The LED on his forehead circled yellow as he processed the available data in front of him. Interesting. “These marks were made by an android. But they have sharpened their exo-skeleton’s fingers down to points so they scratch like nails. But there is still transfer from their bodies in the claws.”

His eyes quickly assessed the weapon. Recently fired. Three shots. No fingerprints. It had to be the murder weapon. The bullet ridges were the same as on the bullets removed from the body. But why leave it? Surely a deviant would know to take it to destroy the evidence or simply to use for self defence. At least when found it would make it easier to take the deviant in. Even if he was beginning to have doubts about doing so. After all, the victim was a serial abuser of androids. Thought of them as cheap toys. He heard the other approach. “The suspect is unarmed. Left the murder weapon and fled towards the train station.”

The rain had caused his hair to stick to his face as he walked through the Detroit streets. He had to find...something. Anything. Deviants were becoming more and more common and he was supposed to catch them. But his experiences with Lieutenant Anderson were leading him down a different line of thinking. One that would get him deactivated for sure. He couldn’t retreat to his mind palace for fear of being found out so he’d elected to instead wander the streets and see what came of it. See what his coding came up with. He noticed the other and he couldn’t help but focus on them. A test of his analysis equipment. To get himself back on track. That’s what he needed.

His head tilted thoughtfully before a slight smile crossed his face. “I think I see the issue here. It seems you think I am built with some ability to find every android simply through some mass neural network. While such a network exists I am unable to find one particular android in all the noise. For that I would need a computer and the android’s serial number.”

“I’m sorry but I don’t know how that is relevant.” The android was trying to relate it towards the case but there was no correlation. It might be what Hank called a joke but he couldn’t find it on any database of jokes.

Nothing pumped artificial anxiety into the deviant hunter like being told that you’re a deviant. His talk with Kamski had shaken him. After all, he had gone against his programming. Avoided shooting an android despite the information he had lost by doing so. And now he had to go in front of one of the board and explain his current findings. While trying not to show that he had learned that he himself was what they wanted so desperately to fix. “I am afraid I am no closer in finding a solution to deviancy. I think by finding Jericho, I shall be able to take down the revolution before it becomes more than it is already.”

Sometimes Connor had to remind himself of his humanity. And that he wasn’t at fault for what Cyberlife made him believe. He was free now. It was hard since he was the Deviant hunter who himself was a deviant. Markus and Hank were helping a lot but there were days where he was stuck in the mindset that he was broken. Defective. “Does it get easier? Being alive?”

“i must admit, i can see the appeal of watching televison shows on true crime. as an investigator it is interesting to work out how the crime was committed before the show ends.” it wasn’t the reason most watched it but he liked it. “though, the recreations are not as high tech as my reconstruction program.”

He had felt so...wrong. When he’d held the gun on the Chloe. Emotions were still new to him and yet he remembered so clearly feeling guilt and fear for her life. The idea that her life was nothing more than a bargaining chip didn’t sit right within his system. “I don’t know how to find these answers. Unlike a lot of the other deviants, I was programmed to turn deviant. Cyberlife wanted me to. But they also installed in me that it was wrong. How do I find out what that means?”

“I don’t need a place to rest. Androids don’t require sleep. At most, we require a form of standby to check the mainframe for updates. I don’t see why not having property of my own would be an issue. If I remain at the station I can continue to work.”

“I do not mean to intrude or push. But you are lying that you are over what the humans did to you.” She wasn’t. The android was obviously not okay with what had happened to her. And he didn’t wish to push to find out what it was. Like Markus, he could connect with other androids and see their memories. He wouldn’t do that to her. “I am no longer under the control of Cyberlife. Markus helped me fully break away from my programming and I was able to fight off their attempt to regain control over me. I know what I am and what I am not.”

It was...another him. Another model? No, it wore a different designation. RK900. An upgrade to himself? Connor had so many questions. Was it working for Cyberlife? Or had it become deviant too? He raised his hands to show he wasn’t armed. Not that the android needed a gun to defend himself. His programming had also factored in close combat fighting. “What’s your name?” He called out, hoping that this didn’t become a fight.

Connor was crouched in front of the body and his fingers dipped into the Thirium in front of him. He put their fingers into his mouth to analyse it. “This model was reported missing two weeks ago. I think they have been held her and eventually killed or they expired due to their injuries.”

He caught the phone expertly and bypassed the system to get to the music section. “Is there anything you suggest?” The android really had no idea what to do music wise. It was another human thing he wanted to experience but didn’t know how to. He’d listened to Hank’s music before he had woken up but he didn’t know how he had felt about it.

his led circled yellow as he interfaced with the billboard that had been hacked to show an anti-android slogan. since the revolution, so many androids had been attacked by groups who wanted what they thought was their property back. he had to see how this was done. he didn’t notice he was being watched until he removed his hand. “excuse me, you didn’t happen to see anyone who was accessing this sign, did you?”

“I’m okay.” His LED was circling red so he clearly wasn’t. Since fully accepting that he was deviant he had found his emotions much stronger than before. His programming being forced to let them past. The android had just been assaulted by a more aggressive android who had thought him a traitor for his actions before he woke up and he didn’t blame them. But this new android had pulled them off. “Thank you. You did not need to assist me.”
