don't know how to word it exactly but what sways me more toward tommy as buck's love interest than any other LI before is how different the initial infatuations look in comparison

abby, ali, taylor and natalia all were interested in buck but in the 'walks into dangerous situations for a living and is hot' way (and also 'young and prioritizes me' for abby, to top it off, and 'died' for natalia)

but tommy is a firefighter, pilot, etc. and used to the whole 'walks into danger' bit and knows its bullshit so all he sees in buck is an adorable dork with a heart of gold, even more adorable enthusiasm, and some awkwardness thrown into the mix - and this is how buck actually is most of the time, even when he walks into danger without hesitation

and tommy still says, 'yeah, I like this one'.

call me crazy, but i don't want eddie and buck to get together this season if they're planned out to be endgame. what i want is for eddie to have a realization feelings while buck becomes more confident in his sexuality and discovering this new wonderful facet of his being. what i want is for eddie to watch buck with tommy, feeling strange with every interaction they have and struggling to understand why because he's not homophobic, he's truly not, and he doesn't have an issue with tommy because tommy is awesome and one of his friends, but he doesn't quite understand why seeing them together bothers him so much. until one day, he sees buck just laughing and smiling and goofing around and eddie just feels so much warmth at the joy on buck's face and going, "i love seeing him happy" and then realizing, "oh, i'm in love with him". i want to watch eddie's feelings finally click into place, and everything finally making sense to him. i want eddie to realize that maybe it's really not so shocking that he's in love with the man who he trusts above all else with his child and on the job and with his own self, who's always welcome into his home, who he'd rather spend time with over every woman he's ever dated and is the one of the very few people he isn't afraid to make commitments with. i want to watch the realization that he's in love with his best friend and understanding that it's always been him and will always be him. i want to watch the growth of learning to accept that he's not as straight as he thought he was, learning how to start handling that reservoir of catholic guilty he has, and figuring out just what he's going to do about his feelings for his best friend who's into someone else. i want the pining, the angst, the yearning, the acceptance of ones feelings and ones self. that's what i want by the end of this season.

- chimney had a rebar go through his literal actual brain and then was back at work one month later

- buck had an emergency tracheotomy done with a steak knife and a pen in the middle of a restaurant

- a tsunami. hello.

- an entire fucking bus that flew into the side of a building TWENTY STORIES UP

- chimney died. twice. in the same night.

- buck got struck by lightning, fell off a ladder, dangled limply by a rope, didn’t break a single bone somehow, was quite literally dead for more than three minutes, and then was ?? fine ?? and back to work ??

- NONE OF THEM HAVE ANY FUCKING SCARS ???????

- sure yeah let’s take an lafd chopper to mexico. of course.

- it’s never hotter than 70° in LA and everyone can comfortably wear pants and light jackets every day year round. in. southern california.

- they all still have their jobs somehow

sorry i'm just thinking about the whole circumstances of the shooting again and how absolutely batshit insane that was???????? like. first they had carla observe eddie and ana and insinuate ana wasn't what eddie wanted as she told him, 'just make sure you're following your heart, not christopher's.' and had eddie's face go on a Journey. then 20 minutes later, eddie gets shot in broad daylight and it was filmed Like That with everything slowing down and going completely silent as he and buck stared at each other and buck is covered in eddie's blood and eddie is falling and buck is shoved to the ground by mehta and eddie is dying but one of the last things he does before he falls unconscious is look at buck one more time and reach out for him and then buck rOLLS UNDER A FIRETRUCK in the middle of active fire to get to him and pull him to safety and when they're in the ambulance he's telling eddie over and over again that it's okay, that he's got him, that they're so close to the hospital, he just needs to hang on, and for the .5 seconds eddie is awake he sees the blood on buck's face and ASKS IF HE'S HURT?!!?!?!?!? because he's more concerned about buck than himself????????? and then buck has to go tell chris what happened and he breaks down sobbing when he finds out eddie made it out of surgery because he cannot fathom the idea that he nearly lost him and he takes care of chris while eddie's in hospital without having to be asked and in the brief interlude where taylor kisses him and runs away buck runs to eddie instead of running after taylor and then he Tells eddie that he lost it when he told chris what happened and that it would be better if he was the one who got shot and eddie sits him down and says he changed his will A YEAR AGO after the well so that buck would be chris' legal guardian if he died because no one would ever fight for chris the way buck would (not even his biological family) and then he calls buck evan and tells him he's not expendable and ALL OF THIS HAPPENS and they never talk about it again!!!! until 5x12 where eddie says he remembers getting shot and thinking he was about to die and then nothing else until he woke up in the hospital as if the memory of the whole ordeal isn't probably seared into buck's brain and i'm just??????????? what the fuck was that guys
