i was obsessed the first time i saw someone post leon on that stupid panda rocker but i was never able to find raw footage of it lol, so i decided to compile leon with all the playground interactions because i love him <3
It feels nice to have physical proof that I've improved because I remember being so proud of the original. I can't wait to come back in another couple of years and to see change again
Happy Halloween season! Here's another stab at my own take of Carrie White, based on her book description. I'm super happy with how these turned out! I'd love to tackle some of the other characters in the book eventually, especially Margaret!
Leon just really is such a tragic character. I think a lot of people assume that the "Leon's being kept in the government against his will, otherwise they'll kill him," is just an assumption made based on how they treat him but that's actually canon. He cannot leave and they threatened to kill him. And that just makes it so much worse when you think about how Leon doesn't want to kill anyone, he doesn't want to be involved with the government or BOWs, but he doesn't get to decided and with every mission he's forced to go on, he feels like he loses part of his humanity.
Leon being forced to "work" for the government was originally canon as of the original RE3 epilogue. When you completed the game, you were able to view the epilogue files for various different characters. Leon revealed than him and Sherrry had been abducted by the government and they were coercing Leon into service through threatening Sherry directly, and implicitly threatening his life.
It was brought up again in the Darkside Chronicles: Memory of a Lost City final cutscene. The opening narration from the agent says "We have the authority to do what we what with you. You and that girl." Then we see Leon's locked in a cell and they're interrogating him. He pleads with them to let her go but the man tells him that he has the experience they're looking for and if he wants this to end peacefully, he really has "only one choice."
It was similar in RE4R too where in the opening narration, Leon says he was "asked" to join a top secret program. It was meant to be a reference to a significant part of the lore that seemed... lost... with RE6 despite that being the game in which Leon and Sherry reunite.
In an interview with one of the scenario writers for the games, Yasuhisa Kawamura, he also clarified that if Leon said no the government would've killed him. And we know Leon was suicidal anyway based on the RE6 files and both of the novelizations, so ultimately his decision was more for Sherry than himself.
Damn, if Rebecca a nickel for everytime she met a former cop who was kidnapped by the US government and forced to work for the AUPIT unit because they knew "too much" about Umbrella (and seemingly) the US' involvement, she's have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that capcom just slapped that info into Tyler's backstory only for it to never be mentioned again. (You guys should go watch Biohazard: The Stage, which is a canon play that has Chris, Becca, and Piers in it!)
