Read part one here.
When you arrived back at Alexandria, Daryl wasn’t best pleased when he saw you with Negan. In fact that night he gave you a lecture on how you should have found a way to tell him. You could barely even think for yourself that night, all you could think about was what Negan had said to you but you realised quickly that it was a dangerous territory for you to be in. You had come to the conclusion that you wouldn’t put yourself in a situation like that again, you’d do your very best to stay clear of the ex leader.
Michonne had taken it upon herself to join Daryl in a hunt leaving you with babysitting duties, Judith had gone off to work on her homework and RJ seemed content playing in the street, you watched him dance around the street giggling at the story he had made up in his head from the kitchen window, it was the first time since the hoard that you felt at ease. You turned away for just a second to place down your empty glass and when you returned to the window, RJ was much further down the road crying. It looked like he had fallen over and hurt himself which only panicked you, you took off running out of the house and in his direction.
Before you made it to RJ’s side you noticed the very man you had been avoiding bent down by his side, making the child smile and forget about the scrap on his knee. You could feel all the muscles in your body tense as you slowed your pace, your heart was racing as you made your way to the boy’s side. You noticed Negan rubbing his hand over the graze that now occupied the child’s skin reminding him it was nothing and just a bump. He managed to calm RJ down completely as you bent over to check on him. “What happened buddy?” your voice was soft and calm as you reached your arms out to the boy, instantly he clung onto you in the form of a hug.
“Little fella just had a fall” Negan now spoke, nudging RJ gently before sending him a wink “but you’re alright now, aren’t ya?” RJ seemingly turned shy and nodded at the question.
Your head only seemed to grow foggier as you watched the way Negan interacted with the toddler, your heart seemed to swell at the sight “Thank you” you whispered to the tall man as you both rose to your feet. He shrugged off your appreciation as if his actions didn’t require a thanks. “You know its cheating when you use the kids too get me to forgive you” though you passed it as a joke, you felt it fully, you couldn’t believe a simple act of kindness towards a child would almost make you forget the torture you endured at the hands of the man. Negan simply laughed at your words allowing his tongue to guide his bottom lip between his teeth. You looked down at RJ letting him back down on his feet now that he seemed confident enough to brave walking again. “Thank you, again” your eyes now met with Negan’s again and he sent you a sincere smile. You’re not sure why but you stood on the tips of your toes and gave him a small kiss on his cheek and turned away from him following RJ back down the street. You instantly regretted your actions, a moment of weakness on your behalf only confirmed Negan’s plans to win back your heart were slowly working.
You gave it a lot of thought and now that Daryl had gone to Hilltop to help out some more up there, you decided to give Negan the benefit of the doubt. You told Gabriel you were willing to take your share of shifts on ‘Negan watch’ though you weren’t fully ready to forgive him for what he had done, he had proven his willingness to change and that seemed like enough to build some sort of friendship with him and start your healing process.
The shifts went well, not once did he ever say anything out of place or make you feel uncomfortable. He’d ask you about your day and offer you a joke about his, you got on fairly well for the first two days. You had mentioned to him that Judith was struggling with her math work and he offered to help with your supervision. You’d take her to the cell and let her ask him questions and laugh whenever she responded to him with nothing but pure sass. When she had finally had enough of her work, Judith took off leaving you alone with Negan.
You unlocked his cell door and asked him to hold out his hands so you could shackle him. “Thank you for that '' you giggled, taking his hands in yours and clasping the handcuffs on. You were taken back slightly when your skin touched his but you didn’t let it show.
“She sure has an attitude” he allowed a chuckle of his own pass as he looked down at you, your eyes slowly met with his and it caused instant tension. It confused you how he still had such a hold on your heart despite all the horrible things he put you through. You barley noticed his eyes flickering between your gaze and your lips. When he slowly lowered his head that when you pulled away, pushing on his chest a little to make him stand further back into his cell.
“What the fuck!” you shouted in his direction, your breathing seemed to become short as you tried to piece together what just happened.
“Im sorry, I thought-“ you cut him off instantly, the anger quickly bubbling to the surface.
“You thought what? You thought that just because you helped a kid with their math homework I'm gonna instantly forget what you did to me?” He hung his head in shame as you scolded him. “You can’t just pull that shit! It’s not fair! Every time I see you, there’s always some new attempt to get me to forgive you but it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter how much I love you, it's never going to change the fact that you broke me. I can’t trust you” tears now streamed down your face like a constant flowing body of water.
“I’ll never stop” Negan shouted back at you, your face starting to crease as he spoke. “I won't stop until I make it right, until I make it up to you. You’re the only thing that matters now.” His words managed to take away your ability to breathe. Your stomach felt as though there was a large pit that occupied it, shaking your head you turned away from him and ran out of the room, ignoring any stares you seemed to attract as you made your way down the street. You tried your best to mask the emotion that spilled from your eyes but the wet tracks on your face gave you away.
You found yourself sitting in one of the newer buildings, people often gathered there for prayer and though your faith had been tested by the new world, you seemed drawn to it. You sat on one of the many chairs available and admired the woodwork of the beams that supported the room, you thought you were alone until you heard footsteps creeping up behind you. You turned to meet their maker and were met with the priest himself, you gave him a soft smile before turning your attention back to the beams. “I can’t remember the last time I saw you in here” Gabriel’s words were soft as he pulled up a seat next to you, you let a breathy laugh pass as you let your head hang a little “something on your mind?” what wasn’t on your mind, you looked over at the man sending him an obvious look.
“You could say that” you joked back pressing your lips into a thin line. “I'm not much of a believer but I think only a higher power can help me with the situation I find myself in” you sighed to further prove the stress you felt. Gabriel let a small smile creep onto his lips before placing his hand on your shoulder and just like that you let everything out, you explained your situation with Negan and how confused you felt by his recent pass. You’re not sure how Gabriel made you feel safe enough to trust him with your honesty but he did and he did it well.
He allowed the information to settle for a moment before a sigh of his own passed his lips “anyone who is given the chance can change” you weren’t convinced of his words, you knew people could change but you also knew that once someone had crossed a line, there was no going back and you were sure Negan crossed the line long ago. “You and I both know that a second chance can go a long way, maybe Negan deserves one too but only you can decide that '' Gabriel left you to your own thoughts after that, he figured he helped as much as he could. You stayed in your seat for a while thinking over the new advice you had been given, tears seemed to cloud your eyesight as you grew closer to your conclusion. Eventually you allowed yourself to leave the building, even though you weren’t fully convinced of your decision you made your way in the direction of Negan’s cell.
Negan was laid on his bed, staring up at the concrete wall when you made your way back into the room. He instantly pulled himself from the bed and made his way to the bars, he opened his mouth to talk but you cut him off before he had chance “I thought about, about you” at first your words came out as whisper, you seemed shy as you kept yourself close to the door but the way he looked at you in that moment made you sure this was the right decision. “I’m not sure how it will work, I mean your in prison for crying out loud” you bit down on your lip as you allowed your eyes to meet finally “but I can't deny it anymore, I’ve tried to fight it, to bury it so deep that it can't resurface but it always does. I don’t know why after the shit you put me through but I do, I love you” you tried to disguise the crack in your voice but it at that point it didn’t matter, your feelings were now stripped bare and you felt naked as you stood before him. “I'm willing to at least try put it behind me, give you a second chance but if you do as much as put a toe out of line in anyway, I’ll make sure they keep you locked in this cell until you die” You stood your ground and did your best to stay stern but the wobble of your chin gave away your nerves.
Negan didn’t say a word he just nodded waiting for you to finish your speech but he still didn’t have a word to say. The room fell silent after that, you watched the former leader with tears in your eyes, noting how desperate he looked as he waited by the door of his cell for you. You were slow with putting the key in the lock and once you heard the sound that signalled it had unlocked your eyes met with his again, slowly you pulled back the metal bars until even he couldn’t take it anymore. He pushed through the bars and his hands engulfed your face, your heart felt like it was on fire when he touched you, your eyes flickered slightly at the pure euphoria your skin felt against his. It wasn’t long until his lips were entangled with yours, the way he attacked your lips like there was nothing else he wanted more made you let out a soft moan. It was like music to his ears. You allowed your hands to find the back of his neck as he let his hands slowly fall down your body and wrap around you to bring you closer to him. As he slowly pulled away from you, your eyes started to well up again. You pressed your head against his chest your hands clutching onto the fabric of his shirt “please don’t break me again”

You followed behind Daryl as he grunted and groaned making his way through the forest. You were making your way to Hilltop after deciding that would be the best place for you now you were nearing the end of your pregnancy, of course you went by car but the damn thing broke down half way. You had never felt so unfit before as you slugged behind the archer, your hand propping your stomach up to relieve some of the weight that seemed to be holding you back until your body had enough of walking. You propped yourself up against a tree and begged Daryl for a five minute rest. He laid down a blanket on top of the messy forest floor, giving you somewhere clean to sit down if you felt you needed to. You both took this time to get a well deserved drink from your canteen and you allowed a satisfied sigh pass your lips as the cool water eased your throat.
You watched with a smirk on your face as the father of your child paced back and forth before pushing yourself from the tree and then it happened. Your cervix felt like they were being attacked by a vice and the sensation of a warm liquid ran fast and hard down your legs. “Shit!” you whispered, turning back to the tree for support. Daryl hadn’t noticed what was happening nor did he hear you cuss, he was far too entrapped in his own thought process of how to get you to the hilltop and quick before anything bad happened. “Daryl!” you shouted out, your palms rested against the tree trunk as you practiced the breathing methods Michonne had told you about before you left. The pain subsided for a moment but the panic had already set in, you tried to turn to face the archer until another wave of contractions attacked your pelvis.
“Daryl” it was more of a scream this time and seemed to catch the archers attention instantly, jogging over to you with wide eyes, not entirely sure of what was happening. He placed his hand on your back before leaning slightly to catch your gaze.
“Wha’s happenin?” the panic in his face would have made you burst into a fit of laughter if you weren’t currently being tortured by your own body.
“What the fuck do you think!” you spat at the man, the pain slowly coming to an end allowing you to replace the trunk of the tree with Daryl’s shoulders, your hands were able to grip onto them much better
“Can’t ya just – hold It in. We’re almost at hilltop” you shot the man a look and he knew instantly to shut up. He had seen some scary scene before but nothing quite compared to the look you gave him.
Daryl tried his hardest to remain calm but the sweat that dripped from his pale face as he laid you down on the blanket told you a completely different story. He was petrified and if you allowed yourself to be honest, you were too. Some of the twigs that the blanket laid on top off poked up into your back but the pain that kept coming and going didn’t allow your mind to register much of anything else. You didn’t even realise that Daryl had taken off your pants until you looked down at your legs. “Shit, the baby’s not waiting!” you called out, feeling the pressure against your delicates. Daryl could barely think straight, you tried to guide him the best you could but now he was on his own, you needed to push and he needed to deliver this baby on his own.
He’d tell you to breathe and push as he winced at the scene that was playing out between your legs. He couldn’t believe Rick told him this was a beautiful, magical moment, it was non of the above right now. When he saw the head of the baby finally push through, it was like he went on autopilot. He cradled the head and helped you as you pushed, guiding the body until finally his baby was born. It turned out Rick wasn’t lying after all. As he held his child in his arms, he couldn’t take his eyes from him, his heart had never felt so full before and though he thought it wasn’t possible the love he held for you just grew higher and higher as he counted the tiny fingers and toes of his baby boy. “Told ya it was a boy!” as he brought your baby to your level so you could finally set eyes on him for the first time.
Your eyes instantly started to glaze over as your son was presented to you, a small laugh passing your lips as he cried signalling that they had successfully delivered a healthy baby but your laughter was cut short as your cervix seemed to twitch again. Shit. Daryl wrapped your son up in a blanket after wiping away some of the goo that stuck to his skin. “Daryl, I don’t think we're finished” instantly the archers head snapped to face you, not fully believing what he had just heard. Again, panic had set it. He looked around the ground finding a safe place to put his son down before going back to his original position between your legs. He squeezed your knees when he finally understood what was happening. The world seemed to go fuzzy for a second and the archer scrambled to get better balance.
You didn’t waste any time, the pain and pressure telling you that you needed to push was overbearing and so you did as you body asked, barely giving Daryl time to come around. He did his best and followed the same formula he used for the arrival for his son until yet another baby was cradled into his arms. A tear fell down his cheek as he looked down at the baby in his arms, occasionally he’d look over at the first born to make sure he was okay before he handed over your child to you.
You scooped the newborn into your arms, you too were crying as you cooed at the baby “a girl” you whispered and you were sure you heard the archer hum with joy at your words. You looked to your side to find Daryl holding his son in his arms, looking back down at you. A small laugh passed your lips as you allowed your mind to go over what had just happened, you knew that everyone would get a kick out of hearing a story where Daryl Dixon, the man who isn’t scared of anything, almost passed out at the sight of his child being born.
Despite all the pain, despite the panic you were convinced it was all worth it just for this moment. Your head rested against Daryl’s shoulder, the two of you in awe at love you held in your heart for two very small beings. You knew this is what they meant when they said love at first sight. Daryl felt it too as he watched his children squirm around in their blankets. He made a promise that he would never let anything bad happen to them, he promised them he would give them everything and anything they wanted and they would never have to grow up the way he did. He promised to give them all the love in the world and then some. He never said them aloud but he meant every word, that was his new purpose in life. He looked down at you, his heart felt like it was going to explode when he saw the way you looked at your daughter. He leant down slightly and placed a soft kiss on your forehead “a love ya”

Two Left Feet (Daryl Dixon/Reader)
Prompt: “I’ve done some crazy shit just to make you look my way.” Requested by anonymous, numbers #5 and #30 from this post.
Summary: You give Daryl Dixon dancing lessons.
A noise startled you awake. At first, you weren’t sure whether you were still dreaming, but then another loud clank sounded from downstairs. You bolted upright, hearing more thuds travel through the walls.
“Daryl-” you whispered, feeling the bed next to you as you tried to wake the man.
Except, your hand felt nothing but the empty spans of linen sheets, until your fingers finally brushed up against his abandoned pillow. You glanced over, your eyes still not adjusted. Yet, even in the dark you could tell that Daryl wasn’t there like he usually was, and you realised that you were in bed completely alone.

Master list of Chapters.
Daryl only spent a few days in the Greene household, not wanting to stay in the house for much longer he decided that now he had enough energy to move he’d leave and give Patricia her room back. Before he had a chance to pick himself off the bed, Carol had come charging into the room with breakfast for the archer claiming he needed to eat to regain his strength, she’d sit on the corner of the bed and make sure he ate and catch him up on what was going on beyond his four walls. He thanked her for the food and threw the crust of his sandwich she had made back down onto the plate. She gave him a stern look which caused the southerner to pick the crust backup and reluctantly take a couple of bites.
“I can’t take all the credit” Carol admitted, leaning back on the bed frame, Daryl just sent her a confused look which only resulted in her smiling at the clueless archer. “Y/N has been coming in to check up on you, she even put clean bandages on you yesterday, when you were passed out” she couldn’t quite shake the smirk that lingered on her lips as she boasted about your work to him, she was sure that his cheeks flushed a subtle pink at the mention of your name.
Once he had cleared his plate, Daryl was able to leave the room and head outdoors stumbling from the door frame as he made his way down the stairs of the porch. You were talking with T-Dog about going back out to search for Sophia when the clumsy clatter took your attention away. It didn’t take you long to realise it was Daryl and as if it was instinct you ran towards the wounded man. “Woah there Bambi” your joke seemed to fall on deaf ears as you reached out for his arm, guiding it around your shoulders as you offered yourself as a crutch.
“a don’t need no help” he grunted, yet his arm still remained fixed on your shoulders.
“Of course ya don’t” your eyes rolled at his ridiculous claim as you slowly helped him back to his tent.
As soon as you arrived the archer pulled away from you, feeling slightly embarrassed by needing your help. He watched you for a moment while you knelt next to his fire pit, fixing its imperfections. He watched you carefully for a moment, watching you rebuild the stone wall around his fallen pit, his eyes seemed to wonder a little too much for his own liking so he cleared his throat and turned towards his tent “Im gonna do a quick perimeter search, maybe find something for food but I won't be long” he looked back over his shoulder at you, shaking his head at your words.
“a don’t need no babysitter” he grunted and you responded with a scoff, you pushed yourself back to your feet now that you had rearranged the rocks to your liking and brushed the dust from your hands
“Neither did I” you seemed so nonchalant as you sent the injured man a smile before making your way to your own tent to collect your things.
The rest of the day, Daryl never left his tent, the only time you’d see him was when you’d force your way in to make him eat or drink. He seemed far to indulged in his own thoughts, he started with where he could search for Sophia which slowly lead to figuring out where to even start looking for Merle, not really knowing if he actually wanted to look for his brother until finally his thoughts settled on you, trying to wrap his head around the idea of you. He didn’t quite understand why you insisted on being around him, everyone else seemed to keep their distance yet here you were, cleaning his bandages, fixing his fire, offering to search for his brother with no other motive other than just to help him.
He tried and tried to clear his mind, not being able to bare the torture that his mind held him prisoner to and eventually he would fall in and out of sleep, only waking when you’d pop your head in and offer him essentials.
Your routine seemed to be the same for the next couple of days, small searches nearby for Sophia then straight back to tend to the stubborn archer. You needed to break up your day a little better so instead of piling firewood at Daryl’s camp, you made your way to the Greene’s home, you’d felt a little guilty not spending as much time with them now you’d moved into the yard and with Carl being injured but with Carl all better and back with the rest of the group, you figured the sisters may have time for a catch up to ease your guilt.
You pushed through the door and found the girl’s gathered in the kitchen, you kept quiet as you eavesdropped on their conversation, they were drying the dishes while Maggie told Beth about her secret hook-ups with Glenn. You allowed your jaw to drop at the news that fell onto your creeping ears, a small scoff cleared your throat. It made Maggie jump, almost dropping her plate as she turned to face you, Beth just giggled at the expression on your face before her sister sent her a look. “You’ve been doing the dirty with Glenn!” The elder sister scolded you for how loud your statement was, shushing you as she looked around for anyone else that could be listening in. You took a few steps closer to the sister, leaning against the counter with an amused look plastered across your face.
“A don't know how you can tease me when you’ve been shacked up with that Dixon fella!” You could always tell she was embarrassed when her accent thickens but her words made your eyes roll.
“Please, barley shacking up. I feed him and that's about as far as that relationship goes.”
“Do you want it to go further?” Maggie teased poking your side a little, you scrunch your face up a little at her assumptions.
“Oh shut up” you pushed back, finally both sisters let out a hearty giggle after teasing you about your friendship with Daryl. “So - when you next seeing him?” Maggie just shook her head and continued with her chores.
“Not sure, we got into a bit of an argument last night” You gave a look to Beth and she simply shrugged, turning away to put back the dishes in the cupboards.
You watched the girls clean and put away the dishes, not bring her domestic with Glenn up again though you secretly cussed Maggie for being so vague, she knew you’d never pry her for an explanation and she used that knowledge to good use today. After a couple of hours talking to the sisters you figured you needed to get back to your normal routine and gave them both a tight hug before making your way back to Daryl. You noticed movement in his camp and picked up speed, the closer you got the more recognisable the figure was - you laughed to yourself as you watched Daryl inspect the work you had done on his camp fire. Before you even got half way across the field, your attention was claimed by the familiar yelling that belonged to your brother
You ran towards the noise, every bad scenario you could think of ran through your mind as you closed in on the closed barn, almost everyone had surrounded the area and when you came to a slow stop, everyone’s eyes seemed to land on you “what the fuck is going on?” you looked around but everyone you looked to fell silent, all except Shane.
“Did you know about this?” His voice seemed horse as he pointed in your direction, his yelling must have taken a toll on his throat. You looked back at him, your features creased as you shook your head
“Know about what, what the fuck are you talking about?” you were seriously confused at this point, no one seemed to answer your questions, you looked behind your shoulder at Maggie but she couldn’t look you in the eyes, her head hung low letting her tears drop on the sand beside her feet. It was at that moment, you heard the groaning of the dead, your head snapped back instantly, your eyes widened as you saw a decomposing hand reach through the small crack in the door Shane had made before you showed up.
“don’t fucking lie to me, did you know about this” your brother repeated, taking a step forward so you could hear him clearly. Despite your questions being answered you were just as confused as before, you aggressively shook your head at him before your eyes met with his.
“No of course not” he seemed to take your word and instantly turned back to the shed and started hammering at the locks. You felt someone softly tap your shoulder, it was Andrea and she offered you a handgun which you took and stood between Daryl and T-Dog and aimed your pistol at the doors of the barn.
You heard Rick’s shouting from a distance, screaming for you all to stop but none of you did. As soon as the walkers started to leave the barn you started shooting, you never missed a shot always planting a bullet in their skull’s. Once you felt the barn was cleared you threw your gun to the ground, your breathing became difficult as the scene fell silent. You couldn’t bare making eye contact with anyone, your head dropped as you attempted to hold in your emotions but the silence was cut short, the sound of dead started to play again. Your eyes slowly rose in the direction of the shed, waiting to see what horror would appear from its doors. A former shell of a little girl made her appearance, your heart dropped slightly, she couldn’t be any older than Carl. Your mind started racing when you didn’t hear anyone’s gun go off, putting the poor girl out of her misery, you watched as the small figure made their way slowly towards the group. Your suspicions were confirmed when Carol’s blood curdling cries tore a whole in your heart. It was Sophia.
You watched Daryl stop Carol from getting closer, taking her to the ground and even you couldn’t hold back your tears. You had to turn away from the scene, letting your fist lay on T-Dog’s shoulder, your forehead resting on top of your knuckles. The man made for a good shield. Your heart felt like it was being pulled apart and you tried your hardest to block Carol’s screams out but to no avail. The sound of a gun finally came and with it came another tear. You pulled away from T-Dog when you saw Carol running back up the field, your eyes immediately coming into contact with Shane’s.
You hated him more than ever now, yet you knew you’d have done the same to protect the people you cared about when you were able to pull away from his gaze, your eyes now following the pattern of the gravel by your feet.

Italics = Flashbacks.
Your heart seemed to break into a million pieces as you walked away from Daryl, after everything that had happened with Negan and now with the loss of Rick you weren’t prepared to lose Daryl Dixon. You clawed at your chest, hoping it would allow you to breathe but it remained stuck as you left the archer there in the middle of the forest. You had never loved someone so deeply before and it scared you, it scared you to the point of running and hiding – you told him it wasn’t safe for them anymore and that even though it wasn’t your time now, it will be one day and you wholeheartedly believed it. The idea that the world will be well enough one day that you could get back your Daryl was the only thing that allowed you to get out of bed in the morning.
Thing’s got too much for you after you and Daryl went your separate ways and therefore you decided that you needed to venture out on your own for a while, perhaps look for Rick’s body or find out where Anne had disappeared. You didn’t have a set objective but you knew you needed the time to yourself. Tara tried to argue it was too dangerous for you to be on your own but failed to take into account the amount of time you had already spent alone out in the woods before meeting the group. Your trip didn’t provide much new information but you felt you had successfully cleared your mind enough to return back to Hilltop. You had been gone for maybe a month or two, you didn’t really keep track of the time but you didn’t think it could have been longer than that.
Once you reached the gate’s it didn’t take long for them to open, the guards seemed more than happy about your return, you gave your horse a stroke, thanking it for returning you back home safe before trotting past the gates. You watched as a few people gathered as you came to a stop, you looked around, happy to be home until your eyes landed on a far to familiar bike. A lump formed in your throat as you tried to redirect your attention, finally pushing yourself to get off the horse. You managed to send faux smiles at everyone who welcomed you home, allowing someone to take your horse to the stable. You looked around at the small crowd of people before returning your attention to Alden who offered you a warm hug. You pulled away and let your hand land on his shoulder. “Where’s Jesus?” your question seemed to strike unwell with Alden, his head dropped slightly before meeting with your gaze.
“He- erm” he struggled to pull together a sentence attempting to keep you updated on the situation at Hilltop, you instantly wished you were back out in the woods blissfully ignorant to the death of your friend. A small tear rolled down your face but you nodded towards the man, acknowledging his words.
You spent the rest of your day in your room, with the news on Jesus and seeing Daryl’s bike you figured that anything beyond your four walls weren’t worth the hassle. No one bothered you all day and you were grateful for that, you cleaned yourself up and got familiar with the comfort of your mattress again. When the sun started to set, you thought you needed to stop moping around, show your face even if its just for a few minutes. Thankfully on your travels you came across a half empty crate of alcohol, a bottle of rum seemed fitting for the situation so you grabbed it by the neck and made your way outside to mingle.
Fires had already started and you seemed to slip into the crowd of people unnoticed, everyone seemed to be in their own little groups or wandering around you unscrewed the cap of the rum and allowed the brown liquid to pour down your throat. You found a quiet spot just off from everyone else but it gave you the perfect view of everyone gathered there that night. Your eyes wandered from person to person until they seemed to freeze. Daryl Dixon. Your heart seemed to crawl up your throat as you watched the man fiddle with his fingers, attempting to master a sign but you didn’t pay much attention to that, instead you admired the way he had aged since you last saw him. Your mind flashing images of a younger archer and you came to the conclusion that he aged perfectly well, you’d giggle to yourself thinking about how he’d always be scared of the age gap you had even though no one else really noticed it nor did they care.
You noticed his smile and then you noticed who he gave it to, you’d never seen her before but you couldn’t disregard her beauty or the way her eyes seemed to shine as she laughed at Daryl’s attempts to communicate with her with his hands. Your heart dropped, it felt like it had completely left your body as you watched the two flirt with each other, your eyes welled up whenever she touched his arms all you could think was how they were your arms and not hers. So caught up with your blind jealousy, you almost didn’t notice that Daryl was now staring right back at you, it made you stumble a little but you shot him a smile before your eyes left him, doing anything you could to keep the tears from leaving your eyes.
The alcohol seemed to help loosen the lump in your throat as you chugged down as much rum as you possibly could before it made you feel sick “Hey” you’d know that gravelly voice anywhere, it sent goose bumps up your arms as you lowered the bottle back to you side, clearing your throat as you looked to your side. Your heart seemed to race at the sight of the archer who stood close by you
“Hey” your voice was much softer as your eyes landed on his shoulders, not brave enough to look into his eyes just yet. The tension could have been cut with a blunt knife, you kicked loose stones under your feet as the southerner struggled to think up a conversation.
“How ya been?” he broke the silence finally with a question he genuinely cared to know, he watched you closely as you scoffed at his words.
“Fine” despite your short temper, you allowed yourself to look into Daryl’s eyes now sending him a faux smile. “Whatta bout you? Saw you getting on nicely with that girl over there, what’s her name?” you hated how bitter you sounded in that moment but it seemed the alcohol had taken over your entire attitude failing to incorporate a filter.
“Connie” Daryl muttered back at you, watching you take yet another sip of your poison. Your eyes widened now you had a name for her face, licking the access rum from your lips.
“She’s pretty” the air fell silent around you both now, you tried to fight every urge to shout and scream that he should be with you and not her.
Eventually you couldn’t hold your tongue anymore, you had far too much liquid confidence supporting your toxic words to even think straight anymore “Does this mean you forgot about me?” despite your intentions your words fell soft as you stared into the crowd of people, your leg shaking a little as you awaited his response but you never got one, instead he just stared at you in disbelief “I always thought that one day we’d get back together you know but I can see that’s not on you agenda” you spat at the man, the anger becoming more apparent with every word. Daryl grunted at your words, his scowl creasing his features.
“Na, ya the one who ended shit!” he became extra expressive with his movements, his finger pointing in your direction as he paced back and forth.
“because it wasn’t safe!” you shouted back in his direction, your face mimicking his “You know what it’s like now as soon as you’re even slightly happy, the thing you love the most is taken from you without warning. I’ve lost too much, I couldn’t lose you too!`` At some point you decided to take a softer approach with your honesty taking a deep breath when you finally split your truth.
The moment fell quiet once more, a tear created a track on your face as you turned away from him you crossed your arms keeping a firm hold on the bottle you babysat all night. “I'm happy you found Connie, you deserve it.” You peeked over your shoulder so that the archer could hear you “I just don’t think I could ever be as happy as I was when I was with you” and with those words you left him there as you made your way back to your room.
When the door closed behind you, you found yourself pressed against the wall beside it, trying your hardest to suppress the tears your eyes held onto. You placed the glass bottle on top of your dresser and attempted to ease your breathing and slow the hard heavy beating of your heart. It seemed to stop completely when you heard someone’s knuckles brush against your door, you stood perfectly still for a moment before you reached for the knob. You slowly pulled it open revealing Daryl stood on the other side, you stared up at him in silence and took in his posture, he seemed a little out of breath, like he had been running which only confused you more. “Me an Connie are jus friends' ' he panted, taking a couple of steps so that he was now fully in your room. You couldn’t deny that your heart seemed to burst with joy at the news but now you were just left completely embarrassed by your outburst. “Ya the only girl for me” you allowed a small chuckle to pass your lips but you wasted no time in wrapping your arms around him, pushing at the back of his neck with your hands to pull him into a soft, sweet kiss. You tried to hide the moan that surfaced as his hands cradled your hips. You were completely weak at his touch, god had you missed the way this felt.
He pulled away slowly, taking in the smile that stretched across your face, allowing a small smile of his own to pierce his stern features “Ya taste like a bar”
“I'm sorry!” you winced attempting to pull away from the redneck but he didn’t allow you, he kept you close and pulled you in tighter when you attempted to leave his grasp.
“Na, I like it”

Daryl Dixon x Reader
The last battle with Negan doesn’t go as it should, with Negan coming on top, and so reader, Daryl’s girlfriend, offers herself as a wife to Negan if he doesn’t kill Daryl or anyone else. Negan accepts, he won’t kill anyone but will take reader as a wife, and he’ll take Daryl and some of the others to the Sanctuary as prisoners, promising not to hurt anyone if reader is one of his wives and the communities work for him.
This has both flashbacks to reader and Daryl’s story since meeting to now, and the present with reader living at the Sanctuary as a wife, trying to keep Daryl and their people safe, and she and the other wives dealing with Negan, plotting… (This is not a Negan x reader fic!)
Warning, there are reader and Negan scenes in this chapter, but to make up for it, there’s also a flashback from when reader and Daryl got together.
Another few days passed, blurring with each other, and though your time with Negan still didn’t feel like routine, and you were pretty sure it’d never feel like that, you felt more and more like you wanted to take advantage of the situation and Negan’s crotch-driven brain like the other wives did…but you still weren’t good at playing him and keeping him happy as they did. Your biggest achievements were that you hadn’t slapped him again and that you hadn’t spat on him, which didn’t count much towards gaining likable points.
Finally, you decided to just go and ask for help. Abby was in the room that she shared with Frankie, while Frankie was in the main room watching one of the DVDs. You went to the room and flopped down next to Abby.
“I want to ask something from Negan,” you blurted out and Abby arched an eyebrow at you.
“What do you need? Maybe I can get it for you.”
“You can’t…” You let out a sigh. “I want to ask him to let my friend out of the cages sometimes.” They had been in there for days and days, they weren’t tortured, but it was pretty awful anyway.
“Pfff…yeah, no, you’re not getting it,” Abby said and you couldn’t even be annoyed. “I mean…don’t be mad. But you agreed to marry him, listen to him, and fuck him, and he doesn’t kill or torture your friends…he’s kept his end of the deal but…you barely keep yours, I’ve seen you just staring at nothing while he talks. We all think on something else while he talks and talks, but we smile and pretend to listen.” Abby chuckled.
“Yeah…yeah, I know…” You murmured…you felt like you had done enough by not snapping at him but you were supposed to pretend to be enraptured by whatever bullshit was he saying, and you…really didn’t feel like it.

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic
For Severance series?
oh erm, that’s a hard one hahahaha!
there’s a whole blood isn’t thicker than water vibe going on right now & obviously I’ve highlighted some pretty toxic relationship traits with reader and Shane so maybe I’m trying to highlight that toxic relationships ain’t just domestic.
Straight in there with the hard hitting questions hahaha!
