Finding out we have a season 7 does take a bit of the weight off. If they're not together by the finale there's still hope they'll get back together next season. I was worried it'd be open ended and then not get renewed.

I hate how deep into my depression I've fallen in the past week. I hate how much I've come to rely on chenford to keep me distracted from my negative thoughts. I've lost that distraction and I'm honestly not sure what to do now. I know it's ridiculous and unhealthy and pathetic but I honestly am just at the end of my rope I don't know what I'm gonna do. I have nothing positive to focus on right now and I'd usually lose myself in this stupid ship and that's just gone all of a sudden and I just hate myself so much right now.

Anyone have any recent fluffy Chenford AU fic recommendations? Everytime I scroll through ao3 the last few days it's all post-breakup fics ‐ which I'm sure are great and I look forward to reading in the future but I'm a bit depressed at the moment and could just use some non-canon fluff! If they don't address the misogyny of this damn storyline onscreen and just mozy along having Lucy give up her dreams while Nolan can run around breaking rules and receiving golden tickets to fix his problem, and Tim gets to benefit with a promotion from the same five player trade that is hurting Lucy's career. When Lucy was originally going to transfer stations so she and Tim could be together and he took it upon himself to switch to a desk job causing Lucy to feel guilty for his misery and initiate the five player trade to begin with.

I'm sorry for ranting and I don't blame Tim but I'm just frustrated more and more with the way Lucy's career trajectory is written and dismissed. Bad enough people constantly wanting her to give up UC work solely for Tim's happiness, now people are happy she might not get to be a detective at all! Fuck what she actually wants I guess.

I still hold out hope due to photos from future episodes showing her working out of uniform. But I'm tired.

At this rate I feel like it's happened offscreen. Between the docu episode ending with the interviewer & Lucy saying "love" was good word to describe their relationship, and Lucy making that "undercover love" joke in the last episode, they speak like people have already said that word by now.

Next season better start with an ILY from chenford 😤

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I do not want Lucy to give up her UC dreams for Tim. It's so frustrating and I'll be so disappointed if this happens.

Lucy is already sacrificing so much just being with Tim... i know that's not what they portray onscreen but let's be realistic here. A younger female officer ending up in a romantic relationship with a superior who literally trained her, she's giving up a lot of respect being in this relationship. Not saying it's right, that's just how shit is. They went through the whole "rookies can't date rookies" mantra in season one, I refuse the narrative that no one is judging a rookie/TO relationship in comparison.

Then there's the Metro debacle potentially stifling her career in service of making sure Tim is happy and fulfilled in his work. (Which really what did she do? She had Smitty tell one sergeant about a job opportunity... she didn't force anyone to move jobs for pete sake)

Now she's having to live in the shadow of Isabel's mistakes. She could end up going down a similar path, get addicted to drugs, have the hours negatively effect her personal life... I'm not saying those things can't happen. Life is unpredictable and there are no guarantees. But just as no one can say for sure that won't happen, you also can't guarantee that it will. She could end up being just fine doing UC work. Plenty of other officers are. The point is she shouldn't have to live her life around what happened to someone else.

I just get frustrated seeing that little interview snippet about Isabel's reappearance bringing up Lucy's UC work. And yes the parallel should be addressed. But I'm gonna be so upset if Lucy decides to change career paths based on Isabel's past. Because that will be about Tim. Not her.

I just, sometimes I think chenford fans, and the writing of this relationship in general are more Tim fans. Not Lucy fans. Tim gets the girl! Tim gets the job he wants (with the extra detrimental to personal life hours that's OK for him to have apparently)! Let's make sure Lucy is making Tim happy! Tim Tim Tim.

Frankly if they have to have the "UC will have negative effects on your personal life" chat, I'd rather Harper being the one to make Lucy see that light instead of Isabel. It will be less about Tim that way.

Sorry for the rant. Like I said, just frustrated. Lucy deserves better.

Maybe I'm wrong and the episode will end with Lucy continuing on her UC path and it will just be a conversation. Here's hoping.
