A: No. Please don't make us figure out copyright law. Use this in your fanfics all you want, but don't use Apiary in any for-profit project.

Q: So it's free to use, otherwise?

A: Yeah; go nuts, show nuts. Make it horny, make it found family, make it an adoption story, make it weird and insidious or welcoming and warm, whatever floats your boats. But gods, at least make it it queer. Do whatever you like, as long as it's got wild queer undertones in it that would drive an academic wild. (And you don't make people pay to read it.)

Daycare teachers, babysitters and nannies, aunties and uncles, grandparents, neighbors, friends' parents, stepparents... All of them can be extra parents. The only solid definition of a parent I care about is "someone who parents you".

I do think it's pretty funny that fanfic premises based on illegitimate kids as an excuse for crossovers over the years have gone from "Mom character CHEATED on Dad character 😡" to "once upon a time, mommy and daddy had a threesome and now we have YOU!" lmaoooo. People don't want marital discord they just want a third parent

I mean, sure? But the actual audience it's intended for is babies. It's kind of inconsequential whether or not an adult likes a show for infants.

So...where do the IDEAS for children’s shows even COME from

If you want a real answer, they're usually early child development based; I don't know what rationale they used for teletubbies specifically, but baby faces and different emotions are important for little kids to see and socialize with in order to foster emotional recognition and empathy, as well as facial recognition skills. Bright, contrasting, primary colors are easier for babies to distinguish. Exposure to different shapes of their...teletubby antennae...helps with pattern recognition skill. Etc etc.

everything usually comes from SOMETHING. The making of coherency out of the whole thing is another matter entirely though
