REVISED after seeing 10 of the 13 episodes:

PRIYA - still definitely giving clarinet vibes, somehow even moreso.

MILLIE - she, unfortunately, is giving the trumpet player who barely tries and is only there bc of their friends. love her tho

RIPPER - I was right the first time. this man is a trombone player and he is insufferable (affectionate - he's such a fun character).

DAMIEN - my beloved. I still get the same vibes of good drumline member who actually watches the drum major

AXEL - she plays sousaphone purely for strength and endurance training

CHASE - bro i feel like i was right with this one, too. he really wants to be on drumline but is put in pit (front ensemble) instead. and he bitches about not being in on drumline, too.

ZEE - mr "think like a worm, move like a worm" is 100% a goofy i-only-know-strands-tunes trombone player. one of my favorite cast members of this season.

LAUREN (SCARY GIRL) - i do still think she would be a flute player, but purely to play high-pitched notes so she can spook people

CALEB - mmm..... maybe euphonuem. defo not trumpet tho.

NICHELLE - girlypop gave us a canonical design for flutes in td xoxo so i have to say flute!! girl probably could not march for shit tho! and i love that!!

JULIA - she is on guard for sure. flute player in band!!

BOWIE - DEFO a trumpet player actually, but he's like actually good and knows it. love love love him

WAYNE and RAJ - these two are trombone players and you cannot change my mind. go owls!!!

EMMA - homegirl oozes clarinet energy. still does.

MK - changing my answer here -- she's giving percussion energy to me. just on vibes i want to say she's on drumline but given her character i want to say she's, like, front ensemble

this season really exceeded my expectations! the quality of character writing and animation really increased.

This isn't like a proper return or anything but. Here's what instruments I think the new cast would play based on their looks alone:

Discontinued Indefinitely

Hey all! I'm sure you can tell from the inactivity, but I am no longer creating content for this blog.

It started as a special interest of mine in 2019 after reading the Total Trauma comic by @totaltrauma. I saw Wyatt used paint.net for prins comics and went, "Hey, I have paint.net!", so I decided upon this blog during winter break of my junior year, the year I was first elected drum major and very excited about marching band. I wanted to share my love of marching band with everyone, and I wanted to get more people interested in this hobby I loved so dearly.

But, as my ADHD goes, I lost focus very quickly, and couldn't churn out all the ideas banging around in my head. COVID didn't help as I fell into a long depressive episode. The pandemic took away many band experiences I was so excited for: senior marching season, being camp counselor at my local summer overnight band camp, doing drum major things with one of my best friends. It almost took my love of band with it, too. I tried to keep making content regardless—replace comics with oneshots and asks, but it was never the same. The spark wasn't there.

I am now entering my sophomore year of college with a double major, two volunteer student leadership positions, and a little stray German Shepherd pup I'm training to be my emotional support animal! That being said, I am no longer in marching band (or concert band for that matter) because the time commitment outweighs the benefits, unfortunately.

I still love marching band, and I have found myself reinvested with Total Drama in 2022. However, I can't find it in myself to properly work on this blog, to give it the love I planned for it, the love I had for it, all the way back in December 2019.

I might pick this back up again. I might start over or redo some comics, but as of right now, Total Drama Marching discontinued indefinitely. I'm sorry.

Word of advice, don't use liquid bug spray while wearing a a flute lyre. I sprayed some on me during band camp to keep the mosquitoes off, and the plastic melted onto my arm (some chemical in the spray caused a reaction). Needless to say, I had to use some cause to cover up the melty bits, and there's still some gauze stuck on my lyre to this day. So yeah, dry bug spray all the way.

oh yeah "gush and go" is a very popular phrase in the marching band world. pro-tip: do not gush. go but do not gush. take sips.

we have this whole dismissal ritual where we sing the alma mater and go to attention and do a little chant? idk its still less cult-ish than the actual 3am silent-candlelight-walk initiation my gf had into college band

Why are you called the band

It's an easy way to refer to the marching band as a whole! My college marching director will often go "hey band" to address all 170+ of us at the same time.

"The" is just a qualifier!

Also college is kicking my ass rn and I've only been to one week's worth of classes so we'll see how that goes content-wise. Thanks for being patient!
