as a child I rapturously enjoyed the seats in the schoolbus positioned over the wheels, where the floor was elevated to accommodate for them, making you prop your legs on the bump. We wanted to share our lessons with those of you who have Budgies or adopt them in the future.

1. When you think you have “a real big cage”, you need a bigger one. 18x18x30 is meant for one budgie and even that is archaic in bird care. We would love to see you NEVER buy that “combo cage” deal at Petxxxx. It is pricey for what you get and not right for the birds. Amazon can beat prices hands down. 2. If you have 2 birds, give 2 serving dishes of food, same for more. They don’t have to be big but give everyone access to food.

3. Yes, Budgies should eat fresh food! They can and will eat spinach, pear, etc. Just make sure it is washed really well.

4. Most likely your bird hasn’t reached a ripe old age and died. Especially so if the mate dies shortly thereafter.

5. Get them toys! Fresh branches! Pull eggs (they won’t get depressed)! Let them fly somewhere safe to get them exercised.

6. Don’t give them grit, mite spray, nests (beds), or substrate other than paper.

7. Keep a close eye on them every day. Watch for inflamed nares, check their feet, beaks, eyes, and butt (vent).

8. They nearly make up half of all birds in our homes…they ARE real birds. If you can’t handle a budgie, you can’t handle a larger bird, although a budgie can be the death of you for how our home environment can affect them.

I do not think any of us would ever wish having to frantically try to contact your family and friends that are living somewhere you know is getting bombed on anyone, because we know there is no worse feeling than not getting a response and yet everyone else feels so comfortable enough to make jokes and act like none of this matters or is serious

Hello everyone! I'm 21 years old and I was studying mobile computing before this madness started. Struggling to secure clean water and food and feeling safe is not bearable anymore.
