking in a deep breath next. It was clear as day something was up. The way he was speaking now reminded him of how he was during the period his older brother was in a coma, when he was in agony over his brother's condition despite what Seto Kaiba had done to him. He was a caring and loving soul, Tasuku knew that much to be true.

"I...I wanted to ask if I could...stay with you for a while? I...I need some time away from my house, away from...away from..."

"You don't need to say it. I already can understand what probably happened. In any case, you're more than welcome to stay at my place for as long as you need. It's no trouble at all."

"A-Are you sure? I wouldn't...be burdening you at all? I know how busy you are with your work."

"Of course not. Friends and family are never burdens." He makes sure to emphasize that for him before continuing. "And while I'm an important part of the Buddy Police, I'm not the only officer on duty. Besides, Mr.Takihara was going to have me go on forced vacation for a few weeks now that the Rare Hunter situation is handled anyway. So, it really is no trouble at all."

Ruby hues widen once the sounds of sobbing reach his ears. The sounds of crying where among his least favorite noises, but not because he found it irritating. Crying often was a signal someone was in pain. Pain was a form of suffering, and as someone who wanted to rid the world, especially children, of suffering, hearing it made his heart ache and his ranger towards his assumed source of it grow.

"How...How dare he..."

The thoughts echo in his mind as he clenches his free hand, it shaking in his righteous anger. Seto Kaiba was already someone he didn't exactly like for several reasons, but to think he'd do something again to hurt his brother after the stunt he pulled at Death-T? Did he really learn nothing after almost losing everything?

Whenever he runs into that bastard again, he's going to give him a personal taste of Tasuku's own brand of justice. No one, no matter who you are or what the circumstances, should treat the only family they cherish in such a horrible way. He didn't even need to know the full details to know just how bad the situation was. Mokuba's tears he can hear through the speaker spoke volumes.

"It's going to be alright, Mokuba. I'm going to help you get through whatever it is that's troubling you. Just stay strong until I see you, okay? Know you're not alone."

"...T-Thank...T-Thank you...C-Can we meet at...the park?"

"Sure, no problem. Jack and I will meet you there. He can carry you back to my place. You did say you always wanted to fly on a dragon, right?" Jack normally wouldn't be too comfortable carrying someone on his back, but considering the circumstances, even Tasuku knows his Buddy wouldn't turn this down. The dragon cared for the young boy just as he did, after all.

"Mhmm. S-See you soon."

"See you soon. Be careful."

The transmission ends and his hand falls to his side. His teeth gritt in frustration, his breaths almost sounding like a dragon's growl. Despite his politeness and warm smile he tried to maintain as a part of his professionalism, he was still a rather emotional person. He felt thing so intensely, so deeply, that they threatened to consume his actions. And his emotions right now were screaming at him to go down to the Kaiba Mansion and personally give Seto Kaiba a piece of his mind.

It's at that moment when he feels a warmth and sees a glow coming from his chest. Tasuku knows right away it was his Buddy calling out to him, no doubt sensing his emotions. He puts his hand over the pocket where Jack's card was stored, closing his eyes as he moves to communicate with him telepathically.

"Tasuku... I understand your feelings toward the situation. You are not wrong to feel how you do. Your righteous heart of justice always cries out at the suffering of others, especially those you are close to. However, if you wish to truly help your friend with the emotional troubles he is facing, then you must calm yourself first. If you are consumed by your anger, then you won't be able to help anyone. Your friend is counting on you right now. Do you understand what I am saying?"

In situations like this, Jack really acted like his own consciousness. Everything he was saying was absolutely correct. Getting upset now would not help the situation. It would probably make it worse than anything. Mokuba was his priority right now, not his brother. All his focus should be put into making sure the younger Kaiba was safe and taken care of. In a way, he's to assume the role of an older brother for the time being, the role at this very moment Tasuku thought Seto Kaiba didn't deserve at this moment. And it's a role he will not fail at for the sake of his friend who reached out to him desperately, a friend who needed him and wanted his aid.

He would not fail.

"I...I understand, Jack. I know what must be done." He takes a deep breath then, trying to steel himself before he makes his next move. Tasuku reaches into his pocket to remove his Buddy's cards, holding it up into the air as he prepares for their departure. "Let's go to work."

With that, Jack's card glows, the dragon manifesting in his mini-form before the human. Tasuku grabs his deckcase, the Star Pulsar, from his pocket and shows it to the other. The red gem in the yellow case's center resonates with a golden glow of Jack's eyes, the deckcase eventually transforming into its true form, that of a yellow drone with four points sticking out of it.

"BUDDY SKILL ON."

The technological voice from his device is soon followed by a light burst of wind as Jack's Buddy Skill makes itself known. Two green rings appear at the boy's heels, their power causing him to start floating in the air. Once airborne, he wastes no time flying straight into the clouds towards his destination, with Jack soaring at his side.

It is during this flight that he informs his legal guardian of the situation. Mr.Takihara, being the kind of person he was, had a soft spot for children. So, of course he was okay with the idea. Tasuku had his own apartment joined with his, anyway. It was up to him how he managed the one-bedroom space. He gave the boy that kind of trust as if he were an adult.

Within minutes, the pair made it to the park. They sit on a nearby bench as they wait for the younger Kaiba to appear, Tasuku getting anxious as the minutes pass. Would he get there safely? Should he have just gotten him? What if he got mugged on the way here? All these thoughts rushed through his mind, and he was debating about going, until he hears footsteps approach and Mokuba comes into view at long last.

"Hey, Mokuba. Glad you got here safe."

He offers the young boy a warm smile he hopes will offer him some comfort and relief. Ruby hues observe the other's response, Mokuba providing only a small nod. The bag he was carrying with him was quickly noticed as well. Seems he brought things with him. Good. It be difficult to be away from home without some of your personal items, after all.

"Got everything you-"

Mokuba then approaches the Buddy Police Boy Wonder, Tasuku remaining still as he watches on. It is then that Mokuba slowly moves up his hands until they find themselves wrapped around the older boy's waist, the other's head resting on his shoulder pad. Before he can make a response, he freezes in place at the all too painful sound of crying reaching his ears for the second time tonight.

Tasuku responds soon enough, wrapping his own arms around the boy and providing gentle pats on his back. This is not his first go around comforting a crying child. It was something he, unfortunately, had plenty of experience with, considering his line of work. Children were often targets of game-related crimes, but that was part of why he did what he did, to protect those who could not protect themselves. It was his life's mission and one he continues to get stronger for.

"Mokuba...Don't worry. It's all going to be alright. Have faith in me, Jack, and your friends to help you. We'll be right there by your side to help you through this. I promise."

His grip on the boy tightens slightly then, a physical confirmation of his promise. He was going to care for Mokuba as if he were his brother, just as he would do for Gao or any of his friends should they need it. The selfless boy who was too desperate to become an adult would always shoulder the burden of those around him, being their rock when they needed it most...even at the cost of himself.

"Now, let's get going. You must be exhausted after everything." The Buddy Police officer speaks up once he hears the sound of the sobbing decrease, gently letting go of Mokuba and directing him towards Jack who was now in his true form. He lowers his body to the ground, allowing Mokuba to climb on his back safely. Tasuku will be sure to thank Jack for allowing this to happen, considering he was not a fan of being ridden.

Once secured, the three then soar into the air and into the clouds, leaving the town of Domino behind for the neighboring city of Cho-Tokyo, a place where Seto Kaiba had no power in. Hopefully, this change of scenery would help his friend recover from the emotional wounds inflicted on him, wounds that he should have never been inflicted on one so young, so innocent...like Mokuba Kaiba.

Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters Verse Info For Gao, Tasuku, and Suzuha

(Note: These verses are written in the context of the events of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga by Kazuki Takahashi, and do connect directly to the canon of my Mokuba specifically. However, they can be easily adapted or written to not include connections to Mokuba and or adapted to fit the Anime's story. In addition, the inclusion of these characters in the storyline of my Mokuba does not have to be present in any interactions had with Mokuba either. These are meant to be a basis/starting point for interactions not a end-all be-all. I am flexible and this can all be discussed at the individual level.)

General Set-Up That Applies To All Three

The Game of Buddyfight

In the world of Yu-Gi-Oh!, games are a way of life and have a deep history in the world itself. They help connect and bring people together, whether it's for fun, recreation, or to decide the fate of the world. The world has tons of popular games, and one of the new and upcoming games is known as Buddyfight, a game with many similarities to that of the popular Duel Monsters game created by Maximillion Pegasus.

The game was created by one of the many companies under the famous Amanosuzu Group. This conglomerate is headed by Lord Amanosuzu and will be inherited one day by his daughter, Lady Suzuha Amanosuzu. The game was developed around the same time as Duel Monsters tailored mainly for the market of children, but has grown to be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is more of a niche game title compared to the worldwide phenomenon of Pegasus' creation, but it is still enjoyed by many people.

Much like Duel Monsters, the game has a connection to the supernatural, but the creators did not know this at the time of creation. It is connected to a series of parallel worlds (Dragon World, Star Dragon World, Darkness Dragon World, Magic World, Dungeon World, Hero World, Ancient World, Danger World, Legend World, Katana World, & Lost World) where creatures of all sorts reside. The first connection between the two worlds began when a young boy known as the 'Boy of Destiny' that had lost everything was reached out to by the heir to the noble Jackknife clan of Dragon World, who was destined to be the boy's protector. For this 'Boy of Destiny' was fated to save the world and protect the future.

The existence of this connection is not made public, and to almost everyone on Earth, Buddyfight cards are just cards used for a game. However, as the bonds between players and their monsters become stronger, so does the potential for more connections between these worlds to be formed.

The Buddy Police

Initially started in the coastal city of Cho-Tokyo but has since expanded to other regions of the world, the Buddy Police is a police force specially tasked with dealing with gaming-related crimes. These crimes can include something as common as cheating in official gaming events, to something rare and horrific like having underground death games. They are both their own force of authority, but do work with local law enforcement often.

The key members of the force include its commander Commander I, its intelligence officer Stella Watson, its chief officer Tsurgi Takihara, and their special field agent, the Buddy Police Boy Wonder aka Tasuku Ryuenji. They fight to uphold justice and protect the people, especially children who are more often than not victims in crimes.

Recent reports of a large amount of death games being played in the nearby city of Domino in Japan have forced the Buddy Police to take action. They have sent their chief officer and the Buddy Police Boy Wonder to investigate the situation and gather intel undercover, not knowing that the games being played here were no ordinary death games that they have experienced. Supernatural forces were involved, forces that have a history spanning back to 3000 years ago in ancient Egypt.

Story Description

Gao Mikado attends Aibo Academy, a Pre K-12 school sponsored by the Amonosuzu Group located in Domino City. There he is a member of the special Buddyfight course, a course that allows him to focus on building his skills in the game of Buddyfight in addition to regular schooling education. He is a relative newcomer to the game itself, only starting when he began 6th grade, but has taken up to it very fast and has been known as 'Dumb Luck Gao' around the school grounds after his miraculous defeat of famous prodigy, Tasuku Ryuenji during his very first game.

He is not only good at Buddyfighting, but is also a national champion at Aiki-jujutsu martial arts, even competing against adults. He helps his mother out in their family dojo sometimes with running classes for the community, such as a self-defense class. He also has been an instructor for self-defense and other martial-arts related elective courses at Aibo.

Gao loves to hit up the local arcade and card shop scene when he's not in school or training, always looking for an interesting challenge. It was at this arcade that he met Mokuba Kaiba, and became fast friends with him. The youngest Kaiba brother even taught him Capsule Monsters Chess, as well as Duel Monsters. In return, Gao and his mother teach him self-defense.

Gao, aside from being known for beating Tasuku, is known locally as the Mighty Fun Fighter, a fighter who is known to beat up bullies and protect the weak. He has a passion for fighting just as much as he does Buddyfighting, but is not the type to physically hurt people with his skills. He will not hesitate to fight if needed.

Gao is the second person to make a Buddy Contract with a monster on Earth. Unlike other humans, over time he eventually makes connections with three very different dragons, Drum, Bal, and Batzz, who all share the title of his Buddy. His best friend Baku has created separate decks for each one, as well as a deck for all three as well. Any of them can grant Gao their power via a Buddy Skill, which manifests as a sub-themed skin-board Gao uses to fly around and get from place to place.

Story Description

Tasuku Ryuenji is a member of the Buddy Police and a Buddyfight Prodigy known as the 'Prince of Buddyfight'. At the age of 9, his family passed away in a huge natural event known as the 'Disaster", leaving him alone and stranded in a mountain range for three days. During that time, he realized his own powerlessness as a child and wished to become an adult in order to help those who cannot help themselves, and that desire resonated with a being from another world, Jackknife Dragon Findar The 100th. Jack came to Tasuku in the form of a Buddyfight card, and manifested his true form in order to shield and protect Tasuku from the elements until he was found by civilization. It was after his rescue that he joined the Buddy Police and was taken in by Mr. Takihara.

In addition to being the first human to connect with and form a contract with a Buddy Monster, Tasuku also possesses a power known as the Future Force. This power, one that comes from his future self, is accessed through Tasuku's Buddyfight deckcase, the Star Pulsar. With it, he is able to make the power of his cards into reality, a power he uses only in extreme circumstances. He can also gain the power of flight in the form of two green rings on his feet through Jack's own power, aka his Buddy Skill.

This power and Jack's existence are kept a secret. Only those in the Buddy Police, Mokuba Kaiba, Gao Mikado, and Lady Suzuha are privy to this sensitive information, and Tasuku wishes to keep it that way. Jack disguises himself either in his card form or through the form of a plushie. He can communicate with Tasuku telepathically in these forms if needed.

He is sent to Aibo Academy as a student as a coverup to investigate the increasing game-related crimes and gather information. It was through this that he met Gao Mikado and became good friends with him, including offering to be his first opponent in Buddyfight. He has a history with Lady Suzuha not only due to being 7th grade classmates, but also due to her family's company creating the game and him being often asked to help promote it.

Tasuku's first major act since coming to Domino was his direct involvement in the aftermath of the Death-T incident at Kaiba Corporation. It was there he met Mokuba Kaiba, who he helped during the period of his brother being in a coma. It was because of meeting Mokuba and hearing the full story (including what Kaiba's real dream is) that Tasuku ultimately decided to not press charges on Kaiba Corporation for their death games, the younger Kaiba's insistance his real brother will come back to him one day just as Yugi Muto had promised him he would. Though, Tasuku wants to meet Seto Kaiba himself, to gauge with his own eyes whether what he experienced at the hands of Yugi was enough justice and to determine what kind of man he is to become.

Story Description

Lady Suzuha is the only daughter of the famous Amanosuzu Family, owners of the Amanosuzu Group, a huge conglomerate consisting of many companies across various industries such as gaming, mining, construction, and more. She is a rather elegant and savvy young lady, always able to see an opportunity when she sees one. She is a 7th-grade student at Aibo Academy and a member of the special Buddyfight course for her grade. She also partakes in extracurriculars relating to business, charity, and the arts as well.

The game of Buddyfight was her own buisness venture. Everything related to it is handled by her and her assistants of the Amanosuzu Group. However, Lady Suzuha was not the individual who made the game itself, rather saw its potential and decided to take a risk on it, which turned out well in the end.

Being someone of high status and someone of influence in the business and gaming worlds, Lady Suzuha has, of course, powerful connections in those spaces. One of those connections is with the Kaiba Family. She met Mokuba Kaiba at a business event hosted by the previous head of Kaiba Corporation, Gozaboru Kaiba and that connection she later used to try and form a business relationship with the company once Seto Kaiba became president, but eventually became a good friend to Mokuba in her own right. She and him often participate in arts and crafts and chess together, with her even being present when Mokuba made the lockets for himself and his brother.

Random Assortment of Hedcanons for Mokuba and some of his Friend Squad

Mokuba (TW For HC 1 and 2: Mental Health / PTSD, TW For HC 8: Mention of Death.)

Mokuba's was referred to his current therapist, Child Psychiatrist Dr. Ai Fujita (A NPC created by me for my Mokuba/his friend's lore specifically), by Tasuku after their initial meeting post-Death-T. She currently practices in Cho-Tokyo, home of Tasuku's sector of the Buddy Police, and has worked closely with the children of those affected by the crimes the Buddy Police handles for years. Mokuba started to attend therapy regularly (weekly to start, but this was reduced down to monthly by the time he is a teenager) following Battle City (Such as the period of time my confrontation thread with @shacchou takes place in) and does so via Telehealth.

Dr. Fujita officially diagnosed Mokuba with PTSD upon official assessment and intake procedures completion. He was not prescribed any medication. However, she recommends for him to consider having a trained service animal such as a cat or a dog to help him with his PTSD-induced nightmares and other symptoms.

Mokuba learns how to play Buddyfight from Gao and the others and plays a Dragon World deck to start, focusing on Armordragons much like Gao and Tasuku. Though, he would switch over to Star Dragon World once that becomes more widespread, using a Neodragon Crossnize deck like Tasuku's.

He plays dragon-themed decks for Duel Monsters, inspired by his brother's own deck. His fav card to use is Kidmodo Dragon.

Mokuba's traveled to some of the Buddyfight parallel worlds either through his friends or a field trip after he started attending Aibo Academy. He loved Hero World the most.

I like to think the 'Kaibaman' Duel Monsters card was something Mokuba came up with, because his big brother is his hero. So naturally, it would make to visualize him as a super hero and make a card based off the idea. I can totally see him make some sort of agreement with Industrial Illusions without his brother knowing and then presenting it to him as a gift (Perhaps a birthday gift).

In relation to his friend squad, Mokuba is the most similar to Gao and finds him very inspiring, he trusts Tasuku the most and unconsciously sees him as another older brother figure in his life, and is the closest to Suzuha and hangs out with her the most.

In the distant future, when Gao and his eventual partner Paruko get married and eventually have their two children (Yuga and Haru), Mokuba 100% is their unofficial uncle (Much like Tasuku is) and spoils those two kids rotten. And considering Yuga is a video content creator/streamer who loves taking on game challenges with a pretty big following (and being the son of Buddyfight's current World Champion, aka Gao), I can see him being the perfect person to collaborate and market some of Kaiba Corp's products, especially those targeted at children.

Mokuba visits his birth parent's graves once a year. He asks Seto to join him, but does not expect him to. He always brings flowers and 'talks to them' about how he's been.

Mokuba does make friends with pretty much all of Gao's friends at some point. Though, he is closest still to Gao, Tasuku, and Suzuha out of anyone. He would 100% make them a locket similar to his and his brothers, but with a Buddyfight card design and a group photo of them inside, perhaps as a graduation gift. He'd wear his in addition to his and Seto's.

As stated in a previous post, Mokuba's orientation is demi. He does not get attracted to anyone romantically until he forms a strong emotional bond with someone. In addition, his playful antics some people (like at school) mistake it for flirting, and as such, he has a lot of admirers and gets notes in his locker all the time (especially around Valentine's Day)

Gao & His Three Buddies (Drum, Bal, & Batzz)

Gao's initial Buddy Monster is Drum Bunker Dragon, and he met Drum during the time period of Battle City. However, he eventually comes into contact with Bal and Batzz (his other two Buddy monsters he meets in canon), and eventually, signs Buddy Contracts with all three of them. So, he has three Buddy Monsters (Plus Chibi Panda as he is a plus one for Batzz) living and fighting alongside him throughout his life (Drum nor Bal leave Gao like they do in canon).

Of Gao's three buddies, Mokuba gets along with Bal the most. Bal adores Mokuba. They become total besties, much to Gao's delight. Bal sometimes even asks to sleep over at Mokuba's house or vise versa (Good luck Seto having a literal baby dragon in your house LMFAO). Very wholesome bond. They would 100% try to make pizza (Bal's fav food) and probably make a huge mess cause both cannot cook to save their life. He also has let Mokuba fight alongside him and use his Sundragons for fun, and Gao supports this.

Gao, much like in canon, takes place in the WBC (World Buddy Cup) tournament and takes the crown, becoming the number one Buddyfighter in the entire world. He holds this title even into his adult world. He also competes in other tournaments such as the ABC Cup like he does in canon as well, but I am still figuring out all of the canon events that apply to this verse.

As stated above, Gao does marry Paruko in this verse and have his two sons, Yuga and Haru. Yuga was born when Gao was 23, as per canon. However, he does not move to America to teach his family's style of martial arts. He grows the style right here in Japan while his mother and the other family members grow it in the West, meaning he has a much more active role in the lives of his kids and his friends. This also means he does not move to America like he does in canon, but he does visit there from time to time.

Gao would 100% volunteer to test any new Kaiba Corp products. He may be a Buddyfighter, but he is always up for a fun challenge. He'd also expand his self-defense teachings to the company, should they request his aid.

Gao invites Mokuba over for sleepovers sometimes, and his family invites both Mokuba AND Seto over for dinner. They're just that kind of family.

Gao would vibe so well with Jounouchi and would totally try to teach him how to amp up his physical combat skills using his Akijijitsu martial arts.

Gao and Mokuba got a secret handshake and it's the cutest thing ever.

He shares his brother's Mighty Sun Fighter comics with Mokuba, and that becomes a nice bonding thing for them. Mokuba would tell his brother all about the comic's stories. Perhaps seeing that could inspire the image of 'Kaibaman' that I discussed earlier.

Gao thinks Seto is as cool as Mokuba says he is, and really admires his strength as a duelist.

As stated in a previous post, Gao's orientation is pan. His romantic attraction is not defined by someone's sex or gender. However, he is pretty dense overall when it comes to romance and misses romantic cues often.

Tasuku & Jack (TW For HC 11: Mental Health / PTSD /Mention of Death.)

Of the friend group, Tasuku and Jack more often play the role of dad friends than anything else. They're more than often the responsible ones and the ones first to defend the group if needed.

Much like in canon, Tasuku when he grows up does take over for Commander I as the official head of the Buddy Police in Cho-Tokyo (His title is officially Commissioner). He is working not in the field much anymore, but rather oversees overall operations, training and development. He is put onto very huge and potentially dangerous cases however, such as anything on a large scale.

Tasuku regularly checks in on Mokuba, as he does with everyone he's close to. He wants to make sure the kids doing alright, and offers his aid if needed.

I do not think he will fully 100% ever like Seto Kaiba (and I'm pretty sure that feeling would be mutual on Seto's part. But then again, tons of people got issues with Seto let's be real, LOL), but I do think he will come to a somewhat of an understanding about him (Especially by the time he's a teenager/young adult) and will work with him if needed. I like to think he does respect though, if nothing else, his strength as a duelist, work ethic, determination to reach his goals, love for Mokuba (once he understands how he shows that love), and his noble reasons for opening Kaibalands around the world. He thinks he'd be a good Buddyfighter too if he ever tried out the game, specifically as a user of Ancient World or Star Dragon World.

Tasuku does train in Dragon World much like in canon and passes his training with Armor Diety Dynamis. Though, the contents of that trial are still up in the air as I am debating whether or not Tasuku becoming Purgatory Knight is a thing in this verse or not. It's such an important part of Tasuku's character arc in general (Like how Death-T and it's aftermath is for so many of the YGO cast), but getting to that point would require a lot of circumstances I do not know how to fit into this verse well (getting forcibly fired by the buddy police, the buddy police being corrupted, being manipulated, a grand event to make him use gold ritter and team up with Demios, etc. It's why I have yet to include it in any au that's not canon adjacent. It's so hard to set up.). I am open to trying to plot a way to include it, as Purgatory Knight Tasuku is always interesting to write. (It would break Mokuba's heart though ;;;;). He, following that completion of his training, will obtain Star Dragon World and Jack will change into a Neodragon. It an also not sure if Jack will get his time jump abilities he gets with this upgrade either like he has in canon, but it be interesting to play with as it lets him and others time travel basically.

Jack, much like in canon, eventually becomes so recognized by the public as Tasuku's Buddy he doesn't need to hide himself in his card form. Though, he prefers his big form to his mini form still, but is seen in his mini form most often.

Once Buddyfight becomes more mainstream, the Buddy Police becomes much like it is in canon, focusing both on stopping game-related crimes (9/10 at this point it is Buddyfight related) in addition to handling the Buddy Monster contract system and distribution of Core Deck Cases through the Buddy Card Office.

Tasuku (and Mokuba too for that matter) are allowed certain days during the school week where they can come in half day due to their work circumstances. Tasuku and Jack will personally pick up Mokuba from HQ and take him to school. They also will take him to his home if asked.

Jack (and this goes for other Buddy Monsters too) are able to see Duel Monsters spirits and communicate with them.

Mokuba invites Tasuku to the opening ceremony of Kaibaland, and Tasuku is touched by the sentiment.

Much like in his canon verse, my Tasuku has little to no memories of his life prior to losing his parents. This is because of him unintentionally repressing them as a PTSD response (Yes, he is also diagnosed with PTSD and was diagnosed by Dr. Fujita). It is something, once he realizes it, regrets because while he is looking to the future, he wishes he could remember more about his parents, especially after hearing Mokuba talk about how much he misses his own parents.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Verse Headcanons/Ideas (Battle City Arc)

During Battle City, I imagine the Buddy Police are all over the city for two main reasons. The first is due to intelligence they've gathered regarding that the 'Ghouls' / 'Rare Hunters', notorious card criminals they've been trying to apprehend for a while now, have infiltrated the tournament. The second is because specifically that Seto Kaiba is running the tournament. Considering the Death-T incident, they've had their eye on his activity, especially Tasuku due to being Mokuba's friend. They want to make sure that the tournament is going to be safe and would be prepared to shut it down if needed.

Ghouls / Rare Hunters would probably go after him because even though it's not Duel Monsters, Jack is a one-of-a-kind Buddy Rare card that would fetch a high price. Not to mention I imagine the Buddy Police (since they've become a more international organization by this point), is a thorn in the sides of them they'd want to get rid of.

I imagine right after the Yugi v Jonouchi duel, if Tasuku was a witness, he'd try to shut down the tournament right then and there. In his eyes, the tournament would be too unsafe to continue until the criminals are arrested properly, which we know Seto would not like due to the fact if Marik / Malik was arrested, then he would never get his hands on Ra.

I like to think Ishizu / Isis or Yugi & Atem would be the only ones to get Tausku to let the tournament continue, since he is unaware of the true context of what needs to happen (For the plot and personal character-wise). He'd be hesitant to allow it, but I could see Jack, while in agreement with Tasuku, would say in his ancient wisdom that there are some things that just need to happen.

Tasuku would check up on Mokuba throughout the tournament (So would Gao too for that matter), and I could see them getting into a confrontation with the Ghouls / Rare Hunters (perhaps when Mokuba is sent to find Jonouchi, since in the manga he was not kidnapped like in the anime) where Tasuku perhaps reveals his Future Force to both Gao and Mokuba for the first time. I could also see it being revealed if he got to the Yugi V Jonouchi duel and was involved in stopping it (whether it's by him freeing Mokuba instead of Seto throwing his Blue Eyes or by helping to rescue Yugi or Jonouchi following being drowned).

He'd probably be a witness to the tournament finals, whether it's by being allowed to stay and watch (Perhaps Mokuba asks his brother if he can) or he follows them in secret using Jack's Buddy Skill and tracking Mokuba's Cell Phone.

He'd scold Seto for blowing up Alcatraz, not only because of the risk involved, but also because it was, in his mind, not necessary.

Following the tournament, he would make sure the Ghouls / Rare Hunters are disbanded for good and use any information from Marik / Malik to stop any other crime organizations they may be associated with.

The gentle and soothing singing voice of his friend was pleasant on the young boy's ears. Never in a million years did he think Tasuku had such a hidden talent, and yet here he is listening to him sing a song from the heart just to try and help him feel better. Then again, the Buddy Police Boy Wonder was good at a lot of things: Buddyfighting, school, investigating; just to name a few. So, him being good at yet another thing shouldn't be too surprising by this point to Mokuba.

He really was just like...Seto, wasn't he?

Drawing those comparisons between Tasuku and his brother was what the young boy had begun to do unconsciously since their initial meeting, but such things slowly became more and more common as he spent more time here. In fact, even now as he sits there listening to the other sing his tune, he can't help but visualize a younger Seto there soothing him instead, despite the fact Mokuba's never heard his brother ever sing before in his life.

Yes, the pre-teen seemed to embody the positive qualities that Mokuba associated with his elder brother from the past: warmth, gentleness, selflessness, compassion, happiness, protectiveness, honesty; all of those things he saw in Tasuku. Perhaps it was those qualities in him that had drawn the younger boy to seek out his help specifically during this time. After all, this entire situation came about because of his own feelings regarding the past, a past he can't seem to stop trying to chase despite promises of a prosperous future.

Such feelings did not change ever since being here. In truth, being around the blue-haired boy just made them stronger, the younger Kaiba feeling a semblance of what was lost the day he and his older brother were adopted. That just spoke though to a simple fact, a fact the boy knew deep down but did not want to admit to himself: that Mokuba had not yet fully accepted in his heart who his brother was today, in spite of their improved relations after Duelist Kingdom.

Mokuba wasn't so naive as to think that neither him or Seto wouldn't change over time. That would be nonsensical, especially considering the circumstances of their lives since becoming Kaiba's. No, what Mokuba couldn't seem to comprehend, and felt frustration and sadness towards, was why his brother was still...well...a stick in the mud, to put it nicely, long after their stepfather was gone.

From his viewpoint, that man was the sole reason for Seto's major shift in demeanor. So why did he have to keep acting so cold and grumpy now? Like he wasn't looking forward to the future he had been preparing for them all this time? The question went unanswered in his mind, no matter how much he tried to come up with an answer.

It had taken Mokuba some time to regain his own true smile after everything that's happened, no part in short thanks to Yugi's crew and his own he managed to make. He wants the same for his brother, to heal past the pain of Gozaboru's tryannny and be able to be as happy as he was prior to it. That selfless desire that seemed so far out of reach was a key part of why he was so hurt. He felt like his brother was just keeping himself miserable needlessly, overworking himself to death and isolating himself from and rejecting anyone who dare try to add some happiness into his life.

He just wanted his brother to be happy again like he was before, to play with games again truly for the fun of it and not in pursuit of revenge or victory. Was that so wrong to wish? To wish his brother could try to start to heal after the suffering they both went through, like Mokuba had?

Clearly, that sentiment was wrong. Otherwise, the elder Kaiba wouldn't have rejected his feelings that night so fiercely. In spite of his good intentions, Mokuba's feelings were burdening his brother, trying to drag him to a place he didn't want to go near for reasons not understood. It's something he's felt since a young age and seen time and time again to the point where he questions whether his inclusion in Seto's life was ever a good thing.

If Mokuba wasn't around, then his brother no doubt would have been adopted quickly and potentially not by a monster like Gozaboru.

If Mokuba wasn't around, his brother wouldn't have had to fight so hard to protect and care for him all the time, to secure a future for them both when securing one for a genius like him alone would have been easier.

If Mokuba wasn't around...perhaps he never would have lost his smile to begin with.

The very thought causes tears to come from his purple eyes, syncing up with the end of Tasuku's sweet song. His breaths came out shaky, unable to stop the floodgates from flowing. Without needing to think, his hands move to clasp the pair of lockets around his neck, as if he would die without doing so.

"Why...? Why?! Why am I such a burden?! Such a bad brother?!"

His voice echoed throughout the small apartment room, his voice portraying the inner pain he felt akin to being kicked in the gutts. Why did he have to follow Gao's advice? Why did he have to speak his mind and say such hurtful things? Why didn't he just let things be as they are despite wanting so much more, like he's done before? Why did he do something that would risk his staying in his brother's life?!

Perhaps taking that risk was why Seto had yet to contact him since he left. Because maybe he felt the same thing Mokuba was starting to think: that he didn't want him to come back. That way, his brother wouldn't have to entertain the younger boy's 'nonsense' anymore, and he could live his life without being reminded of the past he clearly was repulsed by.

Maybe...things were better off this way, after all...

"Mokie Mokuba."

The all-too-familiar voice reaches his ears, and an all-too-familiar touch can be felt on his shoulders. Mokuba opened his teary eyes slowly in response. In front of him, with his vision blurred by the water, he...saw him. He saw his brother, but not the one of the past, but of the present.

Did he come here to see him? Did he come here to take him home? Did he come here because...he still loved him?

"S...eto...?"

"You're not..."

"A burden or a bad brother." The illusion Mokuba's mind had created shattered with Tasuku's next words, as gentle as they were. The young Kaiba was now thrust again into reality, purple hues glancing up at his friend who had been the one speaking the whole time. Seems like his mind and heart were continuing to play tricks on him.

How cruel.

"Listen to me. You've done nothing wrong. It's your brother who has. Don't blame yourself for his mistakes." Mokuba is then pulled into the other's arms, him being comforted by Tasuku's warmth. "Never think you can't express how you're feeling or that it's wrong to feel how you do, no matter who tells you."

The embrace lasted as long as he needed to calm himself. After having cried himself to death, the older kid lets go, gently standing up from his position of sitting next to the boy in order to gently try and guide Mokuba to lie down once again. Once he is set, he watches Tasuku grab the blankets, scattered at the bottom of the bed, and attempts to tuck him back in, not realizing his method of tucking was not to Mokuba's preference (it was too tight). Still, the young Kaiba didn't voice anything to the contrary, for he had lost his voice from all that crying.

"Now, try to get some rest, okay? Gao is coming over tomorrow. He said he wants to have a game of Capsule Monsters with you. I'm sure you two will have a blast." Tasuku then moves to the door's exit, Mokuba glancing over at the soft smile he can see through the light coming from the rest of the apartment. "Sleep well, Mokuba. And if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me or Jack. We're here for you."

The door then closes, leaving Mokuba alone in the room whose only light source was a nightlight Tasuku had gotten for him. He reaches for his Blue-Eyes plush, hugging it tightly for support. It's then he reaches with one of his arms to open his own locket, staring at the picture of Seto inside intensely until he passes out from emotional and physical exhaustion.

It's a phrase he's heard before. Over his almost 4-year journey as a Buddy Police officer, he's encountered criminals like Marik Ishtar repeatedly, the type of people who use others to shield and protect themselves. In Tasuku's eyes, there was nothing more cowardly one could do than that.

Though, he's certainly never encountered a situation exactly this. Jack had sensed something off about this Rare Hunter in particular that became immediately apparent to Tasuku once the glowing yellow eye, one that resembled the eye on the pendent Yugi Muto possessed, appeared on the criminal's forehead. Turns out the leader of the organization had some kind of mind control power, one that was different in nature than his Future Force. Seems like that might explain why they were able to make so many robberies and grow in power so quickly, including stealing two of the three Egyptian God Cards that were sealed away by a group in Egypt for unknown reasons.

Whatever he might be facing, it didn't change things for him one bit. The Buddy cop would continue as he always did when dealing with criminals, not giving an inch till they were secured and put behind bars. And if things do get intense? Well, if he needs to, he can bring out Jack, his Buddy Skill, or the Future Force. He was well equipped to face a supernaturally powered opponent, even if this would be the first time he's faced such a person ever in his career.

"Only cowards hide their true face behind others as if they are nothing more than tools. The fact you've taken your subordinates mind over just further shows to me your cowardice, Marik Ishtar." He retorts, his ruby hues glaring into the eyes of the other's mind puppet. "Mark my words, once we find your location, you and your Rare Hunters will pay for all the crimes you committed! The blade of justice will always terminate evil!"

The Future Force & The Millenium Items: How Would They Clash?

Note: In canon, Gao can harness the Future Force as well, but he cannot do it on command like Tasuku can and has only used it for the most part during Buddyfights (because plot). Though, I am unsure if I will have him get this power in his Yu-Gi-Oh! DM verse or not, since I am still deciding what 'canon' Buddyfight events can reasonably happen for this verse. So, we'll just focus on it in the context of Tasuku for now.

The Future Force, as I've described before such as on this post, is a power Tasuku possesses that allows him to manifest the power of Buddyfight cards into physical reality. The cards can be any cards he has access to, not just the ones in his own deck. It can be accessed through any 'Core Gadget', aka a Buddyfight Deck case / Duel Disk Equivalent that he is holding, but of course, he channels it the majority of the time through his own, the Star Pulsar. It manifests in his hair growing out long, a visual presentation of the power coming from another time flowing through him. He does not physically age using this power, however.

This power comes from his Future Self in the most literal sense. While we do not know the specifics of the power's origins or how Tasuku acquired it, we do know that according to Buddyfight Lore, if there is not a Tasuku alive in the future of the time period he is present in, he cannot use the power whatsoever (Buddyfight 100 shows this plainly when they travel to the future.). I like to think it comes from the power /potential his own future itself has/ a strong belief for the future, and the fact he is the 'Boy of Destiny' fated to save and protect the world and its future.

(Side Note Before We Continue: We know the power isn't exclusive, as I said at the top with Gao. That means there could be other potential candidates out there who could harness the power from their future selves. This could lead to interesting interactions perhaps. Like TBH, I feel like Kaiba might be an actual candidate for Future Force specifically because of his own potential future strength, belief in the future, and his own fate as a reincarnation of Priest Seto. But that's food for thought for another day. I just thought I'd mention it before moving on)

Now, with this power being at play, it brings into question how this power would interact with the main supernatural power in Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Millenium Items.

The 7 Millenium Items are ancient Egyptian artifacts harassing dark and shadow magic to do all sorts of powerful things dependent on the item. While they have a dark origin, these items as seen in the series, can be used for good or for evil. This is already a sharp contrast to the Future Force, which is specifically portrayed as a 'good' or 'heroic' power that is contrasted by its dark counterpart, the Disaster Force.

So, how would these powers interact? I do think it depends on the item. For items like the Necklace, Puzzle, Scale, that do not directly do anything to another individual for the most part, the powers would not interact. For every other item, I do think they'd clash in the sense they'd either cancel each other out or their ability has no effect on the other. Let me illustrate with some examples.

Rod: We know from the manga, if I recall, the Rod needs to physically touch someone in order to have it's mind control power used on them. Since one can manifest barrier-related cards into reality (Example: Green Dragon Shield or Earth Barrier), I think those would protect Tasuku from being affected/controlled. Though, his powers would not be able to break the Rod or its mind control on someone else, just like the Rod wouldn't be able to seal any cards he's brought to life back in their original form (like how it could with monsters in Ancient Egypt). Key/Ring: Tasuku could protect himself from his mind being entered or his soul being manipulated or sealed. However, he could not stop the item's user from going into someone's mind or manipulating their soul. He could still be tracked by the Ring as well, but I imagine if he is using his power, the tracking stops. Eye: Tasuku would be protected from having his mind or soul read in addition to his soul sealed in a Soul Prison, but he cannot prevent someone else's mind from being read or sealed away, or using his power to free someone from a Soul Prison. Shadow Game: If he was brought into a Shadow Game space, I imagine the powers of that space would not affect him as much (similar to how Atem could handle it during the game with Pegasus while Yugi could not). However, he also wouldn't be able to fully dispel it either if he was not involved. Object or Power Clash: I do not think any cards manifested by the Future Force (Example: Dragonblade, Dragobrave) or Millennium Items could break each other in a physical clash. I think they'd just have a collision and be sent flying back.

In short, the powers basically either cancel each other out or just do not effect the other directly when clashing. The biggest exception to this rule, and Tasuku's advantage if facing a Millenium Item User, is that Tasuku could bring physical harm if he uses his powers to manifest cards and have them physically attack the user (like swinging his Dragonblade, Dragobrave for example, or having one of his monsters or spells restrain the other).

Keep in mind though, Tasuku doesn't use his powers unless he HAS to and wouldn't go fighting someone using it willy-nilly. Usually, they are either used to save another or to defend themselves or innocents or friends against someone who also has a similar power (Like the Disaster Force). His view is that this power is meant to help people first and foremost. He also would not use it to kill because despite wanting to bring justice to people who deserve it like criminals, he is not a killer.

Any instances in which Tasuku would use the Future Force in general for an offensive or defensive purpose against any non-NPC, for this verse or otherwise, are typically ones that I discuss with a mun prior due to its overpowered nature and the fact it's used in extreme circumstances.

Anyway, thank you for reading this food for thought of mine and I hope it brings clarity to anyone who may have been wondering how this would go from my POV. Of course, all of this stuff could be debated depending on the interaction. This is just my two cents on it. I'm flexible.

"Tasuku, come in! This is the Buddy Card Office. We just caught word there is an unregistered game shop located in District A that was distributing duel disks. We think that is where a faction of the Rare Hunters could possibly be."

"Roger that, Mr. Takihara. I'm on my way. Let's go to work!"

Immediately, he flashes the police sirena and turns the steering wheel in a different direction. While it would be faster to travel there using Jack's Buddy Skill, it was too risky with the city this crowded to use such powers. Though, he and Jack are both prepared to use them if necessary. The Rare Hunters were a merciless group of thieves known for not playing fair and putting civilians in harm's way . So, why should he show them any mercy?

This entire tournament had caused the city to be infested with them like bugs. Anyone with knowledge of the black market's workings should know gathering so many rare cards in one place was a dangerous idea with these criminals still on the lose. Then again, he deduces that's what Seto Kaiba wanted, considering how avid a collector of Duel Monsters cards he is. Maybe he still was the kind of person he suspected him to be initially, even after what happened to him following Death-T and Mokuba's faith in his brother. For the younger Kaiba's sake, Tasuku hopes his hunch is wrong and Seto Kaiba is innocent in all this.

For now, he has to focus on the task at hand. He's prepared to do whatever he has to once arriving, whether it be fighting in a game or with his fists. He wasn't going to let those criminals get away. Sadly, it seemed he had gotten there too late. He rolls up to the shop and notices someone exiting the building, a short teen he instantly recognizes.

"You're...You're Yugi Muto! The Duelist Kingdom Champion!" He says in surprise as he slowly walks out of his car, certainly not expecting to see such a notable figure walk out of that place. That shock isn't lasting as he moves forward and his tone shifts to one of concern. "Wait...were you just... in that shop? Did someone force you to duel in there?! Are you hurt at all?!"

"N-No, I'm not hurt. How...How did you know I was dueling? And who are you?"

The Buddy Police Boy Wonder then moves into his pocket, taking out his badge and showing it to the duelist. "My name is Officer Tasuku Ryuenji of the Buddy Police. I'm here investigating the Rare Hunters who have infiltrated the city and the Battle City Tournament. Our intel says one of their groups had hidden out here, and I was sent to check it out and put a stop to their operation."

"Tasuku Ryuenji...I think I've heard that name before...Wait! Aren't you the child prodigy at the game Buddyfight?!"

"I'm flattered someone as notable in the gaming world as you knows who I am. I wish we got to meet under different circumstances. However, I need your help with my work. Any and all information you have on the Rare Hunters is critical. If situations like what I assume happened to you get out of hand, we might need to shut down the tournament for everyone's safety until those criminals are put behind bars."

"Shut down the tournament?!" The shock in the young one's words are followed by a subtle glow of the object around his neck, a mysterious pyramid-like pendent. While Tasuku didn't notice the object's glow, he instantly felt the entire feeling in the air around 'Yugi' changed. It seemed more...strong and confident, like he had been described by Mokuba when recounting his match with his brother.

Then, he feels something in his chest pocket. Tasuku moves to put his hand over it gently. In that pocket was his buddy's Buddy Rare card, a form Jack had to take to conceal his true nature from the world. He was calling out to his buddy, eager to hear what he had to say as he always did through the power of telepathy.

"Tasuku, I sense a different presence coming from that boy now. Something...ancient and powerful. Be on your guard."

"A different presence...?"

Release: Future Force! (Drabble)

(Note: This drabble is a 'canon' event for my Mokuba (both anime and manga wise, though it is written in the context of the manga for this drabble) as well as Tasuku and Gao's Yu-Gi-Oh! verses. What that means is this event might be referred by all three of them during interactions they have in these verses. This, though, as with my other headcanons or elements involving Mokuba and his friend group, can be discussed on the individual level if it is something my writing partner is not comfortable with having occurred for whatever reason)

Man, he didn't expect to be so busy. While Mokuba expected the disputes between Battle City competitors to be a moderate occurrence, mainly due to the ante rule his brother imposed, he wasn't prepared for just how many he'd have to do back-to-back not too long after the event started. It seemed like left and right he was running into issue upon issue. Did these duelists have no honor?

Regardless of his slight irritation, he does his job well. His elder brother trusted him with this position, and he wasn't about to let him down. Not only that, he felt a sense a pride being able to have such an important part in the tournament despite not being a competitor himself. He was helping make sure his brother's hard work wasn't going to be ruined by some sore losers or cheaters.

Mokuba now finds himself in one of the many alleyways of Domino City, places that he had quickly noticed became somewhat popular dueling spots for duelists looking to cause trouble. After all, being away from the central areas of the city meant there were fewer eyes on them. Well, as far as they knew, anyway. Kaiba Corporation had security cameras placed all throughout the city, something not just for the tournament but also so they could monitor anything in the future since his brother was now the city's official owner.

It doesn't take him long to find more duelists, or rather, a group of them. Weirdly enough, all of them were dressed in what appeared to be black robes, the group giving off a pretty creepy vibe if you asked the kid. That's when it hit him though, the realization that he might have just found who his brother had intended to lure with this tournament in the first place: The Ghouls.

They certainly matched the vibe of what had been reported about them through the media, and looking at their faces, Mokuba didn't recognize any of them from the registration list. He personally reviewed each and every duelist they invited to ensure he could recognize them while in the field. These guys didn't match up at all with anyone he reviewed, and yet, they had duel disks on their arms anyway. Seems like he hit the jackpot.

Mokuba moves then to take out his phone, fully intending to contact his brother that he found who he was looking for. Sadly, his idea is interrupted as soon as the group finally turns around and spots him. Seeing their creepy eyes made the pre-teen groan in disgust, all his instincts telling him it was time to get out of there now.

"Hey isn't that Seto Kaiba's bratty little brother?"

"What's he doing alone out here?"

"Who cares!? That kid's our ticket to one of our biggest targets! We can use him to lure about his brother!"

"Get him boys!!!"

Without delay, the group of five immediately begin to charge forward towards the younger Kaiba, who then starts to give chase himself. As he is running, he attempts to call out for help through Kaiba Corp's security team, knowing even with his recently taught self-defense skills, he wouldn't be able to fight back effectively, especially with a group this big.

Sadly almost before he can exit the alley and go back into the open streets of the city, a few of the men manage to block his view, having managed to pass him. In the shock of being stopped in his tracks, his cell phone drops his hands. Mokuba quickly tries to grab it before the effort is in vain as one of the Ghouls crushes it under his foot. This meant his location could no longer be tracked and he had no way of calling backup.

Oh, he really was in hot water now...or so he thought.

"Hey! Isn't five against one just a little unfair, guys?"

The group, along with Mokuba, then look over in the direction of the voice. The new individual on the scene was seemingly being framed by the harsh sunlight overhead, its light almost overpowering their sight. However, it didn't take the youngest Kaiba long to figure out who it was, for the voice and that silhouette he'd know anywhere by now.

"G-Gao?!"

"Whose this bratt? One of your little friends trying to play hero, huh?"

"Keh...Not quite..."

The confidence brimming off of his friend's voice and his sharp grin was striking, one that reminded the younger kid of his big brother. That confidence of Gao's was soon followed by him starting to remove his jacket, an action that seemed to cause a slight gasp of joy to escape his lips before it turned into a grin of his own. For he knew exactly what was about to go down.

"Eclipsing the darkness with flames...and brightening the hearts of the mistreated..."

"Oh, you guys are so in it for now..."

"The Mighty Sun Fighter is here...!!!"

"Now then, why don't I even things up a bit? After all, it wouldn't be fair to expect my pal to fight a whole mess of thugs at once, right?"

Mokuba could see the Ghouls getting no doubt annoyed by his friend's speech and 'theatrics', certainly underestimating him. Well, they were going to be in for a surprise for their foolishness, then. Since it was clear they did not know they were dealing with a martial arts national champion who had competed and won against adults countless times. If they did, they surely would have run off by now.

"Alright, you're asking for it, tough guy!"

That's when two of the five members then carelessly charged forward, preparing to grab Gao and no doubt subdue him. This, of course, the Mighty Fun Sighter saw coming, for he caught both of the men's arms, one in each hand, before flipping them both to the hard concrete ground.

"Nice one, Gao!" Mokuba exclaims as the rest of the creeps looked on in absolute shock. The younger Kaiba decides to take this chance to make his move, setting his sights on the two card hunters in front of him. He remembers what Gao's mother, one of his self-defense senseis, told him about dealing with guys like this. That one must be smart with what they use to attack with and where and when they wish to strike.

He then rushes forward towards one of the two thugs, lashing out his leg to kick him in the most sensitive spot he can think of: the crouch. His hit was hard, so hard that it caused the one Ghoul to stumble and crash into the other one, both falling to the ground. Mokuba smirks a bit in victory before heading over to join his friend, the two standing back to back.

"Keh. Guess you Ghouls ain't so tough, after all! If you think we're bad, just wait til my big brother finds you guys! He's going to eliminate all of you with his new power!" He then turns his head back towards his friend. "Come on, Gao! Let's get out of here!"

"Don't think you've won so easily, bratts!"

That's when, out of nowhere, a whole horde of Ghouls appeared on the rooftops, causing both kids' eyes to widen in shock. They quickly slide down the walls and surround the gaming duo, the entire group seeming to have tripled in size. Seems like during the commotion the two kids caused, the leader called for backup. Guess they really did speak too soon and should have just made a run for it the second they cleared the way forward.

"Got any bright ideas, Gao?"

"N-Not yet...but don't worry, Mokuba. We just gotta keep our cool and figure out how we can beat these guys!"

As the horde of hunters starts to take steps forward, both boys start to sweat. Mokuba tried to think of a way out of this, but he just couldn't. Not with this many people! Maybe he should have taken his brother's advice to have a bodyguard or two with him.

Suddenly though, as if answering the two kids prayers, the entire alley is cast in an orange barrier, one that seemingly blocked the only exit out of there. The forcefield not only seemingly trapped them all, but also caused all the security cameras to go temporarily offline, so what happened next could not be recorded. Everyone, including the two kids, looked to the sky, confused as to what was going on. Though, it didn't take a certain Buddyfighter too long piece it together.

"Hey...I know what this is. This is a Buddy Police Barrier!"

"A Buddy Police...Barrier? Then...does that mean-"

"Mind if I step in?"

That's when, as quick as the wind, Tasuku Ryuenji descends from the sky on the green rings from Jack's Buddy Skill, the sight causing the two boys to grin and the Ghouls to grit their teeth in anger. The Buddy Police had been the leading organization investigating the Ghoul's activities for some time now. So, it's only natural they'd show up at some point during the tournament. Mokuba was just surprised it was so soon. He certainly didn't leak his brother's plan to his friend. Did someone on the staff did, or did they figure it out from their own intel?

Speculation on that would have to wait as they had some creeps to deal with. The officer landed in front of the two boys, the Star Pulsar floating near him as well. Mokuba looked at the device with some curiosity, it seemingly having been upgraded since the last time he saw it. Was it because of the collaboration between the Amanosuzu Group and Kaiba Corporation? More questions he'd have to save for later.

"Tasuku Ryuenji...The Buddy Police Boy Wonder...Should have figured you'd show your face around here and use this cheap trick of yours..."

"My Buddy Police Barrier is no trick. You criminals can't run now." As the foes try and fail to escape the area, he then glances over his shoulder to his friends. He provides them a reassuring nod before looking back at the group's current leader. "As I see it, you Ghouls have two options before you. Surrender yourselves or else...accept my gaming challenge! I'll fight each and every single one of you if I have to!"

The Buddy Cop's words, accompanied by the serious glare of his ruby hues, are met with laughter by the group of Ghouls. Mokuba and Gao, in contrast, could only look at the other in admiration. The youngest Kaiba could feel the raw power of Tasuku's strength in the air, similar to how he could feel his big brother's. It made him wonder what would happen if the two of them clashed in the gaming area.

"You sure are bold Buddy Cop. I'll give you that...but...I think I got another option that's much...much more fun..."

Without any warning, that is when both Mokuba and Gao are grabbed by two pairs of hunters, strong-armed with guns pointed at their heads. Both of them attempted to break free, but the other's grip was just too tight. They made sure especially to be tight on both Gao's arms and Mokuba's legs, the two body parts they used in the earlier fight.

"Gao!!! Mokuba!!!" Tasuku shouts as he turns around and notices his friends' current conditions, his eyes widening as soon as he sees the weapons in their hands. "You...You bastards! Leave them out of this! Your battle is with me!"

"One of the first rules of gaming is that you should never play by your opponent's rules. Even if you'd stand no chance, we don't have time for you to battle every single one of us! So, be a good little boy and lower that barrier and hand over your Jackknife Dragon, or else these bratt's blood will spill!"

The sound of the gun's trigger being slightly pulled, but not enough to fire, causes Mokuba's heart to race in his ears, his breath increases, and his palms to start to sweat. He remembers that sound, it was the sound Pegasus' men had when he was kidnapped. Being restrained like this by the enemy reminds him of that instance too. It was happening again, he had allowed himself to get foolishly caught off guard and held hostage, but this time...he had no key, no 'saving grace' to prevent him from being kept alive.

He was...in true danger, at gunpoint with no Seto in sight or way to contact him. He was...He was going to...

"I..won't forgive you..."

The youngest Kaiba looks up then, the voice of his friend seemingly overlapping with the voice of his elder brother. It wasn't just his voice that was off. Mokuba can visualize it...visualize Seto's image overlayed with his friend's. Was his mind playing tricks on him because he was so stressed, or was it that Tasuku's strength was truly similar of that to his elder brothers, akin to that of a mighty dragon?

The boy's contemplation, along with the criminal's movements, was paused soon as a strange light noise began emitting from the Star Pulsar. The sounds were akin to that of locks being released, the clicking sharp. Then everyone in the area bore witness to the device slowly changing its appearance, with its inner machinery being revealed.

"What the..?" Mokuba thought to himself as he watched. "His Core Deck Case...is transforming?"

The green and blue electronic panels that were once hidden beneath the yellow exterior of the Star Pulsar soon began to cast a golden light. The glow not only blinded everyone around them, but also began radiating from Tasuku as well. With squinted eyes, both Gao and Mokuba see what happens next, a sight that seemed...impossible. For Tasuku's hair began to grow long, and his Buddyfight cards turned into light and were now floating around him on their own, similar to how they were in Lady Suzuha's live demonstration of the Core Deck Cases' holographic technology not too long ago. The cards then went back into his deck, as if they had just been shuffled for battle.

Though, as they would all soon find out, this wasn't a mere light show. Instead it was a miraculous power Tasuku has had dormant inside of him, a power hailing from the potential and strength of his future self. He just wasn't ready to awaken it until this moment, the moment he truly needed it to save those he cherished now in the present.

The blinding light begins to wane, and as it does, the Ghouls all stare in shock at the boy's power and change in appearance. They all started mumbling to themselves, wondering what this was, but they soon would have their answer. They would all bear witness to the full capacity of the power the young boy dubbed 'The Boy of Destiny' possesses: The Future Force.

"This...is..." Tasuku goes to draw one of the cards from his deck. The card soon vanishes and becomes replaced by a much larger object. A large halberd sword with a golden hilt manifests before him, along with silver armor for his arms and legs. With the Buddy Cop now equipped with protection, he grabs the blade in both his hands and picks it up with ease. Moving to swipe the sword causes the Ghouls to jump back to dodge, a massive gust of wind being felt with the huge blade's motion. The sight of this elicits shock from everyone around them, but especially Gao and Mokuba who also recognized the weapon itself.

Their friend wasn't using just a random sword. Rather, it was the Buddyfight card...Dragonblade Dragobrave, the item card Gao gave to Tasuku upon the Sun Figher's victory and as thanks for Tasuku giving him his rare and one-of-a-kind Gargantua Punisher impact card.

"Did Tasuku just..."

"Make the cards real? B-But that's impossible! Not even my big brother's Solid Vision technology could do something like this!"

"Then maybe it's not tech at all, Mokuba...Maybe it's...magic."

"M-Magic?"

That word immediately elicits a flashing image in the boy's mind, of the golden eye of Pegasus had and the blinding light he was exposed to before everything for him went blank. He never quite learned just what had happened to him in between being in the cell and waking up in that room in the castle surrounded by Yugi Muto and his friends, but whatever it was wasn't natural. The same went for when he was put into a capsule by his brother's rival after having lost to him in a game of Capsule Monsters Chess. Could there be a connection somehow?

Tasuku then points his blade at the Ghouls holding the two younger gamers hostage, his teeth gritted intensely. The fierce glare of his ruby hues sends a shiver down the thug's spine, as it should. It felt as if a dragon had descended and was ready to tear them limb from limb.

"H-Hey...! Don't forget we're the ones with the advantage! One wrong step and we pull-"

"I cast, Dragon Crush!!!"

Before the miserable Ghoul holding Mokuba can finish his sentence, Tasuku has already taken another one of the cards and seemingly activated it. A blue dragon manifests from the card and quickly bites the hands holding the guns of both Ghouls one after the other. The humans were unharmed but the same could not be said for their weapons. The guns broke and turned into scrap metal on the cold stone ground, the sight causing the two Ghouls holding the two boys to loosen their grips on them somewhat.

Quick to notice the opportunity for escape, both Gao and Mokuba land kicks on their foes that cause their grip to be fully released. They then run back towards Tasuku, all three of them standing back to back to ensure none of them would be snuck up on again. All of their hearts were racing, since they were not entirely out of the woods just yet.

"You little bratts...! Don't think we're done with you yet!" That's when the kids see all their enemies take out their guns, the size of them seemingly bigger than the small handguns the other two had. They were all pointed right at them, with the sounds indicating they were locked and loaded.

"'When you play with fire, you're gonna get burned'. Seems like it's time someone teaches you that lesson..."

"Get down!!!"

Tasuku, dropping Dragobrave which makes it vanish into light particles, grabs the shoulders of the two boys and pulls them to the ground. The Star Pulsar flies in front of the eldest, so Tasuku can draw another card he can use here to hopefully end this little charade once and for all, since it's obvious they don't want to fight with cards anymore.

"FIRE!!! SHOOT THEM DOWN TILL EVERY ONE OF THOSE BRATTS IS DEAD!!!"

"I cast, Red Dragon Shield!!!"

Just as the bullets are fired, unrelenting in their assault, a card in Tasuku's hand manifests in the form of a giant red shield with a dragon's head on it. The shield is placed over the kids like a dome, protecting them from the blasts. However, that was not the only thing the shield did, for in the game it has another ability than just 'negating an attack'.

Once the bullets hit the shield, they reflect off of it and start heading in the direction of the Ghouls who had no type of protection. Their own dirty weapons, which they unleashed on mere children, were now being used against them, the opposite of what they intended. Some of the stray bullets hit the ground or the walls, causing minor damage. Others hit some of the Ghouls themselves in non-lethal wounds, and were starting to drop to the ground like flies. Served them right for what they did.

"Remember it well, you outlaws. This is the blade of justice that terminates evil!"

After the commotion dies down, the shield dissipates. Gao helps Mokuba stand to his feet, with the two watching over Tasuku who was now standing above their fallen enemies. They all, including the group's head, cowered before him, as if they were frightened animals. Ruby hues with nothing but contempt stared them down as he made his final statement.

"What was it you were saying about 'playing with fire'? Seems like us 'bratts' just taught you guys that lesson." He then looks to the entire group of them, his anger-filled eyes being clear for all to see. "And just so we're clear. If you or your allies ever go after my friends again, you will regret it."

After his last words had been spoken, the Buddy Police Barrier finally dropped as several helicopters and police cars flooded the scene. The floating Core Gadget then turns off, as does Tasuku's powers, resulting in his physical appearance returning to normal. He then looks over at Gao, his expression having softened since talking to the criminals.

"Gao, get Mokuba out of here and somewhere safe. We'll take things from here."

"You got it, man." Gao nods, understanding his friend's wishes and agreeing it be for the best. "Thanks for saving our hinds."

"Yeah, thanks...We owe you one big time." Mokuba says just before the Buddy Cop starts walking off, which is when he then speaks again to interrupt that motion. "Tasuku, wait! I need to know how you did all that! How did you make the cards-

"It's better you don't know, Mokuba."

Tasuku stops and turns to face the pair again, his eyes conveying his conviction on this matter despite not being fully able to answer the other's questions. He did not exactly have the full information as to how this happened either, but he is certain Jack would be able to provide some answers. The dragon always seemed to have one at times like this.

"Gaming is supposed to be fun. I don't want that to change for the both of you. Besides, you two have been through enough for one day." He pauses then before continuing on, the two kids seemingly understanding they won't get an answer out of him. "Now, please, don't tell anyone what happened here today, and be on guard, especially you, Mokuba. I wouldn't be shocked if more of these Ghouls come after you."

"I know. I'm going to try and find Seto as soon as possible! With him around, no one will dare try to mess with me!"

"Sounds good. Take care you two. I hope our next meeting will be under better circumstances."

With that done, the boys take their leave. Gao, as Tasuku instructed, guided the younger to the safest location he could think of: Kaiba Corp HQ. It is there that Isano greets Mokuba and his friend, with the VP introducing Gao to his brother's right-hand man for the first time. The Kaiba's broken cell phone was then the topic of conversation, with both boys making up a story of it being accidentally stepped on after having dropped it while in the street. It was enough to be convincing, and Mokuba is provided a new phone right then and there, much to Gao's shock.

Mokuba then bids farewell to his friend, saying they'll hang out sometime after the tournament is over. Gao nods and gives him a high-five before running out to make it in time for his mom's class, something he was reminded of by the woman on the phone. It isn't too long before Mokuba himself heads back out in the city, making sure to grab a snack along with a pocket tazer and pepper spray before heading out. He made sure to bring proper safety equipment this time, even if he was proud of being able to implement some of what he learned from his self-defense classes today.

What transpired that morning would be something the gamer wouldn't ever forget. How could he after how insane it was? Keeping this under wraps from his brother was going to be tough, but knowing about it would just worry him more. He had a tournament to focus on that they both worked so hard into organzizing. Who was he to ruin that right out of the gate?

However, that doesn't mean his mind isn't curious as to the nature of both Tasuku's new ability and why he saw his brother's likeness in him. They would be questions he'd eventually get the answers to, but for now, he vows to continue to do his best as the Battle City Committee Chairmen, a job his brother especially assigned for him and him alone to do.

You know...Tasuku being Sus of Kaiba / not liking him initially / not liking some of the actions he takes makes total sense because like...

His early manga / Season 0 iteration has so much in common with Kyoya (one of Buddyfight's major antagonists), who Tasuku absolutely DESPISES WITH ALL OF HIS SOUL (Even after having come to a somewhat understanding in All Stars). Both are heads of very influential, successful companies, skilled gamers, are good at getting the public to like them despite the darkness they keep, and are not exactly fans of adults / do not mind breaking the law to get what they want, manipulative. Oh! And both use legendary dragons as ace monsters.

So, yeah. Tasuku is on brand to be sus.
