Small update, I didn’t finish 1.
But I did finished 120 others since the op in 2021.
Can’t wait to reach my goal of 80 books for 2023!
Tumblr media
Any bets on how long this stack will take to finish?

it's so bitter to watch how many people are only now realising that the censorship of "morally bad" things will never stop at just the things they personally find repulsive. the problem with morals is that they're not a fixed norm that everyone agrees on and that they're a very easy argument to be used by bigots against marginalised groups. that's why it's dangerous to call for censorship on moral grounds - whose morals exactly?
all you people campaigning for a boycott of ao3, wanting them to censor "bad" content, i am begging you to wake the fuck up and understand that for many people "bad" things include queer people's existence, any form of sexual content, minority-representation and criticism of the government.
don't open the door for them.

Anyone else hate using the term bisexual because you feel like you’re giving your family false hope that you’ll marry a man one day

There is a candidate named Tiffany G. in the current Ao3 board elections with a pro-censorship position for getting Ao3 unbanned in China. This is ship and kink agnostic: the only way to get Ao3 unbanned in China would be the removal of all explicit queer content to bring it in line with the online censorship policies of the CCP Pre-ban, Chinese writers used Ao3 to host LGBTQ+ and explicit content due to being censored on Chinese websites, and writers of danmei (m/m) stories have been sent to prison in China for publishing queer content.
There are 3 seats, and 5 candidates (including her) so she has an actual chance to get elected. If you’ve contributed $10 in the past year and have eligibility to vote in this election, it is essential that you do so. Please check your e-mail for the ballot and vote for everyone except Tiffany in whichever order you prefer based on their stances.
Important context including how essential it is to vote this time if you want to support Ao3s current policies
Chinese fandoms on Weibo are up in arms against this candidate warning about her intention to bring Ao3 in line with the Chinese censored fanfic sites
Chat transcript of her election interview, including discussion of making Ao3 more publicly appealing, complaints about how it was banned in China, and the suggestion of removing ‘illegal’ content besides underage - which, in China, includes queer and explicit content - and avoidance of clear answers about which content would be censored

I think this is a controversial opinion but the reason throne of glass is so underrated are the first two books and well … the fact that it’s sjm’s first series and it shows in her writing at the beginning. but everything else about this series, especially starting with hof, is just outstanding. plot, pace, characters, character dynamics, lore, humour, sadness, tragedy. it’s so good and I will never stop declaring this as her best work despite disliking the beginning of the series. also no other ship, imo, reaches what rowaelin have. with them, you really get the feeling that it makes sense, that it’s meant to be.
p.s. I’m not even sure if tog is as underrated as I think it is, it’s just that on bookstagram, everyone always only talks about acotar, so that’s why I came to that conclusion. it might be false though
