R.I.P.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 3 was the very first Manga I have ever read about half a lifetime ago in my early teens. After I really got into watching Anime, it was only a matter of time until I decided I wanted to venture into trying Manga and one day I did it on a whim.
Why Vol. 3? Because it was the only one they had available at the public library at the time and since I was already watching the Anime I figured “Why not?”. And so it began.
Soon after, I pretty much begged my father to get me the first three volumes from ebay and thus my collection and my passion for Manga started (to the chagrin of my mother who doesn’t approve of such “nonsense”).
Way back when Manga were only 5€ per volume (good times!) and I had to buy them from my very very meagre pocket money.
Today I am in my early 30s with a steady income and after more than 15 years of collecting, my collection consists of almost 2000 volumes and counting.
The mainstream Anime/Manga that were popular in the early 2000s were a huge part of my childhood and never fail to make me feel nostalgic and long for simpler times.
Since Yu-Gi-Oh! is how it all started, it will always have a special place in my heart. Therefore I am all the more saddened to hear the news about Kazuki Takahashi’s tragic passing.
It hit me completely out of the blue when I opened facebook yesterday and the German publisher’s obituary was the first thing that popped up.
The world just lost a great artist way too soon and my heart is heavy. May he rest in peace.

An initiative to introduce universal basic income in EU unconditionally, ths is extremely important and could possibly become precedent. Friends outside EU, please boost!
They’re closing the signing period tomorrow and nobody knows of it :(

I put myself on a book buying ban at the beginning of this year (again).
Today I went to the local bookstore on my way home from work... I’m sure you can all guess what happened next lol. (Spoiler alert: I bought 5 new books. Whoops!)
And I went a bit wild at the start of January with buying a bunch of ebooks (they were relatively cheap, that’s my excuse)...

This was officially my last book-purchase of the year (pre-orders and orders not being fulfilled before 2022 don’t count). It was a total impulse purchase. I went to the bookstore yesterday to get a new bullet journal, firmly telling myself I’m not gonna buy any more books this year... To be completely honest, I got them for the covers. More specifically for the cover of the second book - because purple! - which is why I broke my rule of not buying sequels before reading the first book.

My pre-order finally arrived today! And they fit perfectly into the niche next to my German copy of The grandmaster of demonic cultivation. So satisfying! Those books are so pretty and (unlike the German edition) they have several illustrations throughout the books.

The official German translation of The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation Vol. 1 by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (translated from Chinese by Nina Le) was released by Tokyopop today.
Just look at this beauty! It’s the hardcover edition and it comes with beautifully painted edges as well as two full-color illustrations on the inside.

Today I got book mail! My pre-order from Drachenmond Verlag arrived.
A signed copy of Witches & Hunters - Verbranntes Vertrauen by Janina Schneider-Tidigk.
Stories about witches seems to be a theme in recent book publishing trends and I’m not complaining.

I think the prospect of soon being jobless and the fact that I won’t be able to plan my budget for December and beyond because I don’t know if I’ll have a new job by then and how well it’ll pay if I do and the anxiety that comes with the prospect of job hunting and job interviews and potentially starting at a new place not knowing to expect is just sinking in now and I feel sick to my stomach :)))
And I was doing so well with my mental health lately, too. I was doing great actually! Why does life have to suck so much?!

Soo, my bosses just called me into their office for "a talk"... Always bad news.
I am going to be laid off at the end of November. Not because of any fault of mine but because the law firm is doing poorly and they simply can't afford me anymore.
It's a real bummer. I actually liked working there. Ever since I started working there in April last year, I was finally feeling comfortable where I am at in life for the first time.
They sent me home for today to cope. I think I'm still in shock.
I wanna cry, but I also feel kinda numb and I want to be angry, but it's not my employer's fault this time so ghere is no one to be pissed at.
