Happy (belated) New Year!!!

Sorry I’m late, I meant to post this on the first of January but life, school, internet-destroying storms, and floods got in the way vfdnj Better late than never I guess

Happy New Year!

The tail end of last year was super challenging for me, and I’m still stuck in assignment/assessment limbo right now so the start of 2022 is already busy busy busy, but I’m holding out hope that it goes generally better than last year

I hope that for all of you too. 2021 was a hard year for a lot of people, emotionally, mentally, physically, financially, and if you were one of those people who had a difficult time then I sincerely congratulate you for making it this far <3 Seriously, I’m proud of everyone for dealing with a year like 2021

With any luck 2022 will be a lot better, I’m hoping that it goes easier and snoother for all of us this time around and I wish you all every happiness in the world for the new year as well as for the rest of it (* ^ ω ^)

As for how I am nvfjd I made a public post little while ago on my Patreon (this one) kind of explaining my situation right now and I meant to link it to this Tumblr sooner, but my computer actually stopped working (the adapter on my charger was broken so my laptop wouldn't charge and it died) and I got preoccupied trying to fix that and forgot to update Tumblr dvfjn whoops

But as a kind of after update, I'm out of self-isolation already and I am no longer sick, I got my new charger so my laptop is working again, and I am currently catching up on my assignments and homework so yeah fnvjd that's what my weekend will consist of I guess

Hey, hope you're doing well! I've got a question about Fleur. In chapter three, if you take her with you to GG, there are two instances of accidental contact (and one more that is technically on purpose, but only because it was kind of necessary). She seems striken, almost embarrassed in these moments. Is it habit because she's friends with Milo? Or is it because you and her are essentially strangers and she believes in boundaries when possible? Thank you for everything you do!

It's something of a combination of both. Fleur doesn't have many friends that are physically affectionate, so she's really not used to being touched casually or having someone invade her space. At the same time, she'd be more open to this if she and MC knew each other well, which they don't at that point, so the fact that their near strangers is playing a part in her awkwardness

hello hello ✨ I was wondering, let's say all the ros are on a roadtrip and each get a specific time to put on a song/album/artist on, who would they choose? and who would just not even enter the car?

Oooh road trip! I love this question, so I'm gonna add a little bit of info, namely what role they all take in the roadtrip vfdnj

Fleur will put on acoustic guitar song covers for the entirety of her turn. Also, she wants to drive because she likes to, but Atlas bans her on account of the fact that her license expired years ago

Sohl doesn't even want to go. Refuses for a good hour before he finally gives in so that people will stop annoying him about it. Passes all music decisions onto Atlas and spends the whole trip complaining in the passenger's seat when it's Atlas's turn to drive or catching up on sleep when it's not (he needs more sleep, the boy is deprived)

Atlas is designated driver number one, so he gets to pick the music first. He'll play a lot of Coldplay, Gallant, and OneRepublic because he just really likes that soft rock sound for when he's on the road. When he's not driving and someone else is playing music, he stares out the window and his own music on in his earphones

Inna is designated driver number two, and she mostly plays anime theme songs. When it's not that, she constantly switches between genres, musicians, decades with seemingly no rhyme or reason, playing whatever she likes. She also tries to start a poker game in the back when she's not driving so she can win (steal) all Fleur's money, but she won't succeed

Milo is designated driver number three, and they play a bunch of electronic/dance music which is frequently interspaced with indie music, stuff like Dayglow and boy pablo. While not driving, they eventually rage quit out of card games if they lose too much and instead try to take pictures of passing landscapes

This may be a spoilery question that you cannot answer but... to me, the title "Love the Guard, Be the King" implies that Mathias cannot do both- He cannot love/be with the Dragon Commander and be an effective king. Is that true? (I completely respect your vision and creative choices, and will love the story no matter what, but I just want them all to be happy in the end!!)

P.S. from pet name anon. Where I’m from everybody calls everybody ‘my lover’ - and now I am enjoying picturing Fleur’s face if a random stranger called her that.

bvfdh Fleur is kinda possessive of nicknames, especially from MC if they get together so if, say, MC calls her 'my lover' and someone else used it she'd be like "What? You don't get to say that, only MC gets to say that to me"

Hello!! Do any of the ROs like or use pet names?

Hey!!

Fleur: It takes her a while to get into the swing of pet names (most nicknames by her are mean, not sweet) but she eventually gets really comfortable with darling. Will also use amour but very rarely and only in extremely tender moments

Sohl: Isn’t big on super sweet pet names. At most will use MC’s nickname if they have one, but does it sparingly

Atlas: Post relationship Atlas uses pet names more often than MC’s actual name. Has a soft spot for honey, hon, and dear because it makes him feel like the two of them are an old married couple

Inna: Uses pet names like a 1920s movie mobster. She’d still be very fond of gorgeous since it was her first nickname for MC, but she’ll expand her vocabulary and to add in snookums, doll, and sugar, because she thinks MC is beautiful treat

Milo: Will try to relate the pet name to how MC makes them feel, for example calling them sunshine because they light up their life, or daydream because they’re a dream come true. When they’re tired and can’t think of anything clever, they’ll simply call MC lover

moon again! here with more fun thoughts, how would the ROs react to MC being a big flower language nerd who would communicate/show affection via flowers while they’re dating? gestures like giving azalea to say “take care of yourself”

I’m assuming MC and the LIs are already in a relationship just cause that makes this easier, also it got kinda long so answer is under the cut:

Fleur, being a flower nerd herself, would appreciate it immensely. Actually she might even prefer it post relationship. Fleur isn’t really big on words of affection, she’s more of an acts of love kind of gal, so she would gift MC flowers and bouquets to say the words she would rather not voice

It takes Sohl a while to realize MC isn’t just giving him flowers for fun. He’s not particularly fluent in lingua flora, so when he finally understands why their giving him the flowers (probably through intervention), he’ll buy books and study them relentlessly to make sure he understands exactly what message MC is trying to send. Won’t reciprocate in kind, but he does respond to the flowers as if they’re actually spoken words. For example, receiving the azaleas and saying “I will“

Atlas loves flowers. He doesn’t necessarily know their meanings but he does love how nice they make the house look. Will get vases upon vases to match different flowers/flower arrangements and display them where everyone can see. Will also spend moments of his day just staring at them and being thankful that MC got them for him

Inna’s not particularly into flowers, but she becomes incredibly enthusiastic when receiving them from MC. She’ll ask MC about their meanings and get them to teach her all they can about flowers and lingua flora. Keeps them on a high shelf, in a fall proof vase to keep them safe from her cats

Milo is something of a flower nerd themself by virtue of growing up with Fleur, so they get the messages immediately. If MC is really into flowers, which I’d assume they are since they’re sending them to everyone, Milo will make an effort to capture more pictures of flowers and plants and nature in general and make a collage or a bunch of framed photos for MC to take. They might even break out the watercolours and paint some as a special present, with some lovely message

Atlas: Not much bothers him enough that he feels the need to call it a pet peeve. He either loves something, is indifferent about it, or hates it with a burning passion

Inna: When her cats hide her things (get it? pet peeve)

Milo: When Fleur leaves her loose-leaf notes and random jars of things in the living area of her house

Hello! The weather here has been pretty chaotic ever since the September Equinox, with the days and nights getting hotter and the mornings getting colder, and monsoon season is fast approaching but I'm generally doing well! For your question:

Fleur has quite good self control, so as soon as she realizes the pages are of her she assumes it’s not something MC intended for her eyes, so she just leaves the room and pretends she didn’t see anything. She’ll be confused about it afterwards, wondering if this means her feelings are returned or if MC simply likes drawing from reference

Sohl is extremely confused, and he can’t stop himself from staring at the page. Is that really what he looks like to MC? Didn’t they hate him? What is the motive here? When they come back, he immediately asks them why they’ve been drawing him

Atlas flips through the pages in awe, first at how good MC is at drawing, then at the fact that they were drawing him specifically. He takes this as a hint that MC is a little into him maybe, and proceeds to pretend he didn’t go through the sketchbook while being more open with his own feelings. Post confessions, he’ll ask them about their drawings

Inna asks as soon as she sees herself in the pages, more out of surprise than out of actual confusion. “Is this me?!“ She asks loudly enough that MC can probably hear her from the next room, and then she picks up the book to get a closer look. She only realizes the implications of MC daydreaming about her later, and gets very flustered

Milo is surprised and confused at first, but then they remember that they keep an album on their phone of pics and selfies that they took of or with MC. They proceed to blush very hard and leave the room so that they can pace and overthink MC’s possible feelings and their own. It’ll take them a while, but they’ll eventually admit that  they saw the sketchbook and ask about it
