What do you make of the rising interest in magick over the past couple of years? It seems like probably around 30-40% of the people that I’ve spoken with, myself included, have found themselves dabbling in it in some manner, ever since around 2020.

Its a lot of things. Declining interest in organized religion, the ever-present creep of modernity and alienation, literary or creative interest, and genuine scholarly interest. And like a hundred other things.

I'm oversimplifying here, but people tend to adopt magical or superstitious beliefs when systems they relied on have failed them. Religion not cutting it? Turn to vitamin supplements and healing crystals.

But recently there's been enough Occult Nonsense in the cultural milieu that there's been a genuine material need for people who study cults and pseudoscience and other occult-adjacent shit like that.

But also, there's serious occultists who treat it as genuine philosophy, and there's juuuiist enough of those guys publishing their work that you can find some genuine wisdom if you know how to look.
