Welcome to my pet blog! Currently, I have a cat named Blue Buggle, a rescue mouse named Larry and blue shrimps. I love to look at, play with, draw and study animals and pets allow an intimate look into the behaviour of these animals. All in all, we are a happy family of creatures. Our little family would like to encourage you to adopt small animals from shelters if you can. You'd be surprised how many rats end up in shelters.
No letter this time, it's just a bouquet of yellow flowers with a note reading "sorry about the tonberry" and a gift card to the nearest pasta restaurant attached
Mouse delivery has been moved to Sunday, but I did receive a picture of him. I'm naming him Louis, (loo-ee) and I'm extremely excited to welcome him home.
The rescue picked him for me. He was getting picked on by other mice but is really nice so I'm excited to meet him and show him his new life!
Applied for a rescue mouse! Hopefully I get chosen to receive a rescue. If not, I'm probably going to get a feeder mouse. I deeply miss having a rodent and I am ending almost 2 decades of rat keeping to switch to a mouse.
The life of Mr.Food Stewart Little. After someone attempted to feed him to a snake, the snake didn't want him, so he was given to me. He spent two years and a few months with me. In that short time, he became this amazing, funny, smart, sweet and gentle little rat that I'm heart broken about losing. It was just his time, but he was my son and he is irreplaceable. His sudden departure left a huge void in my life, and I felt physically ill while trying to process my loss. I'm grieving, and many of my friends and family loved Stewart and mourn his passing. He was a bright light in my life, and I miss him so much. I love him so much.
Unfortunately, Stewart's health continued to decline and he had to be taken to an emergency vet to be put to sleep today. He was such an amazing rat. I'm heart broken. He's missed by so many in my family and friends. I'll never forget you, my heart rat, my son, Mr.Food Stewart Little.
Over the past 3 days, Stewart's health has gone down hill. He was doing great healing from the surgery, then suddenly started becoming lethargic, losing his apatite, and his chronic ear problem became a very severe sinus infection. 200$ later, he's on 3 different medications, so we'll have to just see if he recovers. It is possible he has an other tumor somewhere inside making his immune system crash though, so we really just have to wait and see if he responds to the medications.
Stewart is done his meds and some of his scabbing is already peeling! Today is his last night in the hospital cage. After I do his laundry, I'll set him up in his big cage. Next step is getting him use to moving his leg around, then maybe getting him to climb up something. The tumor greatly impacted his range of movement so I have to pay extra attention to him so he can let me know his limits.

Stewart is still doing great! He's leaving his stitches alone, and even though he won't take his medications straight, he takes it with oatmeal and either banana or maple syrup depending on which medication I'm giving. He's eating lots and staying hydrated with either peas and corn or water. After he's done his medication after the next 5 days, I'll take him to his grandmother's house to run around for the first time with out a giant tumor holding him back. I got him a veggie mix thinking it was a great idea to get variety but he only likes the peas and corn and now I'm out and have to get a peas and corn mix. Apparently the frozen carrots, green beans and soybeans aren't to his liking, lol.
