Hey! I’ve been lurking around on your blog a lot, even before I had a tumblr myself (and now I sound like a stalker 😫😭) and I’ve just gotta say, I appreciate how brutally honest you are on here! Even though I have some different opinions, I respect how brave you are to put them out (and I’m a little jealous haha)

And now I’m rambling 😂

But what I wanted to ask was what do you think of sellie? I know you don’t like s6 semma (neither do I). But I’ve never seen you talk about sellie on your blog, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts on them.

my opinion on sellie is that they are one of best couples on Degrassi, or at least from that era, would need to comprehensively rewatch degrassi again to fully form my opinion.

they had a maturity that most other couples (understandably) didnt have, they were two people forced to grow up quicker and they found that solace together.

for me semma were always the cute childhood romance but sellie had the future promise and I think they just dropped the ball on sellie, semma as well as sean and ellies character as a whole.

really I'm just annoyed that the relationship was never given the closure it deserves because it was a lot more serious than most degrassi relationships but was ended as if they'd only been dating for like 4 episodes. they focused so much of seans leaving on emma even though they hadnt interacted in at least a whole season by tha point and that is just criminal

been rewatching that 70s show, which has reminded me of the existence of that 90s show.

And i think that one thing people made way too big a deal of is the continuity issues that 90s show had with that 70s show.

i'm sorry but did you ever watch that 70s show??? they literally never cared about timelines and continuity.

according to that 70s show laurie is barely 9 months older than eric, eric turned 17 in '76 but didnt graduate highschool until '79 and lest i mention the existence of Donna's two sisters who vanished into thin air.

for anything that 90s show can be criticised on, nitpicking them on continuity errors when it is proceeded my a show that didn't know what the word continuity meant, is a bit silly.

of every opinion existent amongst glee fans, the only one i think truly deserves being shot from a canon is the insistent matthew morrison hate.

it is bullying and harrasment.

and i have seen the most disgusting claims of matthew morrison which have no basis, just because people hate mr schue.

have i posted consistently in a year? no. but i've had a thought about the show glee (2009-15) and nowhere else to share it so to the old tumblr blog it goes.

In season 6 we're introduced to 2 new characters; spencer and mason.

Spencer is a post modern gay teen™ he's not like the other gays he loves football (❤️🏈) and hates lady gaga (🤢🤮) and whilst theres nothing wrong with having those opinions, spencer is placed in a position of superiority because he has those opinions.

Things stereotypically liked by feminine people = bad

Things stereotypically liked by masculine people = good

The character clearly has internalised homophobia and toxic masculinity and even the itself series depicts him as being negatively affected by these issues, when he feels as though he can't join glee club because he'll be judged.

Spencer says that he needs to keep in line with a more stereotypically masculine presentation because being gay is already seen a mark against him, he's pressured into being one thing

The show acknowledges spencers harmful mindset a little but they dont deconstruct it enough, so a lot of the audience still see it as a positive one simply because its not stereotypical.

Then we have Mason, he's a cheerleader who doesn't have the same pressures or worry over judgement that spencer has, despite being a straight man who is part of a cheerleading squad and enthusiatically joins the glee club because he wants to.

He rejects the stereotypes associated with his sexual orientation and has a freedom and joy that spencer doesn't have.

yet we're led to believe that spencer despite all the baggage he has around doing anything that could possibly be percieved as feminine is the the more liberated one

one thing I believe that no one can convince me of otherwise is that Arwen as relationship was 100% giving

the tension? the stakes? insane level of iconic

like cannot imagine watching 3x10 'queen of hearts' and not gobbling it all up from start to finish

the moment they got caught? Arthur professing his love of Gwen towards uther? Arthur relinquishing his title to the throne as Gwen and Arthur get dragged apart?
