So i recently re-watched Goncharov (1973) and continues to be one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces i’ve ever scene, but for one specific character!! no, it’s not Katya (although she will always be my number 2) it’s actually Peter, Katyas brother! now i know what you’re going to say, “hes a minor character” or “he doesn’t do anything important!” 

but, what you all fail to see, is the true meaning behind his character! he’s first shown as an outsider, never knowing what’s really going on. he’s seen as different, or too soft for the mafia world. but he always believes in doing the right thing, he believes in a cause! he believes in his sister! always there to comfort her, gave her the gun she used to stand-off Goncharov, and always by her side. 

he isn’t as quick-witted or strong as the other characters, but he has the vibes of someone you’d be comfortable around, like a calming presence in the storm. his character shows love isn’t just romance, he’s always there for the ones he cares about, even if he doesn’t know exactly what’s going on. he’s given no romantic interest to show the only person he truly loves is his sister, his twin.

i just always want to give him a big hug, knowing full well he’d hug me back. i love these kind of characters and they will never stop being my favorites!!
