Dean Winchester plans on proposing to his summer fling, Lisa Braeden. He buys a ring, against the advice of best friend Charlie Bradbury, and books a table at an expensive restaurant. Before he can propose however, Lisa breaks up with him. His pride wounded, Dean drives out to the coast, gets liquored up and throws the engagement ring into the ocean. When he goes in to retrieve it, he heads too deep and that should be the end of the story. He shouldn’t end up back on the shore, coughing up seawater with a beautiful young man tending to him. Disclaimer: I usually read a lot of strangers to lovers or enemies to lovers, with a few established relationships sprinkled in; friends to lovers not that much but it does happen. My favorite tropes are misunderstandings, secrets, or secret identity, curses, and anything that can lead to complications and Dean and Cas being idiots. One of my favorite fics of all time is Evangelist by @valleydean. It's really enemies to friends to lovers but the enemies part becomes friends pretty quickly because they are deeply obsessed with each other. One of the classics if you haven't read it is To Build a Home. Childhood friends who broke up and find themselves back in each other’s life. It is very angsty but they have a lifelong friendship so you get a lot of childhood and teenage friendship moments. If I may self recommend, I just wrote Can't Fight the Moonlight in which they are in this post canon partnership and both want to add sexual intimacy but the partnership is soft so you get some really fun platonic intimacy. It's not AU, obviously, but may have something of what you want. Seraph by @dothraki-shieldmaiden is a superhero au where they are friends and roommates to lovers. It has great world building. More than Kisses by @friendofcarlotta is a friends to lovers epistolary romance. Dean and Cas are pen pals and they share an absolutely gorgeous emotional intimacy. Tiamatv has a few that fit the bill. I'm gonna mention Marchen because I love the world built in that one. Dean Winchester is a prince locked in a tower. She pushes through, focusing back on her job, clearing her throat before murmuring, "Well, I guess we all want angels to visit us sometimes." 

"Just the one," Dean mumbles. 

"Your guardian angel?" Mitzi asks. 

Dean breathes out, "Something like that. As close to one as an angel will ever get."

Dean wins a trip to Paris. In and of itself, that’s an amazing thing, but the problem is: he isn’t in a relationship with Lisa anymore, and the trip requires a romantic partner. But Dean isn’t selfish and also really wants to give his overworked best friend a well deserved holiday, so the only and best solution is to take Cas to Paris, romantic theme be damned. What Dean doesn’t know is that their whole trip will be documented by a photographer from the company - so to avoid their vacation being cut short, Dean and Cas will have to convincingly play a couple.

Reading Challenge Destiel Edition 2023

Here's the thing: a few days ago I was talking to a friend. She happily told me that she will do the reading challenge this year. For a moment I felt left out.

I read a lot, I read in a language that is not my language, and I read things that I like and that I could talk about for hours. I like to share what I read with friends. So... why can't I do the reading challenge?

Simple.

Because the Reading Challenge is for books.

But who said that?!?!?!

So I had an idea... we can do a ff reading challenge, obviously Destiel related!

My proposal is this: from January to December 2023, read something that falls into these categories, talk about it with friends, and talk about it in tumblr, twitter (while it lasts), Hive... wherever you want.

And tag your readings, so we can find each other and exchange recommendations (#RCDestiel23)

We have the largest archive for a specific ship… we can have a lot of fun!

And (I like to think) also discover something that we would never have read otherwise.
