#i think i am technically committing a /no it is the children who are wrong/ violation here #but it weirds me out when showrunners or creators or whatever are too far in fandom's business #i respect that making tv is not a democracy and you mr showrunner are not required to have the fans sign off on the canon content #but in my opinion being mr showrunner doesn't mean YOU get veto power over fandom content either #[drake voice] if you keep scrolling on ao3 you're gonna see some shit that you don't like #also tbh i do not understand the psychology of people who deliberately bring really fandomy stuff #to the attention of people involved in the canon #my best guess is that they think of canon and fandom as one big ecosystem and i think of fandom as a separate derivative ecosystem #i LIKE that they are separate and i think it's good that it stays that way tbh #idk i guess i do think of fandom participation as a hobby that is embarrassing a little bc there's so much emotional involvement #it is fine if my tumblr mutuals see me projecting onto fictional characters #we're all basically equals so it's fine to be vulnerable #an actor or a producer or an author is not my equal in the same way and i don't want them looking at my embarassing emotional games #even if i am using their characters as paper dolls to dress up in my own interests and concerns #not 2 get up on my soapbox again but maybe it is bad that all of humanity is on the same seven websites #¯\_(ツ)_/¯
