okay this is very random and out of the blue but i saw a tiktok of a guy who learned how to do nails for his gf to save money, and all i could think about is big tough guy simon riley hunched over your hands with a thin brush, painting pretty, delicate pink flowers onto your perfectly manicured nails (for a man who handles the most deadly weapons known to mankind, who would have thought he'd be so proficient with a nail file and cuticle cutter?)

i think the issue is when you compare the deaths in the og trilogy to soap's, it just makes you realise how flat it falls in comparison.

realistically i knew that soap would die, but like that was poorly done

i was saying to @yosanwoah that if they decided to kill anyone, it had to be in a way that actually mattered and altered character development or the over arching storyline. but the way they killed johnny off was so???? wasteful? he just gets shot, makarov gets away, and the rest of the 141 don't look overly concerned about any of it.

to be honest, as much as i adore price, i was kind of hoping they would have him killed, so the rest of the 141 have to navigate the mine field left behind without their steadfast leader, and have someone step up to take his place.

sadly, instead, they killed soap in a way that felt disconnected and unemotional, gave him a quick scene where they scattered his ashes (did his family consent to that???? the comrades that let him die scatter his ashes without them??? doubt it but whatever) and then dust off their hands and carry on with chasing a russian ghost (that, if we're being honest, they could have killed in several scenes leading up to soap dying but again, whatever)

i may not really be present in the cod fandom anymore, but i completely understand why people are upset about how his death was handled
