What if Edward had attacked instead of Jasper in New Moon?

I feel like this would have drastically sped up the plotline in New Moon. He would leave Bella, yes, under the pretense of disliking her or her not being good enough for him. But, Edward would immediately go to Volterra to kill himself. He wouldn't give Bella the chance to form a friendship with Jake or find out about the Wolves because he would immediately go to the Volturi requesting death.

Alice would see this in her vision, come get Bella so she could try to talk him out of it. It's an option that Alice might turn Bella into a vampire herself, just so that she's indestructible and Edward cannot harm her again.

We would not get the lovely Jake / Bella content I live for, we would not get any major info on the Pack, and Bella would likely end up a vampire by the end of the novel. Because she's a vampire the Volturi have no reason to investigate, she never has baby Resume.

We might get the Eclipse plotline of Victoria trying to kill her to avenge James, but that would likely be the last book in the series.

How do you think it would change the story if Jacob went to the same high school as Bella?

I feel like Bella wouldn't have fallen for Edward as quickly as she did.

Jacob would've given her a solid, foundational friendship that she can rely on during the day at school

when she gets those mixed messages from Edward ("stay away from me I'm evil" while also constantly talking to her) I feel like she would just not tolerate it

shed have someone to talk to about Edward. she wouldn't feel like she has to go through it all alone in her own head

Jacob would help keep her grounded. "Bella why are you sitting with him at lunch when yesterday he said he wanted to kill you???"

I feel like we'd get a much heavier "friends to lovers trope" with Bella and Jacob

They'd hang out all the time and get super close. If Jacob and she got as close as they did in New Moon while going to different schools, imagine how close they'd be while seeing each other all day every day.

She'd be more quickly integrated into his friend group (Wolfpack) which would provide her with constant protection (and maybe knowledge ?) from the vampires

about the above point: the Wolfpack would hang out with her all the time, not give Edward the chance to put her in danger, etc.

Basically: it would be a Jake/Bella friends to lovers or Bella would have more of a backbone / less tolerance for Edwards's mixed messages

What if vampires could cry, but their tears were venom-based like all their other bodily fluids?

What if Eddie boy accidentally burned Bella with his tears?

I think he would see that as a metaphor for their relationship or some shit.

Vampires can cry and their tears are venom- which means that their tears scar their skin.

It's seen as a sign of weakness to have tear scars as a vampire, but Edward's face is scarred from all his tears

he's incredibly self-conscious of his scars

Carlisle has tear scars down his chest from Edward crying after being turned

Rosalie has one singular tear scar down her cheek from after she was turned and remember what had happened to her

Esme has tear scars all over her hands and fingers from drying Edwards tears over the years

if Edward cried on Bella

it would be after she was attacked by James, sitting in the hospital

he leans over to kiss her forehead and a single tear falls onto her and it scars

he cries on her again after she rescues him at the end of new moon

he is so happy to see her that he cries and notices that it burns her as the tears touch her

that's how he knows he isn't dreaming when she runs into his arms
