Sammy Cream Pie is our Dog of The Week
Sammy Cream Pie is a one-year-old Mini Dachshund, so named after his English Cream coat. His coloring is so unusual for a Dachshund, that, believe it or not, all of seven people have asked if he was a Golden Retriever. His birthday's coming up, but, unlike a Golden, he'll be staying this small (and mighty). If you see him around town on June 16th, wish him a happy day!

Miss Scarlett in the Library with a book (and a Pekingese).
Only The Dogist aka Elias Weiss Friedman could create such a fabulous picture to promote The Westminster Kennel Club's 145th annual dog show this weekend (June 12 & 13). The dog's name is Jude and the library is in the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, NY.

Happy Earth Day

Remember
Joy Harjo
Remember the sky that you were born under, know each of the star's stories. Remember the moon, know who she is. Remember the sun's birth at dawn, that is the strongest point of time. Remember sundown and the giving away to night. Remember your birth, how your mother struggled to give you form and breath. You are evidence of her life, and her mother's, and hers. Remember your father. He is your life, also. Remember the earth whose skin you are: red earth, black earth, yellow earth, white earth brown earth, we are earth. Remember the plants, trees, animal life who all have their tribes, their families, their histories, too. Talk to them, listen to them. They are alive poems. Remember the wind. Remember her voice. She knows the origin of this universe. Remember you are all people and all people are you. Remember you are this universe and this universe is you. Remember all is in motion, is growing, is you. Remember language comes from this. Remember the dance language is, that life is. Remember.
It seems very right that Earth Day happens during Poetry Month.

“You may not see it now," said the Princess of Pure Reason, looking knowingly at Milo's puzzled face, "but whatever we learn has a purpose and whatever we do affects everything and everyone else, if even in the tiniest way. Why, when a housefly flaps his wings, a breeze goes round the world; when a speck of dust falls to the ground, the entire planet weighs a little more; and when you stamp your foot, the earth moves slightly off its course. Whenever you laugh, gladness spreads like the ripples in the pond; and whenever you're sad, no one anywhere can be really happy. And it's much the same thing with knowledge, for whenever you learn something new, the whole world becomes that much richer.”
Norton Juster, beloved author of The Phantom Tollbooth has died. Born June 2, 1929, Brooklyn, New York Died: March 8, 2021 Northampton MA

These knitted versions of Frog and Toad are so cute- it’s enough to make a person want to learn how to knit.
Arnold Lobel Born May 22, 1933- Died December 4, 1987
The 1970s classic children’s book series Frog and Toad is a tale of two friends—conveniently named Frog and Toad—and the close bond they share. You might remember reading it while growing up. Artist Kristina McGowan did, and she’s created a charming knitting pattern inspired by the titular characters. The DIY project features Frog and Toad dressed in attire similar to what you’d see in the books. McGowan has captured their eyes and expression, making them recognizable to fans of the books and offering some welcome nostalgia.
