📌 CH.87 SPOILERS
Tumblr media
He envies Kou’s powerless-ness...
Tumblr media
I feel bad for Teru and you know why?
Because for his whole life he was restricted from literally living like a normal person. For years, he was supposed to do the things he was expected to do, as being a powerful exorcist and defeat all kind of supernaturals; they taught him beliefs thus he was expected to learn them and rely on them.
They didn’t teach him how to be like a regular person but they just taught him how to be the kind of robot whose task is always the same. He was not allowed to have fun, to relax or to whatever a normal being would do: what he did, and he’s continuing to do, was to follow not his mind or thoughts but other people’s expectations of him.
He lived based on others people’s expectations, not his desires... it has always been like that.
That’s why Teru says “Maybe to you I look like a bad person.” in this chapter, because he knows that what he does it’s not based on his mindset but on other people’s one, he aknowledged that from the start.
So, this means that his actions rarely reflected his thoughts: he did what he did ‘cause it was righteous to do... or ‘cause that’s what others wanted him to do?
Keep in mind that Teru doesn’t exactly know how to think with his head or how to follow HIS OWN beliefs... he was so trapped by the his elders’ pressure on him that he forgot he had his own mind.
I don’t think Teru is that bad of a person, after all, did you take a minute to think if being an exorcist is what he really wants to be until he becomes a boomer old man? I personally believe that, deep down, he has his own plans regarding his life, just afraid to “betray” the whole exorcist’s dynasty.
— Teru envies his brother’s powerless-ness because, thanks to it, he would have lived a life like any other human being. ༺

The "God" of the Red House
(Spoilers ahead for the latest chapter)
We've got not only most of the backstory with Real!Tsukasa and Amane, but after chapter 81, we also got some clarifications on the dark wish granting entity in the Red House.
Something that Amane and Tsukasa both call "God".
Tumblr media
The reason Amane calls this entity "God" is because Tsukasa tells him that it grants whatever wishes he wants. But something needs to be sacrificed to get the wish, which is exactly how Hanako's and Tsukasa's powers work as well.
For a wish, something precious is lost. Or more accurately, a life—or something akin to it—is lost.
Tsukasa sacrifices small animals for books and toys, and later himself for Amane's life. Nene's life is flipped upside down and her soul bound to Hanako's for her wish to become human. And much later, Aoi is sacrificed for Nene's life.
Which brings us to one thing:
Tumblr media
Did "God" grant Hanako a wish too?
Wishes can be granted to the dead at a cost as well, but since they're no longer alive the price varies. (For example, Mitsuba's mind is warped for his wish to be remembered.)
We don't know if Hanako was dead or alive when he got his wish granted, but we do know that it was after Amane killed "Tsukasa".
(Also adding a crack theory in the middle of all of this, what if killing demon!Tsukasa freed the entity from within him and allowed it to speak with Amane? Or maybe possess him?)
What if in the end, Amane's wish was to get a chance to redeem his sins, in exchange for being bound to the school? Was it even his own wish or was it something forced upon him (like when Tsukasa made Mitsuba the third mystery)? There's many mysteries behind this, and hopefully we can learn more in future chapters.
Feel free to correct me or add on more to this theory!

Is talking about his 4 year old brother who sacrificed his life for him?
Or about the person he stabbed with the knife?
He never called the other person his brother? He didn't said to Nene that was my brother. He just said I had a brother.
For me it feels like Hanako knows the truth and regrets that Tsukusa died for him.
Tumblr media
He regrets what he said to him.

Note
Chapter 81 man.. it’s a whole rollercoaster however the hole was definitely mimicking the only person who ever talked to it I believe? Based on the rough translations
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, I totally agree!
Here it seems like it’s imitating Tsukasa’s voice. Hmm, could it be that fake Tsukasa was already in the process of making as soon as he spoke to the hole? Or maybe it just imitated whoever approached it... who knows!
