{ I noticed that lots of people tend to forget that Dickson is a mentally unstable individual who will do anything that he deems necessary to get what he wants all because he speaks to their muses and such with nothing but smiles and compliments.

Dickson is NOT a kind or compassionate person, nor does he care about those that he isn't actively pursuing for the sake of genuine friendship or genuine obsession (love in his eyes). Being kind and compassionate is nothing but another mask that he wears from his various collection when he deems it necessary. As an experiment, along with his condition that makes him unable to properly form and convey emotions (which was only worsened by the experimentation he underwent), Dickson is almost 100% incapable of feeling genuine emotions that belong to him and him alone. He has a habit of using the things he's learned from others by watching them when he's trying to portray his own "feelings" towards others and that's the main issue. Those feelings aren't his ACTUAL feelings, they're someone else's, how someone else he observed for years would react.

If someone were to somehow have the ability to strip him of his masks (his "emotions" and "feelings" if you would call them that), they would find nothing but an empty and broken shell of a person who doesn't know how to do anything but obey someone's orders or someone who completely disregards himself (as in his own well-being) when it comes to endlessly toiling away at his own experiments — and despite his experiments revolving around people who have been fucked over by life, making his own attempts to somehow benefit them — his motivation for said deed was not 100% done out of his own desire to do so, but done because (once he was finally able to recall more about his parents from his childhood) he remembered how the both of them desired to use their skills for good and to help those who cannot help themselves. Thus he applied his parents' feelings to himself and uses that core fundamental as the basis of his entire existence (after his grandfather is finally dead and he doesn't have an actual purpose anymore).

Another reason why Dickson shouldn't be underestimated (and simply chalked up to be the sweet, handsome gentleman) is because of the fact he isn't afraid to use and abuse people for his own gain. He will hurt people. He will manipulate people. He will blackmail them and torture them just like he was. And above all else, he WILL kill people. Dickson is not afraid of getting his hands dirty nor is he afraid to take people hostage and brainwash them to do his bidding if he finds it too much of a hassle for himself (or simply because he won't get caught this way if others are watching him). Before Dickson was able to take care of himself and do things for himself, his grandfather had him work as an assassin of sorts (or rather a mercenary if that's what you prefer to call it), granted he wasn't great at it in the beginning because he was very clumsy and wasn't quite sure of what he was doing, but in the end, he still killed people and usually in various creative and cruel ways too if the opportunity to do so provided itself. Additionally, Dickson will also go to any lengths he deems necessary to make sure his target doesn't come out alive, such as the time he chopped off his own hand in order to free himself so he could proceed to kill his client's target.

Sure Dickson may have been more hesitant to do terrible things when he was younger, like when his late fiancée, Janus, wanted him to help her murder various people simply because she felt like it and he didn't want to participate, but that's Dickson was a lot more weak-willed and timid during his childhood. Back then, he didn't have almost any drive to do anything because he wasn't conditioned to be subservient yet. Granted he still would listen to his grandfather's orders without question, but Janus hadn't fully established that kind of FULL control over him since he'd only known her for a few years, thus that lack of control over him is what ended up leading him to kill Janus when she finally got fed up with him enough to begin beating him (that day anyway, considering she was always abusive towards him). That fear he possessed from his childhood years (something I've already established in posts before) had changed into anger (another thing I've already established in past posts) before he finally ended up snapping all together and stabbing Janus to death, regretting what he had done for only a few moments until that dissipated as well because he simply couldn't bring himself to care. The fact that he stored her body in a freezer within the basement of the Simmons Estate only serves as a reminder of how he started in his mind.

One of the biggest reasons why people should remember that Dickson isn't just a pretty face is the HUGE fact that he basically has his own servant (more like mind slave) that both he and Janus shared together when she was still alive, that he ACTIVELY participated in breaking on the days he had suffered himself (granted he was made to believe it was alright by Janus, but that's besides the point). This point here is a perfect way to represent just how broken and unstable Dickson is as well because normally Dickson was the one who tried to keep Janus from tormenting Belphegor (the name Janus decided to give the boy despite him already having a name) and was often the one trying to tend to whatever wounds Janus had created, be them physical or mental ones (though Dickson was only good at mending physical wounds). In Belphegor's mind, Dickson was going to become his savior at some point due to the fact he showed more compassion towards him than Janus did, but this sentiment ended up proving false the day Dickson murdered Janus. Dickson's once gentle and caring demeanor towards Belphegor ended up changing into something more deranged and it only proceeded to get worse once Carla died as well — gentle gestures of affection soon became more aggressive and agitated, once soothing and comforting words became accusatory and possessive, promises of better treatment and freedom became guilt-tripping and manipulation — eventually leading for Belphegor's mental state to be completely broken down to the point he became a puppet for whatever Dickson desired.

Now, you're probably thinking "but hey, doesn't this contradict everything you've posted about Dickson before? You know, the stuff about him not wanting to be like his grandfather and such?" And in a sense, yes, I did contradict myself, but at the same time... I didn't. Why? Because Dickson didn't want to become like his grandfather or Janus or any of the people who tormented him for the entirety of his life, but when you are basically a prisoner within your own home and are subjected to abuse for so long, you generally end up developing Stockholm Syndrome and that's basically what happened to Dickson. The abuse and torment are what lead up to Dickson basically becoming his grandfather and Janus, but he only realizes this once he joins the BSAA and meets Chris and his team. Why does he realize this? Well, that's because of the simple fact that they all treat him like an ally and not a tool. They slowly begin to make him realize that he isn't just an object for someone's desires nor is he just a toy that will be endlessly used until it's broken and tossed away. They made him feel something that he's never felt before: human. They made him feel like he was an ACTUAL human being and not a monster, that he wasn't some kind of murderous and heartless creature, but instead was their close friend and even a part of their little family, which is something that Dickson has always wanted so desperately deep down inside of his very being. Not his grandfather. Not Janus. Not his mother or father. Not Carla. Dickson. Something that HE wanted. One of the very first and only things he's ever wanted in his life. Granted he still wears his various masks around them, but that's because he doesn't know how to stop nor does he want them to know just how inhuman he really is.

^^^ And this whole above paragraph really does help to show just how broken Dickson is and how even just a little bit of love and care towards him can make him into a completely different person, especially if we jump back to this line here in the first paragraph: "Dickson is NOT a kind or compassionate person, nor does he care about those that he isn't actively pursuing for the sake of genuine friendship or genuine obsession (love in his eyes)." The only reason he cares so much about Chris and his team is because of the simple fact they tried to develop genuine friendships with him to the point he had become obsessively in love with each and every one of them (some in platonic ways: Chris, Philis, Finn, Jill, Steve, and some in romantic ways: Victoria and Piers).

But back to the topic of the mind slave, due to the fact that Dickson had finally come into contact with people who... understood him in a sense for lack of a better word... he began to think that he could actually be something other than a tool and because of that, he also believed that maybe Belphegor could be more than a tool as well. Of course, due to being completely broken by Dickson, there wasn't much that could be done for him in the ways of... fixing him so in the end, Dickson simply continues to use Belphegor for whatever he deems necessary but instead of treating him as badly as he had before, he now somewhat treats him as he used to (though he can still be rather harsh when he isn't in the greatest of moods).

So with all that being said, I advise you all (especially those of you with muses that are seeking out romantic affairs with Dickson) to proceed with the utmost caution when doing so because there may come a point where Dickson doesn't care about your muse anymore and simply chooses to discard them (minus Crystal of course because that's his wifey). }

This plight is the simplest of them all: you did not ask for this. You were never given a choice. No part of yourself feels human, just a collection of traits you've picked up from mirroring anyone you could, even the people you meet through a television screen. It's alienating to live that way- yet someone has called you the alienating one. Maybe too many people to count. Maybe they treated you so uncomfortably inhuman that it's all you can understand now, or you've dug yourself into such a deep hole in an attempt to keep safe that you can't remember a person living in the home of your body at all. Being alive is confusing and painful and lonely and loud but living is all there is to being human- you're already there. Just take air into your lungs and breathe. Close your eyes and picture a beautiful sky. You made that. You painted that yourself.

{ Random fact about Dickson because my most recent response to Serin made me remember this, but Dickson actually is someone who doesn't swear unlike the rest of the cast from any Resident Evil series.

Instead of swearing, Dickson generally has a habit of laughing during situations that many would find reasonable to swear, such as loosing a tricky target they've been tracking for weeks. If he isn't laughing though, he has a bad habit of biting his bottom lip or tousling his hair in irritation, yet despite those two telling signs... you can't ACTUALLY tell that Dickson is irritated due to him doing said things with a smile on his face. He merely appears to be doing so in a more... bashful (for lack of a better word) sense rather than irritance or annoyance.

The only time you will ever catch Dickson actively swear is when he's completely and 100% livid to the point he is basically unhinged. The best way to tell when Dickson is at this state is by looking at his appearance. His appearance will consist of: messy tousled hair (not in it's usual fashion), disorderly clothes (such as his shirt being untucked or partially buttoned, his jacket halfway hanging off of his body, his tie (when he has one on) being extremely loose), his smile will either be completely gone or spread in a crooked way from ear to ear, his eyes will hold a manic look to them, his hands/fingers will constantly twitch, and you will always find his hands touching either his head or his face (sometimes he'll even pull at his own hair). Along with the sudden swearing, he will grow extremely hostile and throw around anything he can get his hands on.

The only other time you can find Dickson swearing is if he's genuinely just in a good mood and messing around or when he's being a little shit head and wants to talk shit about something/someone. }

{ This manhwa I found is literally a perfect representation of how Dickson's childhood used to be with his parents. Granted he originally didn't react to anything due to his condition, but slowly over time he started to learn what happiness was (you know, before his parents were murdered).

I have never found anything so absolutely accurate before and now Imma cry about it because I finally have. 😭😭

˙˖ ♡ . 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬.

1. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚?

Chemicals, sanitary wipes/cleaning fluids, smoke, and gun powder. Though the most common smell affiliated with him is the heavy and thick smell of blood, whether he’s covered in it after fighting a battle against bioweapons or not. Due to all of his years in captivity with the corpses of the infected, the scent has been stuck to him ever since and refuses to go away no matter how many times he bathes. This often serves as a permanent reminder of his suffering and torment within his grandfather’s care, eventually becoming almost like a comfort (like a familiar smell he enjoys) due to his mental state being warped. He does his best to cover up the smell with cologne when out within society in order to keep others from growing suspicious of him.

2. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚’𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚?

After sustaining injuries and handling different objects and materials, the skin on Dickson’s hands tend to feel/look rather rough and calloused due to just how much he uses his hands in his day to day work according to others. Though while they are somewhat rough, they aren’t scratchy to the point that touching someone makes them feel... uncomfortable for lack of a better word. Most people also believe that, since he’s almost always wearing gloves, Dickson’s hands are possibly terribly disfigured (this is what also makes people believe his hands are rough and calloused).

In actuality, Dickson’s hands are quite soft due to his ability to regenerate injuries, yet due to the fact that he isn’t very physical with others, no one really knows this. His hands are also larger than most of his comrades and this often makes it easier for him to hold onto things or people. While his hands are soft, he makes sure to rough them up from time to time at work on purpose (and stops himself from regenerating since he can control it) that way people believe he’s a normal human being.

3. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙮?

Due to the fact that Dickson is a bioweapon, he doesn’t actually possess the need to eat, instead he often administers an injection into his arm that servers as nutrients to help him keep his mutated form in check when he actively shifts. Yet despite this, he can still indulge in eating human foods and will actively participate in the act when amongst others. Considering the fact that he’s infected, most of Dickson’s diet consists of different kinds of meat, whether it’s cooked or not. He can also drink blood to fulfill his appetite, but he prefers not to due to the fact he dislikes the way it feels going down his throat (since blood is thick).

4. 𝘿𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚?

Believe it or not, Dickson is actually very good at singing. He’s had many people claim that he’s bluffing about his vocal skills until actively hearing him preform, soon becoming shocked by his capabilities. Unlike when he speaks, his voice drops into a lower pitch and has a more mysterious sounding tone to it, often causing people to fall in love with his voice. While he does not sing often, he does actually enjoy it, even if he does get secondhand embarrassment from it. (Though please keep in mind that I only have a Japanese voice for him so far, I still need an English voice.)

5. 𝘿𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙗𝙖𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙨?

Given the fact that Dickson cannot feel proper emotions and only acts by learning/watching others, he doesn’t really have any nervous ticks. He isn’t capable of becoming nervous or feeling anxious, but he does have quiet a few bad habits. One of said bad habits is how his cheerful personality (his act of cheerfulness) completely does a 180 and becomes extremely serious/sadistic whenever his work revolves around anything scientific, that and the fact he is unnaturally cheerful/happy 24/7 even when tragedy strikes to the point it often creeps people out. His lack of basic human understanding often has him viewed badly and even makes people suspicious of him, then when he’s called out on it, he often uses the excuse of “I’ve never interacted with anyone else outside my grandfather so I’m not sure how to behave around others.” He also has a bad habit of becoming momentarily hostile and/or aggressive when people touch his hair, specifically his bangs that cover his forehead, due to the fact he has a scar from a gunshot wound caused by his grandfather in order to finally activate the full potential of his infection (much like how Wesker needed a near death/actual death experience before the virus took full effect on his body) — though he calms back down once realizing said person wasn’t trying to look at his forehead, often blaming his reaction on his PTSD.

6. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 / 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙧?

Dickson has a tendency to wear clothing that conceals a vast majority of his body due to the fact he has a large multitude of scars across the expanse of his body that he sustained as a child when being used as a human test subject by his grandfather (mainly done to see if Dickson would grow an immunity to the different viruses or be able to control the infected along with his own infection, resulting in him being attacked by creatures within a containment unit), and due to this, his regenerative abilities cannot heal his old wounds. Almost everything in his wardrobe is black except for a singular white tuxedo alongside a white wedding dress he’s kept in his closet since the death of his parents, said tuxedo and wedding dress being the last thing he has of his parents. He very rarely takes off his clothes, unless to bathe, but even then he makes sure nobody else is around to see him.

Despite how he behaves in public, Dickson is actually extremely detached from anything that revolves around/involves physical affection and emotional/verbal affection due to just how broken he is because of his grandfather’s abuse and forceful seclusion from society (along with his medical condition). He has a very hard time understanding the concept behind it and will often try to question the value of affection in a scientific manner. The closest thing to affection someone will get from Dickson is obsession. Thanks to Carla showing him compassion when no one else did as a child, Dickson often targets people who show great deals of compassion towards others and/or possess a large amount of experience in the scientific/medical field. Yet, despite this, he is not incapable of showing actual affection. If he spends enough time with said person he is currently obsessed with, he will eventually grow to love them just as he did with Carla. Though this will also cause him to grow possessive over whoever his partner is to an unhealthy extent (so in truth it’s easier to try and slowly teach him about love and affection rather than just letting him pursue you in his own way).

8. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙞𝙣?

Sleep? What’s that. He doesn’t know what that is. Dickson hasn’t actively slept since the day he was thrown in a containment unit filled with unspeakable horrors by his grandfather because if he did... he’d be ripped apart by all the creatures he was desperately hiding from. The times he does sleep, it’s usually with one eye open (meaning he’s just barely asleep) so he can jump up as quickly as possible when he needs to. He’s often classified as an unnaturally light sleeper by his squad mates and even by his appointed guardian. Though it is possible for his significant other to put him completely to sleep if they lay down with him because not only does he have someone he cares about beside him, he also knows that he isn’t alone (so if something happens they’ll help him out). He’ll still sleep with his back facing the wall just in case regardless.

9. 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢?

No, not unless he really wanted you to hear him. Dickson has pretty much mastered the art of stealth after spending years sneaking around and hiding from the undead as a child, so there’s no way a random human would be able to hear him moving about unless he purposely made his presence known and this is something that he tends to do a lot in order to frighten whoever it is that he’s facing (mainly because he has very sadistic humor).

{ Let it be known that John Wick, along with may other characters, was a very big inspiration for me when creating/building upon Dickson’s character. A lot of the tricks John preforms and the skills he possesses are also things that Dickson can do and will show off when he deems necessary otherwise he’s about as harmless as a newborn puppy. }

{ Totally forgot about my headcanon that Dickson, after being freed from his grandfather’s control and learning he’s free to do and have things he never could before, became a pretty hardcore gamer in his spare time (which isn’t much to be honest). He loves all sorts of games, doesn’t matter what genre it is, but his favorites are those old time games that have a retro feel to them (even if they’re not actually old games but still feel retro). For example, one of the main games he’d probably play in his spare time is a game called River City Girls because of it’s retro feel and action packed beat em up style.

His main fighter for sure would be Kyoko due to the fact she reminds him of his wife, Victoria, with her sweet and bubbly nature (along with the total fact she’s a bimbo). Probably has all her moves unlocked and can pull off every combo by heart, totally remembers all her lines, capped all her levels/stats too, and loves the fact she’s so devoted to her boyfriend (since he can relate with the whole so devoted that you’ll kick anyone and everyone’s ass for them aspect). But after clearing the game and unlocking Misako and Kyoko’s boyfriends, he would likely have Riki (Kyoko’s boyfriend) as a secondary main instead of Kunio (Misako’s boyfriend) despite the fact Kunio’s personality matches better to Dickson’s. Much like Kyoko, he would totally have Riki maxed out in all his levels and stats too, it would just take him a little bit longer to do since he’s too busy admiring his cool nature. }

We switched it up for the boyfriends despite me loving Riki and her loving- }#{ Kunio so much. Since I play Kyoko I also play Kunio and since my sister plays Misako she also plays Riki. }#{ But Kyoko is the perfect main for Dickson because she's a lot like his wife. }#{ That and who doesn't love girls that can kick a whole city's ass for their boyfriends? }#{ Dickson certainly loves girls who can kick his ass. }#{ Granted that his canon wife can't but that's what Crystal is for! }#{ Kyoko also has a somewhat orange-pinkish hair color (kinda like Blossom from Powerpuff Girls I guess) so I kinda thought of Crystal. }#{ Just cause of the whole thing with Crystal acting sweet and helpless sometimes. }
