A sight of mild chaos-- two beings in a frenzied dance atop a hill, nothing elegant about the affair with a third party involved. An unwelcomed guest that Zero had refused it's rights to squatting in her derelict home long before Meir had even arrived on the scene. War was war, and she would be the victor by any means necessary, even if it meant corralling her dark-haired comrade unwillingly into the fray.
" Catch that stupid fucking rat-- it's getting away with my damn food! " A rat it was not entirely; it was obvious that her reasons for such a wild goose hunt were little more than scathing pettiness, a point to be proven. The odd rat-like creature was something of a magical creation, it's sole purpose of living to pointedly provoke the cursed witch ( if you asked her personally ). It scrambled about with glee, a piece of meat as large as its own body dangling from its mouth.
It could be inferred that this critter was deliberately mocking the pair at this point; dodging, weaving, even stopping for small reprieves of time in some form of game, just to sidestep any attempt at reaching for it. Talk about all-encompassing fury on Zero's part, as that little creature zipped an abrupt hard right while she swooped for it, to the misfortune of Meir who had crossed her path in hopes to not be caught in its sly trickery.
A misfortune, indeed. The ensuing collision was none but ungraceful and teeth-gritting, legs being swept out from underneath each other, arms flailing in odd directions, and the sinking feeling of futility as the impending sloped ground rushed towards them. Down the hill they tumbled, rolling over each other and hitting hard earth with appropriate grunts and groans at each bit of air knocked out of them until they crashed at a dead stop, all entangled limbs and bruised skin.
" Fuck...ow... " Zero moans out first, a dizzy spinning still disorienting her as she tried to get her bearings, hands feeling about for the ground beneath her while she rose from her sprawled position...only to open her eye to a second near-collision of Meir, who'd begun his own movement to slip from their more bound situation. There he hovered over her with hands planted at either side, legs still partially twined with hers, their faces now looming mere inches from each other.
Any and all words dry up in her throat. A rosen eye catches the immediate attention of his slate grey's, and a thread of tension is created that binds the gazes like a force unknown. She swears she notices the subtle bobbing of his adam's apple in her peripheral, but what sets off her nerves is the warmth that floods in from his entire being. She realizes now with some clarity that she's grasped his wrist in her floundering to orient herself against the wavepool sloshing in her head, but now she's trapped herself in an unwinnable state. The Rose-Eyed Witch, fearsome and loathsome as she was, had found herself stuck underneath the flimsier body of this abyssal boy. Oh, but couldn't she just move him?...
Though she had regained her wits, it had seemed that he still suffered from his arduous journey down the hill, and the stability of his hands upon the ground faltered under his own weight. With the skid of his palm, they found themselves to now be nearly brushing noses. The sound of breathing vanished altogether, silence deafening in the thick air around them, yet still neither budged an inch away.
No, not away...closer, perhaps, drawn in, slow and nigh unnoticed by the other, even as the shock in the eyes softened along the ticking of time, slowly, heads tilting, ink black hair brushing over and mingling with silvery white, a soft exhale that tickled rosy lips and sent goosebumps raging over skin faster than her heartbeat. Maybe she was still dizzy from that fall, after all...
" --That god damned rat! " Zero's focus shifts, as the creature they had so carelessly forgotten made it's grand return-- by skittering across them both in a flagrant show of foolishness. Hauling herself to her feet in a flash, she barely tugs Meir up by his elbow enough for him to not immediately fall back over. With the flip of a switch, she's off spouting curses as if nothing ever happened. And truly, had anything happened at all? " Motherfucker! "
