i wish kate nothing but a swift recovery and that she'll be permanently cancer free as soon as possible. cancer is a very, very difficult illness not just for the person itself but for their family. so i wish william and the kids as well as her family, well too. that said, their communications was nothing but shit from the beginning. it's what allowed the conspiracies to flourish. they had a playbook on how to deal with a senior royal having cancer (charles) and they still fucked it up. so i hope people (including their stans) realise and accept that. if they had been a little more open, the speculation could have been reduced. you can wish kate well but also admit her staff failed. you can say she deserves medical privacy (which i agree too) but also say a little openness would have perhaps prevented wilder speculation.

Yes, Kate organizing the program and then playing the piano in front of a packed Westminster Abbey for a Christmas carol service while being televised, that’s just a small achievement. 🙄 Raising three children while being in the public eye? Easy peasy. Being diplomatic and raising so much awareness about early childhood development and mental health? Piece of cake.

What tangible work did Meghan do during her 72 days of being a working royal?

One of my fave people in the world who I met by happenstance on a flight organized a massive vigil for victims of gun violence attended by major political leaders. She was a single mom and worked two jobs at one point.

So no, I don’t think Kate organizing a nice concert is a big deal in and of itself. If you cared to, you could see where I even complimented Kate on the service and her passable piano skills and said it was a smart way to build her hearth and home brand. But do I think it’s exceptional? No. Nor is her raising kids anymore exceptional than any mom who does it. Care work is work but Kate doing it with all the help she has is not exceptional. And I would the same about Meghan.

Finally, I am laughing that you think that simply saying “ I am keen to shine a line on early years” every 3-5 months is meaningful work. While the early years needs funding and support desperately Kate isn’t doing anything to address that material need. She did with the baby bank drive—funny how I could name that as a solid example but you couldn’t. Drives home my point I think.

As for Meghan, she released Together in she first three months as a royal and went on a mini tour of Ireland and a major Oceania tour. Together had measurable impact that is still being felt to this day, btw.

about the hammas attack - yes i did. as far as celebrity statements go, it wasn't as bad as noah schnapp's but it was also not good. there should have been a stronger condemnation of violence as well as a mention of palestine. as a statement, it feels very generic - you could substitute israel with the word ukraine and it can easily turn it into a statement condemning the russia-ukraine war. many fans are disappointed and for completely understandable reasons. and i do share the sentiment that they should have just stayed out of this if they weren't going to give a stronger statement condemning violence as well as the destruction of gaza.
