at those times, we remember that queerness is not about the labels, or the definitions, or the rules of expected behaviour, but about living authentically to the crooked strangeness of our human conditions

Nope.

People who make these blanket statements are very frequently proven wrong when the creator comes out as a member of that group. And even when they aren't proven wrong, even in cases where the creator isn't from the group in question, actual members of the group who don't fit whatever arbitrary criteria are being expressed will see these statements and feel excluded and erased.

Not everyone in your group is going to share your experiences. No single individual gets to personally decide what does or doesn't count as a "valid" expression of trauma or being part of a particular group, and creators are also not obligated to out themselves in order to "prove" their validity.

If something doesn't resonate with you, all that means is that it doesn't resonate with you. You don't have to like it. But you don't get to decide what it means to someone else.

Loving the new counterpoint that not only is posting activism, not posting is complicity. Why doesn't everyone with any fame or internet presence immediately release a lengthy but perfectly-worded statement telling us where they stand on every issue? Is it because they're evil??? It must be because they're evil

And then the usual answer is "they don't post online very much". Which is all very suspicious, don't they know everything of importance is done by posts on social media now

#and these people who are LOUD about posting = activism are mostly Westerners who only learn about the whole issue LAST YEAR #conveniently forgetting that there are people from countries who have always traditionally been supportive ofc #but no please praise my western arse for posting about it in fandom spaces 🥹🥹 #i was there when people who were usually so far up their arse about social issues were still happily celebrating fucking eurovision #which i have refused to watch or even talk about on principle FOR YEARS #and now the same people are trying to lecture us about how to *show* how much we care? #piss off :-)

I think that they could have saved a lot of time and frustration on Voyager if someone had taken Seven of Nine aside and explained that politeness actually was a more efficient way to communicate with humans because it's the formatting that they're conditioned to expect.
