“Known to have been found naturally along the banks of the mighty Nile River in Egypt thousands of years ago, the beauty of the blue lotus flower prompted men to take the brilliantly-hued plant back to their own homelands. Thus, the blue lotus spread to the world beyond in ancient times and is commonly seen today in India and parts of northern Southeast Asia.

Besides the blue lotus, the white lotus was also native to Egypt (and the eastern parts of Africa). Both were revered by the ancient Egyptians and occupied places of prominence in all their most hallowed structures, monuments and ceremonies.”
“The blue lotus plays a role in the Egyptian story of Creation, where the sun god, Ra, emerged from one at the very Beginning. The opening and closing of the lotus in the daylight and nighttime hours is said to be symbolic of the cycle of the sun through the heavens.
It was not only the beauty of the blue lotus flower to which its mesmerizing popularity can be attributed. The blue lotus is sometimes referred to as the Egyptian Dream Flower. This is a direct reference to the hallucinogenic properties of its leaves. Blue lotus leaves have long been used for their ability to induce a hypnotic effect and act as a sedative.

This ability to transport individuals into a dreamlike state was highly sought after by priests and other individuals who used it as a conduit to communicate with the world beyond. Some used this effect as a tool to foretell the future while others said that it allowed them to speak to the gods and receive their instructions in person instead of from scrolls and ancient writings.”

“Rebirth and Enlightenment As Common Symbolism
In general, the lotus flower is mainly considered as  a symbol of rebirth since it rises from darkness and turns into a beautiful flower with pink and white petals much like a human being born from nothing [divine all-source] and [re] turning into something complete and beautiful.
This process of coming into existence is also considered as a symbol of spiritual enlightenment and the expansion of one’s soul.”

True teaching is not an accumulation of knowledge; it is an awaking of consciousness which goes through successive stages.

Mimicking Plant Movement
Tumblr media
Many plants control the curvature of their leaves by selectively pumping water into cells that line the outer surface. This swelling triggers bending. Engineers created their own version of this structure. (Image credit: T. Gao et al.; via GoSM) Read the full article

"The tribe Euglossini, in the subfamily Apinae, commonly known as orchid bees or euglossine bees, are the only group of corbiculate bees whose non-parasitic members do not all possess eusocial behavior."
Wikipedia
"The perfume that male orchid bees create by collecting scents from the flowers they visit is designed to make females choose them rather than another mate.
Male orchid bees collect raw materials from multiple sources, including the orchid flowers they pollinate. These are used to concoct perfume mixtures that are stored in specialised hind-leg pouches (...)."
"The composite odour created by combining different molecules allows communication of more integrated information, such as how suitable a male is to be a father (...)."

Caring is open-hearted, keeping us available to transmit love to a stranger through simple eye contact and without condition. This is not the opportunistic sizing-up of sexual cruising; instead, it’s the felt recognition of the divinity and humanity in another individual.
