Btw when someone says "don't talk to me like that, I don't know you" the normal thing to do is apologize for the perceived overfamiliarity and correct the behavior. Just in case anyone was wondering

On a scale from Couldn’t Care Less to Can’t Sleep at Night, how much does it bother you when someone makes it clear that they completely and utterly missed the whole point of something you wrote?
Millions of people have read my books. I know that everyone won't love everything. Lots of them won't even like anything.
And that's a good thing. It's good that different people like different writers and stories, not to mention foods and places. Imagine how dull it would be if we only liked the same things.
So it doesn't bother me at all.

Whenever I see someone refer to "Victorian era-" for places outside the UK I'm tempted to start saying shit like "Han Dynasty era Rome", "Soviet era Australia" etc

I'm gonna say it.
It's unhinged to assume that someone's taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.
That is a bonkers assumption to make.
I'm tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.
I'm tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold-- that they should be afraid of fiction's dire influence on a reader's moral decay or that it's a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.

i have this one fanfic that i’m terrified of continuing because the part of it i wrote is so beautiful and poetic that i feel like i’ll be upset if i write around it and nothing else is as beautiful as that one segment

NO ONE knows how to use thou/thee/thy/thine and i need to see that change if ur going to keep making “talking like a medieval peasant” jokes. /lh
They play the same roles as I/me/my/mine. In modern english, we use “you” for both the subject and the direct object/object of preposition/etc, so it’s difficult to compare “thou” to “you”.
So the trick is this: if you are trying to turn something Olde, first turn every “you” into first-person and then replace it like so:
“I” →  “thou”
“Me” →  “thee”
“My” →  “thy”
“Mine” →  “thine”
Let’s suppose we had the sentences “You have a cow. He gave it to you. It is your cow. The cow is yours”.
We could first imagine it in the first person-
“I have a cow. He gave it to me. It is my cow. The cow is mine”.
And then replace it-
“Thou hast a cow. He gave it to thee. It is thy cow. The cow is thine.”

my gayboy friends lovingly call me "their dyke". my qpp called me beautiful for my intersex traits. my beloved transmasc friend got strong on t and he carried me up the sand dunes on the beach because my mobility aids wouldn't work climbing sand like that. the queens at the bar cheered me on when i got up on stage and i was scared in front of the crowd. we're here to love each other in our own little ways. there is so much beauty here

As someone who has been living with severe suicidal ideation my entire life I wanna tell you all something, you don’t have to stay alive for yourself. People will say it’s a bad idea to live for external things because they’re temporary, and it’s true living for yourself is ideal but if you’re not to that point yet that’s ok too.
I’ve lived for my dog for the past 4 years, before that I lived for my snakes, before that I lived for my cat. You can live for whatever needs you and whatever matters to you. Live for your best friend, live for your plants, live for your pets, live for your animal crossing town. Live for whatever keeps you alive and the day will come when you can live for yourself.

I love how we've lost the plot so thoroughly on what "pov" means as far as a TikTok/reel/whatever and now it's functionally the same as rod serling saying "imagine if you will"

Top-Tier Villain Motivations
They will be safe. It doesn't matter who else or what else burns as long as They will be safe.
I will be safe. The hunger and the cold will never touch me again.
Fuck any bitch who's prettier(/cooler/better-liked/better at making dumplings) than me.
Yes, Master
Love me. Love me. Love me. Love me. LOVE ME!
I know the terrible things these so-called "heroes" will do if I don't stop them (<- is absolutely wrong)
I don't want a better future, I want a better past!
No other way to get performance art funded these days
