i will say one criticism of williamson's damian that i don't think i agree with is the idea that him being friends with flatline is somehow OOC. IMO it's the least OOC bit of Williamson's writing (granted, not a hard bar to beat).

Like AFAIK she's not killing anyone atm, and we've seen him be fine with extending olive branches to Suren (who was going to destroy the world) and taking him along on the mission, the demon's fist (wanted to assassinate him and teen titans), mara (nearly killed him), and Maya (who wanted to kill him - granted for revenge not out of the blue) and even becoming very close friends with her (maya) later.

kids/teenagers who used to be involved in villainy are not a dealbreaker for damian, if anything he is extremely willing to give them second chances. he even articulates why it's wrong to kill people as "he (morgan ducard - the adult who tortured damian and wanted to kill him and his dad) was no different than I used to be, I just denied him the chance to change when I killed him" WHICH IS FUCKED UP AND PROBABLY NOT A HEALTHY WAY TO VIEW THINGS but does add another point of evidence for post R:SoB damian not really holding past crimes/past awfulness against people.

one could argue that we see flatline still doing crime stuff (i think?), rather than 100% turning over a new branch, but I think it's ill defined enough that it doesn't really cross a moral line.

I mean, he didn't, that's part of the parody tumblr purpose. I guess I switched my usual purpose of posting things that are intended to look unflattering out of context and instead posted something that looks way softer out of context :P when issue 5 of Robin 2021 came out, I kept seeing those panels posted around tumblr to use as evidence that Jason and Damian had a much closer relationship than they do, and often that goes along with the popular headcanon of "Damian and Jason knew each other in the league and Jason did all this positive or soft stuff for Damian that we do not see in canon"

Nika alias Flatline, a character created by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Gleb Melnikov, was introduced in Robin(2021) run—where Damian Wayne as the fifth Robin running off home attended the Death tournament on Lazarus Island.

Nika is the first opponent Damian faces on the island and she proceeds to take his first life with her signature move— ripping his heart out with her bare hand (no one actually dies, people would have three lives during the tournament on the island).

She is a Russian metahuman girl and a martial arts fighter, with the power to absorb the skills of people who had died in her hands.

Question for the Tim Drake fans! (And anyone who knows his comics)

Has Tim been in anything recently? I’m probably just being paranoid but it feels like they’re trying to turn Damian into Tim so they can push Tim to the side lines.

Damian fans already know he gets white washed to hell and back but the middle part hair style is definitely sus.

And I know the feeling of wanting Damian’s character to be written outside of the standard loop of “will he be evil or choose good?” And I get that Joshua Williamson isn’t that liked but it feels like Damian’s story did a complete 180 from Robin (2021) where it talked about how Damian and his maternal side were healing. And how he wanted to make Lazarus Island a safe haven. He claimed to have wanted to bring back old characters and although he briefly brought back Mara no one else made a cameo.

It just feels like DC is pushing for this new ‘high school’ Damian narrative and while the Arab in me is proud he chose soccer as a sport I can’t help the feeling that this is getting weird.

Again, it could be the paranoia talking. Wouldn’t surprise me if the staff just didn’t want Damian to be good while living with his maternal side because can you imagine his Arab/Chinese half being a positive influence!? (Sarcasm)

Anyways, let me know my theory has a bit of standing on the Tim Drake side of things.

Why do comics change Damians' skin color. It's not even like different comic runs that go on at the same time, but comics that change his skin halfway through the series. An example of this would be Robin 2021, where he went from

Just look at him. Don't you just love how he looks from the nose to the eyes all the way to the to his height.

Then they change it to this

I'm sorry, but those are not the same characters. Yes, I know that is damian, and he acts like Damian, but what was the point of changing his design. No one else got a redesign besides Damian. If you can even call it a redesign since, the only thing they change is his skin and features.

And no hate to the artist, but DC has a really big colorist problem. In the beginning, Damian was murding again and returned to his roots. He looked like his Talia, but when he became good again, he looked like Bruce but with green eyes.

When Damian is evil or troublesome, he is usually depicted with darker skin, but when he is good, he has paler skin.

The same can be said about talia and other characters that turn lighter or darker depending on how their morality is depicted.

getting to the end of robin 2021 and i actually rlly like the arc the story takes ? it's kind of epic. again, idk abt damian's overall arc, and the willingness to kill has still thrown me off, but at issue 10 im saying as a response to alfred's death and the impact that has on damian... it compells me :)

maybe i'll get around to finishing it then bc what i've seen from ur liveblog has some good stuff.. i honestly forgot that alfred got killed. and also that damian was there when it happened and he couldn't stop it and he thinks bruce blames him for it that's soo good it's got so much meat to it. like yeees deal with the guilt and anger and grief <3
