Another Sir Terry Pratchett interview on the details of writing Good Omens with Neil Gaiman. (More about this process x).
Question about how he goes about collaborating with someone else ( @neil-gaiman).
Terry: “You make them do what you want”.

Since it is world book day, I thought I would share once again one of my most heavily annotated, scrapbooked, lived in books- Good Omens.
I usually scrapbook inside my books, but this one is the only one that has things in almost every single page. These are just the pages with double spreads.
To the book that saved me and to Terry Pratchett and @neil-gaiman , thank you 🥂.
I did add some image descriptions. So you get some clues about all the things I put in each spread.
(Because someone asked in the tags: “how can you read it? Reread it??”
Well simple answer: this edition, like many others, happen to have black pages with just the days of the week printed on them, which I left visible, and plenty of empty spaces where I glue/draw everything else, so nothing is covered at all. Plus having so much stuff inside has actually made it easier to open. )

hi neil, today is my eighteenth birthday! i was born on 06/06/2006, or in shorter terms 6/6/6!!
this may be a little too much to ask and this may amount to being a very boring word but could i have the 6th word on the 6th line of page 6 of the first episode of Season 3 of Good Omens? as im assuming episode 6 isn't written yet!!
It's "to" for Episode 1.
And I'm afraid it's "a" for Episode 6.
Happy birthday anyway.

Valley of the Dolls in Dead Boy Detectives: A neat reference that I haven’t seen mentioned around is that Edwin read and lent to Monty “Valley of the Dolls”.
Tumblr media
Now, Edwin is bright and well-read and yet he did not manage to understand the whole plot of the book.
Now, the plot of the book could be tied with his life, but it is not as relevant as the title. “The Dolls” of the book ultimately refer to the various pills the protagonists were taking. For Edwin, Dolls have a very different meaning, but they could also be translated as a “hard pill to swallow” because hell is the “valley”of those “pills”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again the title also refers to the three heroines of the book and how Hollywood played with them; and when they didn't fit in with what was required (or what they thought was required), they were discarded like used toys (like dolls).
Tumblr media
And that is precisely what happens to Edwin. Discarded not only as a doll, but constrained for 76 years to become pieces of dolls.
Apart from the very obvious, that Edwin’s hell is literally called “The Dolls House”, an allusion to the original Sandman volume, but also a play on the book he mentions later.

So the “are you sure they are wrestling” statue that David signed is now up for sale. Maybe someone here can get it so that Michael can sign the other cheek.

Although these are all about characters, I wrote about the process and the first draft here.

Reblogging for the pins! Yes, the easter eggs are amazing. Check out the photo behind the magnifying glass at the end too! I can’t fit everything because of space here, but also notice how the cat in the frame is dressed as Edwin with a bowtie.
The Dead Boy Detectives opening credits and its details:

The dancing sequences (PREVIZ - MOTION TESTS by Lee Buckley) developed initially and some of the process of animating the skeletons and background:
Here is another video of George and Jayden trying to recreate the dance moves.

Everyone involved in the design of the opening credits:

Important to note: Steve Yockey has said several times that Dead Boy Detectives is like the Hardy Boys on acid. They tried to maintain the very psychedelic and colorful aspect of the comics, whilst also working with darker shades.
The lighting is said to be a mix of blues and purples, but it is also a play on the four main colors of the heroes: Edwin (blue), Charles (red), Crystal (purple) and Niko (pink).

This is so sweet! Lo and behold, some character names from the opening sequence of s1! I was not actually expecting to see them. The names are hilarious.
The Peter Anderson Studio and how they originally developed the ineffable opening sequence for Good Omens.

Reblogging because this comment made my day. Thank you.
Good Omens 2 opening sequence easter eggs:

I had originally posted these after the last Ineffable Con, but in separate posts. A lot of the things mentioned here were covered in the Con and said by Peter Anderson. (He actually left this comment).

Other easter eggs are mentioned inside of the X ray section of Prime! You can watch an extensive behind the scenes there and appreciate how the flames here were built using cotton balls or how the tartan hills were made. (Including our little spider friend, which I also asked some extra pictures from because the original concept was very creepy). You can see them better here.

More asks about the same thing and something I made a long time ago:
hello mr. gaiman,
so there is this nursery rhyme that goes:
A frog he would a-wooing go, Heigh ho! says Rowley, A frog he would a-wooing go, Whether his mother would let him or no. With a rowley, powley, gammon, and spinach, Heigh ho! says Anthony Rowley.
especially the "heigh ho says anthony rowley" caught my attention as it sounds quite similar to “ 'Heigh ho,' said Anthony Crowley, and just drove anyway" line from the book . is there any chance that you were inspired by this song or is it just a wild coincidence?
It's where Crowley got his first name from.
