need to rant a little about this

I'm better than I used to be, but spiders, still, make me very uneasy; I do not like how they move and mysteriously vanish. Other bugs are easier to scoop up and take outside (other than wasps, which are more frightening in a-let-me-get-you-outside way).

BUT!

I still believe (know) spiders are valuable creatures who are useful and necessary and good to exist. Spiders are very good to have around in the world.

like I feel people should be able to recognize: this unnerves me but that doesn't make it bad to exist. I don't know if Charlotte and Miss Spider rewrired my brain as a child, but the idea that spiders are useful and just, well, good for the world seems so...obvious? So I have a hard time with the idea that just because a bug is icky to you that equals "lets get rid of it". I just...I can't... I don't get it.

Someone: Very clearly, explicitly explains that every single species of invertebrate is important in some way to the environment and how insect populations keep dropping which could literally cause ecological collapse if they were to all go extinct

Some absolute genius, every single fucking time: This is it......... This is the perfect post to talk about how much I hate mosquitos/ticks/spiders/wasps on and go "Haha but those icky bad evil mean bugs I hate are an exception right lol???"
