#{ This is coming from a mun that would had starved to death as a kid if the drug dealer in my family didn't help us. }
Actually yes please let's all enter the era of people seeing the root of why Rocket and other yakuza exist, instead of just turning them into the boogeymen that need to be beat up. Trimming a tree is useless if the roots are what's causing the illness. They're human beings. Treat them as such.

KATNISS EVERDEEN━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
( lindsey morgan . she/her . hunger games . ) your name is KATNISS EVERDEEN. you’re TWENTY-EIGHT, and you’ve been in wayward valley for as long as you care to remember. occasionally, you catch glimpses of another life, and it looks like THE INSUFFERABLE RESPONSIBILITY OF BEING A SYMBOL, THE SMELL OF THE WOODS THAT FEELS LIKE HOME, BOW AND ARROWS NOTCHED BETWEEN CALLOUSED FINGERS — but it’s all in your head, surely. after all, your STRONG-WILLED, PROTECTIVE, HOSTILE, & IMPULSIVE disposition has found a life of sweet contentment here in town, as a FARMER. so why does it feel like something’s missing? ( mipsy . 21+ . she/her . cst . )
trauma tw (mention) , death tw , war tw (mention)
the mockingjay, icon credits to lexie ( rivervixenicons ) !
katniss everdeen, born and raised in wayward valley, was a farmer’s daughter. she had five other siblings — three girls and two boys — and she was the oldest. life on the farm was a magnificent thing. as a child, she was surrounded by farm animals, and katniss liked to befriend and play with them, especially before her siblings were born. after they were born, she and her siblings would play together with them, but eventually katniss grew out of it as she started working more on the farm. it’s a child’s dream, living on a farm, but work still had to be done. and a farmer’s life isn’t easy.
katniss still worked as a child, all of the children had. simple things, housework, in order for their family unit to thrive. when they’d gotten older, they’d move up to farm work. katniss, as the eldest, was the first. her father taught her everything he knew about farming, the lay of the land, hunting, even survival skills as a precaution for herself and her five baby siblings, if they ever needed it. and her mother offered her advice too, on how to care for her siblings, from a young age. the everdeen farm provided fresh food to wayward valley, they’d been in business for many years, the everdeens knew they needed one of their children to take over the farm, after they were gone. they knew that child would be katniss.
she didn’t mind all the work, she actually liked it. katniss split her time between school and farm work at home. she preferred the farm than school. she liked being outdoors, being in the barn or in the stables with the horses. running in the fields or leaning against fences. she was happiest in the wild. she’d taken on more responsibility as her parents grew older, and she’d gotten used to dressing her siblings and feeding them too. all before she was in high school.
the seasons changed, and this was a particularly bad season. but not only for the crops. katniss’ parents died, suddenly. while katniss was still but a child. arrangements were made and, with help, katniss became the owner of the everdeen farm. katniss continued to put on a brave face for her siblings, but she was as broken as they were. maybe worse. though time has helped heal her wounds, she still misses her parents immensely. of coarse, she didn’t go to college. katniss never planned on it. but she did manage to get her ged, at the last minute.
in the case of memories, they come to katniss in the form of people. of coarse, she has nightmares. distorted flashes of a war, of a much more dangerous game to play, of a mockingjay. as if a thousand piece puzzle, and they don’t come very often. at the same time she has dreams, good dreams. but her memories will come much more clearly from the people, from another life. the tributes. mentors. rebels. district citizens. and capitol citizens. events and scars are tied mostly to people, for her. and they’ll start to reveal themselves as she sees these people and talks to them.
CANON━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
alright, so between three books, all in the pov of katniss, there’s a lot to say about katniss everdeen. so i’m jus gonna sum it up.
katniss everdeen was the symbol of the rebellion. the mockingjay. she was the girl on fire. the rebel. a star-crossed lover. the female tribute and victor of the 74th hunger games. she was the girl who turned a nation of slaves into an army, but most importantly katniss was a miner’s daughter. a healer’s daughter. a big sister. a best friend. a hunter. a caretaker. she was a survivor, a lover, and eventually a mother. katniss everdeen of district 12 was just a girl, starving, trying to survive, when her sister, primrose, was reaped to participate in the 74th hunger games. katniss volunteered in her place and, as the story goes, would go on to spark a fire of rebellion and end the oppression of an entire nation...
katniss’ canon is link.
she’s mostly book based, with movie influences.
katniss is canon up to mockingjay, but before the epilogue. so she hasn’t had her and peeta’s kids yet, but she will remember a relationship with peeta and settling down in district 12, after the war. now, if the peeta rper does not want a canon ship, i can work with that! like i said, she was pulled before they had kids, and we can always say they formed a bond as best friends and survivors of all their trauma, geez, but they were never really lovers. this is a multi-fandom, so i can open up katniss to a different relationship. whatever makes the mun happy!
she is my 3rd, and sad to say, last monster for now. idek how to begin to unpack all her trauma, but katniss is a very good example of a character i wanted to make happy! she was born into a pretty messed up world, and by the end of it, she’s just...gotta live with all of it. gotta live with all trauma. but, i guess, she finds some sort of peace. i just want her to start with that peace and have it forever. because half of that stuff, to all of those characters shouldn’t have happened! but, that’s the hunger games. sweet misery :’).
WANTED CONNECTIONS━━━━━━━━━━━━━
hunger games muses! ( especially peeta mellark, haymitch abernathy, effie trinket, primrose everdeen, johanna mason, gale hawthorne, annie cresta, cinna, cato, clove, rue, foxface, beetee, wiress, cashmere, gloss, enobaria, brutus, darius, madge undersee, jus everybody! )
fellow farmers/stable hands!
friends!
enemies!
flings!
romantic ship! ( wip )
and many more!

New characters!
The muns’ minds are always busy with new characters so here’s an introduction to the characters you’ll be seeing in our stories or have already come across them.
Lance Emerson
Face claim: Julian McMahon
Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Lance’s childhood was comfortable and filled with privilege. His mother was the COO (chief operator officer) of a corporation, and his father a traveling businessman—both came from well-to-do backgrounds. Lance was the first-born son out of five children and was the clear favorite. Living in a gated community, he attended the most prestigious private schools the country had to offer. Money was never an issue for him or his siblings, but he was well aware that his parents gave him the biggest allowance of them all, and he had more freedom to do whatever he wished. He developed an aggressive and superficially passionate charisma that drew people to him like moths to a flame. This gained him plenty of followers who admired his sharp wit and business perception that he learned from his parents.

Rory Hawthorne
Face claim: Jensen Ackles

After much running and hiding, Rory came across a collective of monsters, lost souls like him. They took him under their wing and taught him how to fight. During this time, Rory was able to adapt to his surroundings and develop his own, unusual powers. The rage he felt toward his own brother had never left him, and thus created malevolent energy within. While his physical body died at the tender age of five, his spiritual body grew into adulthood.

HEADCANON. mitch’s relationships w/ others (one-sided) evaluations -- sans Willy.
Most of these are so rough because my mind is about ten years away. I like writing up things to really get the juices flowing when I’m having my characters interact with other muses, so this is mostly just how I view Mitch’s opinion / stance on others (most of it is just subjective until bonds are formed in character and will change over time as they develop and I have AH HA moments of clarity on the psychology)! Some are longer based on me reading some things that kmudle stated in some asks ; others are short because Omar got so few moments ; I didn’t include Minnie or Sophie due to them really not being around him enough to have a clear opinion formed.
Anyway, they’ll probably change so much over the course of my portrayal! I’m a very development friendly mun when it comes to my muses.
Marlon: As we can clearly see by episode one, Mitch’s calm was completely given throughout the entire time spent there. When returning from the hunting trip, he immediately went back inside without so much as staying behind to help out like Aasim did or to watch over like Brody had. Marlon didn’t seem to show any care about him taking off, leaving it easy to speculate that Marlon lets Mitch wander off to do his own thing without batting his lashes.
Toward the end of the episode, however, there’s a shift where Mitch is the first one to call notice to the blood on Marlon’s face and to step forward when he started waving his gun around to shout his name -- as if surprised by these sudden acts of aggression. Mitch clearly never seemed to take in any of Marlon’s antics, moments of anger, or anything of that nature as something to worry over ; yet the fact he had to sit there and watch him wave a gun, with blood of either himself or their friend on his face, he froze up and clearly showed conflict over believing he was capable of killing his friend. It took Marlon admitting it HIMSELF that led him to finally break form his internal conflict to suddenly realize that the guy he knew was broken.
However, he didn’t have much time to process this broken reality before AJ shot him. Marlon kept them alive, he did something stupid, but he was willing to be kicked out of the community completely to make up for it ; he was willing to LEAVE if the others told him to. The actions taken there led him to decide to take up a more dominant role temporarily to do exactly what he thought Marlon would do if this had been an actual case, which was: have everyone decide for themselves if they deserved to stay or not. While he didn’t think he was justified to trade off the twins or try to trade off the others (or kill Brody), he clearly held respect for him and hated the concept of a dead man being put on trial.
Louis: While still a friend of his, Mitch doesn’t seem to have many moments with him. Outside of berating him over Louis telling him not to start up name calling during the funeral, Mitch and Louis’s moments are slim to none ; however, Mitch and Louis feel as though they’d vibe well because of their laid back look on life, but only inside the walls. While in a terrain where there’s danger or threats around them, Mitch would more than likely be more focused on finishing up the tasks to get back inside the gates rather than swinging a chair leg named Chairles at a hanging walker -- more than once...
Violet: While in the headmaster’s office, a clear distinction in their relationship is how he backed away from her when she was clearly throwing her finger at him to demand he go with Clementine to the greenhouse. Unlike a majority of the others, Violet is shown to be “difficult” and willing to stand up with a protective aura about her, whether he views it as right or not, her willingness to pull out her cleaver or throw a punch means that she’s one of the FEW who can put down his temper and stubborn actions. The two of them are EXTREMELY alike, willing to step in and get revved up for a fight, if necessary, but this obviously means that they’d bump heads quite a bit because of it -- especially over Marlon.
While Mitch is willing to not put a dead man on trial due to the actions taken by AJ, Violet despises what he did to their two friends. It’s a flaw in the two of them, because Mitch is willing to put aside the intensity of the actions of Marlon with brevity to chalk it up to “imperfect” and Violet will give a stance of throwing Marlon away as an unforgivable person to the group. If left in a room alone together to discuss this, it’d likely turn into a match of anger bubbling over the edge until one of them either snaps or storms away. If not for the betrayal, they don’t seem to have many qualms outside of the fact both of them can be a tad intense in personality at times.
Brody: The most disappointing thing about these two is how little you see of them near to each other. The only time you see them nearby is when they return from their supply run, though they don’t talk ; the most feasible reason the three (her, him, and Aasim) were put together in the first episode was to give the perspective of their differing opinions: Brody was worried about the safe zone because of the raiders, Aasim was worried about the safe zone because it was starving them, and Mitch didn’t have any opinion at all. While he holds himself to a more chill attitude in regard to Marlon’s leadership, Brody’s stress would be something so palpable to the group.
Outside of the stress and anxiety, she’s not someone he’d have any genuine disdain toward, likely seeing her as more of a second-in-command when Marlon’s not around. It’s when she has any sort of anxiety spikes that he has issue and it’s usually because he doesn’t know what to do during those moments, leaving him to stand by and just watch in silence as she tries to pull herself together ; otherwise, they’re pretty chill.
Tenn: Seeing Lilly so willing to put a knife to Tenn’s throat before the bomb went off definitely would have elicited some reaction of anger within him ; seeing Tenn still so near her after it knocked them apart meant war. In his moment of rushing out into the battlefield, he took a stance of offense, willing to take out the biggest threat in a moment of revenge -- a product of him likely not wanting to lose another person. Just like with Willy, he exudes a protective mindset over him because of his age, but, because he didn’t have much say in how he was raised, Tenn’s softness isn’t something he blames on him.
Aasim: There’s some respect between them, not much but it’s there that pulls Mitch out of his angriest moments to yank him back to the surface. If not for Aasim a couple of times stepping in to stop him, Mitch could have caused a situation to spiral further out of control than it did. The difference between the duo is, from what I can gather, is their amount of effort put into their lives. Comparing their ethic in the first episode, Mitch completely left the party right after he got close to the gate while Aasim stayed behind to help with clean up -- despite them both likely disliking it.
In terms of what is stated by a creator of the game, Aasim and Mitch have Willy as a link between them that keeps them as friends or closer company ; without Willy, they might not have any reason to see eye-to-eye about anything or really speak to one another (although I find that a little lackadaisical since humans communicate with even their fingernails sometimes). I think they’re building blocks for Willy, because one side teaches Willy how to be strong, to be a kid, and to never let anyone walk all over him ; the other side teaches Willy what it means to learn from your mistakes, to grow a little each day, and to think before rushing into situations ; they’re both protective over him but I see Mitch possessing care for Aasim as well -- why else would he even bother mentioning his name when interrogating Clementine after Marlon’s death?
Also, apparently Aasim maybe likes their dumb jokes more than he lets on.
Ruby: When she was a child, it’s confirmed that she once chased a teacher with a barbecue fork, which Mitch can respect her for ; that’s what is between the two of them is a semblance of respect that is hilariously done with Ruby being one of the few who knows she can keep the peace between someone else and an upset Mitch. When giving out the demand for a vote, Ruby declared that it seemed fair to have the group decide if they should have to keep the duo of AJ and Clementine within their home. While Aasim and Violet declared it messed up, Ruby and Omar agreed it was the best way to give them a chance. Although Mitch might have a hotheaded personality behind him, his choices in situations clearly do resonate a fair minded approach...
Then there’s times when he’s absolutely unreasonable. Just like Aasim, Ruby’s voice can pull him from his moment of anger to regard her ; however, unlike Aasim, she doesn’t seem to hold as much power to make him shut his mouth completely or stop until she steps up with her actions after he gets too rambunctious (ie when he’s stepping up to Clementine if she says, “Fuck you” to him).
Omar: It’s messed up how little Omar gets any screen time with the others ; however, Mitch respects the fact that Omar is willing to take a stance that is more neutral to let them take a vote, clearly. Through the entirety of his time alive, Mitch showed no animosity toward the guy, so there’s some respect to him and his ability to use his mind to evaluate any situation.
Rosie: Dog!
Everyone: Mitch might cause tension quite a bit within the group when he lets his emotions control him, but his opinion of them all is that they’re his friends -- worth dying for even if some of them piss him off.

When I was seven my dad revealed his affair to my mum. She was fucked devastated. To this day I’ve never seen someone break like that. She cried all day, every day. Non-fucking-stop. She stopped eating. Like, entirely. No food.
It was years later when I found out she was pregnant when my dad left. Yep, my piece of shit dad got my mum pregnant while having his affair. My mum basically starved the kid to death. I’m not sure she’s ever forgive herself for that. She probably never will. To this day I say my father killed thag baby; not my mother. And to this day, my father’s a cunt; happily married with the woman he cheated on my mum with.
My brother became a heroin addict in his teens. He’d go missing for days on end, turn up, break into my mum’s wardrobe and steal her savings. He took her jewelry. He stole my bike and the coat my mum saved up to buy me for Christmas. He took everything from her.
He slammed her arm in a door once. She caught him unscrewing the back of her other wardrobe to steal whatever she had left. She tried to stop him. I remember hearing the bang and my mum collapsing on the floor in agony. My brother walked by me and fucked off to score. You might ask why I never hit him. My brother was a terrifying dude back then. He was unpredictable as fuck. The drugs made him edgy...sketchy. He’d sooner break my mother’s arm then give up the ten quid he’d stole.
My mun’s depression took hold again. She gave up. She let my brother walk all over her. He’d steal her shit and she’s just walk around the house like a fucking ghost.
I started drinking at the age of fourteen. When my mum went out (my aunt would take her out dancing to cheer her up), I’d invite my friend over. My mum would come home to me, shit-faced, throwing up on the floor. She slapped me once. I asked her why and it was because I try to slap her. My own mum. I don’t remember a thing.
By the age of eighteen I wa me an alcoholic. But I was legal. She couldn’t stop me. An alcoholic son and a junkie son. How she coped, I do not know. I came home every night, hammered, slamming doors, throwing up, making myself food. Then my brother would come home, blast the tv as he nodded out from heroin.
When I was about nineteen, my mum started dating a man. A raging alcoholic called George. I’m pretty sure he hit my mum though she never told us directly. She feared him though. He would yell and she’d go to him. He’d be in the pub, ten pints deep. One time my brother and I teamed up (a rare occurrence) to beat the shit out of George. My mum stopped it before it got out of hand. How fucking torn she must have been: her junkie son and her alcoholic son threatening to break the nose of the alcoholic she loved.
Around that time my mum had a hysterectomy. I didn’t know why. Still don’t. All I know is that, once again, she would weep for days on end. My grandmother would come to the house to clean and cook because her useless sons wouldn’t do it. My mum broke...again.
She dumped George. I think it’s because he hit her. I don’t know. She dated a man called Chris. She fell in love. Chris eventually told my mum she was married. He said he wasn’t going to leave his wife, leaving my mum distraught.
One day my brother told us he was going to be murdered if he didn’t pay a drug dealer he owed. “Scottish Stu”. He was notoriously violent and, rumor had it, he’d once chopped a dude’s finger off. My mum scraped together her last bit of cash (I don’t recall how much) and gave it to my brother. Shortly after, she threw my brother out. Weeks later he called, begging to come home; saying he was bhomeless and didn’t know what to do. Through tears she let him back. The drugs didn’t stop. Years later my brother would get clean. He has a kid, a house and is getting married soon. I wonder if he regrets what he put mum through. I do. All those drunken nights. I do.
I left for America when I was twenty. Broke my mum’s heart. Ten years later and I still don’t think she’s over it.
We’ve become distant. I told her of my suicide attempt and my alcoholism and she said “Get well soon”. She just doesn’t know what to say to me anymore. I miss her.
Last year my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through chemo and got a mastectomy. I let fucked her up. I’m thankful for her new husband (I found out she was married via text) or else I think she would have broken...again. She struggled through the year. She’s text me and tell me how shit she felt. How she could hardly get out of bed. Her job then let her go. “Staff cuts” she said. She got another job - lesser position - shortly afterward. I think that saddened her; to go from manager to whatever she is now.
I just found out my mum got a second mastectomy. “Precautionary” they said. She sent me a pic of her smiling. I don’t know how she does it. She said “I save a fortune of bras”. I cried.
We’re distant now. We may never get back what we once had. But, at the end of the day, my mum’s my angel. I’ve got no better word for it. She’s gone through the lowest of lows and I’ll never forgive myself for my contribution to her pain.
My mum sent me $2,000 recently. “To help” she said. Never said what with. Just to help. Apparently she’d given my brother the same amount. After all the shit we put her through, she still reached out and gave us what, in her eyes, must have been a fortune. I tried to give it back. She simply said, “You’ll do no such thing” and the subject was dropped.
People say my mum’s strong. I don’t know what my mum is. I’ve seen her broken. I’ve seen her destroyed. Shit, I’ve helped destroy her. But she’s still here, smiling, sending me jokes.
Nowadays she still has an alcoholic son. She has another son the drugs have definitely taken their toll on. She has no breasts and a dead baby under her belt. She has a divorce and a missing uterus. And yet, she’s my mum. My beautiful mum.
