He was on delivery but his shift was about to end. It was sunset, after all, his favorite time of day next to mornings off from work!

"Oricorio search and rescue training's not til next month so just keep Oricorio with you. Wisteria...." Sun was reminded to a time when he called a Wisteria useless (even though they have advantage against water types, which was pretty much the majority of Alola) and the Wisteria vine whipped him real bad. "...will protect you. Right, Wisteria?!"

"OH, YOUR PHONE BAT'S DYING? Alright alright alright. Just stay there on Poni." As if Valerie had the stamina to go anyway, she was freaking kidnapped! If only he knew... "Are you by the coast or some trees or a building or anything? A landmark? Okay, Tauros, to the DOCKS!"

That sounded like hooves. Was he on a delivery? Valerie's phone beeped. The battery was dying. She didn't have much time.

"N-no. They were taken from me." Valerie was too tired to even feel guilty. She left behind her closest companions. Her own battery was about to run out.

"There's Oricorio I can see. And the wisteria."

Was there a green glint just now? Maybe she was hallucinating. Her kidnappers kept her awake for their 'experiments', Valerie didn't think it was that long. Valerie leaned on a tree. She felt so tired. Her phone beeped again, waking her up. "My phone's battery is dying."

Only locals referred to him as 'Elio', the grandson of the late Erion. He turned the Rotom phone volume up as the caller revealed herself.

"VALERIE!" he shouted, obviously way too loud. Not like she'd be able to literally hear him all the way from Poni without this call. "Damn, miss! Did you know you're on the missing persons list?!" Yes, he was one of those people who took the time to look through those depressing things, in case of the in case. And this was the case now.

He put Valerie on speaker so that his transportation Tauros could understand context for what they were about to do next. "What makes you think you're at Poni? Do you have any of your Pokémon with you?"

If this were any other time, she'd crack a joke. Something like 'delivery of one ranger back to Malie, will pay in pizza and beans'.

"El̀i̧o?" Her voice cracked. That was how bad it was. The facade of the calm ranger was cracked. "I think," she took a deep breath. Sheesh, she didn't introduce herself. "This- this is Valerie. I think I'm- I'm at Poni."

For him, it was unnecessary but also refreshing to hear someone refer to him by his actual name instead of just 'courier'. The world needed more people like Valerie, who cared enough to read the name tags of their service boys.
