a/n: i just like writing angst so here’s another one lol
you were never the type to ask for anything, wanting to avoid being a burden or bother to others.
and maybe that’s why things led up to how it is now. here you were in the dark, sitting alone in your room as you bask in this sullen atmosphere you created for yourself. your mind flashes back to the scenario that happened only hours ago— sunghoon clad with some unfamiliar girl wrapped tightly to his side. the worst part? the boy didn’t bother to explain himself when he saw you, instead opting to smirk at your hurt figure and went about with his day.
maybe you were foolish. foolish to believe that sunghoon was the slightest bit serious when it came to your relationship. you knew he wasn’t the type to be tied down but all thoughts flew out of the window the day he decided to ask you out, giving him the benefit of the doubt.
your thoughts were interrupted at the sound of your door opening as sunghoon’s figure made its way to the light, cursing to yourself as you forgot you gave the boy a spare key to your home. the boy walked in seeming unbothered while you on the other hand shifted uncomfortably.
“why are you here hoon.”
he furrowed his brows at your tone. “what do you mean why?” his eyes make its way to your figure. “are you not happy to see me?”
you were in disbelief. was he really going to act like he didn’t do anything wrong? it was as if the world revolved around him and him only, it made you scoff.
“are you fucking with me right now?” the anger inside you was starting to rise. “you’re really going to act like you did nothing wrong?”
sunghoon took notice of your angered state, only making him frustrated and confused. was this about earlier? if it was, he couldn’t understand why you were being dramatic, its not like you two were anything serious.
“if this is about earlier you’re over reacting.” he scoffs finding the situation ridiculous.
it was beyond you how he could take the situation so lightly. it was funny how he could tell you how much he loved you, how much he wouldn’t trade you for the world throughout your relationship but now you could only think about how naive you were to believe him in the slightest— or maybe you knew all along and just treated it as if it was true, either way it hurt. the boy sighs as he makes way to sit at the edge of your bed, a slight dip being made as he reaches out to grab at your hand.
you stare at the hand that once felt like it molded perfectly with yours start to feel foreign— as if it was a stranger. sunghoon notices the change in your eyes. what was once anger subsided into acceptance and bitterness, the weight of reality crumbling down like a brick wall.
you retracted your hand. “overreacting?” you laugh to yourself. “fine, lets say that i was.”
you began to think about your relationship— were you ever really happy? maybe you were, maybe you weren’t but all you knew was that sunghoon wasn’t good for you.
“are you seriously going to be petty about it?” this time, anger begins to build up in sunghoon. “why do you always act like a child? you’re always acting upon your emotions.”
“i’m sorry that i have feelings, is that what you want to hear?” you furrowed your brows, nostrils flaring in anger. “i’m sorry for not allowing myself to be ran over like some side piece— for finally realizing my worth.”
sunghoon’s mouth gapes, not being able to find the right words to say. the silence was deafening as you took time to collect yourself, prepping yourself for what was about to come.
you took a deep breath before staring directly into the boys eyes. “let’s break up.”
there it was. the one sentence that seemed more liberating than hurtful now that you’ve laid all your cards out on the table. the fact that you initiated the break up seemed to touch at sunghoon’s feelings as you can visibly see his nose scrunch in discomfort— whether it was his ego or feelings being hurt, you didn’t care anymore.
sunghoon bitterly nods his head at you before scoffing. “you’re seriously going to break up with me over that?” he stands up. “what a joke.” he mutters, slamming your door.
and it was until then that you realized you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. the next question you pondered over was what happens next? you weren’t sure. you looked up to the ceiling closing your eyes as a stray tear fell down.
maybe it did hurt you, maybe you were too in love with him but all you knew was that you were tired— and maybe it was for the better. right. for the better.

—a/n: sorry i haven’t been working on any imagines lately, i’ve been occupied with working on my current au !! for now, enjoy this short imagine i created on a whim
“jake sim. did you just throw me off of that building?” you narrowed your eyes at the figure beside you.
jake showed you a sheepish smile in attempt to soothe your already growing irritation. what started as a simple movie night suddenly transitioned to a competitive game of party animals. this was your third game and counting and the boy continued to throw, head-butt and punch you off every platform he could.
jake shook his head before wrapping his arms around your waist. “now why would i do that?” lips jutting out in attempt to seem innocent.
as you looked away, jake couldn’t help but to admire you as his thoughts began to cloud his mind. maybe it was the way your lips would slightly pout whenever you rambled, or the way you would fiddle with his fingers out of habit. whatever it was, you had him wrapped around your finger and he wouldn’t trade you for the world.
his thoughts were interrupted as your hands began to wave in front of his face. “earth to jake?” his eyes met yours. titling your head, you smiled slyly. “daydreaming about me again? typical.”
jake shakes his head as he brings his hands to attack your sides. “i was just— i was just joking!” you laugh in between breaths, swatting at his hands to get him to stop. you feel hands cup your face as kisses are peppered from your forehead, nose, cheeks and lips.
“ok ok i’ll stop teasing now.” you huff as your face is squished together by no other than jake’s hands.
your heart skips a beat as jake flashes a smile at you, tucking a stand of hair behind your ear. “have i ever told you i love you?”
that’s all it took—that cheeky smile of jake’s and that one line that had butterflies kicking around in your stomach. “i mean yea, several times.” you mumble softly. as if jake can sense your sudden nerves, he chuckles at you before swooping in to place a kiss on your lips.
“you wanna go for another round on party animals? i’ll even let you win.”
as if all your previous feelings had disappeared, you narrowed your eyes at the cheeky man feeling more competitive than ever.
“bring it on lover boy.”

—a/n: not my best work but it’s been sitting in my drafts for a while so i felt obligated to finish it. i’ll add the read more function when they finally fix the damn bug bc it kept messing up my work
was there a way to rekindle your relationship? was it too late? the thoughts never left jay’s mind. if he would have known it would have come to this he wouldn’t have followed his dreams, he’d drop every thing just to have you in his life.
my love: can we meet up at the park tonight? i need to tell you something.
maybe, just maybe if he would have said he was busy it could have been avoided. so now, jay sits next to you as he begins to process your words.
“let’s break up.”
the two of you sit in silence unwilling to break the tension as both of you feared what would happen next.
“why?” jay’s voice shakes. “i thought–i thought we were doing fine?”
all you could do was stare into the distance, trying your hardest not to break at the sound of jay’s voice cracking. you love him, maybe a little too much that you were willing to sacrifice your own happiness for him—for his career. “you and me both know that this wouldn’t have worked out in the long run, not with how things are right now.”
“did the company say something to you?” you froze. jay’s tone was nothing but serious, hand grabbing out to hold yours. you sigh, shaking your head. “that’s not the point.”
it was hard lying to him knowing you were still in love with him but it didn’t matter at this point, you were in too deep and you couldn’t back out now. jay stumbled upon his words, finding every excuse, every reason for you to just stay. “please, no, we can make this work. you don’t have to listen to them! i’ll drop every–”
“no, jay. we can’t—you can’t.” jay couldn’t help but flinch at your tone, his heart twinged at your expression.
“don’t you think this is a bit selfish?”
you sucked in a breath at his choice of words, tears beginning to brim at the corner of your eyes. maybe your reasoning was a bit selfish in his eyes but you didn’t want to jeopardize his career, you didn’t want him to give up everything he was working towards for you. for the longest time, you always pondered over the thought that maybe you were the one holding him back. the fear that everything he was working towards would crumble down as soon as the world comes to know that the world renowned park jay had a girlfriend. you didn’t want him to resent you.
“listen to me jay–”
“no, no i understand perfectly.” jay began to shake his head as you watch his expression turn dull. the emotions you suppressed from the very beginning began to betray you as your tears started to slowly fall. “if this it it then i hope you’re happy. thank you for the 3 years we spent together, if that even meant anything to you.”
with a heavy heart, you watched as the boy you were in love with walk away from you, leaving you to bask in the sorrow that filled the nights air.
maybe jay was right, maybe you were selfish.
