22nd March 2021 - So far, today has been an excellent day. I have a lot to do  before the end of the day but I’m also in a really good mood so I should be able to stay productive.

Day twenty-two - what’s your comfort food / comfort routine for sad days?

My comfort food is my mum’s homemade tomato soup with garlic bread. Or Yorkshire puddings. When I’m sad, I’ll wrap myself up in a couple of blankets, drink copious amounts of hot  chocolate, and watch tv shows or films for the entire day. Anything to take my mind off the sadness.

This date is kinda fraudulent because it's past midnight now, but I'm giving myself a pass on being accurate because I am exahsted and I did about 10 hours of work today. I don't know if I've ever done that much work before in a day. Anyway I've been working on my research project report, and it's at 5500 words now out of about 6400 I need as the minimum for a first, so I only need to do roughly another thousand words to be in the clear (bibliographys don't count). I had a bit of a breakthrough because I worked out how to use the proper SDSS explore tool and it has been... life changing. I'm definitely going to be able to write another 1000+ words about my topic before I hand it in on Wednesday.

Day 29: Name your own aesthetic! What's an aesthetic you'd like to try out? I don't want to pretend to be a complex human being here but I really struggle to "try out" new aesthetics, because I feel very dismorphic about my own appearance often enough as is. Dressing like myself involves lots of primary colours, big jeans and a little shirt, or big jeans and a big shirt. I don't recognise myself otherwise. And if I were to name an aesthetic, it would be called astronomercore. It would involve a lot of fleece jumpers and thick jeans and gloves. And like maybe a big duvet stuffed in your backpack. Any fellow astronomy bitches will know.

28/01/2021 - hectic day. did some work with linear algebra, wrote some programs for my programming course but actually struggling with some astrophysics stuff.. enjoy the picture of my cat, Venus.

Hello from a grey day in Leics. Went for a walk and did a couple more hours of writing my research project report (equivalent of a dissertation for my subject). It's supposed to be about 8000 words and we were given about a week to do it so fuck us, right?

Day 27: if you're about to graduate, what's something you'll really miss about school? I'm actually on my course for another year so I can graduate with a combo bachelors and masters, so in terms of what I love about school I think at the moment it's more what I miss about school because I haven't been allowed in the department for a year or so now. I miss the lecturers and academics, I miss the easy access to people who are literally at the top of their field and can tell you what you need to know. I miss getting a hot chocolate and sitting down in the library and studying for hours. I just miss it all man.

Day 28: what have you done over the semester? Dude. I have done so much rollerskating. I also finished my first proper piece of research, and it was really really fun and has really re-enforced for me that I want to do this for another 3-4 years for a PhD. (Obviously I want to then do it as a job but the academic job market being what it is, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch!)
