I wondered when you were gonna say hi
You popped up in my dream last night,
Garbed in black, dark shiny nails.
Face bright with a smile, pain gone.
You knocked me down when I saw you last,
Consensually, of course, it's part of the game.
Purple, blue and green, bruises as trophies.
You had such a short time, full of queer joy.
Would you have lived longer if you weren't?
Hospitals safer, cancer found sooner?
You deserved more, deserved freedom,
Shouldn't have had to plan a wonderful goodbye,
Filled with rainbows, sun, glitter, art.
"I wondered when you were gonna say hi"
You said to me last night, fabulous in black.
I smiled and cried, lucky to have known you.

Fragile golden strings
Holding the universe together
Made from love, from joy
From sunshine and sunrises,
From fog in the early morning
And tea just before bed.
In the too long hugs when
You feel the world slipping,
In the first tear and the last
And everything in between.
Too fragile to last,
But too precious to waste.
If only I could weave them
Into a blanket to wrap
Around the people I love.

Floodgates
A whiff of smoke, a pointed comment,
A series of words on time stained pages,
A story of a man who lives to protect
The sweet fragile joy in his kids eyes,
Hits me where the pain is still raw.
Years spent building wards with tears,
Laying the bricks of distance and time,
With mortar mixed in therpy rooms,
And a gate, made from blood iron,
forged by hands scarred from reaching,
Meant nothing when the flood came.
I had no choice but to breathe.
Breathe in, breathe out
Try not to choke on the sharp edges
Of the thing my parents called love.

Stand up
Yesterday I completed my work
Typed and typed and filled my screen
Closed tickets, opened tickets
An existential crisis due to busy work
Screamed, cried, smiled, and masked
Committed, pulled, and pushed
A breakdown on the floor, time to breath.
Today I'll complete my work
Type some more, debug til death
Stare longingly at the green outside my door
And dream of the fruits of my labour.
And that's all from me.

What time am I wasting?
I could rage, I could fight
I could run and run and run
But it passes just the same
So sip the coffee when it's hot
Savour the morning sun
Make the jokes and the calls
And tell your boss to fuck off

online queer spaces (aka tik tok) can be so fucking dumb sometimes. like, in real life 20 year old and 40 year old dykes are making out at the bar and it’s fine. trans men and trans masc people will go to lesbian bars and it will be normal and acceptable to see them there. lesbians will fuck trans people (trans masc and femme people) and the world won’t end. someone at the gay bar will be wearing kink gear and no one will bat an eye. dykes will have moustaches and stubble and will be wearing a labrys and people are gonna fuck who they want and not fuck who they don’t want and that’s literally ok. being a part of a community means you will meet people who are different and who don’t fit your strict fucking rules of what is “acceptable” and what isn’t. and i feel badly for people who don’t understand what it’s like to live in a real-life community. let queer people be messy and confusing, no one in the real world cares.

Tomorrow
We will open the door
To coffee and bacon
Yoga in the morning
It was hardwon
Claws, sacrifice, tears
Sanity, sanctity, fears
Years, months, days
But now it's nearly here
It's ours, just for us
The air is electric
Home is in sight

Some spins on the "mostly male team with a token woman" trope:
The woman is trans and stayed in her old circle of bros even after transition
The woman is the only one in her circle of "girls" who didn't turn out to be a trans man
