hey i was rereading your about before i reread some of ajf and as a theater maker (props manager and designer specifically), i was wondering if you can tell me a little about the process of moving away from entertainment and going to grad school for something in a different field (sorry if this doesn’t make sense im running on 3 hrs of sleep)

Hey! Yeah of course!

Theatre and entertainment as industries have so many applicable skills to so many things. We’re often asked to perform miracles under time crunches and huge budget constraints, work dangerous and long hours, and manage challenging personalities all under the pressure of what is essentially, a huge corporate project. There are so many directions to go!

My masters is in the security and intelligence field and as a former stage manager, I relied on my unorthodox background and adaptability as a selling point. Every industry can benefit from having diverse perspectives, especially in fields where analysis is the name of the game.

Most masters programs do not require previous study or experience in the field. If they do, you can always reach out to the program department head or coordinator to see what you need to do to get where you want to go. My program was super helpful, as it’s a broad masters at a large university, so having only a hobbyist’s background wasn’t a problem. In fact, they loved it!

Let me know if there’s anything more specific you might want to know! It’s totally doable and I had a lot of fun switching career paths!

ok i don’t what to believe in regards to requests being open or closed but i will share any way bc i’ve been thinking abt it: i was rereading meraki from ajf and hotch’s line about missing the reader more than ever except for maybe pakistan had me thinking about how lovely a chapter on aaron’s pov of pakistan and his feelings. i know we literally get nothing from the show but that also means you can make some shit up ! i wanna see more hotch pining but. tis just a suggestion. love ya author !
