"Oh yeah, definitely pink!" Rosa nods emphatically in agreement. She's already drawn into the vendor's display, marveling at the wide variety of colors available. Pink, yellow, and blue might be a good combination, but she's still a bit dazzled with the several different shades of pink available.

After a minute or two of internal debate, she offers a suggestion. "How about light pink, dark pink, and purple?"

Rosa thanks her lucky stars that her mom wasn't that nosy about her love life... though the same can't be said about her found family, who all have gotten themselves involved in her 'growing a pine forest for Hilbert' adventure in some way.

Still, something Val says sparks her curiosity. "You're dealing with "wedding" stuff." She does the air quotes to match Val's tone. "Does she, uh... know that it's not real and the two of you aren't actually getting married?"

Come to think of it, wasn't Charis the one who "proposed" in the first place?

"Mmhm. She's the nurse from Route three. I guess her mom has been anxious about her finding a girlfriend or something."

Valerie just had the hunch that the family was nosey. Probably for the best that this wasn't real. The nurses probably would not be friendly to some of the things Valerie has gotten into.

"Charis didn't... panic as much as I did. I've been dealing with the "wedding" stuff for her since she's been busy at work."

At least the citizens of Village Bridge were treated to what was probably an entertaining sight; a flustered ex-champion chasing a Sinnohan ace trainer. He was just glad that nobody seemed to hear Lucas' initial quip about him taking three years to propose to Rosa.

Because as much as he liked the idea of marrying Rosa, just how soon was too soon??

"Uh. Y'mind if I take a shower real quick, love? Lucas really caught me off-guard; with all the fluff he wears, he's a lot faster than a guy would think." That, and he needs some time to process what happened.

The following information is readily available to the public, whether it be via interviews or news/internet articles, through a simple internet search.

Rosa’s status as both the Champion of Unova and a Pokéstar Studios actress. Most people are a fan of her for either one or the other, though she’s more often recognized as an actress first.

Her main roster. Though the team she may use against any given challenger may vary, the identity of all her core battlers is public knowledge through media and tournament appearances. The only constant in her teams is her Krookodile, who is her ace and is known to be an absolute MONSTER.

Her involvement with the Bring Us Together Foundation and the Pokémon Preserves in Icirrus and White Forest, both organizations that she founded and dedicates most of her efforts to. The organizations became well-known internationally after she hosted a fund-raising Valentine’s ball, the Ball of Hearts, for them a couple of years ago.

Her involvement with the community and Unova as a whole; any time anything major happens in the region, she and her E4 are some of the first people on the scene to help contain and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Her love of plants and flowers. As a result, she often receives potted plants and flowers as gifts from fans. She keeps them well-tended between her home and her office at the Pokémon League, though her Elites joke that the building is slowly turning into a greenhouse because of it.

Her friendship with Kantonian heiress Celia de la Rue-Aozaki. They are two high-profile figures that have been seen collaborating pretty often. Most recently, Celia raised funds for the Bring us Together Foundation during her Goldenrod Grand Gala.

Her status as the host for Unova's beloved Mewmas-time festival, the Village Bridge Holiday Festival of Lights.

The following is well-known across her home region, though the most dedicated of international fans might be able to find this information.

She rents a very large apartment in Nimbasa. Most believe this to be her primary residence, except for her neighbors; they know she’s hardly ever there unless she’s expected to make a public appearance in the near future.

She travels to Hoenn often, though her visits rarely align with any big tournaments so nobody knows why she goes there. Some have speculated that she’s visiting a long-distance lover. Really, she just enjoys the outdoor activities and she needs to make use of the hot springs, though there might've been a lover there in the past…

When she’s filming at Pokéstar Studios. Fans often come to Virbank in hopes of catching a glimpse of her or even meeting her. She’s well-known for being kind and pleasant to fans, always open to autographs and selfies, so people actively seek out impromptu meet-and-greets with her.

Who her mother is, though that is also because Amara Vail is a very talented nurse who has worked in some of the most high-traffic pokémon centers in Unova and was already well-known beforehand.

Less Public Knowledge.

The information below is mainly known by those that live or work in close proximity to her.

Her efforts to thwart Ghetsis and Neo Plasma. Most of the gym leaders were present for the attack in Opelucid, but only a select few ( mainly members of the E4 and the authorities ) know about what really happened in the Giant Chasm. Because the entire confrontation is not well-known, a lot of people felt like Rosa came out of nowhere when she became Champion.

Her true residence is Village Bridge, where she owns a house near the top of the bridge. While most of her neighbors enjoy benevolently gossiping about her presence in their quiet corner of Unova, they also keep it to themselves. In exchange, they know they can always rely on her help and expertise if they ever need it.

She is NOT an extrovert, despite what many people have come to believe, and will often feel drained and in need of recharging after filming sessions or intense social activities.

Her disdain toward Marlon and her desire to replace him as the eighth gym leader with someone more reliable. In fact, most members of the Unova League know this ( except for Marlon himself ).

Her fear of ghost-type pokémon, though very few people know the why behind it. This, of course, creates some minor tension between Rosa and her ghost-type Elite Shauntal, though Rosa does her best to manage the situation. Her fears have improved over the last few years, with her developing a tolerance to most ghost-type pokémon, especially those who appear less ghoulish. However, she is still traumatized by Spiritomb.

Private Knowledge.

Her past as a member of the original Team Plasma. That information is reserved for those who were right alongside her during that time and for those she trusts not to walk away from her if they find out. Some have noticed that she seems quite close with a few of the former Plasma members that help run the Bring Us Together foundation, though.

Her involvement with the Swords of Justice and how they aided her during her journey, her “adoption” of the mythical pokémon, Victini, and her various encounters with other legendary and mythical pokémon across Unova.

That she was hospitalized for several weeks following her battle against Ghetsis in the Giant Chasm and that it took her and her team months to recover both physically and emotionally from the ordeal. She also needs to soak her Kyurem-induced injuries in medicinal hot springs to tone down the aches, though the soaks are needed less frequently nowadays.

Her struggles with depression and PTSD following her hospitalization. Most of the movie roles she took after earning her final badge and before traveling to Kalos she accepted just so she could pretend to be someone else and were roles that she wouldn’t have accepted otherwise. This includes her role as the protagonist of the critically acclaimed Love and Battles series.

That she was once kidnapped for roughly twenty-four hours while she worked a case alongside a fellow nature ranger tracking poachers in White Forest. While her ranger friend was able to rescue her before she could come to serious harm, it was a situation that made her realize just how frustratingly fragile she was without her pokémon and it left some deep emotional scars that still need to be addressed.

Her relationship status, as she likes to keep her private life under wraps despite the media’s obsession with her romantic endeavors.

re: acting and Pokéstar Studios

Rosa’s acting career started inadvertently and very early on during her journey as a gym challenger when she was scouted by one of Mr. Stu Deeoh’s aides after her battle with Roxie. The scout was impressed with the passion and energy that Rosa projected during her battles and thought she’d be a good auditioning candidate for Riolu Girl in the studio’s upcoming film, Brycen-Man. Despite having taken part in some enjoyable drama skits in Trainer School, acting wasn’t something that Rosa had ever actually considered doing so she was a bit resistant at first, but she was eventually convinced to give it a try.

As it turned out, two years of successfully pretending to be someone she wasn’t (or pretending not to be someone she was?) prepared her well for playing a character in a movie. Immersing herself in a role and developing a new persona came easily to her and, since she never does anything in halves, she gave the audition her best shot. Even knowing how much effort she had channeled into her performance, she was still dismayed to find out that the audition had impressed both director Sergeo Pokémonski and Brycen, and thus landed her the role. While she agreed to stay in Virbank long enough to film her scenes, she took off for Castelia as soon as she could and didn’t stick around to see the finished product. The movie did well in the box office, but it didn’t suddenly inspire her to become an actress; at the time, she was more focused on her pokémon journey and learning more about the rising ‘Neo Plasma’ threat, so her brief acting stint was quickly forgotten.

It wasn’t until the tail end of her journey that Rosa was summoned back to Pokéstar Studios at Brycen’s request so she could reprise her role as the heroine in Brycen-Man Strikes Back, this time as Lucario Girl. This happened around the time when she first hit rock-bottom with her mental health, which led to her fully throwing herself into that and many other roles that the studio offered her. Acting quickly became a coping mechanism for her depression, where it was more about her pretending to be someone else—ANYONE but Rosa Vail—just so she could run away from all her problems.

Immersing herself in fantastical worlds where she could completely push aside reality helped her for a while, but it wasn’t until her mother confronted her over her depression that Rosa fully realized what she was doing and that she had to stop. She took an extended break from acting while she journeyed in Kalos and only returned to it after she became the champion of Unova. After a few rough patches during her first year, she found herself in a healthier state of mind and then returned to acting, this time because she actually enjoyed it, at which point her career fully flourished.

While Rosa does well in the action genre, her best work has always been in the fantasy genre and under the direction of Sydney Pokémet. Her first big solo hit and also her favorite film series to work on was Mystery Doors of the Magical Land, which is widely considered her best work. Her least favorite film series was Love and Battles because she felt like a pathetic, simpering fool the entire time during filming. Ironically, that series was also one of her greatest box-office hits and widely acclaimed by film audiences, particularly for Rosa’s emotionally evocative performance in the third installment of the series.
