Really annoying in fiction when they spend hours and hours being like ooooh this character has something terrible on their shoulders, they feel super guilty about an unspecified thing that they did, the weight of their shameful past is crushing their psyche and driving their every move, and then they finally reveal what the thing is and it’s fucking nothing. Like just some stupid shit that’s not their fault or not that serious or a combination of both. Puff of smoke.

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).

Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:

Fictional characters are objects.

They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

Every night I have to kick my cat out of the bedroom because I know he’s going to fuck around and try to eat all of my stuff. And inevitably he starts yelling and scratching relentlessly at the door until I let him in. At which point he starts fucking around and trying to eat all of my stuff. And as soon as I get up to kick him back out, he just stops what he’s doing and walks out on his own like “understandable have a nice day”

#it’s been nearly a year now of trying and failing to him-proof this room #I think he gets it. I really do. will not stop chewing all of the items though. #the worst part is I have to kick out my well behaved cat too because my crazy one has horrible separation anxiety and can’t be alone 😭😭😭 #If I manage to drain all of his energy during the day then they can sleep on the bed with me but most days it’s impossible

Having a cat who watches tv is all fun and games until you put on a horror movie and he’s sitting there staring unblinking at the gore scenes and you’re like please don’t look at that you’re one years old
