[6:45 AM]
Two years after the decimation
Felix wakes up with a gasp. He quickly turns over in the sheets to frantically feel for the other denizen of his bed, sighing with relief when his fingers bump your hips. Felix can’t fight tearing up when you wake with a groan, his hands moving up your body and attaching them to your cheeks.
“Felix,” you say quickly, noticing his glistening tears in the moonlight. “Felix, you're crying.. are you ok?”
“It was that dream again,” he says, a catch in his throat. He leans forward to rest his forehead against yours. “I keep seeing you disappear. I… I feel that if I sleep you'll be dust by morning, like everyone else and-”
“I'm here, baby,” you say, hugging him close. “You need to sleep, ‘lix. We'll be okay, I promise. I'm not going to vanish.”
“I miss them, (Y/N). I miss them so much.” Felix knows that he can cry in front of you. He's done it nearly every night since it happened. “I want them back.”
You feel yourself tearing up now, too. “I miss them too, ‘lix. But they would want you to get some sleep, okay? We can go to visit the memorial tomorrow.”
“Okay. I'll try.”
“I'll always be here, I love you,” you close your eyes, trying not to let more tears fall.
“I love you too, (Y/N). You're all I have left.”

[3:02 AM]
You think it's just past three in the morning when you wake up. You're still not used to having such a weak bladder, no matter how far along you get. Sighing and shaking your head with a smile you do your best to haul yourself out of bed and make it into the bathroom. You cringe and freeze in place as you hear one of the floorboards creak, but when the other denizen of your bed doesn't move, you continue your quest.
Relief floods your mind and body as you sit on the toilet in the bathroom, rubbing your tummy. “You're a huge pain, you know that? Hmm, my little angel.” you chuckle quietly to yourself. “You'll fit right in.” You continue to struggle through your routine, washing your hands and waddling back to bed.
Once there, you creep back under the covers and feel the cool night air completely disappear from your body. Chris, in his sleep, turns over and cuddles up to you, his hand coming to gently rest on your belly. He smells good, like sea spray and open air. You watch him for a moment as he breathes slowly, in and out. In moments like these, you can hardly believe that it's not all just a dream.
Before you're able to close your eyes and join your husband in dreamland, he opens his eyes, a giant smile immediately spreading across his face.
“Had to pee again?” he asks, voice raspy with sleep. His hand begins to rub gentle circles on your tummy, keeping sleepy eye contact as you nodded.
“Yeah, I think it was the pickle juice,” you say, your own smile forming when he sticks his tongue out at you.
“You and your cravings,” he muses quietly. “I'll be so much happier when this little mite comes out of you, I can't bear to watch you drink pickle juice and eat vegemite covered ice cream in front of my mom again…”
You're barely able to hold in your giggles. “Would you rather have my cravings or go without sleep for months?”
He smiled, “I have to deal with both either way, right?”
“Right.”
He scooches over the best he can to kiss you. “I love you, vegemite ice cream and everything else that comes with you.”
“I love you, too.”
“Get some rest if you can, we have a checkup tomorrow.” He breathes in and out deeply, closing his eyes.
“Okay.” You follow his lead, listening to the faint sounds of the Australian ocean outside. You snuggle into bed, your mind drifting away.
Life is good.

[??:?? PM]
It's hot, and you can feel sweat dripping from your brow. Not that you've ever known anything else, but at least you had a pool of water to refresh your skin at Citadel. You've heard countless stories of how beautiful Australia once was, spanning fields with large trees surrounded on all sides by a salty ocean that was filled with blue, shimmering water. That you could swim in it forever and discover all sorts of new things. Despite how much you imagined wading into the sea, part of you knew not to dream of it because it was never coming back.
Escape was all you thought about for the longest time, leaving captivity and finding the Green Place. The last piece of Earth that wasn't dead, that was like the stories you were told. Where women roamed freely and dug just as deep as the war boys for the highly sought after cola of life.
Chris was the least sickly of all the war boys in the compound where you were kept most of your life. He had no bumps, lumps, or lips so chapped they scarred. He was raised different than the other boys, living at the very top of the stone city ruled by the immortan.
He tended to the plants grown just outside your room, and would also often get to eat what wasn’t deemed good enough, pairing them with any mist he could catch on his tongue. Sometimes he was even allowed to catch glimpses of you through the vault door as the immortan went through. There were even times when he slipped through the cracks unnoticed.
He knew immediately, deep down, that your swelling belly was because of him. His heart grew more and more each day for you; the intelligent, kind and adoring girl behind the vault. He knew that he had to get you out, to free you, but he didn't know quite how. That was until he had been dragged into a plan that originally didn't involve him. He slipped into the vault the day you escaped, following Furiosa closely behind. She always knew he was there, sneaking in and out. Yet, she knew he was never close to a threat.
I won't go without Chris, you had demanded upfront, a hand on your belly. I love him, and if Joe finds out, he-
Fine, Furiosa agreed reluctantly, turning back to loom over him with intense eyes. I hope you're ready, war boy.
That was hours ago, and things were just beginning to look up. You all had escaped mostly unscathed with the help of another victim of the immortan’s cruelty; a man with no name. Chris offered his canteen to you, watching the sunset over the desert on the back of the war rig. You took a small sip, handing it back to him. You would arrive at the green place soon, after all your hardships. A new life could begin that resembled that of the old world.
“I can't wait to have little Felix there,” you whispered, clutching Chris’ hand tightly. “In the green place, in a meadow with lots of flowers.”
His lip twinged upward in a small smile. He didn't know what flowers were, but the word sounded nice coming from you. “You think they will be a boy?”
You smiled. “Yeah,” you nodded. “He will have your smile, curly hair, and your compassion.”
Chris chuckled with a smile. “Then he will get your kindness, your smarts and the same brown dots that cover your nose.”
You giggle softly. “Those are called freckles.”
“Yeah. He will get your freckles.”

[12:06 AM]
Johnny comes home, shutting the door quietly and slipping off his shoes. You smile at him from the nest of blankets on the couch, but tilt your head to the side and pause Titanic. Neither of you says anything, but you still know he's had a long and hard day.
Johnny immediately takes the invitation when you hold out your arms. When he approaches the couch, he bends down enough for you to kiss his forehead and run your hands through his hair. Johnny smiles tiredly at you, his eyes slowly blinking.
"Can I rest my head on your lap?" The request is soft, shaking almost. As if he's afraid to ask.
"Always." You move some of your blankets to the side and reveal your pyjama-clad legs, patting them. Johnny takes his spot on the couch, curling up and resting his head on your thigh. He reaches for the remote and resumes the movie, humming in contentment as soon as you begin gently patting his head.
Johnny falls asleep not five minutes later, one hand resting on your knee. You still absently play with the loose strands of his hair and run your fingertips gently across his jawline, happy that he was finally resting.

Yellow Umbrella → Kang Younghyun
Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Brian/Younghyun x Reader
↳  Word count: 697
↳ Notice: Based on How I Met Your Mother. Can/Will count as spoilers for the show!
⁙  Summary: Standing on a train platform in the rain under your yellow umbrella, your life changes forever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over the years, your yellow umbrella had taken quite an adventure throughout the world. You thought you had lost it forever ago when you were living in Toronto, having forgotten it in your drunken haze, dragged to some club for St. Patrick's day by one of your friends. It was gone for months until it mysteriously reappeared in your apartment around Christmas almost two years later.
While it wasn't uncommon for you to misplace things, it was strange how your silly bright yellow umbrella had managed to disappear and reappear in your life like that. After moving to Seoul, you had finally managed to keep it with you, now a prized possession and kept close to you at all times.
You knew in your heart that this umbrella would maybe lead to your own adventure, where the bright yellow waterproof barrier maybe wouldn't leave you behind. So you kept it.
It had all come to a head when you were standing on a nearly deserted train platform one night, violin case in hand. The rain was plummeting from the sky in thick, heavy drops. You stood underneath your trusty yellow umbrella, listening and watching the tracks for the lights of the train that would take you home. You had enough of drama-filled gigs, deciding to finally resign yourself to joining an orchestra. So much for your solo career.
"Hi there," the timid voice brought you back to the present world, watching a tall man with high cheekbones and a sheepish smile getting pelted with the rain. His red hair was soaked against his face, and you thought he may have been rushing through the storm for a while.
"Oh," you quickly lifted your umbrella in a silent offer. He quickly took it, joining you under its protection and holding the umbrella above you so he could stand up straight. "Hi there, I hope you don't catch a cold!"
"I think you might have just saved me from one," he laughed, adjusting the way he was standing to give you personal space. As you observed him through the dark, you noticed he had a guitar case strapped to his back. "I liked your performance."
You blushed. "You saw that? I feel really embarrassed about playing the violin for nine hours in a dead coffee shop,"
"Everyone starts somewhere," he said, smiling down at you. "You're talented."
"Thank you,'' you had barely known this man for five minutes and he is already making your heart beat rapidly, but your eyebrows furrow in confusion when his smile fades to something akin to realization.
"Wait a second," he says softly. "This is my umbrella!"
"What? No way, it's mine, I remember buying it!" You begin to laugh, but you quiet down when he shakes his head.
"I left this at my ex's place before I moved to Seoul!"
Your smile fades a little. "Wait, what?"
"Y-yeah! See, these are my initials on the handle. KY for Kang Younghyun." He pointed to his side of the umbrella, the label pasted on clear as day.
"But here are mine, (Letter) (Letter) for (Y/N) (L/N). I lived in Toronto up until two years ago." You're looking up at him with your finger on your own label when the epiphany also dawns on him. "Although, I did lose it for a while,"
"At a dance club on St. Patrick's Day… that's where I found it!" He beams at you, realizing the amazing chance that this all could happen. "You're Jessica's roommate," his voice is soft, memories coming back to him. There's something in his eyes. As if he had found something he had spent his entire life searching for.
"Yeah, I… I left it there,"
"And you never thought you'd see it again," Younghyun said softly, his tone nearly like a guess, looking you right in the eyes.
"I never thought I'd see it again," you repeated. A thought entered your head as you both looked at each other, "funny how… you just… find things."
Younghyun listened to you, and it took a few seconds before he spoke again. He took in a deep breath and smiled shyly, "hi,"
You giggled quietly. "Hi."
One Photo → Mark Lee [9] [END]
Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Mark Lee/Reader
↳  AU: Soulmate!AU - The first touch of two soulmates permanently scars their bodies.
↳  Warning: angst if you squint
↳  Word count: 2,857
↳  Chapters: Prelude | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | You Are Here!
⁙ Summary: For an end of the year photography project, you’re tasked with taking a photograph for your favourite group, NCT127, and coincidentally, discover your soulmate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TUESDAY - 9
Day by day, things got steadily worse. Your body was constantly giving out, you had trouble breathing, and whenever you ate something, you always managed to throw it back up. The weight loss and iron deficiency you had developed after the last periods you’ve had led to four clinic visits and one hospital scare. You tried to play it off to your boss, but enough was enough and you knew you were going to be let go.
It took a lot of thinking, but you had finally decided to do what you had to. So, there you stood, taping the last box closed. You had sold your final possession besides your bed and your oldest camera, handing the sealed box to the buyer who had been standing in your kitchen. “Thank you,” he said, smiling gently at you. “This is gonna make my daughter really happy. I…” he cleared his throat awkwardly; “I hope that you get better soon.”
You nodded, holding your breath for a moment to avoid coughing in his direction. “Of course. I hope she uses that camera well, it helped me a lot when I started college.”
After he left, you looked over the bare-boned atmosphere of your apartment. Your coffee table was gone, your bookshelf, your easel. Your little television, table and chair, and nearly all of your glassware and cutlery had been sold as well. Walking into your room, the only things that were left were your tote of movies with all of Mark’s cards and letters tucked inside, and a backpack with a second outfit, toiletries and your camera stuffed in it. Even your bed was stripped just to the bottom sheet, the summer hot enough and your fever high enough that you didn’t need blankets anyway. Today was finally the day you had finally procured enough money for a plane ticket, a one-way trip that hopefully would relieve the pain in your heart and the crushing pressure in your head.
While you lay in your bed, waiting for the night to pass, your phone, one of the last things you had to keep with you, buzzed. Rhiannon: How are you doing
You: I can never tell anymore
Rhiannon: Johnny, Hyuckie and I are going to meet you at the airport tomorrow. Mark’s getting pretty bad
Worry filled your chest, and you frowned at your screen.
You: Is he going to be okay? Rhiannon: we don’t know. He’s completely bedridden, I just hope that you don’t end up that way before your flight. I’m worried that they might not even let you on.
You: I have to try
Rhiannon: I know…
Rhiannon: I’ll see you soon, okay? I miss you
You: I miss you too.
At this point, getting onto your flight was the least of your worries. After putting down your phone, you mad managed to get about ten minutes of rest before you had to run to your bathroom to throw up the measly dinner you had put together with the small food budget you had set for yourself. Once you were sure your stomach had settled, you went back into your backpack and pulled out your toothbrush, returning to the bathroom to clean out your mouth.
Looking into the mirror above your sink, you noticed how bad you had really gotten. Your cheeks were hollow, your skin pale and underneath your sunken eyes were the works dark circles you’ve ever had. You brushed as slowly as you could, hoping that you wouldn’t start to feel nauseous again. After spitting and rinsing out the sink, you decided that maybe it would be better to just get up and go to the airport now.
You left your house key for the landlord on your kitchen counter with a note about where the spare was, stepping outside and locking the house with the spare, hiding it under your doormat before heading toward the elevator and beginning your journey.
Occasionally you’d lose your footing, your balance off and your legs weak. You would grab onto the wall to steady yourself, hoping that you wouldn’t pass out. About an hour of subway and streetcar riding, you finally made it to the airport. It was chilling to see so many eyes on you. You knew that coming in this condition would get you multiple looks and passing disgusted faces, but you felt like you were passed feeling embarrassed. The teller looked at you sympathetically when you asked for the Delta non-stop flight to Incheon.
“Soulmate?” She asked, tilting her head curiously when you slid her your ID and your debit card, all of the money you had from selling your things on it. Just enough to pay for your ticket.
“Yeah. Almost two years since I’ve seen him.” “My God,” she gasped, typing away on her keyboard. “It’s good you’re going now, I could never survive being away from my soulmate for that long. I was away from mine for a month when he was on a business trip and I was hospitalized!”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” you rasp, watching her smile sadly in your direction. “I hope things go well for you. Have a safe flight to South Korea.” She slid your ticket, debit card, ID and itinerary over her desk, watching you slowly reach out to grab it. “Get lots of rest when you land.” “Thank you, I’ll try.” Feeling a little more pleasant after being wished well, you continued on your way. Through customs, the security check and the passport check, you did your best to keep back any coughing and the creeping feeling of nausea that was beginning to overwhelm you. Finally, you arrived in the boarding area, taking a seat with your bag on the floor, in between your knees. It was still a while before your plane would even arrive, so you plugged in your phone and decided to watch a movie.
Night crept over the lounge, the windows displaying a slowly setting sun. After your movie ended you kept yourself occupied by watching the planes come and go until the tarmac was lit up with guiding lights that looked like stars.
‘Flight from Toronto to Incheon nonstop now boarding.’
Finally.
You stumbled along and waited in your line, looking at your seat number. It was near the back of the plane, which would be loud, but at least it was close to the bathroom. The boarding attendant gave you a look with squinted eyes, but he still scanned your ticket, looked at your passport and let you go through.
Down the hallway, your legs gave out and your body clattered to the floor. “Hey, are you alright!?” Someone behind you came running up, gently taking your arm and helping you off the floor. “Jeez, you just toppled over!” She observed you, holding you steady. “You’re nothing but skin and bones…” “Sorry,” you apologize, hoping that you’d stay upright when she let your arm go. “I haven’t been doing the best lately.” “That’s okay,” she assured you. “Don’t you worry one bit.” Cautiously, she began walking with you, holding out her hands as if she was expecting you to fall again. “Why are you here and not at home, resting?”
“I, well... this is soulmate sickness,” you explain cautiously. “My soulmate is doing worse than I am, and I decided to sell everything I own to buy a one-way ticket. I’m going to see him.”
“Man,” she breathed, “I can’t imagine what that’s like.”
You let out a small, hollow laugh. “I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.” “What seat are you?” “39-A.”
“Oh,” she smiled at you, just as the plane entrance was coming into view. “I’m 39-B! I’ll help you put your backpack up, okay?”
“Thank you,”
She smiled at you. “My pleasure.”
The hostess greeted you both when your new friend helped you board, watching with stunned eyes as you passed her. You both made your way to the back of the plane. You slipped off your backpack and she put both hers and your carry on into the compartment above you. “Do you want the window seat, or will that make you nauseous?” She asked, tilting her head to the side with an empathetic smile. “Would you be okay with switching? I’m supposed to have the window, but..”
“Yeah, I’m totally fine with it! Here, sit down with me.” Once you both were seated, she held your hand. “So, what’s your name?”
“It’s (Y/N),” you answer slowly, giving her a smile when you feel her hand take yours. It had been so long since someone had given you any physical affection. “I’m Nia,” she grinned. “It’s nice to meet you!”
“Nice to meet you, too.”
After the plane took off, Nia did everything she could for you. She made sure you had a blanket, water, and she even had wipes in her purse that she kept on your forehead to make sure your fever stayed down. Nia talked with you about her boyfriend, showing you part of her scar that was on the back of her neck. She told the story about the last time she was in Korea, lost and out of her depth. Wonseo, her soulmate, had bumped into her, not paying enough attention to avoid her when she stopped to try and read a street sign. She, in turn, had a scar on her back and on her scalp, while his, funnily enough, was on the top part of his chest and his nose.
When you told her about meeting Mark and your own scar, her happy grin only seemed to grow wider. “I’m a fan,” she admitted, “and I’m guessing you haven’t been keeping up with media because before he stopped his activities, he started wearing that Star Wars sweater everywhere. Everyone knew it was from you since the first time he ever had it with him was in Pearson two years ago. I knew I recognized you, but dang, girl. You look terrible compared to then.”
You smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, I tend to stay away from it all now, it just stresses me out.” She nodded understandingly. “Have you thought about the Gold Ceremony? Wonseo and I are actually in the process of planning ours, and I’m on my way home from meeting a bridesmaid that still lives in Canada.”
“I haven’t really thought about that yet,” you answer honestly. “It’s all so nerve-wracking, don’t you think?”
Nia shrugged. “I suppose your situation is a little different from everyone else’s, so I understand the aversion. I love the romance of it all, you know? Gold coating your scars so that everyone can see it as a sign of your commitment? Ah, it’s so exciting!”
“Maybe one day I’ll have the courage to ask him,” you say quietly, smiling at Nia.
“Only if you’re comfortable, girl. Having your entire chest exposed to everyone around you may be a little weird even if you are getting married, y’know?”
You chuckle. “Yeah, that’s true.”
You kept little conversations going, occasionally stopping to take small naps. The two of you also exchanged numbers, and you felt happy that you had made a new friend. Eventually, daylight began to peek through the windows of the plane, signalling the time change and that you would soon arrive in Korea.
Truthfully, no matter what Nia did for you, you only felt worse. You smiled and held back your nausea, but you could feel that as every moment passed, you declined further and further into your sickness. When the flight landed, you were happy that the sense of vertigo was gone, but you weren’t sure how long you would last without passing out. “Want me to help you through customs?” Nia asked once the seatbelt sign was turned off. She helped you stand, taking down your backpack for you and securing it on your shoulders. “I don’t want to be a burden on you,” you said quickly, grasping the seats as you made your way up to exit the plane.
“You’re far from that,” Nia reassured. “I won’t be able to stay with you the whole time, I just want to make sure that you make it to the people waiting for you okay. You said three of your friends were coming to meet you?” “Yeah,” you nod, thanking the hostess quietly as you pass her. “Thank you, Nia.” “Anything for a friend.” Slowly but surely, Nia helped you through the check-in and declaration stations, leading you through each step. Once you both got your passports checked, she turned and smiled at you. “I have to go get my suitcase now. Be safe and keep in touch, okay?” Nia hugged you ever so gently, before waving and taking her lead in the opposite direction you were to go, making her way to grab her suitcase off the conveyer.
“See you,” you called behind her, steeling your nerve. You could make it. While you could barely read the directions with your now blurring vision, you managed to make it to the meeting area. Just barely in your line of sight were Rhiannon, Donghyuck and Johnny, holding up a rainbow sign with your name on it. You felt your chest flare-up, and if it was due to your sickness or your happiness you couldn’t tell, but you still began making your way toward them, smiling and waving.
That was until your body finally gave in. ~ “(Y/N)!” Rhiannon immediately dropped the sign and made a beeline for you as you toppled to the ground, Johnny and Donghyuck not far behind. She grit her teeth, doing her best to turn you over and hold you.
Donghyuck reached into his pocket to pull out his phone, ready to call an emergency number if Rhiannon couldn’t determine that you were breathing. He sighed with relief, luckily the airport was mostly empty and nobody would crowd you. “Is she okay?” Johnny knelt down beside her, looking on with worry. Rhiannon quickly checked your pulse and held her hand above your mouth. “Seems like she just passed out, she’s still breathing.” She breathed a sigh of relief, placing a hand over her chest.
Johnny breathed a sigh of relief. “We should get her home, then. I’ll carry her, you grab her backpack.”
Rhiannon nodded and slowly took your backpack off while Johnny picked you up. “Let’s go.”
~
Everyone was waiting in the living room for Johnny and Rhiannon to return with you, after hearing them explain what happened when Taeyong called to check-in. They knew they couldn’t tell Mark about what happened since his condition was not much better. He was in his room, nearly unaware of everyone sitting and waiting with bated breath. Yuta and Jungwoo stood up quickly when the door handle turned and opened, revealing Rhiannon and Donghuck. Johnny followed in close behind, you in his arms, barely conscious.
“Hi, everyone,” you rasped, smiling as best you could, with lidded eyes.
“(Y/N),” Doyoung stood. “We’ve all missed you.”
“Yeah,” Jungwoo agreed. “We’re glad you’re home.”
“Thank you,” your words were soft, laboured. “Where’s Mark?” You looked up at Johnny tiredly. Johnny smiled gently, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “I’ll take you to him. Let’s go.”
You did your best to stay awake, suddenly beginning to feel a little better. Soon you both came across a door, the door slightly ajar. Johnny pushed it open gently with his foot.
“Guess who’s here?” He called into the room, and as soon as you lay eyes on Mark, you felt both simultaneously happy and guilty. Mark was skin and bones like you were, hollow cheeks and dark circles under his eyes. He was shivering as he struggled to sit up, large and thick blankets slowly shifting as he moved. “(Y/N),” he said, his lips forming the most endearing smile. “(Y/N), you’re here,”
“Yeah, I’m here.” Johnny carried you to Mark’s bed, gently placing you down next to him in the spot where he had just barely pulled back the blankets. You had your head laying on Mark’s chest as soon as Johnny put you down, Mark’s arm immediately wrapping around you. You both breathed in a deep sigh of relief, and you felt your nose beginning to clear up. “You could probably use some water. I’ll be back.” Johnny quietly left the room, and as soon as the door shut, you couldn’t think of anything to say.
You felt life coming back to you, but the long flight and the months of hardship still weighed heavy on you. You knew that this was your condition because you were struggling, and you had just sacrificed everything to be here. Now, on top of being sick, you were dirt poor. But, at least you were with your soulmate, and at least you were with all of your friends. At least you finally felt like you weren’t dying. “You can sleep,” you hear Mark whisper as he moved his other arm to touch your face. “I can tell you’re tired.”
You smiled weakly. “Okay, as long as you sleep too.” Mark laughed softly. “Agreed.”
Not long after, the door creaked open once again. Johnny had come back with a glass of water, followed by Rhiannon. Johnny placed the glass of water on the nightstand next to your bed, while Rhiannon watched you and Mark sleep for a moment, holding the small framed photo in her hands, the one that started it all. She placed it next to the glass of water, adjusting it so you would see it when you woke up.
“Sleep well.”

The Rest is History → Jeon Jungkook
Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Jungkook/Reader
↳  Word count: 1,679
↳ Notice: Italic sentences are spoken in English.
⁙  Summary: Jungkook comes up with a plan to get you back after your best friend comes to Korea for a vacation, stealing you away in the process.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jungkook stirred awake as bedsheets rustled and his arm suddenly was no longer draped over your side. He groaned, turning over and huddling into himself, wedging his hands between his knees. It wasn't until he heard the soft click of his bedroom door that he fully woke up, curiosity outweighing his fatigue.
His eyes fluttered open and a yawn escaped his mouth. "(Y/N)?" His voice was met with no answer, and through the darkness, he felt that your side of the bed was empty. He sat up, rubbing his eyes. Maybe you had just gone to the bathroom, but when he checked the time, he wasn't so sure. 3 AM.
Jungkook had realized more than once that you had gotten up at this exact time in the middle of the night; every single day for the past month. He had let it slide, never suspecting much because he trusted you. Today, however, he was determined to find out why this was always happening. He peeled the blanket from his body and stood up from bed, quietly making his way out of the bedroom.
Across from the bedroom door was the door to the computer room, where you and Jungkook had desktop elaborate setups and nerdy decorations sprawled about. You had a keyboard and Jungkook had his own mixing station as well, the room a safe place to think and compose. Jungkook smiled when he saw light coming from the bottom of the door, immediately knowing you had gone in there.
He approached the door and furrowed his eyebrows when he heard you giggle, a little lost on who would be discord calling you this late at night. Ever so gently, he turned the doorknob and pressed the door open, hoping that you wouldn't be startled. He almost didn't notice that he was holding his breath, trying to ignore the pang of jealousy and worry in his chest.
All of his tension was released into a sigh when he saw you, curled up in a star wars blanket and sitting cross-legged in your gaming chair, laughing quietly at a video feed of your best friend, who was cloaked in daylight. He smiled, leaning against the door frame and watching the two of you talk. He worried for nothing, but he still got to see how adorable the two of you were while you were interacting. He couldn’t catch all of the English you were speaking to the monitor, but he still found it all so endearing.
He had seen Rhiannon a few times but had never met her in person. You talked about her all the time, how she was sweet, funny, smart, and always there for you even when you had decided to move to Korea on a whim. You had told Jungkook once that Rhiannon was actually the one to convince you to follow your dream, and as a result, met and fell in love with him. Rhiannon was still attending college in Canada, having taken a longer course than you had. Jungkook's eyes widened and he began to blush wildly when he realized he was standing where the webcam could pick up his image and now Rhiannon was pointing at her screen, causing you to turn around and see him standing in the doorway.
"Hey baby," you say sweetly. "I'm sorry, did I wake you up?"
"Not really," Jungkook said quickly. "I was wondering why you were awake, though."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Here, let me leave the call." You turned around, facing your monitor. "Sorry, Rhi, but Kookie woke up. I should go back to bed. Talk soon,"
"So this is why you're always getting up at 3," Jungkook softly says as you hang up and shut down your computer, turning back around and standing. Quickly you move across the room to embrace your boyfriend, who immediately melts into the hug and sighs.
"Yeah," you say softly, "she gets home from work around now and... I miss her a lot. I'm sorry if I woke you up, I don't mean to."
"It's okay, baby," Jungkook runs his hands up and down your back. "Let's go back to bed. Do you think that maybe she can get some time off of work?"
You begin to follow him back to your bedroom, "What do you mean? I guess I can ask her, but why?"
"Well, I have a few extra bucks… maybe she can come for a visit. It's summer vacation for her college, right?" Jungkook smiled down at your shocked face.
"Y-yeah! Are you sure?"
"Anything for my baby and her best friend."
After weeks of planning, Rhiannon had gotten two weeks off of work and gotten the most obscure flight possible so that Jungkook could accompany you to the airport. You had even prepared a silly rainbow sign with her name on it to greet her when she got off the plane.
"There it is, that's the flight from Toronto!" You grabbed Jungkook's hand and began pulling him to the exit gate before he could react, excitedly jumping about as you walked. The two of you waited for a little while by the exit gate until the passengers began to file out from the check-in stations. Sign be damned because as soon as you saw Rhiannon's face in the small crowd, you dropped it and took off running.
Jungkook couldn't help but smile beneath his face mask as he stayed behind to avoid the crowd. Jungkook watched you essentially pounce onto your best friend, toppling both of you over into a giggling mess of hugs and noogies. That was how the rest of his day went, watching quietly as you and your best friend wreak chaos wherever you were; as you collected her luggage, walked through the airport, drove home and settled her into your guest room.
On the third day of Rhiannon's visit, you had spent so much time with her that Jungkook had actually begun to feel a little jealous. You had taken her into the heart of Seoul, to a mudflat and to an NCT concert all in the first few days she was here. Even though Jungkook knew you hadn’t seen each other in a long time, he still wanted you to himself for a little while. So, he devised a plan. The first step of that plan was eavesdropping.
Jungkook had been in the kitchen making a sandwich on the morning of the fourth day, yawning and feeling a little lazy when he heard the giggling. He was almost used to it at this point: girls will be girls. What he found interesting however was the faint mention of Yoongi. With a mischievous grin, Jungkook set down his sandwich and began making his way to the door of the guest room. He pressed his ear up against it, listening.
"This is another picture of Kookie and I while they were filming a bangtan bomb- and there's Yoongi in the back. I have no idea what kind of expression that is, but it's a goal of mine to find an excuse to use it as a reaction image one day." Jungkook smiled when he heard you speaking.
"Ah, you're so lucky you have so much time to spend with them!" Rhiannon responded. "You're just lucky in general."
"Hm, I suppose, but hey, once you graduate you'll be able to find a bomb job too, right?"
"Yeah," Rhiannon agreed softly. "Let's keep looking. What other Yoongi pictures do you have saved?"
Yoongi. Jungkook caught the name, even if it was in English, and he grinned mischievously. That was going to be his angle. Licking his lips, he stood up straight and rapped his knuckles on the door.
"You girls okay? I can make you a snack if you'd like before I head to dance practice," he called sweetly. "Unless… you wanna come with me." Jungkook already knew he had won when Rhiannon was the one to open the door a few seconds later, looking up at him with wide eyes.
"You'd really take us to dance practice?" She asked, her voice nearly reaching a squeal. You appeared behind her, searching Jungkook's expression.
"Yeah, why not?" Jungkook tilted his head toward the front door of the apartment. "Better choose quick cause I gotta leave in a few."
With that, Rhiannon was already bolting past him with a giddy smile on her face.
You took Jungkook's hand, smiling and pressing a kiss to his cheek. "What are you planning?"
"Nothing," Jungkook said with a laugh. "Nothing at all."
Jungkook wasn't one to outright call himself a genius, but he certainly felt like one. He introduced Rhiannon to everyone once you both had followed him up to their practice room, and before the music started you all shared a small snack. Yoongi already seemed taken with Rhiannon's polite yet giddy attitude, smiling brightly at her with a blush as soon as she began making conversation. It was almost too easy.
Jungkook danced with confidence, making sure to shoot plenty of confident smiles and winks your way, but blushing as soon as you crossed one leg over the other, raising one eyebrow at him.
When it was time for a break, you got up and passed Jungkook his bottle of water. "Those two are really hitting it off," you comment idly, latching onto your boyfriend in a hug.
"Yeah, they are," Jungkook agreed. "It's really cute,"
"Did you plan this, you little sneak?"
Jungkook nearly burst into laughter. "Maybe a little bit, but I wasn't expecting them to glue themselves to each other," he nods in their direction, your eyes following his gesture. "I just wanted you all to myself again."
Rhiannon and Yoongi were practically glued to each other, chatting away quietly. The ways they looked at one another reminded you of you and Jungkook when you first met.
"Seeing that look from the outside is really endearing," you comment, pressing your ear against Jungkook's chest, listening to his heartbeat. "If they start being like that so quickly,"
Jungkook grinned triumphantly, "the rest will be history."
⁙ Summary: For an end of the year photography project, you’re tasked with taking a photograph for your favourite group, NCT127, and coincidentally, discover your soulmate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WEDNESDAY - 8 TWO YEARS LATER
The heart of Toronto would never compare to the magnificence of Times Square in New York, but the mass amount of billboards by the Eaton Center always managed to send you into awe during your nightly trek home from work.
You looked up toward the billboards with a sigh as you waited for your streetcar, barely managing to squeeze out a smile as you saw Mark’s visage splayed along one of the electronic spaces. The night sky was too polluted with the city’s light to display any real stars, but Mark’s face was more than enough for you. For the past week, you had seen NCT127’s faces sprawled across that billboard, part of promotions for their latest global comeback. It was a brief respite as you waited for your streetcar home every night, to finally know that the day was over and that you could relax.
It had been such a long time since you’ve seen Mark in person. Even though you texted him every day when the two of you were awake at the same time and video chatted whenever he had five minutes to himself, it always felt depressing to be without him. To not kiss or touch or hug at all was torture.
Everyone knew that it was deadly for soulmates to be apart for so long, that depression would set in and even worse physical illnesses were a real risk. It was hard to be so far away and over the past year you had been let go from multiple jobs because you were constantly sick, and therein lies the problem. You simply couldn’t afford the solution to your problem. So, depression and illness it was. It took everything you had to keep your head above water, to keep your dream alive and know that one day your heart wouldn’t ache as much as it does at the present moment.
After a 20 minute ride on the streetcar, you entered your building and took the stairs up to your little hole-in-the-wall apartment, the bare minimum that you could afford after Rhiannon paid her last half of the old place’s rent. A single bed, bath and a tiny kitchen that housed a little chair and round table. Thankfully, there was enough counter space that you could place a tiny TV to watch Netflix on while you ate. You were lucky that the house had a large living room, which doubled as your studio.
The coffee table was one of the only things left from your old apartment, along with the tote of Marvel films you kept hidden below it. Atop the table now rested all of your cameras, a drawing tablet and cards that you got in the mail from Mark from time-to-time, instead of notes, binders and textbooks. Sitting against the wall across from the table was a small bookshelf and an easel with a large frame sitting on it, housing the last portrait you finished the night before, ready to be shipped to the buyer.
After… somewhat enjoying a quick pot of white cheddar mac & cheese and watching a rerun of Supernatural on your little TV, you head into your room and sit at the desk next to your bed. After starting your computer, you opened up discord and sat back in your wheely chair, waiting for Rhiannon’s status to change to green. Wednesday was the day that she had to be up early for her job, so that meant time for a 10-minute call before you went to bed and she went to work.
Next to your computer was a copy of the photo you took two years ago, of your soulmate and all his friends beneath the shedding cherry trees in High Park. You smiled at it, the memory was fond but now faint in your mind. You reached forward to pick it up, but you stopped yourself. You knew that if you inspected the photo more, you’d only miss Mark and all your friends more.
There were times where your apartment became so quiet that it reminded you how alone you really were. You had lived with Rhiannon most of your life, and that meant there was at least some noise going on at all times. Whether she had her headset unplugged when she was listening to music or watching youtube videos, she was clattering about when helping you wash and dry the dishes, or if she was walking around and tripped on nothing. She was always talking, laughing, or doing something that always let you know that she was there. Now, you had nothing.
The silence is broken and you’re startled by the calling sound from discord, Rhiannon’s icon popping up on the top of your screen. You place your hand on your mouse and click the join call button, adjusting the webcam perched on the top of your desktop monitor.
"Hey," Rhiannon was the first to speak, yawning and reaching back to pull her hair into a perfect, tight ponytail.
"Hey," you respond, watching her closely and leaning your chin on your right palm. "How are you holding up?"
"I should be asking you that, Jesus, you look like the Hulk if he got the swine flu," she retorts, and even through the grainy quality you can tell she has sympathy written all over her face. "I'm doing great, we've got two cleanings today and a wisdom teeth removal, so that'll be fun."
You scoff and attempt to smile, "I'm fiiiiine, other than the fact that I'm here and you're there, 13 hours in the future and at least one ocean in between us and an entire continent and a half. I'd say that constitutes abandonment."
"I got the getting while it was good and you know that," she stuck her tongue out at you. "You need to keep saving so that you can fly your ass out here." She squinted at the screen. "You really need to drink like… an entire bottle of nyquil, dude."
"If only it were that easy," you groan. "I don't even have a photographer's position yet. All I get is sitting at a desk and responding to emails… even with my head start, I can't find a good job and I barely make enough to keep living in Toronto." You stick out your tongue back at her for the nyquil comment. "As if I haven't been hiding a bottle of dayquil in my desk for the past week."
Rhiannon stopped what she was doing and leaned toward her camera. "You know why you can't get the jobs you want," her voice is soft, empathetic. "Mark is having trouble, too. He's been doing a lot of half days, so I don't know how they plan to do their tour with him being constantly sick."
You looked away. "I can't afford to take any more time off… I don't want to lose this job. If I do, I'm not sure that I'll be able to make my rent."
"You're going to need to take time eventually,” Rhiannon stated firmly. "If you don't get at least some of your strength back you're going to end up in the hospital like I did. Remember?"
You glanced back at your screen, watching Donghyuck wander around in the backdrop. You were beyond jealous that they got to live together.
"Maybe. I just miss you. More than I miss having a clear passageway in my nose."
Rhiannon smiled sadly at you. "I miss you too, everyone does. You'll be here soon, I promise. I gotta go, sleep well and drink plenty of water, okay?"
"Okay."
Rhiannon waved at you before her screen went dark, ending the call. The call was shorter than usual, so you presumed that she had woken up late. You zoned out a little, acutely aware that the apartment had gone silent again. You didn't want to cry, to give up after surviving for so long. You had made it this far without letting everything get to you.
You knew that your deteriorating health was because of your separation from Mark and companies saw that as a liability, even though laws had come into place last year to protect separated soulmates from workplace discrimination. You felt a tiny ping of hope when Rhiannon said you would be able to move soon, but you knew she was lying to make you feel better.
Feeling lethargic, you stand and make your way to the dresser in the corner of your room, stripping and throwing your clothes about the room. You open up a drawer and pull out a pair of sweatpants and the softest t-shirt you could find and slipped them on, wandering to your bed and slowly climbing in. You slipped off your glasses, placing them on your desk and reached forward to turn off your lamp.
You hugged your polar bear and tried to get comfortable, hoping to fall asleep quickly. You supposed you could call into work when you woke up; at least your manager was nice enough to understand when you needed a day off. You rolled over, tossed and turned, but sleep wouldn't come. Not while your phone was constantly buzzing.
"What the hell," you mumble to yourself, untangling yourself from the knot of blankets you had tied yourself in to reach for your phone. Your lock screen lit up with a photo of Mark, one you had taken two years ago of him standing in Union Station.
[Rhiannon (5)]
She sure knew how to type quickly.
Rhiannon: I'm on my way to work, I'll let you know when I'm there
Rhiannon: sorry our call was so short, I was running a little late
Rhiannon: I talked to Mark last night, did he say anything?
Rhiannon: are you asleep already? It's been like 5 minutes
Rhiannon: ok you're basically just ignoring me at this point
You: calm down bro I was getting in my pyjamas
Rhiannon: I forgot how slow you get when you're sick, I could die of boredom waiting for you to respond
You: hardy har
Rhiannon: so have you talked to mark today?
You: around lunchtime he woke up from a nightmare but I assume hes busy right now
Rhiannon: Things have been pretty bad around now, I think you might have guessed that
You: Yeah, things aren’t really that great here either, but I’m more worried about Mark… have they given him time off?
Rhiannon: Not much besides half days. He’s really been missing you. Maybe you should message him and see if he’s not busy
You: Yeah, maybe. I feel really guilty
Rhiannon: I know. I still could help you buy your plane ticket, you know. You: You know I can’t do that, I can’t take more from you than I have already. I owe you too much.
No response.
You: Rhiannon I’m sorry
You: Come on, you can’t have scrubbed in that fast!
You sighed, staring at your screen and still seeing no response from your best friend. You took a deep breath in and immediately regretted it when you began coughing up a lung, but at least you weren't upchucking your dinner. Instead, you decided to send a text to Mark.
You: mark, you there?
You close your mind for a moment, thinking that maybe going to bed even later than usual would just make you more sick in the end, but you really needed to know what was going on.
Mark: yeah I'm here babe, what's wrong, can't sleep?
You: no not really… do you have time to talk for a bit?
Mark: yeah, my legs gave out during our first practice so I'm taking a break
You: I'm sorry
Mark: it's not your fault (Y/N)
You: it kind of is, we're both dying because I can't afford to move
Mark: (Y/N), we're not dying, and it's okay, you'll be able to move soon
You: face it you know that we are… I haven't felt this horrible in a long time and I've thrown up three times today
Mark didn't respond right away.
Mark: why are you putting yourself down so much
You: I just… have a lot of regrets right now
Mark: what do you mean
You licked your lips and rolled over in bed, wondering if you should tell him.
Mark: are you okay?
You: no, I feel like this would make you hate me
Mark: I could never hate you and you know that. Tell me what's been bothering you.
You: For the past while… Rhiannon’s been offering me money. It’s honestly not much because everyone’s struggling nowadays, but it would be enough for me to fly to Korea, and I’ve felt so guilty about it that I kept saying no and she stopped offering
Mark: You mean that you could have been here faster? You: and now I feel that saying no was a really bad idea… and I.. I can’t afford anything, barely even food and now I hear that you’re even more sick than I am and I feel terrible
You: I don’t know what to do
Mark: It’s okay, (Y/N), really. I know how hard it is to take money from someone else, I’m not mad at you
You: Really?
Mark: I’m just disappointed that I have to keep waiting. You’ll be able to move soon, I promise, I promise, I promise
You: Are you going to be okay
Mark: As long as you are. Take care of yourself, okay? I’ll be there for you the second you land. Okay?
You: Okay. I… I should probably get some sleep now. Mark: Rest well, I love you
You: I love you too
You sighed, placing your phone on your desk and turning over in your bed. It was time.

Heels → Wong Yukhei
Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Lucas/Yukhei x Reader
↳  Word count: 790
⁙  Summary: Yukhei liked that you were short, but you were almost always buying heels large enough that you were the same height, if not taller than he was.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yukhei stood beside you with a subtle pout as you sat down in your favourite shoe store, pulling on another pair of sizable heels. You grin with satisfaction as you tighten the strap that wound around your ankle, happy that the fourth pair you've tried finally fit your feet.
You wobbled a little as you stood, holding your arms out to gain proper balance. Yukhei watched you, a tiny smile breaking through when you, in turn, grinned at him. Yukhei was good at hiding his disappointment, and he was thankful for that since you were now at eye-level with him. You quickly brought your hands up to measure the differences between your heights, grinning in triumph when you confirmed it had been the closest you had gotten so far today.
"I like these ones," you say as you inch closer to your naturally giant boyfriend, who sticks his tongue out at you playfully, stroking his knuckles on your hips gently. "I think I'm going to get them."
"They make you really tall," Yukhei points out once you move to sit down again, switching the summer heels out for your regular shoes, platform sneakers.
"That's the point, silly." You grin up at him from your spot, gathering up the shoebox and once again standing to meet his eye line. "I like it when I'm as tall as you are, I feel so powerful."
"I bet," he adds softly, taking your hand gently as you both make the short trek to the front of the shoe store. Yukhei again pouts once your attention isn't on him and instead are happily pulling out your wallet to pay for the thousandth pair of, what Yukhei would consider hilariously high heels.
Yukhei, in truth, loved that you were short. He could wrap his arms around you and put his chin on your head, you could use his shoulder perfectly as a pillow when you sat next to each other, he could bend down to kiss you, and you were at the perfect height where he could drape his arm across your shoulders and hold you close. But not when you were wearing heels. He has thought multiple times about hiding your collection so you couldn't wear them the next time you both went out, but that would only mean you would buy more on said outing.
So, once he realised he couldn't shake your habit, Yukhei's favourite part of the day was when you both were at home, a place where you couldn't justify wearing those crazy shoes you loved to wear. So, he has a little bit of trouble hiding his excitement when you walk in the door to your shared apartment and start to undo the laces to your platforms.
You had pulled off your shoes quickly and entered the house while Yukhei was still sliding off his own. He watched you with a smile, it was endearing to see you swinging your hips to a song that must have worked its way into your head. As soon as he could, he followed you and immediately took you into his arms, hugging you tightly from behind.
"Yukhei!" You exclaimed with surprise, giggling with bashfulness as he pressed kisses to the top of your head. "What brought this on?"
"Nothing," he answered, gently rocking you both from side to side. "I just like it when you're short."
"Is that so?" You turned around in his hold, pressing your ear against his chest. "I suppose you're not a fan of my fashion sense, then~" you tease, grinning when you hear his heartbeat grow faster.
"Well, you always look great but I love it when you're just really small and you fit into all the right places and-"
"Yukhei, it's alright, I'm just teasing," you hug him back tightly, humming. "You're so cute."
"So are you, no matter how tall you are," he hummed, relishing the feeling of a perfect hug; where you fit into his embrace just right. He could stand here forever, hugging you and taking in the scent of green apple shampoo you like to use.
"You're silly," your voice had lowered to a whisper, eyes closed and enjoying the sound of Yukhei's heartbeat.
Yukhei wasn't sure how long he had been standing there in comfortable silence with you, but he didn't mind; not until a thought popped up in his head."I wanna cuddle."
You squeezed him a little tighter for but a second, looking up at him with a content smile. "Okay, you big teddy bear. Let's go."
Once Yukhei took your hand, he began leading you to your bedroom, grinning with satisfaction once he remembered the best part of the height difference between you: you were the perfect little spoon.
⁙ Summary: For an end of the year photography project, you’re tasked with taking a photograph for your favourite group, NCT127, and coincidentally, discover your soulmate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SATURDAY - 7
You awaken to a streak of morning glow shining into your bedroom through your window, the curtains slightly parted. You feel warm and comfortable, your polar bear plushie tucked neatly in your grip. When you manage to gain some semblance of morning vision, you notice that Mark wasn't with you. Before you can jump to conclusions, though, the smell of eggs and bacon wafts into your nose.
Standing and grabbing your glasses from your desk to put them on, you yawn and make your way out of your room, following the smell of breakfast.
"Here, make sure you crack it so there aren't any eggshells. The most important part is that you make sure the water is bubbling, but not boiling all the way. Then we carefully slip the egg into the water from the bowl."
Your feet idly carry you down the hallway from your room, and your eyes follow the sound of conversation and a fork scraping a plate. You meet eyes with Donghyuck, who is sitting in your makeshift dining room, freezing just as he takes a bite of scrambled eggs, his eyes wide and staring straight at you. Without a word between either of you, he chews and swallows, getting up and quickly shuffling into the kitchen.
Furrowing your eyebrows and licking your lips, you approach the arch of the kitchen and peer inside. Rhiannon is standing next to Mark, who is dipping a slotted spoon into a pot of steaming water. There's a breakfast in bed tray next to them on the kitchen counter, already topped with toast and bacon on a plate accompanied by a glass of milk.
Donghyuck comes back into your view, leaning toward Rhiannon and whispering in her ear. Her head snaps to look in your direction, elbowing Mark in the side. He nearly drops what looks like a perfectly poached egg, but still successfully manages to put it on the plate.
Mark, too, looks over at you.
"You couldn't sleep for like, five more minutes," Rhiannon is the first to speak, her words causing your cheeks to heat up. She quickly places a metal cover over the plate, shoving Mark in your direction.
Mark stumbles for a moment but quickly approaches you, taking your hands in his. He sheepishly smiles at you, leaning forward to kiss your cheek. "Go," he starts, kissing your other cheek, "back," kiss "to bed," kiss. "I wanted this to be a surprise." He's gently leading you to step backwards, down the hall and all the way back into your bed. He smooths the covers over your legs, kisses your forehead and then dashes from the room.
Your mouth hangs open with genuine surprise, your eyes glued to your bedroom door. It's not long until Mark appears again, carefully carrying the little table into the room with him.
"You really didn't have to do this for me," you remark as he gently places the table over your lap. "I should be the one cooking for you."
"You will have a million chances to cook for me in time," he said, nudging the table closer to you and lifting off the little metal cover that hid your plate. The bacon was crispy, one poached egg was on top of a piece of toast and the second piece had strawberry jam spread to the edges, just the way you like it.
"Thank you, Mark, this is too sweet, I feel bad," you laugh softly as you pick up the toast with jam to take a bite.
"Don't feel bad, I had fun cooking these, (Y/N). One second, though." Again he dashes from the room and comes back with his own plate with toast, bacon and scrambled eggs. You scooch over enough so he can fully join you again in bed, and you both share a quiet breakfast.
You begin to notice an aura in the air as you look at Mark. He seems cheerful, poking away at his meal and occasionally looking back at you, cheeks full of food and his lips decorated with crumbs from his toast. Today was the last day you would see him in person for who knows how long. You would have to let all this go- all the time you spent with him, his cheerful expressions and his touch.
You quickly peeled your eyes away from him, poking your egg with your fork and watching the yolk spill down the edge of your toast. You didn't want this week to end.
"Your exams start next week, right?" Mark's voice is soft as if he knows exactly what you're thinking about.
"Yeah," you reply, "then I have to wait for my graduation form, and then I can go to the ceremony, hopefully."
"I feel like I might have taken away any time you would have had to study," he comments dejectedly, and it makes you look at him again.
"No," you retaliate quickly, taking in a deep breath, "I've never really needed to cram like people do in the movies- I study subjects as I go. I could technically do all my exams today and be confident. Please don't feel bad, I already do."
"Ever since I met you I've been dreading today," Mark says, placing his fork and knife down on the empty plate sitting on his lap. "The day I had to leave."
You licked your lips, taking a long blink. His tone of voice made your stomach flip and your chest hurt like you were being stabbed. "Me too. I, uh, was thinking… I wanted to go to the airport with you."
Mark's eyes widened. "Really? I mean, I'm happy, but aren't you worried about all the fans and the media?"
"Yes," you nod, "but they're all going to find out eventually. I just want to spend as much time with you as I can."
"I do too," he agrees, finally wiping his mouth. "I just don't want to pull you into a world you might not be ready for."
Slowly you nodded, looking back at your nearly finished breakfast. You finish off your egg in silence, scraping up the last of the yolk with the final corner of toast. "You're a good cook," you say, a small smile tugging at your lips.
Mark laughed sheepishly, standing up. "Only because I had help. Can I take that?"
"Y-yeah. I'll get dressed. Thank you."
Mark loomed over you for a moment, gently placing his plate on top of yours and lifting the tray off your lap. "Okay. We'll leave when you're ready." With that, he was gone.
You were glad you hadn't decided to wake up early and put on makeup because if you did it would have been ruined almost as quickly as Mark left your sight. It wasn't that your mind was racing with thoughts, with what-ifs. No, it was just the idea that your life changed so quickly in one week - and now you had to go back to your normal life like nothing had happened at all.
You would be able to see him again sometime in the future, you knew this, but when he left the room, pain hit you like a wave, knowing that when he went to customs at the airport, it would really be the last time you saw him - indefinitely, until something brought you back together. So you cried, hoping to get all of it out now.
Finally dressed and looking like you had banished evidence of your tears off your face, you grabbed your backpack and looked inside. Two items were neatly secured in a cloth tote bag lined with green tissue paper - the photo frame that was neatly wrapped in bubble wrap and your most prized piece of clothing. It was the Star Wars: The Last Jedi sweater you bought on your trip to Florida with Rhiannon in the year previous, nearly three sizes too large. Smiling sadly, you ran your thumb over the fabric, then closed your backpack and secured it over your shoulders.
When you exited your room, everyone was waiting for you in the front hall. The day wasn't a happy one despite the sun bursting through the patio door, especially judging from the aura of melancholy that hit you as soon as everyone laid eyes on you.
"Ready to go?" Rhiannon was always the bravest to speak first, gently taking Donghyuck's hand. You in turn gently took Mark's hand, squeezing it ever so slightly.
"Yeah. I'm ready."
The further you went, from the dorm to the subway and from the subway to the streetcar, you felt increasingly sad. You knew that everyone was feeling the same way as you since the entire way had been completely silent. You and Rhiannon already knew the way, so the boys just followed your lead, sitting and exchanging sad smiles when any of you made eye contact.
Next stop. Next stop. Next stop. Change here for line two. Next stop. Change here for streetcar.
Once you arrive at the airport, their manager meets you. He eyes you and Rhiannon sternly until Mark speaks up, and once he is finished the manager reluctantly nods and leads you to the first-class lounge. The lounge is nearly completely empty, except for where the rest of the group is, surrounded by luggage.
There is little exchange of words when Mark and Donghyuck both take their luggage from the others. All of you gather around a flight board, watching for the Vancouver gate. You hear distant conversations, your mind almost blanking out. You took Mark's hand, causing him to look back at you with a sombre smile.
"It's not forever, you know," was the first thing Mark said to you since leaving the house. You can barely make eye contact with him, nodding and leaning into his side.
"I know, but it feels like it." You lifted your arm, looking at the scars that decorated both yours and Mark's bodies. "When I graduate I'll visit."
Mark's smile became more genuine, looking down at you with a sparkle in his eyes. "You won't just be visiting, you'll be moving."
Your eyes widened for a moment, and then you also begin to smile. "I hope so." You both settle into a mutual gaze, one that isn't exactly awkward, but it's not happy either. "Mark," you say again, after waiting far too long.
He raised his eyebrows at you, nodding questioningly. "What is it?"
You take in a deep breath, taking off your backpack and opening it up to pass Mark the tote. "As commissioned." You held it up to him, and his curious expression changed back to a genuine smile.
"Thank you," his voice was barely above a whisper, taking the tote from you and peering inside of it. "What else is here?" It sounded like he was asking that to himself as he pulled out your sweater.
"It will remind you of me," you add quietly, "and it will probably fit you better than it fits me."
"(Y/N), I can't-"
"Please?" Mark looked you in the eye as you muttered that one word, noticing that tears you had long thought you had been rid of were beginning to surface.
Mark quickly tied the sweater around his waist and gently set the tote with the photo frame to the side so Johnny could pick it up, quickly engulfing you in another hug. "Okay," he whispered, letting you dig your forehead into the crook of his neck. "Thank you."
Not long after, a small chime rang through the lounge as the next lineup of gates appeared on the large screen everyone was lurking around. It was time for the boys to head for their gate. You were reluctant to leave the tight hug Mark nearly trapped you in, and you could feel that his breathing was beginning to stutter like he was crying.
"Come on," you heard Jaehyun from beyond the grip of your soulmate, "we can't miss our flight."
You gripped your fingers into the fabric of Mark's shirt, but you knew you had to let go. As soon as you separated, Mark reached for your hand, wiping his face.
Mark and Donghyuck insisted that you and Rhiannon were allowed to walk with them until they went through security, so you decided to go with them. Your heart thumped in your chest when you remembered that fans would be waiting for them. Mark squeezed your hand gently once you tensed, hearing the sounds of camera clicks getting closer and closer. Soon enough you were bombarded by flashing cameras and stunned fans who were staring at you with varying degrees of surprise and confusion.
Mark waved toward the small crowd with his free hand, leading you past them with an experienced fervour. Once you arrive at the end of the line, still inwardly panicking, Mark turned to you, taking your other hand in his.
"I'm going to miss you," he said, smiling shyly. "Send me lots of pictures from your graduation, okay?"
"Of course," your mind was nearly taken off the crowd until Mark kissed you. Nothing like you haven't done before- sweet and loving- just like you had come to adore and sometimes crave. Only this time, so many other people were watching you. Once you separated your lips you caught him in a hug. "I love you,"
"I love you too, (Y/N)."
You took in a deep breath, standing next to Rhiannon and taking her hand as everyone began to put up their luggage and go through customs. You waved back at them, putting on the best smile you could, trying to keep from looking at the multitude of photographers behind the black ribbon barricade.
Once they were out of sight, everyone had their cameras trained on you and Rhiannon. Taking her hand, the two of you pushed back through the growing crowd and ran as fast as you could to a place where you both could lay low until the fan sites lost interest.
Once you got home, you dreaded going onto the internet, knowing you would see yourself, red-faced and melancholy, basically attached to Mark at the hip. So, you shut yourself in your room.
~
"Are you studying?"
Night had fallen when you woke up from your impromptu depression nap, so you had rubbed the sleep from your eyes and headed to Rhiannon's room. She looked back at you from her desk, the light from her laptop the only source of illumination in the house.
"Kinda," she sighed. She rolled her computer chair to face you, crossing one leg over the other. "I've been mostly pretending to worry about my studies and instead checking my phone every five seconds for a text."
"They're probably busy," you mumble, inviting yourself into her room and sitting on her bed. "I miss them."
"I do too. All we need to do is save up enough to move, I guess," Rhiannon said, turning back around and opening one of her textbooks.
"If only it were that easy."
She scoffed when she heard you. "Yeah, if only."
You licked your lips, laying down on top of the sheets of Rhiannon's bed, taking her stuffed turtle into your arms. "Have you been on the internet today?"
You could hear her chair moving again, her mouse clicking and her keyboard following after. "Yeah," she answered with a sigh. "It's not all bad, thank God, but people are really trying to speculate who we are."
You groan into the fabric of the turtle. "I really hope people don't feel like they have to, like, deduce who we are and start following us around."
Rhiannon didn't answer. After a minute, you put the plushie to the side and sit up, looking at her silhouette framed by the light of her computer.
"You okay?"
She perked up, shrugging. "I guess. I suppose that it's all, y'know… sinking in. This week I've just been thinking about Donghyuck and I, but now the rest of the world is going to be involved, too. Even if we have the scars to prove it, some fans will never let them go."
You looked down. "Yeah, you're right. I guess that maybe we shouldn't have gone. I just didn't want to say goodbye."
"Me neither." Rhiannon sighed audibly, and then the gentle tapping of keys on her keyboard became the primary noise in the room. You stayed sprawled out on her bed, not fond of the idea of being alone.
"Can I sleep in your bed tonight?" As soon as you finished your question, the typing stopped. The deadly quiet made your heart thump in your chest, worried that she would say no.
"Yeah. I don't want to sleep by myself either."
Sighing with relief, you smile. "Are you going to keep studying?"
Rhiannon hummed. "For another while yet. You can sleep if you're tired, I'll keep it down."
"Okay." You quickly made a trip to your room to grab your polar bear and your phone, and then you did your best to snuggle in the sheets of Rhiannon's bed, claiming the left side as your own. You placed your phone right by your pillow, too afraid to unlock it and see your face on Soompi, Allkpop, Koreaboo and worst of all, Twitter.
You stayed awake and listened to the sounds of Rhiannon's studying, slowly dozing more and more. Once you were on the cusp of sleep, your phone buzzed. Then it buzzed again. You groaned, turning over to grab it. Running your fingers along your pop socket, you wondered if you should even look at what the notification was. That was when your screen lit up again with another faint buzz, revealing Mark's contact photo and a line of sparkling heart emojis.
You found yourself donning a tired smile as you unlock your phone to read Mark's texts.
Mark: I'm not sure if you're still awake but I thought you might want to know that I'm safe and we are all settled in Vancouver
Mark: my mom said that you are very pretty
I miss you
Mark: aaaaaa you probably really are asleep please sleep well, study hard, I love you 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
You: I love you too Mark, rest well, I miss you too
Before temptation could get the better of you, you locked your phone and quickly shoved it beneath your pillow, holding your polar bear tightly. You did your best to focus on Rhiannon's typing once more to lull you back to sleep, wishing with all of your might that the next couple of years would pass you by while you slept.

All Over Again → Kim Seokjin
Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Jin/Reader
↳  Word count: 2,203
⁙  Summary: Seokjin has always been in love with you, even if at an early age you had been stricken with memory degradation and memory loss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn’t your fault. It was the way you were born, the way you had been destined to be. More than forgetful, more than scrambling around your house wondering where you had left your phone charger. It was forgetting things that just happened. It was forgetting about your friends, the things you loved and the things you wanted to do.
Your memory hadn’t always been like this. You had friends, you had a family, you had hobbies, likes and dislikes, favourite foods and favourite books, but over time things began to fall further and further from your brain. Eventually, a number of things you could remember were how to walk, eat, speak, read, and write.
One thing you always knew was that, no matter what, you seemed to make the people around you sad. You never understood why- you hardly knew anyone. People who came to visit you always had frowned when you asked their names and tears welled up in their eyes when you didn’t know the answers to any of their questions. It was so confusing. Why was everyone so… gloomy?
~
“Seokjin, I know how much you care about her, but… she doesn’t remember you,” your mother commented sadly to the boy standing outside your room with a bouquet of flowers. “She hardly even remembers us now. Her memory is too degraded.”
Seokjin, the boy who had loved you since preschool only smiled warmly in her direction. “That’s okay,” he replied. “I’d like to talk to her anyway if that’s alright.”
“Honey, be my guest, I think she would enjoy some company other than me.”
You turned your head away from your colouring book as the door handle to your room turned and clicked, the door soon opening. The light from the large window cast a bright and nearly blinding light into the nearly completely white room you were in, causing your visitor to squint as he walked in. You watched this new person enter with curiosity, enjoying the blast of colour that followed him in that took the shape of multicoloured flowers.
“Hi there,” he greeted, smiling over at you. “Mind if I sit?”
“Hi,” you say in return, shoving your book and pencil crayons off to one side. “You can sit down if you want. My name’s (Y/N).”
The boy took the padded seat next to your bed, gently placing down the flowers in your lap. “I know.”
“How?” You wonder aloud. “We’ve never met before.”
The boy smiled at you, and you saw something in his eyes that you had somehow seen before, but you couldn’t exactly place where you had. His plump lips were curved upwards in the most… how could you say… calming way, his fingers leaving the bouquet wrappings to the sheets of your bed, running a finger along the fabric. You blushed by only watching his movements.
“I’ve known you for a long time, actually. My name is Seokjin, but you used to call me Jinny. You’ve always been the only one allowed to call me that.”
“Oh.” You looked down at the flowers, smiling at them. “I like these, thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I knew you would like them, they’ve always been your favourite,” he said, his fingers moving back to the flowers, taking one of the yellow petals in between his thumb and forefinger.
“What are they?”
“They’re roses, painted in all the colours you like. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple,” Jin explains, and you look back at him with a smile.
“I love every colour,” you say proudly, sitting up a bit straighter.
“I know you do.” Jin’s smile faltered slightly. Tilting your head in curiosity, you watched him look down at his wrist, gently pull back his sleeve and look at a watch. The way he delicately did such a simple thing made your heart beat a little faster.
“What’s wrong?” You ask.
“Nothing, don’t worry. Say, what were you drawing?” He asked.
“I was drawing?” You wonder, looking to your left to find you book sitting next to you. “Oh.” You reach out to grab the book, flipping through to see your most recent drawing. “I guess I was drawing this.”
Your eyes widen as you look at the page. You never knew that you drew it, and the person whose face you drew looked familiar. You squinted at the page before holding it upright beside Jin’s face. You looked from him to the drawing, noticing that they looked nearly identical. An oval sculpted face, heart-shaped lips, thin, square eyes, round nose and tousled brown hair.
“Hey, (Y/N), are you okay?” Jin gently grasped the paper and flipped it over when you fully handed it over to him. However, his reaction to seeing what was on the page wasn’t what you expected. Instead of wide, stunned eyes, he just smiled, looking over your face again. “See? You’ve been drawing me. You’ve known me for a long, long time.”
“But how? I don’t remember you.” You say dejectedly. “I-I’m sorry.” For some reason, pain struck your heart. You wanted to remember him, you really did. You felt like there was something there, a feeling like you did really know him, enough to feel the twinge of nervousness and shyness in your chest, to know what it meant despite what was wrong with you. But, no matter how hard you tried, nothing came to your head, and nothing happened.
Jin placed down your book on your bed and raised his hands, noticing that tears were welling up in your eyes. “No, I didn’t mean to make you upset,” he cried. “I just want you to know.”
You sniffle. “Know what?”
“I want you to know that I love you,” he stated, leaning forward in his chair to rest his arms on your bed, placing his cheek against the sheets. “I love you so much, even if you forget about me every time I leave the room.”
Did he love you? Did he get the same feelings in his chest as you do as you’re looking at him right now? Does he find himself drawing you? Does he forget about you, too?
“Jinny,” you say, feeling a bit more at ease when you say his name that way, “I.. I, um…”
“Hmm?” He hummed, waiting patiently for the end of your sentence with a smile.
“I love you too,” you agree with very little thought involved. You know what this was, a deep-seated feeling that even you couldn’t forget. It was love. “Please…”
“What is it? Do you want some ice chips?” He sits up, ready to stand, and you only smile and shake your head, grasping his wrist for good measure.
“Please, don’t go… not ever. I don’t want to forget you.” Tears were now spilling over the rims of your eyes. You knew that if he left the room you would have to meet him all over again. You had done it so many times with your mother until her constant presence finally solidified her in your mind, but it seemed like Jin hadn’t made that kind of progress.
“You won’t forget about me,” he told you, reaching up to swipe a thumb at a stray tear. “You draw my face in your books and you remember my nickname even if I only mention it once. Once you love someone, you never really forget them. Alright?”
“Okay,” you agree, leaning into his touch, his hand now cupping your cheek gently. “Will you stay a little longer, though?”
“Of course I can.”
~ 4 hours later ~
You smiled at your newest masterpiece and placed down your charcoal pencil, holding up your sketchbook and admiring your handiwork.
“(Y/N), don’t you think it’s time you eat your dinner?” Your mother asked as she sat against the wall, returning Jin’s shrug as he could finally move from his pose. She gripped your dinner tray in her hands, it slowly growing cold from the passage of time.
“I only just finished,” you whine. “Can I eat after I put the seal on it?”
“(Y/N),” your mother called scoldingly. “Your charcoal won’t smudge if you leave it for a few minutes, now eat up.”
“You should probably listen to your mom, (Y/N),” Jin chimed as he stood up to stretch. “She can get pretty scary.”
You looked over at your mother, who was looking at Jin with a knowing smirk, but, she said nothing.
“But eating my dinner means that visiting hours are over and you have to go home, right?” You ask innocently.
“Yes, that’s right,” Jin replied cautiously.
“Then I’m never going to eat my dinner!” You declare, placing your sketchbook on the small table beside your bed, promptly crossing your arms and pouting in your mother’s direction.
“(Y/N), come on, Jin can visit tomorrow.”
“But…”
“No buts.”
“Alright, fine.” You sigh dejectedly, nodding in the direction of your mother.
Your mother stands, satisfied at your compliance. She placed the tray on your lap as you sadly watched Jin stand.
He looks down at you with his soft smile, “I’ll come back tomorrow, okay?”
“You promise?”
“Of course, I promise,” he reassures you by nodding and crossing his heart. “Cross my heart and hope to die.” He begins to turn around, but you grab his wrist. “What is it?”
“One more thing.” You tug on his arm gently, and his smile grows wider as he figures out what you want. Before you know it, he’s bent down in front of you and placed a sweet kiss on your lips.
“I love you, (Y/N).”
“I love you, too, Jinny.”
~
Jin sighed as he exited the room, closing the door gently behind him. He knew as he walked down the hallway of the hospital that you’ve already forgotten about him, but he couldn’t bring himself to be depressed or sad about it.
He pulled out his phone to text his friends that he was coming home, a smile still present on his lips.
GROUP CHAT
NJ: Hey, Jin, visiting hours ended like half an hour ago. Are you coming home?
TH: Yeah, we need you to make dinner.
SJ: You guys really need to learn how to cook for yourselves. Yeah, I’m coming home.
JM: How was the hospital? Did she…?
SJ: No, sadly.
 YG: :( We’re sorry
TH: Yeah… we know how much you love her.
NJ: Maybe one day she’ll remember you
SJ: I don’t care about that anymore, I’m not sad about it
JK: Wait, why not? You’re usually so torn up about it once hours are up.
SJ: I don’t know, I just noticed that every time I go to see her, it’s like she’s never seen me, and…
YG: And what?
SJ: And it’s like she falls in love with me all over again, every day. She never gets tired of it, she never gets tired of my face and she never wants me to leave once visitation is over.
TH: Now that’s what I call true love. She’s never freaked out at you?
SJ: No, never. I tell her that she knows me and she’s always a little confused at first but I always see that light in her eyes, I can practically feel the butterflies she gets. I just know that she loves me, even if it’s new to her every time I go in.
NJ: :) that’s the spirit!
YG:  I feel like I could write a million songs right now
TH: Me too :D
HS: That’s so beautiful T_T
JK: You should just pop the question every day to see what she says ;)
JM: It’s good that she has someone like you
Seokjin smiled to himself as he locked his phone. He would visit you every day, watch you fall in love all over again until one day he would finally be so embedded in your memory that you had one less thing to forget. So that he would never have to leave you, so visiting hours were never over.
~ The Next Day ~
“Seokjin, back again, are we?” Your mother asked, a smile on her face as she nursed a cup of coffee, leaning on the wall by the door to your room. “Seems like you’re freeing up your schedule.”
“I’m trying to as much as I can, Ms (L/N),” he says cheerfully, gripping a small gift bag. “Is she awake?”
 “Yep, and pretty energetic, too.”
“Oh, good. So, I can go in?” He asked, smiling at your mother.
“Of course, go on.”
The door made a small click once again as Jin entered the room, his smile becoming a grin as you looked over at him from your sketchbook.
“Hi there,” he greeted, smiling over at you. “Mind if I sit?”
“Hi,” you say in return, shoving your book and pencil crayons off to one side with a giant smile. “You’re more than welcome to sit down. My name’s (Y/N).”
Seokjin took toward the padded seat next to your bed, gently placing down the gift bag in his lap, deciding to present it to you before he left at the end of visitation. “I know.”
“You do?”
All over again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FRIDAY - 6 - Part 2
As the two of you travel down the hallway making quiet conversation, Mark stops in his tracks. You're completely focused on him, not sure what he's looking at. The hallway goes silent, save for heavy breathing and the sound of kissing.
Peeking out from behind Mark's back, you peer around the bend of the hallway to join your soulmate's gaze, landing on none other than Rhiannon and Donghyuck, the latter pushing her up against the wall.
"You hypocrite!" Mark quickly covers your mouth with his hand, but it's already too late- both of them are startled enough to quickly separate and begin smoothing out their clothes.
Once Rhiannon realizes that it's you and Mark that caught her, she grabs Donghyuck's hand. She looks completely serious, her face flushed red. "Where, need it now. Our turn."
With your mouth still covered, you look up at Mark. He's still nearly stunned, exchanging looks with Donghyuck, who is equally frozen in place and watching all of this unfold. "Uh," Mark starts sheepishly, glancing between the couple standing before you. "End of the hall, second last room,"
Donghyuck nods and says something in Korean, and from context you assume he's done the same as Mark - prepared a room. He tugs on her hand gently, quickly leading her past the two of you - the slightly awkward moment passing as soon as Rhiannon and Donghyuck are out of sight.
Mark removes his hand from your mouth, and you glance back for a moment. "Well," you say, swallowing thickly. "I guess I know how she feels now."
Mark smiles, barely keeping back a laugh. "Seems like it. Let’s go back to the stage before we find out if those rooms are soundproof or not."
It was relieving to know that once you two arrived back in the arena, none of the guys even so much as made a whisper about what you and Mark so obviously left to do. Everyone was now sitting on the stage around what looked like a picnic blanket that had a spread of snacks over top of it. They all waved to greet you and Johnny helped you up on the stage when you approached. “Help yourself,” Jaehyun said, popping a piece of melon in his mouth. “We just gotta wait for Donghyuck and Rhiannon to come back and then we can do a small dance practice.”
You and Mark happily approach the others and take your seats among them. You sigh in contentment as you chew on a piece of pineapple, finally chipping away at your post-sex appetite.
"So," Johnny begins as you're about to eat your second piece of pineapple, "we couldn't get much out of Mark, but we were all wondering why you and Rhiannon were living by yourselves off-campus in the city."
You freeze for a moment, chewing and swallowing cautiously. Mark grabs your hand and looks at you sympathetically.
"It's a little complicated," you answer, "but we chose to move out when we were accepted to college. I lived with her family for a while after my parents were arrested, but I feel like I made their home life a lot worse. I would have left earlier, but my inheritances and my government grants didn't arrive immediately."
Jaehyun looked at you, eyebrows furrowed. "What happened to your parents?"
You licked your lips and sighed. "Your general gang slash drug dealer gig. They both got hefty prison time for child neglect, drug possession and trafficking on top of harbouring fugitives."
Everyone was silent, save for the muted sounds of eating. "That all sounds horrible," Johnny said. "I never would have guessed you came from that life."
"Sometimes I can't believe I went through any of that either," you agree, "after I left home my life got a lot better. I have Rhiannon to thank for it all. Because of her, I'm here now." You smile as best you can, picking up a mini ham and cheese sandwich triangle you spotted on the platter.
"What are we all talking about?" Rhiannon called as she and Donghyuck entered through one of the side archways into the arena. You and Mark helped them up onto the stage where they took their places and also began picking at the food.
"Collecting my life story," you say, watching the others nod. "I was saying that I lived with you and your family for a while until we moved out."
"Mm, yeah. Rough few years," she commented, picking up her own sandwich triangle. "I'm so glad we moved out."
"Why?" Jungwoo asked, causing you to turn your attention to him.
Rhiannon licked her lips. "It was pretty easy going for the five of us while my mom was still around. (Y/N) and I were working to help my dad out and my mom ran a daycare. When the two of us were graduating from high school, my mom passed away from breast cancer."
You looked down at the floor of the stage, acutely aware of the sullen silence as she paused. "Then life got bad. Mine and my sister's mental health plummeted and everyone was always arguing, especially my dad and my sister. Once (Y/N) and I were both accepted to study in the city, we moved out with her inheritance as fast as we could."
"I'm sorry," Taeyong added. "It's better now, right?"
"As good as it can be," you smile somberly, peeking up a little bit as Mark held your hand. "I miss our mom more and more every day, but we know she's watching over us, cheering us on. If we give up on what we've been working so hard for, she'd definitely beat our asses. Once we graduate, we will be able to build the best lives for ourselves as we can."
"Now that we have all of you, it feels like we fell out of a nightmare and ended up in a dream," Rhiannon said, chewing on another piece of food. "Now all I need to do is get (Y/N) to stop eating stuff with ketchup and I will reach nirvana."
You rolled your eyes and smiled at her. "Ketchup isn't that bad," you protest, nearly breaking out into full out laughter as Mark also makes a disgusted face toward you.
"You like ketchup?" He asked, jokingly frowning.
"Not as much as her sister," you point at Rhiannon, "Lindsay will eat ketchup with mac and cheese!"
"Oh God, that's disgusting!" Mark stuck his tongue out and nearly gagged.
"We know!" Both you and Rhiannon exclaimed in unison.
Things quieted down again as everyone finished the snacks that were laid out, and you all helped clean up once the tray of snacks was polished off. Yuta ended up being the one voted to go backstage with the dishes, but Johnny, Taeyong and Doyoung eventually offered to go and help. Jungwoo, Jaehyun and Taeil also left, you assumed to maybe go to the bathroom, leaving you, Rhiannon, Mark and Donghyuck to occupy the stage.
Once the crowd had diminished, Rhiannon turned her attention to Mark, mischief written all over her face. You already know what's about to come out of her mouth, so you stand up and make your way onto the other side of the stage to hide behind a curtain.
"(Y/N)? Why are you hiding?" Mark seems curious, standing up to walk over to you, but stops in his tracks when Rhiannon begins to speak.
"So, Mark, you guys were up there for a while."
"Y-yeah…" his response was drawn out, not exactly sure where the conversation was going. You inwardly groaned.
"Did you like (Y/N)'s boobs? Pretty big, right? Also super pretty,"
"Noona!" Donghyuck chimed in, also standing up and reaching for her arm. "That's bad!"
Mark goes beet red, looking your way sheepishly. He starts stuttering as if he's shutting down. You take a deep breath, you probably should do something.
"Y-yeah, they were pretty great, um-" he starts, then it looks like something clicks in his head. "H-how would you know what they look like?"
Rhiannon grinned at him, her eyes shifting to the backstage entrance as Yuta and the others were all clamouring back in, "I've seen her naked tons of times. Best breasts on the market if you ask me."
"This needs context! This really needs context!" Johnny shouted as soon as everyone else stopped in their tracks.
At this point, Mark is so red that you think he might actually turn into a tomato. He's completely frozen and speechless, mouth hanging open in shock. Taking in a deep breath you emerge from the curtain you take Mark's hand and squeeze it gently.
"How about we address how quickly you came back from the VIP rooms?" You question, sticking your other hand on your hip.
"Well, y'know," she starts, looking over at the small crowd of boys staring in disbelief.
"Noona-" Donghyuck tries to stop her, but she whispers something in his ear which in turn seems to stop his protest.
"I'm all for taking dick up my cooch but I figured a nice thigh fuck would be better to start out with. Keep them wanting more, right? Oh, he's not small, either."  She winked.
"Noonaaaaaa," Donghyuck whines, following that up with something else in Korean you couldn't understand. Everyone in the room was completely silent, frozen in disbelief of what had just entered their ears.
"Well, I think you got your context, John," Jaehyun was the first to utter any words.
It definitely took a while for you to process what just happened. You knew what Rhiannon was like and you expected a small comment from her, but you were completely floored. You opened your mouth to say something, but no words came.
"Well, let's not just stand here, we have an hour before the stylists want us," Taeyong clapped his hands politely, and that seemed to get everyone else in gear. The awkwardness still took a while to fade, so you and Rhiannon decided to sit off to the side while the boys clamoured into their positions to practice dancing.
Once the melody of Cherry Bomb entered your ears, your heart began to thud in your chest. It was one of your favourite songs by them, and the dance was also easily one of your favourites, just behind BOSS. You sat just by the edge of the curtain, clapping along and waving whenever Mark glanced in your direction, tapping your feet against the floor. Rhiannon was outright jamming next to you, making you laugh and grin at her as you shook your head.
When Simon Says started, you stood and (pathetically) tried to imitate the dance as you stood in your spot. Mark looked over at you for a split second as he faced you to change positions in the dance and he flashed a quick thumbs up with a smile.
The next thing you notice though is Rhiannon, who also decided to stand up to start dancing. "Hey (Y/N), watch this," she bends her arms to a ninety-degree angle and then begins to swivel her hips like she's playing with a hula hoop.
You can barely contain your laughter as you watch her dance and don't even notice that the music stopped, everyone turned toward her to catch her in the act.
Yuta is holding his phone, presumably the one controlling the Bluetooth speakers that are hidden somewhere on the stage, trying not to laugh. "Neither of you know how to dance, do you?"
"Hell no," you're wiping away a tear, watching Rhiannon' silly grin.
"I don't know what you're talking about, but I hope Red Velvet has an opening cause I'm about to take the world by storm," she is hardly able to finish her joke before she also bursts out laughing, doubling over and holding her stomach.
"C'mere," Mark held out a hand to you, "let's all have some fun before we have to go."
With a smile you approach your soulmate, pressing your scarred palms to his. A newer song you don't think you've heard yet starts playing over the speakers, Yuta smiling warmly in your direction. Rhiannon joins Donhgyuck and the boys slowly begin to teach you an easy dance, laughing and having fun.
Time flew by and eventually they had to go backstage to get changed and have makeup done by the stylists. You and Rhiannon stuck around backstage for a bit, but eventually, you decided to go find your seats. You left your backpack in the stylist room with Mark, hoping you would remember it after the show.
"Wait!" Mark caused you to stop in your tracks on the way out, turning towards him and meeting his eyes. "I have something for you." He stands up from the makeup chair he was perched in and dug around in a cardboard box in the corner of the room. He eventually comes up with an NCT127 light stick box.
"You really didn't have to, I could have gone out to the merchandise line," you said sheepishly as Mark handed it to you with a grin.
"It's a gift," he retorted with a smile. "I wouldn't want you to be in that line long enough for you to miss any of the performances."
"Thank you, Mark, I'll wave it higher than everyone else." You looked over at the stylist. "Can I kiss him, please?"
She nodded. "We haven't done lips yet. Go ahead."
Excitedly you lean forward to peck Mark on the lips. "I love you, see you soon,"
"I love you too, (Y/N)," Mark held your hand for a few seconds before he had to let you leave the room and return to his chair.
Once you had taken your seat and prepared your light stick, the lights began to fade. Other fans were being let into the venue, and soon enough the concert would start. Rhiannon looked over at you with a grin, holding up a pair of earplugs.
"Check your light stick box," she said. "If we learned anything from seeing BTS last year is that we need these, Donghyuck packed some for me. Maybe Mark did for yours."
Peering into your box, you noticed at the bottom that there was a pair of earplugs sitting there and a note in Mark's writing.
In case you forgot. Love, Mark
You smiled at the note fondly, placing it back in the box, closing it tightly. You slipped it underneath your chair, sitting down and watching the lights dim. You just finished putting the lightstick strap around your wrists, putting the earplugs in your pocket.
Your phone buzzed as fans began to take their seats, and smiled when you read a text from Mark.
Mark: I hope you're ready for the show tonight
You: I've been preparing myself since I bought the tickets
Mark: I wanted to ask you something before my phone gets confiscated
You: What do you need?
Rhiannon perched her chin on your shoulder and read the texts. "Ooh," she sang. "Does he sext you?"
"No!" You quickly dispute. "I'm not sure what he's gonna ask."
Mark: I spoke to my manager and the guys, since I leave for Vancouver tomorrow, I wanted to know if I could spend the night at your place
You: you would really be allowed to do that?
Mark: they made a special exception, I just wanted to know if you would be comfortable with it
You: of course I would be, you are more than welcome to stay with me
"Ooooh! I hope they made that exception for Hyuckie!" Rhiannon exclaims, taking her head off your shoulder and reaching into her pocket for her phone.
Mark: that makes me really happy, meet me in the VIP room after the show, I will bring your backpack
You: okay, I love you, don't overdo it
Mark: I can handle anything life throws at me, dont worry :) love you too
It felt like as soon as you put your phone down, the concert started. Any concert you've ever been to has always managed to be the fastest few hours of your life. This one was no exception - you could feel your heart pound and your chest vibrate with the beat, eyes glued to the stage before you.
You always had problems remembering everything that took place during any show. You knew every song and you sang until your throat went raw, danced with your lightstick until your arm was sore and rolled your eyes with a smile whenever Rhiannon screamed too loudly, too close to your ear. During the concert, you forgot about life outside. You forget about your problems, your exams, graduation, everything.
Something you would never forget, though, was every time Mark looked at you. No matter how deep in concentration he was, every time he was on stage and close to you, he would smile. His face would be glistening with sweat, his chest would heave in deep breaths during a transition, but no matter what, he always managed to grin in your direction.
Being so close to the stage and just being at any concert always gave you a special type of high, that filled your heart with music and happiness that you sometimes felt you couldn't experience. At the end, when the boys left the stage and the lights came back on, you sat down to finish soaking it all in.
"Agh, I'm all sweaty," was the first thing Rhiannon said since everything was all over, and you couldn't help but laugh a little.
"I wonder why," you muse sarcastically, looking up at her from your seat with a smile.
She looked down at you and stuck her tongue out. "Don't you have somewhere to be?" She asked.
Your eyes widened. "Yeah. Is Donghyuck going to meet you backstage?"
She nodded. "Mhm, I'll meet up with you two later. See you in a bit."
You gave Rhiannon a quick hug before grabbing your lightstick box and attempting to move with the crowd exiting the arena. Some of the fans that catch a glimpse of you stare as you pass by- most likely noticed that you had a backstage pass lanyard around your neck. You try to avoid eye contact with them as best you can, slipping into the staircase that leads up to the VIP rooms.
You reached the end of the hallway, gripping the doorknob and pushing it open. The curtain was still covering the window that looked over the arena, and the small coffee table was still pushed up against it, next to the bar stools. You slipped off your shoes and sat on the couch, making yourself comfortable. It would probably be a little while before Marked joined you, so you set down your lightstick box and curled up in the corner of the cushions.
The ringing in your ears slowly faded away as your mind wandered, drifting off into a light snooze. You feel comfortable and warm, the scent of Mark still was barely noticeable in the air around you. You smiled to yourself when you thought of what Mark reminded you of- a strong campfire with fresh s'mores and the sweet summer air that lingered just outside the radius of the fire's warmth.
There was a soft clicking sound that followed the doorknob being turned. You barely perk up when Mark enters the room, clad in his Superhuman t-shirt and black jeans. It seems all of the sweat from his performances has been wiped away, but his face is still flushed. He slips your backpack off his back and gently sets it by the door.
"Hey, sleepy," he whispers, approaching you and kneeling before you. He gently takes your hands, kissing the knuckles. "Did you have fun?"
You smile sleepily at him. "Yeah, I had a lot of fun. You don't look tired,"
Mark continued to smile at you. "Looks can be deceiving," he says. "I just have to put some things away and then we can go."
You perk up a bit as he stands, grabbing the blanket to put inside his own backpack. "Shouldn't we wait until everyone is gone?"
Mark shrugs. "We have to go back down to see the others, that should give us some extra time so that we don't get in a streetcar where we will be swarmed."
You nod, yawning. "Okay, I trust you."
Mark sat down beside you once he zipped up his backpack, giving you a tired smile. He looked down at his arms, idly running a finger against the scar of his arm. "I guess we will be seeing a lot of news about this soon."
You join his gaze and frown a little. "Do you think it will be bad?" You ask, chewing on your lip.
"No, I don't think so. At least I hope. I like to think our fandom is mature enough," Mark takes your hand for a moment and squeezes it. "Shall we go?"
You nod and unfurl yourself to stand up. You both put on your backpacks, you put on your shoes and then head out the door together. You return backstage to meet with everyone, feeling a little surreal that you can personally compliment them on their performances. When you hug each member one last time, you barely catch yourself indulging in their scents, all unique and sweet in their own way. Rhiannon is watching you with a knowing smirk as you do, and as you hug Jungwoo you manage to stick your tongue out at her.
It felt strange but good to go home that night with Mark. It was warm and a little lonely outside compared to how it was inside the venue during the event, but it was a nice change after being inside with a few thousand screaming people. The streetcar ride and the walk back were pleasant, making idle conversation about the concert as Rhiannon and Donghyuck walked along with you.
Once you arrive home, everyone stumbles tiredly inside. You bring Mark's backpack into your room, and all of you play rock-paper-scissors to determine who gets to use the bathroom in order. Rhiannon, Donghyuck and Mark all destroyed you in the game, so you hang back in the kitchen to make some sleepy time tea while you waited.
You nearly fell asleep standing in the kitchen and waiting for your kettle to finish heating up the water. Just as you're finishing preparing everyone's tea, Mark emerges from the bathroom clad in soft pyjamas and sporting freshly dried hair.
"Is that for me?" He asked, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
You nod at him. "If you could bring the other mugs to Rhiannon and Donghyuck too, Rhi's is the purple mug and the blue one is Donghyuck's. I'm going to go freshen up."
Mark nods at you with a smile. Briefly holding your hand as you make your way into the bathroom. You shower quickly, not bothering to pamper yourself. Once you get out, you dry your hair thoroughly with a towel, sighing at the feeling of massaging your scalp.
Once you exit the bathroom, clad in your own pyjamas, you see that Mark is still in the kitchen, clutching his mug of tea.
"Feel better?" He asks, taking a quick sip.
"Mm," you answer, "I'm just about ready to pass out,"
"I made you a mug of tea if you want it. Half-full." Mark smiles when you gently return his earlier cheek kiss.
You reach forward and grab the warm Dragon Ball Z mug to take a few quick mouthfuls of perfect tea. "Thank you," you say, "I had a really great day today."
"Me too," Mark grins sleepily, "but I'm ready to sleep."
"You and me both." You place your mug in the sink. Mark follows suit, gently taking your hand as you lead him to your room. When you pass the living room you notice it's empty, so you assume Rhiannon and Donghyuck have already both gone to sleep.
Once you open the door to your room, you feel so much more relaxed and comfortable. You beckon Mark in, sheepishly smiling as you begin to relocate your mountain of stuffed animals. There's not much light since you hadn't turned any on, but a streak of moonlight is seeping in through your curtains, enough that some things in your room are clear to see.
"Your room is very cosy," he compliments, taking a seat on the edge of your bed and running his hand along the fabric.
"I spend a lot of time here, so I like to make it as comfortable as possible,"
Mark nods with a small smile. "Oh, I almost forgot."
"Forgot what?" You watch him curiously as he stands and moves to his backpack, unzipping it and rummaging for a few seconds before pulling out the fuzzy polar bear plush.
"This belongs to you," he says, tucking it under the covers before taking his seat again. "We should keep him comfy."
You grin at him, "thank you for not thinking I'm weird for asking about it,"
He shakes his head, "anything to help while I'm gone," he comments, trailing off as he continues to observe the contents of your room, and you blush once you realize Mark has spotted some photo cards stuck onto the edge of the shelf above your computer desk.
"I see you have everyone here," he comments with a smile. "Including…"
"Day6," you answer sheepishly, inviting yourself under the covers. "Come cuddle?"
Mark chuckles lightly and complies. He pulls back his side of the covers and slides in, immediately moving to drape an arm over your side. He blinks slowly, smiling warmly as his eyes search your face.
You bring a hand up to lightly run your hand through his hair, massaging his scalp gently. He closes his eyes and hums with contentment.
"I love you," he whispers, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"I love you, too." You manage to drift off easily that night, content to sleep in Mark's arms.

Always Here → Kim Namjoon
Tumblr media
↳  Pairing: Namjoon/Reader
↳  Word count: 1,932
↳  AU: Guardian Angel!Namjoon
⁙  Summary: When you wake up from a strangely familiar dream, Namjoon seems ready to tell you about the day you met.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yellow, pink, orange, red, beige. You guessed this was a sunset or a sunrise, but things weren't completely clear. Your eyes tried to adjust to the scenery around you, standing in what was beginning to look like either a wheat field or an overgrown meadow. A sudden warmth washed over you, the sun beaming down and the sky gave way to a pleasant and calming breeze. This feeling, this place… you knew it, but… something wasn't right.
When the sounds of leaves and grass in the wind left your ears and the feeling of the soft spring breeze left your cheek, you decided to move. Your head felt fuzzy and you couldn’t quite feel your legs. Still, you persevered and willed yourself to walk. One step forward, two steps forward, another. Another sound began to fill your ears, something other than the gentle wind. It was almost like the gentle clicking of glass wind chimes, manipulated by someone’s hand. Not that it wasn’t pleasant, it just confused you. Just like this whole moment did.
The gentle sound continues and when you felt defeated in the short quest to find the sound’s origin, your legs finally gave out. You collapsed to your knees, catching yourself on a soft bed of flowers. Not thinking much of it, you looked up to watch the sky’s colours manipulate and flow in the sunrise.
That's when you saw it.
A silhouette in the distance over the tips of the soft cotton-tipped plants and flowers. Squinting, you wondered who it was. They had obviously spotted you, the figure had been moving closer for a few seconds now.
The closer it got never seemed to matter. They never became more visible. Each step bore more curiosity in your veins, wondering if they were like you, confused, overwhelmed and nosy. They got closer, closer. The light of the morning acted as a parting veil when they reached their hand toward you as if they were trying to help you up. Their skin was tanned, honey and sun-blessed. Like this place, their skin moulded into and contrasted the colours of the sunrise, perfect in every way. The hand was large, fingers long and distinctly Male.
You wondered if you should take it. Just as you brought your hand up, your heart began to beat faster. So much that you could feel it pulse in your neck. Another wash of warmth was quickly followed by the breeze again. The sun seemed to move in a way that began to reveal the rest of him as the pads of your fingertips touched his-
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!*
You shot up in your bed. A dream, huh? That explained it, but… it felt too real to be a dream. You remembered every second of it, unlike all the other dreams you may or may not have had throughout your life. You looked at your hand. It even felt like something as real as the blankets bunching up on your lap. You could still feel the touch of the tips of his fingers on yours.
You silenced your alarm, curious why it went off. You remembered the previous day being Friday, and therefore you must have forgotten to shut off your alarm for the weekend. Shrugging, you peeled your covers back and swung your legs over the side of your bed to touch the floor. You moseyed over to the curtains of your room and pulled them back. It was barely morning at all, dark and dusky, fog obscuring the lamps lighting the path out into the distance from your remote home. A smile weaved its way across your face. It was okay that you were up early.
Padding from your room and weaving your hands through your hair to untangle it, you yawned. Making your way down the hall, the smell of food hits your nose, and the rumbling of your stomach was quick to follow. Humming in the appreciation of impending breakfast, your smile only grows wider as you see a silhouette in the kitchen; the only thing barely illuminating his figure is the faint flame coming from your wood stove.
“Good morning,” states the silhouette, voice deep and soothing. “I heard your alarm go off, I thought you might have returned to sleep.”
You sit down at your little dining room table and placed your hands on the surface, watching. “Yes, but I was wondering if you wanted to watch the sunrise with me. Can you make some more? It smells so good.”
“Anything for you, my little angel,” he replies softly, the sizzle of food reaching your ears as he continues to cook. You had always loved watching him. The way he moved, tapped his foot idly and watching the pan before him. The way he did mundane things like laundry in such a calm and graceful way. Your clothes were always clean, smelled lovely and were neatly folded to be put away. Your food was always perfect, just the way you liked it. If you were an angel, he was God himself.
“You're staring again,” he mused, turning and setting a plate down in front of you with three pancakes atop it. They were decorated with three small squares of butter and maple syrup. He quickly joined you, his own plate stacked high with pancakes, all absolutely drenched in the sugary liquid.
“Sorry,” you apologize awkwardly. “I just like watching you do things,”
He hummed, “don’t take it as criticism,” he held up a hand, “I think it's cute,” he picked up his own fork and even though you couldn't fully see his face, you knew he was excited to start eating.
“You sure love that stuff,” you comment as the two of you dig in. He wolfs his food down quickly, barely acknowledging your comment until his plate was fully clear of an entire stack of pancakes. You couldn't help but laugh, shaking your head gently.
“I do, I love sweet things,” he answered as he glided his fork along the plate to gather up any syrup that didn't manage to make it into his mouth. “You know what’s even better than maple syrup?”
You chewed and swallowed, tilting your head to the side. “What?”
“You.”
You scoffed with a smile and shook your head, laughing. “Namjoon,” you whine, barely able to contain yourself. “You're so cheesy!”
You could tell he was smiling, elbow resting on the table and balancing his chin on his palm. You felt his eyes on you as he waited for you to finish eating. “What made you want to watch the sunrise?” He asked.
“I… had a dream. It felt so real, a sunrise that I felt like I knew, and I know you were there. I couldn't see you fully, almost like right now. But I didn't know it was you in the dream. The alarm woke me up as you touched my hand,” you explain, finishing your breakfast.
Namjoon hummed in thought and looked away. He didn't do that often, making you worry if you upset him. After a moment of complete silence, he offered a hand. “Are you full?”
“Yes, thank you,” you watched as he cleaned up your plates and moved to stand by your chair, offering his hand again.
“I think I know what your dream was about,” Namjoon states as you take his hand, standing. His skin was soft and his touch gentle. The lighter dusk of the morning was beginning to creep through the kitchen window, so you could finally see his face. He was smiling gently, dimples indented on his cheeks. “Come to watch the sunrise?”
“Yes, please.” Namjoon gently pulled you through the kitchen and led you out the door into the meadow behind your house. A nearly infinite expanse of flowers, soft wild wheat and berry bushes. The colours weren't as vibrant as they were about to be, but even the dull muted mornings comforted you.
“What you saw was a memory,” Namjoon explained, holding your hand tightly. His face fell and smile faded. “You almost died that day, little angel. I couldn't just watch it happen, being… what I am… or was.” He avoided eye contact with you for a moment, but he did not let go of your hand.
You let out a deep breath, licking your lips. When the two of you stopped to lay down in the flowers, you felt tiny droplets of dew seep into your pyjamas. “Is that why it felt so real to me?”
“I think so. I… I had never met you then, I had only watched. I was only supposed to watch, it… was against what I was, I was supposed to be your guardian angel, but… what guardian lets their charge just… die? I… I've loved you for so long that I gave up everything to save you, to be here with you.”
You touched your temple with your free hand as Namjoon talked. He had refused to tell you about the day the two of you met for as long as you could recall. He said that you couldn't remember it because of the scar on your head. “Can I… ask what happened?” you ask timidly, knowing that he still might not be willing. You didn't want to pressure him, but… you had to know.
Namjoon sighed and looked at you. His hair was tousled by the grass, a daisy covering his left eye. “You were shot in the head. A misfire by a hunter that meant to kill a deer you were feeding,” he explained hesitantly. His grip on your hand remained tight, but you still managed to shift yourself enough to rub the top of his hand with your thumb.
“I’m here,” you say, watching still as his breath began to stutter. “My angel, Namjoon, I will always be here.” The sun began to wash over you, the oranges, yellows, reds, pinks, were in sight, the perfection of Namjoon’s skin was fully realized, like your dream. “I’m here.”
His breath stuttered. “I gave up everything, but it’s all been worth it. You are the greatest thing that ever happened to me.” His smile was slowly returning, letting go of your hand and rolling onto his side. He draped his other arm over you, tracing a finger on your waist. The sun was a warm blanket against the cool morning air. “I love being here with you more than anything else. More than thousands of years sitting on a cloud, watching humans birth and die, watching them kill one another, on purpose or by accident. It was too much on my soul.”
“You don’t have to worry about that now,” you assure him gently. “You've done more than enough to earn a better life,”
Namjoon yawned and scooted closer to you. “I still don’t deserve you,” he whispered, barely lifting the hem of your pyjama shirt with the tip of his index finger.
You almost laughed out loud, turning on your side as well. “Never say that,” you mused, “you saved my life, nursed me back to health and you still care about me like no one ever has. I'd say you deserve me tenfold. Never underestimate how much I love you.”
 Namjoon smiled and closed his eyes. “I love you too,” he yawned once more. “Let’s just… relax, don’t go on any errands today,” his voice began to fade and his eyelids fluttered. “Let’s just… stay here.”
You giggled softly and cuddled up closer to him. “Okay. I’ll stay.”
“I love you,” he whispered, “Thank you,” “I love you too, Namjoon.”
FRIDAY - 5 - Part 1
The covers that enveloped you were warm and soft, keeping you nearly trapped under the weight of a thick duvet. Time ticked by slowly as you found the most comfortable position in bed.
Mark's body was pressed taut against you, and you could feel nearly every inch of him attached to your backside. His arm was draped over you, his hand casually coming to rest over your tummy, only he had put in the lazy effort of slipping it underneath your nightshirt.
Even when Mark is asleep he's driving you crazy. You doubt he's even noticed that your skin is twitching under his touch, the comfort and warmth of blankets making every feeling warmer and sensitive. You feel his steady breath tickling the back of your neck, his pelvis pressed against your ass, and you let out a whimper when he adjusts himself.
"(Y/N)?" Mark's voice is groggy and filled with sleep. He grips your hip gently, fingers sliding over the flesh of your side. "Are you okay?"
"What would you do if I told you no?" You ask sheepishly, turning around in bed so you were facing him. The darkness of your room left a lot to the imagination, but you could still slightly make out his twinkling eyes. Again, you felt like he was staring straight at your soul.
"Then I'd ask why you're not okay," he says, and you can tell he's smiling at you. His hands are beginning to wander up your body, from your hip to your waist.
"You, silly. I can't get you out of my head. Everything you do sets my heart on fire - I can't sleep or study, I-" another whimper escapes you when you feel his index finger gently flick your nipple.
"You do the same to me," he admits. "I can barely keep my hands off you. You're intoxicating…" his hand slides away from your breast, running down your arm to grasp your hand. "Here," he guides you down to tuck your hand underneath the pant line of his sweats, his member hard and hot. You circled your hand around it and Mark sighed in relief.
You suck in a sharp breath. "Mark,"
"Don't talk," he commanded lowly. "Just kiss me, please,"
Through the darkness, your lips met in a wet kiss. His hips thrust into your hand, causing him to groan and separate from the kiss so he could rest his forehead against yours.
"Good," he groaned, closing his eyes tightly and licking his lips. "Fuck, grip it harder."
As soon as you comply and tighten your grip on his cock, he moans again and began thrusting harder into your hand. Hearing and feeling all of this nearly floods your underwear, and you wished that he was fucking you instead of your hand.
Mark kisses you again, desperate. You can feel the puffs of him breathing through his nose on your face, and you can barely keep yourself sane.
"Mark-" his voice rolls off your tongue once you manage to break his kiss, as if you were begging, and he barely slows down. He tightly holds your shoulder, and you think it might bruise.
"Y-yeah?"
"Please," you really feel like you're begging now.
(Y/N)!
That wasn't Mark's voice.
"(Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)!"
Groaning, you begin to open your eyes. The room isn't quite bright yet, and suddenly you feel a great weight on your abdomen.
"Mark?" You ask dumbly, the figure shaking you awake not quite clear enough for you to see.
"No, it's me!"
One you realize you can move your arms, you bring your hands up to rub your eyes. Your vision clears up and you realize Rhiannon is sitting on top of you, looking down on you with a giant grin on her face. Her hands are gripping your shoulders tightly, enough that you wince.
"Rhiannon, what the hell?" You ask, barely reaching your glasses that were perched on your desk. You slip them on and even further notice that she is shirtless. "You woke me up. Put a shirt on."
"I know, dummy!" She exclaims. "Look!" She shoves her chest further into your face until you see it. Puffy scar marks in the shape of hands on her shoulders.
"You have-"
"Donghyuck is my soulmate!"
You’re too tired for this, and coming out of a dream that surely will not leave your brain. “Rhiannon, I’m happy for you, but can you please get off me?” Raising an eyebrow, Rhiannon lifts herself from your body and sits on the edge of your bed. She’s still grinning like a maniac, tracing the scars. “My hand marks are going to be on his chest,” she reminds you, tapping her feet excitedly on the floor. “I’m gonna rip off his shirt tonight so I can look at them. And do other things. As you do.”
Groaning, you peel the covers off yourself. “Jesus, TMI,” you say, rubbing your eyes. “You’re way too excited about this.” Rhiannon scoffed. “You’re not excited enough! We’re soulmates with two members of NCT! How amazing is that?! All the fanfictions in the world could never have actually prepared me for this! What should I wear?” You’re soon enough drowning out her hushed ramblings on if she should try looking for a new dress at Forever 21. “I’m happy for you, Rhi, but you should really stop worrying so much. Didn’t you have an outfit planned out a month ago?” You ask, standing up and moving out of your room to start the day, Rhiannon following close behind.
“Yes,” she replied immediately, watching you dig through your clean clothes for the outfit you set aside for the day. “But now that I know I’m Donghyuck’s soulmate, I think I should wear something better.” “We’re going to an NCT concert, dude. NOT wearing neon green is gonna make you look just plain weird. Just go with what you picked out.”
Rhiannon sighed, conceding with a dejected nod. “I just don’t know if he’ll like it or not.” You smile, finally pulling out your own neon green tank top and blue shortalls. “He’ll love it, stop worrying.” You pull on your own outfit, adding a handmade hairband with the word 마크 written in little neon felt letters atop it. "How do I look?"
"Stunning, as usual," Rhiannon replies, smiling. "I'm gonna go get changed. See you at the venue." Rhiannon disappears into her bedroom as you grab your backpack and a granola bar, heading out to the last class of the week.
Let's hope I don't trip and ruin my clothes…
Friday. Two days left to submit your final for evaluation, but if you were to get the grade you wanted, you decided to submit it at the end of class. From your locker, you pulled out your finished portfolio, a playfully decorated photo book covered in stickers and polaroid photos. All that was left was your mini-essay.
You arrived into class and greeted Moose warmly, quickly letting her get back to her own project that she was finishing up. Once you sit down at your computer, you read through your document that you had been working on whenever you weren’t with Mark.                                       - Final Portfolio and Bonus Objective -
                                                  Love in Photographs
                                                          (Y/N) (L/N)
                                                         Ms. Prentice
                                                     Photography 203
In this essay, I will address the personal effects of photography and how, in the second and final year of my program, my entire life has changed within a week’s time. In this final, my photos will reflect on why I chose to use the concert program as my focus.
Photography is, to me, an incredibly emotional profession. From weddings to sprawling landscapes, a photo will mean something to someone. It means a beautiful memory that will last forever, the progression of nature and our planet, or solid evidence of a crime that could provide closure to a mourning family.
Photography can also have an impact during the social interaction of business. It didn’t occur to me for nearly two years that I’ve spent studying the profession. When I signed up for the concert program, I was just a fan of the group I happened to see a flyer for. NCT is a K-Pop group currently touring in North America and the group that hired me for the program.
It was my emotional connection to them that made me want to take the job. It was thrilling to think about working for them as my first clients, even if it was a co-op program. I wanted to meet them, talk with them, learn what they wanted and do my best to make it a reality. The program was always going to be an emotional experience for me, but I truly learned about how photography was an emotional two-way street after I met Mark Lee in person.
After this week, I truly believe that everybody winds up getting the jobs they’re supposed to get.
Mark Lee is the main subject of my portfolio and a member of NCT. He was the person I spent the most time with, and considering the specifications of NCT’s commission, he was the person I worked with the most. While NCT specifically asked for one singular photo, Mark was insistent on spending time with me, letting me take photos of him for my project. The day after meeting him, my scars appeared. Mark Lee was my soulmate, something that I never thought I’d find - and would never have looked for intentionally.
The connection we formed was stronger than any other emotional bond I’ve had throughout my life, and from that moment on, every photo I took was a passion project. Sealing my soulmate in the immortality of a photo was exhilarating. Something I could keep close while he was away. It made me think of future clients, an image was clear in my head of someone asking me for the same thing. Something to see and remember even if the subject of that photo was too far away to touch.
In the past, I had been sceptical of having a soulmate of my own, but I knew I had to dampen my prejudice for the sake of future clients, especially those looking to hire me for their wedding photos. In wedding ceremonies, I would be photographing soulmates that could be naked for all I knew. Soulmate marks could appear anywhere, after all. Still, my worldview made me reluctant to think about that branch of career. I told myself I would only photograph wildlife or do fully clothed modelling, even if that decision cut my clientele in half. Until Mark Lee.
In this portfolio, you can see Mark on various outings with me and the rest of NCT, or just posing for the sake of a ‘cool picture with the subway in the background’. Photographs don’t need to have a purpose as a photograph holds meaning no matter what the subject is. For me, the photos in this final represent letting go of my fears and finding love, humbling myself and seeing that I can branch out and do more than I planned. Instead of seeking grandeur, I want to take photos of anything someone might find the smallest amount of happiness in. A smile, a flower, a kiss. Even if someone is worried about asking for something that may seem trivial, I want to assure them that if it means something to them, it means something to me, too.
Any photo here of Mark Lee, or even the one photo I took of NCT, to me, is a symbol of love. To make new friends and experience a culture different from mine, to see their dreams become a reality in front of me. If this final project before I graduate is the gate to my own dream coming true, these photos will definitely represent my passion. To see more than just myself. To see others and the love they share for anything this world has to offer.
Originally, the portfolio I was going to create was going to be just one photo from the program, but in the end, over half of what is included was from the past week. An emotional connection to the world and everything in it is every bit important in the world of photography as skills with a camera. Both of which I hope to carry into the world with me as my career truly begins.
Satisfied, you saved your work and went through it once more with Grammarly to make sure you hadn’t let any mistakes slip past. Your heart beats rapidly in your chest as you send the document to the classroom printer, knowing that once you tape your essay inside of your portfolio project, it was time to submit early and wait for your teacher’s sign of approval on your graduation form. After submitting your papers into the printer, you make your way to the classroom’s printer and log in to your account, selecting the pages you’ve sent to it. Now it was time to wait. Your phone buzzes, and you pull it out to read a text. Mark: How’s class?
You: I’m almost done my paper
You: Gonna submit it and then I can leave early
Mark: Sweet see you soon?
You: Yeah, see you soon
Mark: I can’t wait, I had a strange dream last night
Before you can reply, your paper finishes printing. Deciding to answer his text later, you return to your desk and finish up your final. You quickly flip through the book to make everything is secured, and with a deep breath, you stand. Ms Prentice is smiling at you from her desk, beckoning you over once she realizes you have your portfolio in hand.
“Glad to see my top student is still consistent,” she said in a sing-song voice, taking the portfolio from you as soon as you reach her desk. “Are you sure you don’t want to take the weekend to add more? I heard the concert you’re attending is today.”
You shake your head. “No, ma’am. I completed the task I was hired for, so any photos I take at the concert won’t have an impact on the messages I want to convey.”
She smiles at you. “I look forward to looking through it, then. You’re dismissed if you have nothing else to complete here.” “Nothing else unless you have a task for me,” you answer, smiling down at her.
Ms Prentice shakes her head, still smiling. “Go ahead, enjoy the rest of your day. Say hello to Mark for me. He’s quite the polite young man.” Blushing, you nod. “Okay, I will.”
As soon as you stepped outside the classroom, you breathed a deep sigh of relief. All of your finals were completed and after the final week of classes, you would prepare to graduate at the end of June.
After making a quick stop to the arts building to pick up a photo frame, you put on some music and headed out to the streetcars. It was still quite early in the morning, so you had a place to sit down during your trip to the venue. You noticed you still hadn't answered Mark's text, you decide to do so while you waited.
You: sorry, was submitting my final - prof says hello
You: I'm on my way now
You: What do you mean by strange dream?
It didn't take Mark long to reply.
Mark: travel safe
Mark: Well it's a little embarrassing to explain kinda
You: I had a dream too last night with you in it
Mark: what happened in it
You: you stayed with me last night and you slept in my bed
Mark: and that's it?
You: hell no >\\\>
Mark: I think we had the same dream
You: how did it end?
Mark: well, uh, you know…
You: mine ended with rhiannon waking me up so I think mine got cut off
Mark: oh
Well I think you can infer what ended up happening
You: aaaaaaaaaaa
Mark: I just wish I could have stayed
You: I wish too but I'll be there soon
Mark: I'll meet you at the station
You: arent you worried about fans swarming you
Mark: nah it's too early for any fans to be showing up since everything is seated there is no reason to camp out
You: okay as long as you're sure
You: Thank you
Mark: of course <3
You: I'm really nervous
You: That dream I had felt really real
Mark: it did for me too
You put your phone down and licked your lips. If anything, you would have loved to live out that dream. Go all the way. It made your body ache thinking about it, but it also made you nervous to think about sneaking around the others if you suggested it to Mark.
You arrived at your stop, a little surprised the place was mostly empty save for Mark sitting inside one of the bus shelters. As soon as he saw the streetcar pull up, he stood to wait for you by the curb.
Mark was still dressed in casual clothes, jeans and a black t-shirt with a pair of yellow converse. That probably meant they hadn't started getting ready for performances yet - which was reasonable considering it wasn't even midday.
Mark smiles when he spots you through the window, waving at you as you exited. Without a word you approached him and trapped him in a tight hug.
"Woah," he whispered, wrapping his arms around you. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," you reply into his chest, voice muffled. "I just missed you."
Mark kissed the top of your head, "I missed you too." Gently holding your shoulders he separated from the hug. "Come on, let's go inside." He takes your hand and squeezes it gently, smiling down at you with a blush consuming his cheeks.
Mark leads you across the street and toward the venue, enjoying a comfortable silence blanketed under the warm summer sun. Just as you reach the maintenance doors, he pauses. "Oh, I almost forgot. Here, you'll need this." Mark reaches into his pocket and pulls out a crumpled up lanyard. On the end of it was a laminated card that had the Neo City cover photo inside with "Backstage Pass" written on the bottom.
"Oh, thank you. I almost forgot about these." You let him put the lanyard around your neck, smoothing it out gently. He smiles and nods approvingly, then continues leading you inside.
There are people milling about, hauling things into the stadium from trucks. You don't have to explicitly show your lanyard, you assume, because you're with Mark, but workers are still cautiously watching you as you pass by.
Once you two enter the arena, you notice that you're close to the back section, where you originally bought tickets for. You spot everyone lounging around the stage that looked like it was just finished being put up. Rhiannon is there as well, sitting with Donghyuck and Jungwoo.
The arena itself was smaller than the largest one you've been to for another concert the year before, but it was still impressive. You take a quick look around, noticing the different sections and the VIP rooms that were attached to the ceiling. This place was originally for hockey, after all.
"Hey, guys!" Mark calls into the stadium. Everyone perks up from their conversation and wave at you, prompting you to wave back sheepishly. "Do you want to go see them, or?" Mark held your hand tightly, speaking softly.
"What do you mean?" You look at him, eyebrows furrowed in curiosity.
"You know… what we talked about. Make time?" There's something in Mark's eyes as he speaks like he's begging you, the usually bright and playful twinkle in his eyes replaced by love and need. His gaze flicks from your eyes to your lips, and he steps a tiny bit closer to you.
Before you can answer, you hear Rhiannon shouting in your direction in Korean. You quickly glance at her, and even though you're too far away to see her face properly, you can tell she's making an obscene gesture at you - making a circle with her thumb and index finger, passing the index finger of her other hand through the circle. The other guys burst out laughing, and you feel your cheeks light up in an embarrassed blush.
"Uhm, what did she say?"
Mark smiles awkwardly, face bright red. He still keeps eye contact, licking his lips before answering your question. "She said she better not catch us trying to fuck in the hallway again…"
You press your forehead into his chest, groaning. "Now they all know about that?!"
Mark chuckles gently. "Yeah, I'm sorry. It's okay though, they're all understanding, I promise. Come on, I have a place for us to go. If you want, that is."
"Y-yeah, but I don't want them to make fun of us…" Mark once again begins leading you out of the stage area and into the main hallway of the venue.
He holds you close as you walk, "I promise that they won't. They can have their fun now, but they'll be doing the exact same thing when they find their own soulmates."
You guessed that you could agree with him on that. You're not exactly sure where he could be leading you as you eventually approach a stairway. Mark stops, searching your expression silently.
"Are you okay, Mark?"
He licks his lips again when he hears his name. "Yeah, I'm okay. I just want to know if you really truly want to do this, and not because you feel pressured."
You gently squeeze Mark's hand, nodding. "I really want this. I give you my full and utter consent. I don't want you to be uncomfortable or pressured, either."
Mark smiles gently at you, relieved. He starts to go up the staircase. "That's why I came here with Donghyuck earlier than the others. Come on, we're almost there."
A little confused by what he meant, you let Mark keep the lead. At the top of the staircase was another smaller hallway lined with doorways. You figured it was to the observation boxes you saw when you were in the arena. He leads you to the end of the hallway, stopping at the final door.
"This one," Mark says to himself, looking back and smiling at you.
"You're not-"
Mark quickly opens the door and holds it open for you, allowing you to enter first. The premium seating area was a lot fancier than you expected- and a lot more closed off. The window overlooking the stage was covered by a black curtain, leaving the room dark until Mark entered the room behind you, flicking on the lights and setting them to be dim. He closed the door behind himself, leaving the two of you truly alone.
On the left of the room was a little kitchen area, complete with cabinets, a mini-fridge and a counter with an electric kettle sitting atop it. In the corner of the counter was a little sink accompanied by soft-looking tea towels. By the window was a bar table with some high chairs, next to it a coffee table shoved against it. On the left of the room was a couch with a soft blanket spread over it.
Mark kicked off his shoes and set them by the door. "What do you think?" He asked shyly. "We have this room until about 2, so plenty of time before people start looking for me."
"Wow," was all you could really muster, also managing to slide off your own shoes. You set your backpack next to them, placing your lanyard on the top of your bag. "You really did this just so we could have some time alone?"
"Yeah," Mark moved to stand in front of you, gently taking your hand and bringing it up to his face so he could kiss your knuckles fondly. "It beats a broom closet or the hallway outside your apartment," he grins.
Your face goes red as your memories flood of his knee nearly meeting your crotch the night before. "Yeah, you're right. Thank you for making me comfortable."
"Of course," he replies cheerfully. "Want me to make you some tea?"
"No, thank you," your gaze meets Mark's and you swallowed thickly. "I really can't get that dream out of my head," your voice quiets to a whisper, like someone outside could still hear you.
Mark's expression changes quickly, from cheerful to something you could almost discern as predatory. "Me neither," he agreed, his voice deeper and softer. "Can I kiss you?"
"You can do a lot more than that," you manage to breathe out before his lips are on yours. You wrap your arms around his torso, grasping the cloth of his t-shirt. His hands are resting gently over the jean material covering your hips, mouth moving against yours perfectly.
You whimper into the kiss, deciding to be a little bold. You untucked his shirt from his jeans and slide your hands underneath the fabric. He takes in a sharp breath once your hands land on his skin, and he breaks the kiss.
"Wow," he sighs, looking at you with half-lidded eyes. His face is flushed and he's smiling warmly at you.
You sigh in return, swallowing thickly. You want to kiss him again, but he backs up. The next thing you know, he's pulling off his shirt, the fabric landing gently on the floor. Mark then begins guiding your hands to touch his chest. His skin is smooth and soft, toned but not too muscular. His hands are wrapped softly around your wrists, guiding but not completely controlling where you touch.
"Feels good," he sighs, and you wonder if you should stay bold.
"I have an idea," you whisper, your gaze flicking to the couch for a moment. "Sit down?"
Mark silently agrees with you, both of you approaching the furniture. Mark sits down first, and you take a moment to drink in the view. He's already nearly panting, watching you and running his tongue over his lips.
Even though his soulmate scar has changed much of what his chest would originally look like, you see his pecs, hard nipples and the outline of nearly formed abs on his tummy. Your eyes continue down to the small black trail of hair that ends your gaze at the band of his boxers peeking out from his jeans. You can tell he's already half-hard in his pants, but you try to not let your gaze linger out of shyness.
"You're stunning, Mark," you say, possibly paralyzed as you stand in front of him.
He smiles, reaching both arms out to you. "C'mere," he says, "I want to know what you had in mind."
Licking your own lips, you nod and approach him, climbing onto his lap and straddling him. You gently kiss him once more, and when you back away, he tries to follow and catch your lips again. You shake your head at him, feeling his hands wander back to your hips.
Taking in a deep breath, you dive in. First, your lips meet the crevice of his neck to his traps, lightly trailing your lips across his skin. You feel the slight swelling of his scar, then normal skin as you end your little expedition on the edge of his shoulder. Placing a hand on his chest, you feel his heartbeat, a little fast-paced but steady. You close your eyes for a moment, readying yourself and hoping that he was going to like what you were about to do.
You lean back to look Mark in the eye, even if he is already lost in how he's feeling. "This all is okay, right?" You ask, just to make sure. Your hand slides from his chest down to his hip, slipping a finger barely underneath the band of his boxers.
"Oh yeah," he sighs. "Keep going."
You comply, lowering your mouth to gently flick your tongue on his right nipple. His reaction is immediate, a whimper that nearly sends you to the high heavens, a strong tingly feeling surging through your crotch.
"Fuck," the word sounded so obscene yet sweet coming from him, "that's good."
Smiling triumphantly, you continue with your plan. Gently licking and sucking ever so slightly on his chest until he's a moaning mess, his grip on your hips getting tighter and you start to feel his cock straining in his pants.
"(Y/N), wait, wait,"
You immediately perk up and begin to worry. "I'm sorry, did I-"
"No," he nearly laughs. "If you keep doing that, I'm gonna cum in my pants."
You sheepishly look away, "oh,"
"(Y/N), it's okay," Mark says softly, his hands coming to your chest to unclip your overalls, "let's make this about you, too."
You're speechless as he slowly guides you to stand up, the loose shortalls falling to the floor. His eyes are almost immediately glued to your panties, and you nearly forgot you were wearing your Avengers themed underwear today, the A symbol brandished proudly on the front.
Mark is grinning at you now. "Please tell me there are Avengers on your butt."
Whimpering out of embarrassment, you hide your face in your hands and you drop to your knees in front of him. Mark kisses your forehead, gently taking hold of your wrists again so you can't hide your face.
"It's okay, I really like them. Come and sit on my lap again, please?"
Once you realize how you're sitting, you look up at Mark. He's towering over you, and you like that he is looking down at you. "Do you not want me to-"
Mark shakes his head gently. "Not this time. I just need you in the real way right now."
When those words reach your ears, you know you're whipped. Standing and stepping out of the jeans pooled beneath you, you clamour back onto Mark's lap. Instantly he's back to kissing you, his hands now freely roaming up the sides of your body, softly. Like in your dream.
Before Mark can take off your shirt, you both began pressing harder against each other, causing you to moan into the kiss. It felt good to feel his clothed cock over your panties, one less layer preventing complete feeling.
"Fuck, I wanted to drag this out," Mark says in between kisses that are growing in intensity, "I can almost feel how wet you are and my pants are still on,"
"Take them off, please?" You ask, borderline begging. Mark smiles up at you and doesn't hesitate in complying. You balance on your knees with your hands on Mark's chest as he slides his hands between you both to unbutton and wriggle out of his pants, bringing his boxers with them. Once his cock is free, it sits flush and hard against his abdomen. You find yourself unable to peel your eyes away from it.
"Like what you see?" He jokes, gripping the shaft and moaning once he gives it a couple strong tugs. "Fuck, need you.."
"Mm," you're barely able to form a response, especially when Mark hooks his fingers against your shirt, coaxing you to lift up your arms and allow it to slide off. Next is your bra, and you help him unclip the back as he presses soft kisses to the swell of your breasts.
"God, you're beautiful, I'm so glad I have you," Mark then takes your hands to lace your fingers with his. Slowly you sink your body back down to rest against his cock, moving your hips ever so slightly, sliding the fabric of your panties against his bare member.
"Mark," you whimper, thrusting forward a little stronger. "I really want you to…"
"To what?" Mark asked, his voice husky and his pupils blown with lust. His lips meet yours one more time.
"Fuck me, please,"
Mark licks his lips and groans. "Just wait a little, gotta make sure.." he lets go of your hands, leaving them to rest again on his shoulders. His own trail down your sides, causing you to squirm and whimper at the touch, your skin incredibly sensitive. He soon takes a hold of your panties, sliding them down your legs. "Fuck, look, it's sticking to your underwear, that's so hot…"
You look down, and you notice a tiny string of wetness still attached to your underwear. You almost want to hide your face in the crook of Mark's shoulder, but instead, he coaxes you to stand long enough to rid your legs of your panties.
"Look at you," he whispers, making you acutely aware that you're completely naked in front of him. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," you look him in the eye, straddling his lap once more and leaning against him for a quick and intimate hug. "I've just never been naked in front of anyone before."
"Me neither, it's okay," he says softly. "Can I touch you?"
"Yes," you suck in a sharp breath as Mark trails a finger down your stomach. As soon as he reaches your crotch, you feel like you could explode into flames. You think this is the first time Mark has really hesitated, but you're fine with it.
"Like this," you say softly, using your hand to guide his. Gathering some wetness on his fingers, you guide him to rub a few tiny circles on your clit before you let him take over.
"Good?" He asks, continuing the movement until you nod, sighing. It felt amazing that you were finally getting to some relief of the ache that's been building inside your abdomen. Soon there's another jolt of pleasure running through you as Mark slips a finger inside you.
"Fuck, Mark," you whine, pressing your forehead to his. You can feel his breath on you, ghosting your lips against his own. Once Mark adds a second finger, you feel like his soft movements could make you cum right then and there. He's fucking you ever so slowly with his fingers that you could nearly call it torture. "Please, I think… I think I'm ready,"
"O-okay," Mark stutters for a moment, and it feels just as good when his fingers slip out. "We can go slow, right?"
"Any way you want," you answer, pecking his lips again.
"Okay," he sighs sweetly, guiding your hips downward with one hand and lining himself up with the other. "God, I can already feel it," he whines, feeling the tip of his leaking cock nudging your entrance. "Better than what I dreamed."
Ever so slowly, you're sinking down onto him. There's a bit of a stretch and a little bit of pain, but you work through it as best you can. Mark is clenching his jaw, eyes shut tightly. His hands are gripping your hips hard enough to bruise, and his breathing has picked up to wanton panting.
"Fuck, fuck, (Y/N), this is so good, it feels so good to be inside," His words cause you to pulse around him, making you both cry out. Without warning Mark's hips snap upward, his voice slowly groaning out more curse words, following your cry of surprise. "Fuck, I'm sorry, are you okay?"
You wince but nod at him once he opens his eyes. "Yeah, I'm okay. I think. I think we can move."
"Okay. I want to fuck you, is that alright?"
You nod, your face burning. You brace yourself, hands balancing on the back of the couch and gripping the soft blanket. When Mark starts to move, you can hear your wetness squelching and his accompanying quiet moans of 'fuck, that's hot.' Mark leans forward, his arms coming to broadly trap you in a hug as he slowly thrusts upward to meet with your pelvis. He presses wanton and open-mouthed kisses to your neck, and you can feel him smiling faintly every time you say his name.
You know for sure that you've quickly given up most of your ability to hold yourself up. Even though you're full of energy and are being consumed by a swirl of wanton feelings, the constant build of pleasure in your abdomen and the contracting of your pussy around Mark every time any noise came out of him left you feeling like a ragdoll. Mark is holding you up through his hug, and because of how your chests are squished together, you can feel him breathe.
"Mark," you managed to cry out once his slow thrusts began to grow faster and more needy, "Mark, I'm close,"
"Please tell me you're gonna cum first, fuck, (Y/N), please cum first!" Mark is losing his rhythm now, crying out stuttered moans between his begging for you to cum.
"Mark, don't stop, please… I'm gonna cum," You're unable to feel embarrassment from the obscenities leaving your mouth as the pressure that's been building inside you reaches its peak, your pussy rapidly pulsing around Mark's cock. Your eyes are rolling back as clear ecstasy washes over you, sharp spikes of pleasure eventually dulling.
"Fuck, tight, need more, fuck! Fuck, (Y/N), I'm gonna cum too, fuck, I'm cumming!" You're nearly about to begin whimpering from overstimulation before you feel Mark's cock still. It hardened even further, twitching inside of you and following it was the warmth of his cum.
Slowly, you both come down to reality, Mark gently kissing your neck as you lay nearly limp on him, his fingers tracing delicate patterns on your back. There is a clear sheen of sweat between you, and soon it becomes a little uncomfortable.
"Hey, do you think you can sit up? I need to get some stuff to get you clean," Mark's voice is calm and sweet, if not still a little ragged.
"I think so," you manage to answer, trying your best to balance again on your knees, your whole body starting to tremble. Mark's softening cock slides out, a dollop of his cum following. Somehow, you feel less complete without him there.
"Let me help," Mark says softly, gently guiding you to lay down on the couch. Once he knows you're comfortable, he pulls on his boxers and wanders to the counter.
You're watching him with hooded eyes as he reaches into one of the cupboards, pulling out a small pack of baby wipes, following with dampening two of the washcloths in the sink.
"I got these on the way back last night and that's how Johnny figured out what I wanted," he said sheepishly as he came back to you, kissing you softly before kneeling down and opening up the little packet. "He had the idea of bringing that blanket."
"I really didn't expect that to happen," you say, taking in a sharp breath when you feel coolness over your thighs as Mark cleans you up. "Thank you."
"Anything for you," he said, passing you the damp washcloth. "Just so we both don't look like we just had sex."
You nod, taking the cloth and dabbing it over your forehead and chest. Once your fatigue begins to fade, you sit up and watch Mark sitting cross-legged on the floor, wiping away the layer of sweat from his chest. His eyes meet yours, and the way he smiles at you makes you tear up.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Mark immediately looks concerned, standing and taking a seat next to you. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, of course," you wipe a tear away with your hand, "I just really love you." In that moment you feel more vulnerable than you ever had in your life. Naked, scarred and crying in front of your soulmate.
Mark's smile returns quickly, pecking a quick kiss to your cheek. "I love you, too, (Y/N)." His eyes are sparkling again, something that makes your heart ache even more, but in a good way. "Come on, let's get you dressed."
Soon he is standing again, coaxing you to join him. He helps you slip your underwear back on, making an idle comment and bearing a giant grin when he realizes that there really are Avengers characters on the butt of your panties.
Mark takes extra care in making sure you were comfortable and your bra was sitting properly on your chest. He blew raspberries on your tummy, grinning as you laughed. Honestly, the thought that should have been in your mind was completely dismissed in the sweet moments of Mark helping you get dressed.
"Now I'm hungry," you say as you finish putting on your shortalls, laughter on your lips, pretending to pout at Mark as he slips on his shirt, tucking it tightly back into his pants.
Mark nods, "yeah, me too. We can get some food in the green room. Here, you have a twisty strap," Mark approaches you once more and unclips one of your overall buttons, straightening out the strap and smoothing it along your shoulder. "There, all better."
"Thank you," you look back over the room, noticing a backpack that wasn't yours sitting next to the couch. "Is that yours?"
Mark nodded. "Yeah. After the show, I'm gonna come back here to grab it. I just have to fold the blanket and put away the washcloths."
"I can help you," you say, turning around go grab the blanket and fold it, but Mark gently takes your hand to stop you once you try to reach for the backpack to stuff it inside.
"It's okay, you can help me after. We should get something to eat now," Mark is smiling fondly at you, nodding toward the door. Huffing a tiny sigh you agree, putting the folded blanket down on the couch and following him to slip on your shoes, grab your lanyard and backpack, heading out the door.
[11:30 PM]
You looked up at the ceiling of your room, listening to the harsh rain plummet onto the roof above you, assaulting the window that was across from your bed, streaming with raindrops, like tears.
"Remember when we used to go outside and just watch the summer rain from the porch?" Your companion didn't sound cheerful at all. Not that you could blame him.
You nodded, even though you knew he couldn't see you. "Mark liked to go out and dance in it, it was funny to watch him try and convince everyone to join him."
Johnny slid his hand through the sheets to take yours. "I miss them."
You frowned. Losing Taeil, Mark, Taeyong, Jeno, Jungwoo, Yuta, Jisung and Sicheng in the decimation made every memory painful, even if that day was originally happy. All of you eventually were soaked in the warm summer rain when Mark finally convinced you to join him. It felt refreshing and fun to just let go and not care about your clothes sticking to you and dripping with water. Now, the thought of it just seemed hollow.
Johnny spent that evening helping you dry off, playfully ruffling your hair with a towel. You licked your lips, sighing through your nose and turning your head against your pillow to look at Johnny through what little light shone over him from the alarm clock on your nightstand.
"I miss them too. I feel like part of me left with them."
Johnny nodded. "You know, the rain still is pretty strong. It's probably warm out, wanna go outside?"
You almost laughed, blinking away forming tears. "In our pyjamas?"
"Why not?"
That was when you found yourself sitting under the canopy of your backyard deck with Johnny, watching the rainfall. The air smelled clean and clear, warm and inviting despite how hard the droplets of water fell. You looked up at Johnny with tears in your eyes when he stood, holding his hand out to you.
Without a word you joined him, content to stand in the rain, holding each other, remembering the days where you would play in the storm with your friends.
