Not me just figuring out why Anne of Green Gables became such an important thing for me and my grandmother

My grandmother is my stepfather’s mom meaning we literally share no blood relation. But she immediately accepted me as just as much her granddaughter as her other grandkids.

Recently we had a conversation and she got all teary telling me she could never imagine me being anything other than her granddaughter.

I guess I never really connected the similarities between the sense of unconditional love and family between the Cuthberts and Anne even she was adopted and my own situation with my family.

My closest family besides my parents and siblings are all the family on my stepfather’s side.

This is like when I realized Anastasia was my favorite because my maternal grandmother that I am super close with lives 600 miles away and I only got to see her once or twice a year 😅
