re-reading my own fic because the author has exactly my taste in tropes, ships the same ships in the right way, and also shares my sense of humour. what a find, what a revelation. i hope they write more of this sort of thing.

yeah sex is cool I guess
but have you ever had someone leave a comment with a paragraph-long review of your fanfic containing genuine praise, thorough criticism, and an in-depth analysis of all the lore hints you dropped that you spent ages intricately crafting

I love it when people take fic writing seriously. I love when it's not 'Here's this dumb thing I wrote' and instead it's 'Here's this thing I put blood, sweat and tears into. Here's this thing I slaved away at, trying new writing techniques and editing over and over. Here's this dialogue that kept me awake at night. Here's this beautiful turn of phrase I thought up. Here's this thing that I wrote with vulnerability and heart, and I am proud to share it with you.'

people telling you they reread your fic is the biggest compliment you could ever receive. there are thousands of stories out there begging to be found, to be explored, but your story meant so much to someone that they came back to it eagerly, they went over every word again. to love is to return and loving a fic is rereading it. thank you to all readers and rereaders <3333

Hey guys....been absent for a long time I know. Not even sure who is still around from OUAT and the lovely Captain Swan crew. Being an adult sucks something fierce. Got sucked into responsibilities, politics, and life. And when that got totally depressing, I just kind of gave up on things that were enjoyable...like pretty people, art, and the written word. I've slowly been back with my anticipation of finally seeing beautiful Penelope and Colin getting their turn on the screen with Bridgerton Season 3. I didn't want them to overtake all my Captain Swan love on this blog so I post most of my love on my sub blog above. I create here and there, to distract myself. It's not much, but it makes me smile.
I miss you all. And I still owe everyone that follow up to Treasure Seekers... I swear its all been written except that last chapter and dammit if that last chapter hasn't alluded me for years. One day....I swear, one day.
Much love! Stacy <3

Something that bugs me about a lot of writing advice is the assumption that writing is linear and therefore a writer’s skill will improve and improve and improve.
This is not true.
There are days when the words don’t come, when the “great writing tip” that saved a previous work becomes claustrophobic in a current work, when everything seems more difficult than it used to even though nothing on the outside has changed.
Yes, some of this is higher expectations as we improve or try more ambitious works.
And some of it is just being a writer who, like everyone else, has good days and bad days.
It’s okay.
Writing is an art.
And art isn’t linear.
