IT’S HERE! IT’S HERE!! IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!
THAT…. THING IVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR TWO HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE YEARS IS HERE!
This thing predates the you-know-what. This thing has consumed every waking MOMENT. Of my life. For the last two years. And now you can look at it.
I’ve been working on this fic series day in day out, readying it for posting…. and today is that day. We’re starting.
It’s a series about defectiveness in the empire. It’s a series about conspiracies. It’s a series about Tallest Red. It’s a series about a bunch of people that aren’t Tallest Red. It’s a series about a lot of things. Go look at the summary if you want more info.
The first fic in the series, though, is an anthology. About- what else?- defects. And the first chapter of that fic is about…
It’s about….
…uh…
…how about you just go see for yourself. No warnings because I genuinely am not sure what this falls under. Unreality, maybe? Yeah. Let’s go with that.

he uhhhh are u still?? Active?? Like with that fantastic iz comic n everything?
Just curious cuz it’s my favorite thing on the Internet rn
Also I love the way you draw Gir he looks so soft and baby
I am! I just got back from a long unplanned hiatus so I'm still getting back into the swing of things with my new schedule, but yes!! The comic and AU are ongoing.
Granted, I'm also juggling my final year of nursing school as well as a part time job so updates will be a little sporadic, but they WILL happen. I just don't have the time to sit at my computer for 12+ hours in a single sitting to smash out an entire comic from first draft to final product the way I used to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For a moment, Skoodge’s world was red. The red of Zim’s eyes, the red of the hallway, red red RED.
“...Nothing happened, Skoodge.” Zim said, low and intense and just a touch off-center, “and nothing is GOING to happen. Because Zim is perfect.”
A gift for @sparrowhawkandco who wrote an amazing follow up fic to that one comic I made a while back where Skoodge asks a few too many questions about Zim’s rumored deactivation. Spoiler; Skoodge hasn’t learned his lesson yet.
OP sent me this fic when I was in a pretty bad place and it really gave me that inspiration kick I needed to finally dust off my drawing tablet again. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did!

Hey, not to get too personal but I just wanted to check up on you!! It's been months, you doing okay?
Tumblr media
Yup!
My life has been a chain of increasingly impossible to deal with events over the last several months but I'm doing a lot better now.
It might take a little while for me to adjust to being a functional human being again but I'm hoping to be more active here going forward nonetheless :)

Linguistics AU Part 11: The Burden of Proof
Masterpost
>>Read the Previous Comic Here<<
Wow! Dib finally got what he’s always wanted!! …right?
This part didn’t originally exist in the outline but I decided I wanted to dip into Dib’s POV a little bit here. Zim will be back full force in the next update I promise.
Sorry for the delay between updates! Life happened. A lot. You know how it be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Back in school.
Back in place
Back in school,
Back in Chains,
Back in school,
back in my cage
-Mother Mother- Back in School
Dib was angry he didn’t see Zim in skool after all that, because he was for certain he would. He thought Zim would gloat and be obnoxious he was that close to conquering the Earth. Just like he usually does when he “almost wins”. Just because the Earth got sent back to normal and no one cares doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to not care with the rest of them. Zim had to be planning something huge… it’s the only explanation… and he’s going to get to the bottom of this.. and with his Dad’s support he’ll be able to expose Zim faster than Zim can even say “Eh”
(You are on Part ONE of the Back to Skool arc) (Part Two Coming soon)
Takes place After the Judgementia ARC
But Before the GIR ARC
Masterpost
There’s a lot of references to Membrane’s Guide in this but it’s not necessary to read.
All you need to know is that Zim took to hiding in a toilet around the same time Dib stopped coming to Skool last year when his father had a traumatic shark attack and had a long road of recovery.
(Zim thought he was being ignored… hid in a toilet… and Dib didn’t notice and start to be a recluse until sometime last summer.. and that’s when he became a chair..hope that’s understandable.)
Also the public opinion is very “split” these days which is why the skoolkids are unsure what to think on Professor Membrane himself, but they’re willing to buy his explanation if it makes Dib seem crazy.
I’m glad we’re gonna get into the solid meat of this thing. This will be fun. You’re absolutely crazy if you think I’m gonna make my Dib just Steven Universe or Lilo and Stitch Lite… blood will be shed.

Came by to check on you since I felt I hadn't seen you in a while but I see you already talked about this. So I'm instead sending an ask/message just to say I hope you're hanging in there! Take care of yourself 💖
Aww, thanks! That's so sweet of you! ♥️
And I'm doing a lot better! I'm hesitant to say I'm back for good because I have this curse where everytime I do Something Else happens and makes me a liar. But I will say that I am currently working on stuff... and that stuff may or may not appear on this blog at some time in the (not too distant) future. Hopefully that doesn't tempt fate too much 👀

Post-Florpus AU but as vines. So Invader Zim Vines but inner jokes for those who just read my au.
Some can be considered spoilers but they’re pretty vague  Some are badly drawn so don’t take this too seriously.
Just something to show everyone where my new tumblr is now.
Time taken: roughly 9 hours
This was fun to make

Give the headcanon essay on Irken Love!! Gib!!!💖💕
When I think of Irkens and love, I think of the Guante line: Your job is to protect your family. And your family is everyone. Irkens are, at the base, a eusocial species. This isn’t a Control Brain thing, this is something that was at the root of their society and their species before Brains, before PAKS, before technology and space travel. If anything, the implementation of those things made Irkens less of a hive mind, not more. (The Empire, as of now, separates Irkens into individualized spaces, while still asking them to be part of a collective. It... causes problems.)
Irkens don’t have parents, siblings, spouses, cousins, or friends. Irkens have the “Us”.
Tumblr media
What someone’s “Us” is depends on the Irken and the Irken’s encoding, but overall, it tends to be the group you’re part of. A Navigator or a Pilot’s Us is a fleet or an armada. A Smeetery Supervisor’s Us is their smeets and the other Supervisors. Invader is such a revered encoding partially because it’s so demanding. Not only do you need to have expertise in several military fields, it’s a job you do alone and that isolation is taxing. (It’s also why the risk of going native is so high--without an Us that’s fulfilled by other Irkens, that Invader naturally goes looking for it elsewhere, which is what happens to Purple in “Final Exam”.) But even if they’re apart from other Irkens, they still have the Us of the Invasion as a whole. They still have an Us, it’s just one you only see like twice a year. For a Tallest, because they’re the only ones with their encoding, their Us is the entire Irken Empire. Not that there’s much choice, they don’t have anyone else. Usually. Red and Purple are one of the uncommon (but not at all unheard of) cases of an Us being formed with just two Irkens. Since they get all the attachment and social bonds they need from each other, it hinders their ability to attach to the rest of the Empire like they’re supposed to. Even then, while their tiny Us of two is top priority, they’re still Irkens and the rest of the Empire is still their Us. The same can be said for all other Irkens: groups within groups are just an Us within an Us.
It’s not so much that the individual doesn’t matter so much as that the individual is simply part of a whole that matters more. Your blood cells matter--if you bleed to death, you’ll find out real quick how much they matter. But a papercut’s different than a stab wound. Losing ten drops of blood is an inconvenience; losing ten pints is a death sentence. Likewise, the loss of one Irken is a statistic, but the loss of a thousand Irkens is a tragedy.
Irkens love their Us the same way you love your wife, not just your wife’s small intestine. You’re glad it exists, you’re glad the intestine keeps your wife alive and healthy, but that’s about it.  A Commander loves their fleet, not Elite Skoodge. A Frylord loves their work staff, not Food Drone Gashloog. A Tallest loves The Irken Empire, not Invader Larb. (This is the trouble with defectives. A defective, at the root, is an Irken that cannot or will not be part of the Us. And if you’re not Us... well. That can only mean you’re Them.)
Does this mean Irkens don’t have individual bonds or friendships? Absolutely not.
It’s uncommon for those bonds to be strong, and it’s unusual for those bonds to last beyond a few years.
Why? The same reason any species makes a lot of babies in the first place: most of those creatures aren’t going to live.
Before the Irkens went to war, they were busy being eaten all the time. If the mortality rate for your clutch, your fleet, or your squadron is going to be at least 50%. When everything wants to eat you, whoever you decided to bond to probably isn’t going to make it through the next five years.
But even if your war buddy gets devoured, who do you still have? The squadron. Who will you always have? The Empire. Investing your love in an individual is foolish, dangerous, and asking for heartbreak, which is why most Irkens don’t do it.
It’s a lousy investment. It’s a dumb investment.
The Tallest are pretty dumb. Zim’s kinda dumb sometimes, too. A lot of Irkens are, really.

hey xyrn you haven't posted in awhile, you doing okay?
Um...kinda? It's a long story.
I won't go into it too much here, but I've been dealing with some heavy personal stuff irl lately and needed to take a step back from art/fandom stuff to deal with everything.
The situation is ongoing (and probably will be for the foreseeable future) but I'm in a much better headspace now and am slowly finding the motivation to get back into art stuff. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things over the next week or so :)
Thanks to everyone for being patient with me during this impromptu hiatus! <3
