Read Aesthetica Magazine’s review of LOOKING OUT FROM THE #CCCS: ‘From 1964 until 2002, a unique blend of teaching, student engagement and documentation that took place at Birmingham’s Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS). Founded at the University of Birmingham by sociologist Richard Hoggart in 1964, it was one of the first academic bodies to examine the impact of popular culture, particularly in Britain, from music and television programmes to fashion trends. In 2002 the CCCS was dramatically closed due to a restructuring at the university with hundreds of students being placed into new departments. Now, in 2014, the 50th anniversary of its establishment, a series of events and exhibitions, of which one is Vivid Project’s Looking Out From The CCCS, celebrate its legacy. - See more at: http://www.aestheticamagazine.com/blog/review-looking-cccs-vivid-projects-birmingham/#sthash.SE0xMUAP.dpuf

Congratulations to @jacob_lewis_adam 💫 We are pleased to share the news of Adam’s film ‘People Meeting in a Room’ screening in competition at the Ann Arbor Film Festival on 24/03/21.
Co-commissioned by Vivid Projects & Animate Projects, People Meeting In A Room is a richly layered work reflecting on collective film making and workers’ activism. Developed over a year of deep research, it connects the histories of activists and film makers associated with the Birmingham Trade Union Resource Centre in the 1980s with a group of contemporary collaborators. Importantly, the film considers political and personal bias, personal agency and the transformative power of the collective act. . Collaborators and contributors to the film include: Ranbir Bains, Marian Hall, Muhammad Idrish, Ian Sergeant, Cathy Wade, Barry Burns, Christian Noelle Charles, Alicia Matthews, Tony Morris, Laurie Pitt and Jason Kerley. . Animated characters by kind permission of Steve Bell. . Archive footage by kind permission of TURC Video and VIVID archive courtesy of Vivid Projects, Yasmeen Baig-Clifford and Marian Hall. .

Thank you @marcin_sz_photographer for documenting The Factory, our current exhibition with @adam_lewis_jacob ✨We were honoured to have veteran campaigner Muhammad Idrish join us for the opening @digbethfirstfri✨ The exhibition includes a rolling screening of Idrish (ইদ্রিস) - simultaneously a portrait of veteran anti-deportation campaigner Muhammad Idrish and a celebration of anti-racist community action. The film is a call to action, its tone established with a reading of Bidrohi (The Rebel / “বিদ্রোহী”) a revolutionary Bengali poem written by Kazi Nazrul Islam in 1921. Muhammad Idrish’s fight to remain in the UK in the 1980s and the sustained campaign to stop Muhammad’s deportation received widespread support and his trade union NALGO (now UNISON ) took up the fight nationally. Muhammad’s fight was a powerful moment of a joint struggle between anti-racist and trade union movements, and was unique in being documented by the Birmingham Trade Union Research Council’s video filming and distribution initiative, TURC video.  This is the final week - don’t miss it! #antiracism #film #digbeth #LetsCreate (at Vivid Projects) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck78J4zo2yn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
