The Visitor

"Lucas! Lucas Bouchard. I know you're in there. Show yourself!" Rosemary and Elizabeth on their way to the newspaper office, Molly and Bill on their way to the cafe, Florence and Ned on their way to the mercantile, Lee and Jesse on their way to see Joe at the church, and Clara, Fiona, & Faith on their way to the clinic all turned nearly in unison at the sound. They were met with the sight of a young woman dressed in black trousers and a white blouse with a head full of black curls that were billowing around her head like a gathering storm. She was standing in the street in front of the saloon with her hands on her hips and luggage at her feet. "Bouchard! Come on out here. Show yourself! No one watching moved, they were holding their collective breath it seemed. The front door of the saloon opened and Lucas showed himself. His face was arranged in such a way as to not give away a single thought or feeling. He stood there for what seemed to those watching an eternity. Finally, a broad smile broke out on his face and he practically bounced down the stairs, put out his arms, and shouted, "Lucinda!" as the young woman threw herself into his arms. Lucas swung her around in a full circle and then returned her feet to the ground. "What are you doing here Luce? Last I heard you were causing trouble in Paris." "I missed you." She kissed his cheek and he smiled, giving her waist a squeeze. That was when he noticed the entire town watching, including Elizabeth. He waved them all over and squared his shoulders and stood behind Lucinda giving her a little push toward the people who were, quite quickly, converging on them. "Ladies and gentlemen of Hope Valley, please allow me to introduce Lucinda Bouchard, my sister." He gave a little bow and Lucinda completed the scene with a curtsey. "Now, which one of you is the thief of my brother's heart?"
